#Beautiful video (37,779) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
I need to start off by saying that I love it. I love when Mariah does vanity videos, because it's when she's at her best, and to be honest, it fits the theme of the song. Mariah looks stunning. Absolutely stunning. In fact, she looks so good, and she's so risk-ay in the video, that it will help generate hype. I mean, she looks smoking. She and Miguel look hot to be honest. The visual is simple, but gorgeous and somehow pleasantly engaging. The colours in the video are great. Mariah's body looks great. The leather hot pants are a style trend for summer, believe it or not, so from a fashion point of view she's on point too. I know the gays will be happy with this. Let's hope everyone else will be lol.

The UK has never really "got" Mariah. This is true. There was a period in the 90s where she was massive. Probably the biggest female star. She was everywhere, but since then she's never been fully embraced. With that being said, when her music has been on point commercially, she has been successful. TEOM did very well in the UK for example. The bottom line is, when she gets her game into good shape, she stands some kind of chance here.

I totally get where you are coming from, in terms of AI. Whilst it's helped keep her name out there, she definitely needs to leave before they fire her for publicity and/or to blame her for the shows poor rating, rather than highlight their mismanagement. I've been critical of Mariah in the past too, and always will be if she puts out rubbish like Triumphant. Like you, it's because I know she is capable of so much more. #Beautiful is a great song and exactly what Mariah should be making. It's fresh. Even my mother was like, "it's different, I like it". It has TEOM vibes all over. I also think the reason why the album has taken so long is because after Triumphant, Mariah went back to scratch. She's probably not going to admit it, but I think she realised she had to take a different direction. All of a sudden Hit Boy and Darkchild came into the mix.

#Beautiful (37,755) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
#Beautiful has been trending on twitter on and off for a few days now. I genuinely think the public at large are happy to hear this from Mariah, as it's refreshing, a slightly different, more adult orientated direction from her. I think the public wanted this and are excited by it. Also, perhaps her stint on AI has made her a bit more relevant within social media. Combine that with the lambs rejoicing at this song, which has restored our faith in Mariah. I love it and hearing it reminds me of how TEOM took off. I remember ILT opening the door for Mariah to be played on radio again and then WBT smashing through to push the album. The reaction to #Beautiful reminds me of how people reacted to WBT, as in people want to hear this type of stuff from Mariah. Not music where she's trying to be trendy. The whole throwback vibe has always worked for Mariah, whether that be on an uptempo track like Fantasy or most of TEOM.

Nicki Minaj (37,746) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Nicki says Mariah is insecure and bitter, yet she's the one posing it up with Tommy Mottola and J.Lo, trying to make a point. It seems as though Mariah's comment re not having a #1 really got to her. Who's the one coming off as insecure and bitter now? I so want #Beautiful to get to #1 just to prove a point.

#Beautiful (37,705) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Just downloaded #Beautiful from iTunes. Mariah has done it again. This song is going to be huge. Well done Mariah. I love it. And before people start moaning about there being too much Miguel on it, I'll remind you that it's a duet, and one in which they sound beautiful together. Stunning work from Mariah. This is the type of isht I have been waiting for.

Showbiz 411 article (37,684) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
I'm glad Mariah has changed management. That would explain why the promo in the last few weeks has been pretty much on point from the music side of things. Hopefully it can improve going forward. IDJ have not supported Mariah properly in recent years, so hopefully with decent management behind her, she can undo some of their countervailing effect on Mariah's career. Side note; I wish Rodger Friedman wouldn't give so much away about the song. I was looking forward to the surprise of how the duet was going to work. It's good of Mariah to release info to the fans through him, and it's a good way of building anticipation for the single and album.

Beautiful (37,648) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Tbh, I can't even take the views of someone who judges a song before they've even heard it seriously. Those of you who get bothered by such opinions should just laugh. It's ridiculous to judge a song based on a few laughs, and hardly any music. Mariah has given nothing away with this one. Btw, I loved the teaser.

Beautiful/AI future etc (37,633) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
I think Mariah has been very smart with Beautiful. For once, the video is ready before the song is even released. She has a credible director. A big appearance on GMA is scheduled. Seems like she's getting the promo right too. An appearance on SNL is overdue if you ask me too. I think Mariah should stick two fingers up to AI and announce right now that she won't be returning next year. She's way too big a star to be on that piece of crap show in any event. The AI producers have blatantly tried to talk smack about Mariah by sending out false rumours. Trying to discredit her, or to reduce her salary if she was to come back. Mariah's PR machine is pretty damn good in these situations, and she's called their bluff by sending out rumours that she won't perform on the show, ie the show is not worthy of her music, her real talent. She should go one step further and not make herself look desperate by just straight up saying the show is a pile of dog poo and she won't be returning. Take the $18 million, lovely designer dresses, shoes and just walk. AI is not worthy of Mariah. They should have stars like Paula and J.Lo. They are more appropriate candidates for reality TV, which essentially is all the AI is.

