Vegas residency promo (49,282)
by Dove from USA

I wonder if there is going to be any more promo. Everyone was talking about Celine when it first started and Britney got an E special. These things need to be hyped up so that people who are not fans will get excited to go.

The third coming (49,276)
by Dove from USA

I am so excited that Mariah is going back to Sony. I feel faint, like the people who passed out when they saw The Beatles or Michael Jackson. I don't know whether to contain my excitement or let myself fully feel what is happening. It feels like our dreams are finally happening. (Those are tears of joy.)

Madonna (49,275)
by Dove from USA

I would like to see Madonna and Mariah reenacting their feud on SNL. I don't see them being friends but they can at least be "cool" and put that feud behind them, on TV, with a joke. The only Madonna albums I've ever owned are The Immaculate Collection and the one that has Ray Of Light but I can appreciate that she's also a legend with a huge fandom. Putting it behind them would be good because that comment Mariah made in 1995 always gets brought up as an example as to why Mariah is not nice.

Billy (49182) / debut album honors concert idea (49,274)
by Dove from USA

She's the only popular artist of today I could think of who could do justice to Vanishing when I wrote that, but it doesn't have to be her - maybe Jojo or Sarah Bareilles? I'm just thinking MC should put her catalog to work. Having different artists sing the songs MC wrote for her first album would breathe new life into those older songs and show/remind people how good a writer she's always been. It will also put to rest the misconception that Mariah feels threatened by other female artists. I'm thinking of the concert where Mariah sang If Only You Knew/Somewhere Over the Rainbow for Patti LaBelle. MC can just be in the front row, looking stunning, enjoying her songs being sung by some of the best singers, whom she inspired. Before each performance there could be a short interview clip of each artist talking about how they were inspired by MC. Those singers have their own fandom who will be introduced to Mariah Carey's music, if they haven't been already. I think all of the artists I listed have been inspired by Mariah except for (maybe) Taylor Swift, but I still included her because Prisoner sounds like it could have been on 1989 and everyone likes Taylor. Her image is perfectly cultivated, she always seems sweet, she never bad mouths anyone, she seems intelligent, she's photographed hanging out with celebrities but also with regular people, etc. I think it would be a good opportunity to focus on tthe songwriting while honoring the queen.

Lambily chocolate (49,261)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
I had a dream that I was in the Mariah Carey store and there were huge candy bars for sale called Lambily. They were 1/2 pound bars and the wrapper and font looked like the Hershey's Symphony bar (cream colored with pin stripes and red or blue cursive lettering) but the one in my dream had brownish purple lettering. I tasted one and they tasted like See's milk chocolate with almonds. It was such a bizarre and realistic dream, I just had to share it with you guys. Side note: I don't think I've ever tasted a Symphony bar.

#1 album cover (49,259)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
I love that picture a lot and I always thought it would make a gorgeous album cover. I think it would look more balanced if "Mariah (butterfly) Carey" was on the side, like on the Unplugged album. Or above the picture instead of on top of it. Just my two cents. I'm saving up my money for when it comes out. Guess what everyone I know is getting for Christmas this year? (I also hope it has a few new songs included that can be released as singles and will make it to #1.)

Ellen / LV (49,224)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
Mariah looked perfect on Ellen. She was happy, confident, and glowing. There is nothing I can add that hasn't already been said here. Her hair and make up was perfect. The color and cut of the dress were super flattering. Her mood was great. I feel like I'm dreaming. This new era is off to a great start. Using older pictures is fine because it's a retrospective concert. (And because I love that picture.) I am definitely going to see Mariah in Vegas because I believe a true fan supports their favorite artist's projects. I can feel that this residency is coming to us from a place of love and it's going to be amazing. She's been there for me my entire life (practically) and now I'm going to be there for her, today and always. Fans: if you can afford to go to this please do not miss it. Caesar's can still sell a lot of tickets to locals and casual fans who are in LV for other reasons but the real fans should be the ones experiencing the amazing-ness that's about to go down. Mariah I love you and I always will. I am shining my light on you and praying for your happiness. I know (because I can feel it) that these concerts will be as magical in real life as they are in my heart.

