Music Box (102,506) by Edward from USA Music Box is what I call a perfectly balanced album, 10 tracks, no waste. Even Everything Fades Away is brilliant. As I stated, MIAM have some great songs and vocal moments, but the sound is mostly dated and depressing. I hide all the knives and any pointy objects when I rarely listen to it. And let's not talk about how Marian perfectly captured Children of the Corn in Super Creepy and how she sung One More Try high on helium. Tracks I still listen too are: Dedicated (those whistles are some of her best), #Beautiful, Make It Look Good (best track), You Don't Know What to Do and Meteorite. Music Box (102,502) by Randy from USA I usually agree wit you Edward but to call MIAMTEC depressing is kinda funny. The second half of Music Box is slit your wrist fantastic. Never Forget You, Without You, Just To Hold You Once Again, All I Ever Wanted and if Sony had the balls to add Everything Fades Away it's the saddest thing since Terms of Endearment. All MC albums are sad to me. That's why I connect. I think MIAMTEC is her worst album but not because it's depressing. It's incoherent and her vocals sound like they were produced by AI. Music Box (102,501) by Edward from USA I can assure you we all here supported her by buying the album, but put your feet on the ground and realize that MIAM didn't connect with the general public. The constant pushbacks, the messy rollout, fans are not to blame. Yes, there were some great songs and vocal moments, but the album is depressing and overproduced. I bought one for me and gifted one, I bought the singles and remixes, but I have rarely listened to the album since its release. While Caution didn't have any vocal moments, it's far superior, in my humble opinion. If you don't grow with your fans, you lose them. Her remaining fans can make much difference at this point, don't put that on us. We've been here patiently waiting for five effing years for new music, we've been supporting any hyped-up half-cooked new songs she puts out every now and then. She gave us vocals, musicianship, glorious melodies, hit songs, true R&B songs. Everything Mariah stands for and we all collectively paid it dust. May we support her next endeavors. I miss albums (102,477) by Edward from USA I totally agree with you. Having an album, a theme, the lyrics on a carefully crafted CD insert was simply a pleasant journey. I remember rushing home with the Butterfly CD still unopened in in my hands. The anticipation felt like having butterflies in my stomach, such a surreal moment, at least for me. I miss albums (102,472) by Randy from USA Edward, I get your single idea but it breaks my heart. I feel like an album wouldn't benefit her in this current music industry. But how I miss the anticipation. I miss it being a project. Having a theme. I know it's for the nostalgia but remember waiting outside of Sam Goody or Tower Records? Remember struggling to get that plastic tape off the top of the CD? We don't get liner notes and pictures anymore. It's just sad. Imagine if movies weren't a thing and you just got a scene at a time. While you can find a few athletes here and there who have cheated, many of them have been found out sooner or later, they've been ridiculed and many of them have been stripped of their "accolades", but that's not the majority, that's why there's a system in place for that. When a singer cheats here and there by lipping, most people don't care as long as you still can sound decent or justify the money you're getting by putting on a good show. Fans shouldn't be taken advantage of just because they're loving fans, they should be respected just the same way the celebrities in question are respected by then. According to your fine logic, just because Mariah has gotten lazy and doesn't give an f nowadays, we should just sit and take it lying down just because she once gave us some great music. No, no and no. She's known for not even doing like doing her own sound check, wtf. Any person who have gotten to a point where they know they can't do their job decently, should retire with dignity, period. But I think it's not that Mariah can't do her job decently, I think that she doesn't want to put in the work to get that outcome. Her pretty caked up face won't just cut it. At least not for me. This comparison is absurd and not valid. To become an athlete successful until their late thirties commits endless practice and everything in between. Mariah is an artist in music, what she wants to put in it and what she she wants to sacrifice is completely on her own terms. Mariah has got lazy, and will only bring to the table what is least expected by her. I think this is a natural thing of hers, her rebellion self, not wanting to push herself to the extreme to make people, and her Tommy Mottala ex, to love her. Mariah has made it her absolute most important point to make, that she just doesn't care, she wants to do her thing, and nothing else. If we, as her fans, would have directed her career, it would have been very different, still making Mariah sing songs in the key of "Music Box" and "Daydream". Yes, I would have loved it. But as a person who also have been "directed" by people outside, the most important and validating thing is to finally experiance that you are your own queen/king. You have brought the soundtrack to my life, the most important artist that I can think of. Nothing can change anyting, you are the love of my music life, I love you Mariah. See, my point was that my grandmother's birthday celebration was my priority that day, not MC or her fans. I'm old enough to know that there are more important things in life than pleasing complete strangers, like MC, her fans, and her now disqualified non fans. That's why I don't post often, everything you say here can and will be used against you by someone who knows nothing about you for some seriously randomness reasons. It's good enough for me that I send positive thoughts to MC all the time, including on her birthday, even if they are not all typed for you guys to read and pick apart. They retire in their late thirties because it's well documented that their bodies are worn out by that age and could actually get hurt if they keep doing it. Michelle Kwan, one of the most loved and awarded figure ice skaters, retired at 26, most in that sport are done by 30. Singers are different. While they're not expected to sing perfectly, they can sing decently into their late seventies. The difference is that athletes can't sit their asses down and expect to win a game, they all have to practice and put in the work before every game during their entire careers. Some singers take good really care of their instruments and some just don't seem to care. You can't lip a triple Axel or a slam dunk even on a promotional presentation. Some artists sacrifice the integrity of their songs by making them too short in order to have a better chance at a hit. Could it be a jazz or gospel album? Maybe a dance album? Billboard just announced that Warner Bros is launching a dance label. This is a genre that MC has had a successful track record for 30 years.
