L.A. Reid (53,913) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter I'll try to not rant about L.A. more, but I just have to say, at this point, I don't really trust L.A. Reid anymore. He is trying to turn Mariah into something she is not. I don't know what went down at IDJ but they did give #Beautiful a good chance. The radio deal, the official video (albeit questionable), and the alternate Spanish version video was released on time, remixes were being churned out one after another and a remix video was in the works but unfortunately the accident happened. After that, MC delayed the album a few times and then settled on a date which happened to be around the time Kanye was going to release his much publicized album. I guess that's were things went sour that they couldn't handle two big releases at the same time and MC probably didn't like it. But even still YM(E) had good promo (radio wise) and remix timings along with two (again questionable but timely) videos to accompany them. The only thing missing at that point were the TV promotions and a good management for her image. I was initially really happy with her move to Epic, but I don't think L.A. really has a good plan for Mariah. Most of the work is being done by her management/publicist eitherways. Re-releases (53,911) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Trish, I am with you about the re-releases. I don't even care for another Christmas album. Really I think it's quite impossible for MC, or anyone else for that matter, to live up to the monster hit the first Christmas album became. I mean, I don't think even Mariah knew she's creating what will eventually turn out to be a holiday staple. Plus hasn't the original been re-released many times? I'd much rather she focus on a new commercial album. She is taking up way too much for November-December schedule. A movie, Beacon Shows, other annual shows she usually gets invited to perform at and so on. I think she should rather start mapping out her next album after the July Vegas leg and take time writing and recording and this time actually set out proper promo strategies. Enough with the re-releases. Honestly I might have to give L.A. Reid a call and ask him where his head is at. He must be crazy to let Mariah's milestone year pass by like this. J.D. or L.A.? (53,907) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Look everyone calm down. J.D.'s comment won't even be that important next to what Mariah's current boss said. J.D. in a way has been left behind in 2014 and Mariah ran back to L.A. Reid because she thinks he can make 2005 happen all over again. And what does Reid say? That Mariah won't be played on the radios anymore, her getting another #1 is unrealistic. Is that something the record label boss say to the media? I just want to ask Reid, "Are you high or incredibly stupid?" The worst J.D's comment is going to do is paint MC as a diva, and everyone already thinks she is a diva. No one remembers that MC was known as the hardest working person in show business. So basically J.D.'s comments will be forgotten by the weekend. Mariah should knock L.A. Reid on the forehead and ask him what the heck he was thinking while making that comment. Downplaying someone's legendary status to make them sound accessible is one thing, to straight up deny that MC still has the ability to get another hit is stupid to say the least. This quote will pop up in many variations for months in different websites. J.D.'s comment next to L.A.'s is basically very vanilla. (Saturday 30 May 2015; 18:02)

Even her big performance at BBMAs didn't get a mention, so ya well. Anyways I read your other post where you mentioned "Bad blood" and I agree. The song is not good but this is Taylor's year (which started last year from the release of her 1989 album) and anything Taylor does will be eaten up by the public no matter how bleak the product is. Beyonce had the same from the release of "Beyonce" until Taylor came with "1989". Anyways, I do crave for a massive Mariah comeback. She is just so talented and such a legend, it pains me to see her legacy getting ruined. I don't want her to retire because I don't know what I will do without MC in the music industry but I sure hope she'd work on her album/single release/promo strategies a little more. Wrong timing and true friends (53,889) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Like I said before, the AI comments came at a very wrong time. Right in the middle of an image overhaul that was going really well. Calling out a show as big as AI, is not the way to go. The show is huge, has been running for years (although the charm left way back) and may hold sentimental value to many American families who watched it as a family or kids watching it and getting inspired. I'll even give Mariah the leeway of saying "pitting two women against each other was not right". But to actually say "Hell no, I'd never go back. I hated that experience, it was a nightmare" (not direct quotes) was something she shouldn't have said and now she is getting the backlash. In the process she probably burned bridges with Ryan Seacrest who works for KIIS. About JD, I stand by what I said, I agree with his views. Calling him incompetent now as a producer/songwriter is something I don't agree with. He probably wasn't a good manager, but JD understands Mariah's music. I don't think he said anything with a malicious intent. If Mariah will start dropping everyone who says anything she doesn't like, she'll be left with the wrong people. (Saturday 30 May 2015; 5:42)