Merchandise ideas (49,168)

Some things I would like to see in the Mariah Carey store: - Silver label (under 25k made) Mariah Carey collector's Barbies. One for each album. - A reproduction of the butterfly ring she always wears, the heart necklace from her early videos, and the necklace she wore a lot in 2005 and to the Hercules premiere. - New posters of classic pictures - Vinyl

Idea for MC25 (49,166)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
I was thinking there could be a concert with popular artists singing the songs from Mariah's debut album. If no network will buy it, they can sell it to Netflix. It can even be shot at the Colosseum or wherever her residency is, if the residency does happen. Some of the songs sound a little dated but I think the younger artists can pull them off. Vision of Love - Leona Lewis There's Got to Be a Way - Alicia Keys I Don't Want to Cry - Kelly Clarkson Someday - Beyonce Vanishing - Christina Aguilera All in Your Mind - Colbie Caillat Alone in Love - Rihanna You Need Me - Jessie J Sent From Up Above - Ariana Grande Prisoner - Taylor Swift Love Takes Time - Mary J Blige

Bill / first album (49,089)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
The first Mariah album I ever heard was Music Box and it was in 1993. My aunt had the CD and I used to go over to her house (next door) almost every day to listen to it. She knew I loved it, so she eventually gave it to me. The first one I ever owned new was Daydream. I still remember the day I bought the cassette tape, I was so excited. I went home and played it on repeat while reading the lyrics and staring at the pictures until it was bedtime. Her voice was so perfect and angelic to me, listening to it felt magical at the time. I had seen some of her other videos, Someday, Emotions, Make it Happen, but I didn't know it was her because she looked different. The next one I bought was Unplugged and my best friend in 7th grade gave me the Christmas one for Christmas. Then I bought Emotions in 8th grade. I actually didn't buy the first album until I was a freshman in High School in 97-98. Daydream and all the ones after it I bought on the day they came out. Bill and Abraham I opened a Twitter account a few months ago, to follow MC, my handle is @DoveValentine83 if you want to follow me. I'm new to Twitter so there's not a lot on it, but that way we can keep in touch.

Thanks Marcus. And you're right, I was rude. I've been reading comments everywhere that are so negative and I guess I let them get to me. It seems like some people do create accounts just to be downers. But Amber maybe you weren't doing that and I just assumed, so I do apologize for being rude to you after your first post.

When people pick apart every single decision Mariah makes and focus only on the negatives in every single post, they are not fans, no matter how hard they try to convince everyone that they are. I'm not saying people need to be positive 100% of the time but some people never have anything good to say. Yes, they have the right to any opinion they choose, and they can keep being as negative as they want as much as they want, but every single time I'm going to counter with my opinion too. If you don't like it just don't read it, it ain't that deep. (Side note: when I mentioned "so-called fans" I was not writing about Amber, even though the post was directed at her.)

Of course you have the right to post your point of view but I also have the right to disagree. I'm not going to get into everything you wrote but for example: "I believe Mariah has only one more chance to 'slay'/have a musical 'moment' in the industry." This lack of belief in her is negative IMO. And "Mariah has little friends, and the people around her don't give a rats tail about her." How do you know how many friends she has or how they feel about her? The back up singers have been with her since her first album, she keeps hiring them back so they must have some sort of bond or relationship. Regarding your other post: We all work to make money. Sometimes we don't feel like it but we drag ourselves to work anyway because it's better than laying around feeling sorry for ourselves. If we like our jobs it's not as bad having to do it. I have a feeling Mariah likes her job a lot. Nobody is making her work and if she really didn't want to, she wouldn't. She's 44 years old with 25 years in the business. Everyone accuses her of being a diva so she's obviously not afraid to ask for what she wants. I highly doubt two or three nights a week for a couple of years is going to ruin her. I would just rather focus on what could go right. We don't know who she's going to hire or how it's going to be. TECS was obviously low budget but that doesn't automatically mean the Vegas show will be.

Thank you for creating an account on here to try and dampen everyone's mood with that negative message. It's not over until we die. As long as she's still breathing, she'll have a lot more musical moments and chances to shine. She just got divorced, of course she's lonely. A lot of people are lonely. But she has friends, her family, music, pets, and her loyal fans (for life), she'll be okay. On a side note: I can't believe 23 people liked post 49,020. Where am I and who are you people? It reads like the "so-called" fans want her to retire already.

Mariah's sister (49,061)

Isn't Star Magazine a tabloid? Most of what they print is not true anyway. They print stories about the Lochness monster. MC wouldn't let her niece and nephew become homeless. If this story is true, why didn't AC try to get in touch with MC through their mom? Going through a tabloid is kinda low, like airing your dirty laundry. MC is such a private person too. AC should have given that letter to their mom to give to MC. If their mom isn't talking to her either, that's the saddest part of this story.