You have a point, but then the Americans love Simon Cowell, so it's not like they are adverse to harsh realities. Also, I'm actually Irish, I just reside in London. Lol.

Special K (37,553) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
I've enjoyed Mariah on the show thus far, but have to say, on this weeks show she was incoherent, rambling and verged on annoying. She needs to be herself. She's trying too hard to be liked. She's likeable as it is and should just judge. For example, Lazero has been terrible for weeks now, and all that needed to be said, was that at this stage in the competition, with all the help he's getting, he should be better, and be working harder to improve, and he's not. He fell way behind the competition. Instead, she spent what felt like hours explaining something which still barely makes sense to me. She needs to relax, and say what she really thinks. I think she has a lot to offer, and clearly has more interesting things to say than the other judges when it comes to actual singing, but she's trying too hard to be nice, and it comes out rambling. I think she should quit the gig after this season. She's above this trash. She should get that album out asap before this gig ends and move the hell on. Her $18 million pay check can shut any haters up.

Styling (37,474) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Mariah's styling on AI since the live shows began has been fantastic. I think it's obvious AI are paying for a stylist. She looks stunning, even when she had the girls out earlier in the season. She consistently looks better than NM.

Nikki (37,346) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Nikki, Mariah was massive in Europe in the 90s. She wouldn't have been able to sell so much worldwide had she not. From 93 through to 98, she was one of the biggest female sellers in the UK.

Mariah on Kelly and Michael/Almost Home (37,329) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
She looked gorgeous and came across really well. I know I'm late, but Almost Home is just okay to me. Doesn't really get me going if I'm honest.

Happy New Year. I totally agree, and get your points. Being married to Tommy means she'll be eternally linked to him. That's just the way it is.

Good point. I don't mind Mariah being linked to Tommy. They were incredibly successful and really helped each others careers. They were also husband and wife at one point, an undeniable fact. My problem is the fact that Mariah is rarely given credit for what she did for Sony and Tommy. It was a two way thing. Mariah is such a talented songwriter, she could deliver whatever was needed. Nobody really gives her credit for this.

Tommy M (37,048) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
If those exerts from his memoir are in fact what he wrote, then he's even weirder than I thought lol. He actually sounds properly obsessed. Admitting that you defied your therapist is crazy. The memoir kind of vindicates everything Mariah has said in the past for me. I find the timing of the release of the book interesting too. I think Tommy knows that with American Idol, Mariah is about to forge a different, quite significant chapter in her career, one he has absolutely nothing to do with, and in some crazy way wants to take credit for Mariah even having that platform. I think he did wonders for Mariah's career, but let's remember one thing; Mariah is the most successful female producer and songwriter of all time. Nobody handed her tracks to turn up and sing. If Tommy promoted Mariah and gave her a distributional vehicle, Mariah's part as the actual talent, voice and person who crafted the hits can't be overlooked. Of the two, I think Mariah's input was more fundamental than Tommy's. You can't create a voice or a good songwriter.

Happy New Year all, and congratulations to Eric on keeping this site going for 15 years. I've been using this site since the early 2000s. It's still one of the best Mariah sites around.

Brilliant. A wonderful version, which doesn't lose the song's melody. Also, a genius bit of marketing from Mariah and Jimmy, as the clip has gone viral and will no doubt promote Mariah's Christmas catelogue and Jimmy's show.

Aussie tour (36,894) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Mariah is playing a clever game with her Aussie tour. It's quite strange for her to complete a tour of just one specific country. However, when you think about it, Aussie lambs have been crying out for Mariah to come back for years. She's now concentrating on that market and by touring it, she's expanding her brand and keeping her name in the press in advance of her AI stint and new album. It's like a concentrated attack on a country where she knows there's a market for her. She'll probably realease music not too long after that and now has the perfect platform to promote the music and her brand in Australia. It's clearly big news over there. I'm very happy for Aussie lambs. They've been dedicated to Mariah for years and have been asking for her to return for quite some time.

I agree. Such comments are very distasteful. Firstly, this is a Mariah messageboard, so it's irrelevant to post something like that here. Secondly, she's dead, there's no need to be rude. No matter what she did in her private life, you can't deny her legend. Respect should be shown.