Anyways about the AI comment, see you are right in a way, but I just feel like Mariah no longer needs to say anything about AI anymore. You know? Just shake it off. I mean if a dog bites you, you can't or rather you shouldn't bite it back haha. Nigel is an asshole who was trying to play the blame game. Mariah is above Idol. She doesn't need to react to someone like that. I think it would have been much better if she would have just politely dismissed it. Mariah knows she needs an image overhaul and I believe she cares enough to actually try changing things. I mean just her recent interviews show how she is trying to fix her image. She comes across as funny and sweet. The AI comment is not something she should associate her brand with at this time. The timing is just not right. About Madonna, maybe you are right but from the news I see of her, I can see she is ridiculed worldwide for still trying to act young, wearing grills, the drake kissing incident and all that. Honestly, I don't ask for her to be spotless and wholesome. I don't mind her glamorous, slightly over the top image. I have no problem with her saying "dahlin", in fact I actually like it, I don't mind her criticizing her own videos too. But I did think the AI comments weren't necessary especially at a time when people were warming up to her. I also do think that sometimes she rubs people the wrong way. Now no one can be perfect, I'm just saying, I was rooting for the Mariah we have been seeing giving those interviews in Vegas. About Madonna, I don't know where you are checking Madonna news but everywhere I see, people are making fun of Madonna back and forth. Calling her old, desperate and sleazy. Madonna gets a lot of hate too. Mariah isn't the only one. Same happened to Michael and Whitney. So it comes with the legend status. (Friday 29 May 2015; 21:30)

American Idol backlash and Jermaine (53,855) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter I think MC made a wrong move by calling out AI. I get that they played her and she was in many ways used as a pawn to get publicity but it has been 3 years now, I think when asked about Idol, she could have just taken the politically correct route and said something like maybe "It was a new experience for me, but maybe it's not something meant for me." I know a lot of people here will now say that Nigel blamed her for its demise, well no one took Nigel's words seriously and all the articles where he made those comments were filled with remarks from readers like "AI was dead long before the MC-NM drama" and all. No one apart from Nigel thought MC was responsible. But now with MC making such a direct remark on such a big show is causing her a lot of backlash. People are literally reading her to filth. I feel like after all the image cleansing MC was going through, this comment by her caused a lot of damage to her image overhaul. She should have been the bigger person and just politely dismissed the question. JD's comments are also something I agree with. Yes saying this on TV was not right maybe, but I have a feeling he said these to her a lot personally but she never really listened. I agree that if MC wants to remain in the business she needs to take it seriously. Things were going so good for her, I just feel that starting from the AI comments everything took a huge step back. It's one thing to criticize your own work, but in a business where image is everything, one has to be careful about what they say. Also about the whole "MC has earned her respect long time back, she doesn't need to get it anymore" attitude is very wrong. Earning respect and maintaining it is what matters. People nowadays have almost no respect for her. A lot of it has to do with her behavior on big shows - talk shows, radio shows and all. She can unleash her humor in places where it's between her and her fans but in shows seen or heard by the majority of the population it is crucial to maintain a certain image. Anyways, I felt pretty bad by what is going on for the past few days. I thought this era would be more organized. It started of real well then started fluctuating. Now it's a semi mess with still no video out. No word on remixes. How can they let a song die out which is sitting in the same list as her biggest hits? (Friday 29 May 2015; 20:15)

I wonder if they'll give any announcement prior to the video release or they'll just drop it and tweet about it. I hope they don't decide to release it after uploading her commentary on the videos of all her 18 #1's. Then it'll be too late and it will be like trying to revive a dead body that has been dead for weeks. Anyways the whole video release situation has been a mess. Thoroughly disappointed because had it been released on time, the video combined with her amazing performances could have shot the song up the charts. I can't fathom how Epic was so disorganized. Mariah seems pissed about it too, but I won't exclude her from the blame because she could have pushed them to shoot the entire video earlier and just left the Vegas part for later. We were given the impression the video and single was ready the time MC and Brett called into the radio show months back. Then there were rumors of her apparently pulling some stunts in the video. Which would have been fresh and exciting. Lol I wonder if MC changed the video because Taylor Swift stole her intellectual property and put it for "bad blood". Damizza's crap story (53,760) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter I wouldn't be concerned about it. He hasn't been in touch with Mariah in over a decade, he has no clue about her personal life anymore. Plus he probably exaggerated a lot of crap. Mariah is a private person, being private doesn't mean she is isolating herself. Plus can one really blame her if she really was isolating herself when she is constantly being sold out to the media by people she once called friends or trusted? Damizza got to know Mariah during a time frame when she was going through a big life change and her career slump during the Glitter era. So I wouldn't be surprised if Mariah really wasn't in socializing mode at that time. However now she is a mother, she is in a good place and her career is still relevant. I am sure she has her life figured out unlike a middle aged man who is irrelevant, immature and sleazy enough to sell out an old friend. Anyways, like I said, he doesn't know about her personal life in over a decade. A lot changes in just a few months and so there is no doubt MC's life has changed a lot in all these years. Although he didn't say anything that would paint MC in a bad light, if he really was a good friend, he would have