Re: "New album" (49,058) by Justin (49,059)
by Dove from USA

Justin not sure if you were referring to me, but just to be clear, I think MIAM is a masterpiece and one of Mariah Carey's best albums. When I said, "If she has a good album, release it now", I wasn't trying to say MIAM wasn't good. I just thought it was too late to promote it at this point but maybe it's not. Artists are always saying they write a lot of songs and choose the best ones. Since MIAM just came out I didn't know if she had written enough "good" songs for a new album yet. If she did start promoting MIAM again, and the show was all the songs from that album, I would be really happy.

Live singing (49,045)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
In my last post I meant to say, "If she does it right and hires the best people, you're going to feel like you're in somebody's dream." Hopefully she hires the guy who did Celine's show. Mariah's new songs are just as good, albeit different, than her older ones. Every era we've practically gotten a new singer because Mariah's voice, sound, and direction has evolved every three albums. There is a lot of room for creativity and versatility. I see these Vegas shows as more of an experience than just a concert. I've said it before, when Mariah sings any song live, my soul feels like it's soaring. I love when she sings live too, so don't shoot me for saying this, but if done the right way, I think lipping is okay. In Vegas, the venues are smaller so her face is not going to be plastered on the giant screen all night. When you're in the audience, you really can't tell if it's lipped or not. I do think she should record a new live track to lip to, instead of the CD version, because that would make it more believable. I want to believe in the "dream" concert and if she has to lip some of the harder songs, I'm okay with it, as long as it's believable.

Vegas residency (49,044)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
I don't understand why some of us are talking about a Vegas residency like it's a consolation prize. You have to be a really big star to be offered a residency. If I were a singer, I would prefer it over going on tour. When people tour they're mostly on a bus, on a plane, or in a hotel room. It''s not like they actually get to experience the places they're playing at. A residency means that you're a big enough star that people will come to you. Plus, like Bill said, they go all out. It's not going to be some cheap, rinky-dink, second rate, little concert. You're going to feel like you're in somebody's dream. I like going to Vegas with my friends every few years to just be an adult. You can see a show or two, they have really good restaurants that most kids wouldn't appreciate, you can gamble and drink. I'm not a gambler or a drinker and I pretty much only do those things when I'm in Vegas. Mariah doesn't seem to stay doing the same thing for too long so I doubt she'll do it for longer than a couple of years. When her kids start school she'll probably want to go back to New York.

Bill / Celine (49,043)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
Thank you Bill. I'm not a huge fan of Celine either. I knew her hits that played on the radio, and I can appreciate that she's up there with Whitney and Mariah as one of the best vocalists of our time, but I've never closely followed her career. I was planning a trip to Vegas (I turned 21 in 2004) and saw that she was going to be there, that's why we went. Now that I think about it, that was probably the best concert I've ever been to, also.

Pink and gold (49,014)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
I like the way they sung this song and I really like how these colors look on MC. I like this dress a lot but would love it more if it didn't have the cape and instead she had a pretty gold butterfly pin on the strap. I would also love to see her in the red dress Marilyn Monroe wore in How To Marry A Millionaire but in this shade of pink. Maybe when she sings Hero or another ballad. I like these dresses when she sings ballads but not so much when she sings up tempo songs. For the up tempo songs I'd like to see her in dark wash skinny jeans and gold Reebok freestyle hi sneakers, with this shade of pink one shoulder shirt. I think it would look good with a gold headband, the kind brides use. It's appropriate because she's a queen. And of course the gold glove.

A new vision (49,013)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
Nathan and Jake, I reject your vision. I like mine better. Positive thoughts are magic and so is Mariah Carey's voice. I envision a breathtaking show, the kind that when you leave, you're walking on air like you just came back from visiting heaven. At every show her mood, voice, hair, face, makeup, body, clothes, personality, sound, songs, song arrangements, set, energy, background singers, band, dancers, audience, the images on the screens, etc. are perfect and like a dream. It's a full house every night and tickets sell like Coca Cola. It is not career suicide, and anyway she's already established longevity. It's reported that it won't start until the end of the year. In the meantime, if she has a good album ready, she should release it and go all out in promoting it. If she doesn't already have an album then release a 2001-2014 compilation album and promote it heavily until the shows start. For an artist like Mariah, even if everything goes wrong and her stock falls, it's eventually going to bounce back up when nostalgia hits. I agree with the people who said to assemble an A+ team, like she had in the 90's and during TEOM, and bring her A game. The world is ready.
