AI said MC's chord progressions have a modal mixture departing from the core chords of the song's key to borrow chords from parallel mode. What does all of that mean? Can you give me one MC ballad from each her albums that has a similar chord progression to help me understand? I listened to the snippet with headphones and it is not bad at all. Back to chart obsession (110,516) by jaker20 from US It's like clockwork in this forum. I love Doja but collabing with her just to chart is pretty desperate. She's likely to out-chart Mariah, but who cares, as long as HFIA is as good as Caution, I will be happy. If we hope for a chart position for HFIA, we will be disappointed. When Sugar Sweet was released, reception was extremely positive. But because it didn't chart, we don't like it anymore. The quickness lambs switch on her based on chart position is sad. She's really a victim of her own success. I love the song, love the beat, it feels like a classic. It doesn't feel out of place to her catalog like that I Don't mess. And she's collabing and she increase their profile even a little. She's in her giving era, launching careers. Mariah couldn't keep singing "SS" because Kehlani and Shenseea weren't there to support her or maybe the song is very difficult to sing. There's also a possibility that Mariah couldn't hear herself. Something inside of MC is happening when she sings. Country singer Martina McBride lost her voice in 2022 from 30 years of overuse of her voice. Sadly, I feel HFIA will be MC's last album. It has been 7 years without new music because MC can't sing her songs like she wants to with all of the riffs, runs, and belting. I want the best for MC. So I guess the Mariah now that we have is the different Mariah from what she used to be. Having the voice back then helped her in building her confidence and her issues with insecurities. Now that she lost it, don't deny it guys, she is what she is now. These record labels are not playing this August, September, and October releasing new music from their biggest artists. Doja Cat and Taylor Swift are huge streaming artists. They want a piece of the cake that Morgan Wallen and Kendrick Lamar bit off this year. MC should have been ready to drop her album in April instead of September. Oh well, this rollout has had some positives and negatives. I wish Here For It All had a video and song like Papa Don't Preach that had Madonna's True Blue's on everybody's lips and minds the summer of 1986. What a great album summer rollout. If "Sugar Sweet" had been released by Ariana or any other hot artist of the moment, I'm sure it would've taken off. Sadly, Mariah just isn't on most people's radar these days. We, her remaining fans, will always root for her, but it's becoming clear that the general public just doesn't connect with her as an artist anymore, almost as if they can't relate. That's why she hasn't been able to ride the wave of AIWFCIY into a big follow-up project. Maybe she's said everything she had to say, but until she starts singing from her heart again, I don't see anything changing. I can only name one Taylor Swift song, and that's because it shares a title with one of Mariah's, "Shake It Off". I'm not a fan of her music, even though I did give "Red" and its twenty variations a try. But when fans in non-English speaking countries are willing to camp outside stadiums for three months just to see her, regardless of promotions or record labels, it's clear she's universally loved like Mariah once was, before her diva persona took over. She's a legacy artist now, her last 11-track album came out nearly a decade ago. It's more like when Streisand or other legacy artists release something: their core fans eat it up, but that's about it. Back in the '90s, when Mariah and Whitney were killing it, did you really think any legacy artist from that time could compete with them? Exactly. So let's not pretend we're still in that era where a new Mariah release is a head-to-head chart battle. This is a completely different stage of her career. Here's what will likely happen: the album drops, us Lambs grab it immediately, and within three or four weeks, it's gone from the Billboard Top 100 albums. Mariah's waited too long, and outside of us devoted fans, most people have moved on. That's not pessimism, just a dose of realism. Here For It All (110,447) by Edward from USA I have to agree with you about her vocals sounding a bit "chipmunkey" on the belting part of the "HFIA" clip. As for that impromptu performance of "Stay the Night", it was from about five years ago, during the pandemic. At the time, she said she'd gotten her voice back and wouldn't ever tour again, but sadly, that didn't last. I don't think she could replicate those vocals today; her voice is just too far gone. Mariah is a perfectionist, so