just kept his mouth shut. I hope people notice the good things in the article though about how Mariah did not put in the crazy "don't look at her, don't talk to her" clause in the contract. Anyways, Damizza can go to hell, I don't care. What I find interesting in the article is Michael Jackson kept coming and talking to Mariah between performances. How amazing would it have been if they actually dated. They'd be the music power couple. The King of Pop and the Queen of Billboard. Come on. Plus them collaborating on a song, I could just die. Every time she appears on TV, the song and the album starts climbing the charts so it definitely has potential. I do want her to get some family time, but just saying, that she'll be free for a month so maybe she can squeeze in some promotions. And Mariah get that damn video out already. I am just saying that few days back I was all about the "MC has to get more #1's and whatever", I mean I kept focusing only on her chart performances. I still want her to have that and I don't want anyone to reach her current records, especially the record of most #1's and the 16 week run of OSD. What I meant in my last post is that I am now looking at the bigger picture and I will be fine if the #1's don't happen. But of course my love for Mariah will always make me hope that she beats The Beatles and shut more people up. I'm just trying to be more patient with her now that she is delivering from her side. I think Infinity could have been a bigger hit if she was not tied up in Vegas. Because then she would have more free time to promote it and we have seen that every time she performs it, it shoots up in the charts. So while I am trying to be patient with it, I have been checking out other MC videos which look similar to the snippets (both video and pictures) that we've gotten so far. So I check out WBT again (this video is timeless). The picture she posted in front of the huge ornate mirror in the hotel room, wearing a bathrobe and the scene where she gets into the car and the guy helps her in and then runs to the driver's seat are scenes that reminds me of the scenes from WBT (the part where she is putting on makeup infront of a mirror which was also shot in a hotel and the ending where Miller helps her into the car). The door opening scene is of course very TMB. The scenes of her in front of the vanity mirror with lights give me a little WBT, ILT and ISIL vibes. I can''t wait to see the full product. Mimi in Vegas (53,687) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter It's funny how before she started her shows, the whole world was so sure that midway her residency will be cancelled and every article printed from the time she announced her residency, up until the opening night had a certain para with something along the lines of "meanwhile tickets for Mariah's Vegas residency are having sales way below expectation" or "her Vegas residency tickets are have disappointing sales" and the moment she got on stage on the first night, people just had to sit down and shut up. Her shows are sold out, she sounds amazing and now instead of being cancelled, her shows are being extended. Then it's also hilarious how Wendy's poll (even though it's a small example) showed how the vast majority chose Mariah over Britney (Britney's votes were less than half of Mariah's) and JLo got only one vote. I think due to the content of the song, it would be best if she collaborates with a female artist (getting their women empowerment on), but I want to know which artist (male or female) would you like to be featured on the remix? The current adventures of Mimi (53,682) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter This is such an amazing time to be a lamb. We all have collectively gone through a very disappointing few years (not because of her musical ability, that is flawless) due to various things going wrong in MC's professional life and eventually her personal life. We all struggled with her and we alternatively supported her and complained, but now we are being rewarded. Mariah is finally giving us everything we have been wanting, one step at a time and I couldn't be happier. She is in great shape vocally and her live performances are getting better with each show and she is slowly getting back her onstage confidence and taking risks, improvising as she goes. The world is again in awe of this amazing voice of an angel. She deserves every praise she is getting. Sometimes when I look at the comments below her articles being mean and harsh, I used to feel bad but now I don't care, because there will always be haters, even for the most popular current star. I don't care because Mariah is giving it her all, coming with guns blazing, and nothing else matters. She is receiving critical acclaims left and right. I love her new personality, its not a drastic change. She is still the same MC, but with a few tweaks here and there, keeping the humor at right level, professional responses in check, sounding more human (less untouchable diva) thanks to her interviews detailing how she has suffered. I really have no complaints about her at the moment. Yes, if she would get a better stylist, I could die in peace but as of now, if this is the trade off (great performance vocally and her current persona over some questionable fashion choices), I will happily overlook the fashions faux pas. I won't even complain if she doesn't get a lot of commercial success right now. I can see that from her side she did everything, so I will be happy with whatever is the result. Do I want another major comeback? Yes of course and few days back I was going on and on about how I need MC to be back on the charts, but now I am fine if it doesn't happen. Our girl gave it her all. This is not to say that she can't have another huge comeback. I think she is more than capable of getting huge success, and can really show the current lot who the boss is. I just want to thank Mariah for making the changes she did. A little change goes a long way. Look at what her image had turned into just 365 days back and look at her now. Keep slaying them Mimi.