what we're hearing in the "HFIA" clip is most likely the very best she could deliver, chosen from multiple takes. Daniel Moore vs. Big Jim Wright (110,404) by Lambi from USA This is fun. Daniel worked on In The Mix, Fall In Love At Christmas, Portrait, and Type: Dangerous, which I thought are all mid. I get what you mean though. I think Moore is more encouraging to Mariah about embracing her recent voice after seeing that Mimi session. I can hear him say, "It's okay, we can lower the key here." Big Jim worked on Circles, Fly Like A Bird, Cry, and It's A Wrap, which are better songs, so to me he's a better match for Mariah musically. However, Mariah's most superior collaborator will forever be Walter. I know we share this sentiment. It's like music geniuses, match made in heaven. That was God's will. All I Want For Christmas Is You, One Sweet Day, Hero, Outside, Close My Eyes, Forever, My All are unmatched. Mariah hasn't made a ballad quite the same ever since. When I heard the title track has a mixture of gospel and jazz moments, it made me think back to her most famous improvisation moments with Big Jim Wright. I honestly believe now the 3rd single, The Clark Sisters collaboration, the Paul and Linda McCartney cover, and the Here For It All title track will be the four songs that will be the songs charting high on the iTunes chart on 09.26 and driving physical and streaming sales. I like how MC's interviews are giving us bits and pieces of information about the songs on the album. The interviews are really going to be ramped up after the Labor Day holiday. She will probably talk about the Paul and Linda McCartney cover next during interviews. We will probably get the tracklist two weeks later after the Labor Day holiday. Here For It All... so far (110,386) by Shezz from Pk So in one of the interviews she just said she will be performing 4 songs from HFIA at Sandringham. Bobby A I'm sure you caught that. I hope one of them is the title track which she said has gospel and jazz tangents. If the leaked song titles are to be believed, she wrote that with Daniel Moore. Very unlike her to perform unreleased songs at a concert, that even a festival kind. While it's taken me a while to get used to her 2025 interview energy, some of them haven't been all that bad. Excited for Alan Carr on Monday. I do hope she starts talking about the album soon, I understand she doesn't want to reveal too much about it this early but then why do all these album interviews. I suppose they're more for her to tell the gp she's doing non Christmas music and she'll probably do more in depth music ones at the time of release like that Genius one she did with Caution. I love how she was discussing her "defrosting" with an interviewer with such a straight face. While I did like TD and SS, they're certainly not up there with her more iconic singles from the 2000s. According to insiders, SS remixes are coming soon. Will be interesting if that's true. I'm glad TD is having some success on certain charts. Both the singles, though not MC singles strong, are definitely top 40 worthy for today's music. I do hope there are a good amount of songs with more mature and meaningful lyrics on the album. SS is a reinterpretation of Honey of sorts, at least a similar subject matter but Honey was written with so much more sophistication. I have made peace with her 2025 voice but she has full control over her penmanship still. I understand that she is still chasing success and numbers and that's why she released these singles hoping to grab the attention of the younger audience that drives the streaming based charts now but I really do hope she has more. Revisting Memoirs (110,361) by Bobby A from United States Obsessed was Memoirs' biggest single in the U.S. It was released about 90 days before Memoirs was released on September 28th. Obsessed peaked at #7 on the Hot 100 and #12 on the R&B and Hip Hop Songs charts. Also, it peaked at number #1 on two dance charts. Despite the success of Obsessed, Memoirs struggled to have other singles that had the same success. I see one common factor that happened with Memoirs being mirrored with Here For It All. Obsessed was released too early before Memoirs' released date. We are seeing the same thing happening with Here For It All. Two singles have been released and we are still about 45 days away from Here For It All's released date. This long waiting period is just not good for launching a new Mariah Carey album. It seems like Gamma has been testing singles without a true first single to carry the excitement to drop Here For It All in a reasonable amount of time. I just hope the 3rd single is the one that will have people talking and VJ's spinning when the album drops on 9.26. I am hoping that a Bryson Tiller collaboration is the next single.
