While the general public Gen Z may not know but this group is in the music industry. So they should have more knowledge about icons from their industry. Even their peers like Tyla, Tate McRae etc all were hyped for Mariah.

It doesn't surprise me that they didn't know. A lot of Gen Z's can barely keep track of anything with the overload of information constantly coming at them. Here in New York, schools actually banned cellphones during class hours, and even the students admitted they were better off without them. Back when things were simpler, kids were more connected and social, now it feels like they're living in a cloud. These days, it's the phones and tablets raising them, not real interactions.

Help me there’s stairs (111,062)

To be honest on the contrary. I think the younger generation is just saying she's an unbothered queen, who gets her checks doing the bare minimum which is goals. I see most comments saying only Mariah can stand there and do nothing and make it look legendary. I think the general public especially the younger people are quite nonchalant about it.

Is it the medications? Or sequelae from her fall when she dislocated her shoulder? Sometimes I feel it's Mariah not Céline who has the stiff syndrome. Unfortunately, the young generation will probably tell her she's too old or just being a diva, while there's a real issue here.

KATSEYE was asked at the VMAs red carpet about their favorite Mariah song and none of them could name 1 song. Just 1 girl was like (My All) and the rest were like so confused and one girl asked the girl who named the song to give her a title as well. Now I don't know this group well, but apparently they're popular but for them not to know a single song by the legend that is Mariah Carey is insane. Like I don't expect them to know her full catalogue but if nothing else at least say AIWFCIY. And there are so many viral Mariah songs on TikTok. Also you're on a red carpet where she's winning a major award, you should have been more prepared to answer that question.

Y'all crack me up, I love MC but I didn't like the ensemble either. It was too Beyonce and too sparkly for me. I would have preferred a nice gown with heels. Also I am not a fan of the boots either haha, matter of fact I hate them. I loved both ensembles she wore at the Grammys last year though.

It's definitely not the worst outfit she wore but for such a milestone moment I expected something nicer and wish the diamond necklace was not there haha. She's so extra gotta love her. I think she looks younger when she doesn't have a huge necklace on.

Mimi L, I kinda liked the ensemble. I thought the boots were kind of clunky though. I think she looked terrific and I thought her movement was standard, she's done less movement before. My problem is (as always) that someone considered one of the greatest vocalists of all time can't seem to sing live but even then, she's miming better than in the past. Her eyes were on that teleprompter though. You could tell she was reading the whole time. That's a new phenomenon with her. She wrote these songs. She's lived with them. Hell, they're part of pop culture. She probably just needs it for the arrangement and to not miss her mouthing cues. But that hurts her interaction with the audience. Maybe, just maybe, if she'd just sing. I know I know. It was too cold in there. It was too hot in there. She didn't get 8 hours sleep. Her humidifier quit without giving two weeks notice. She has nodules. But overall I was still able to hold my head high as a fan. At this point I'm glad for just that.

I agree the outfit was not it hahah. And the performance was ok, very little movement. I wish she had the confidence she did in the other recent show, I can't remember what event it was, the one with the long ramp where she was walking up and down and interacted with a child. She seemed more relaxed there.

Really happy she got the best RnB video as well. Performance was pretty much as expected. I'd give it a 7. I wonder why they cut it down to 5 minutes from the usual 10 minutes given to the Vanguard performance. I'm sure Mariah wasn't complaining. Best part of it was of course her interaction with Ari. The body suit era needs to end though. A nice short dress would've been more flattering. All in all another good promo for the new era. I think she'll be so done with the promo when the album finally comes out.

Ugh I love this for Mariah and Ariana. What an honor for Ariana to present a milestone award to someone she looked up to since she was a kid and someone who clearly shaped her musical career. And what an honor for Mariah to have someone like Ariana, who is one of the most sought after pop stars of this generation, to be so overtly gracious and complimentary of her. Melts my heart to see them be friends now.

Congratulations MC. I loved the speech and her little plug for her album at the end. Smart move because the VMAs had huge viewership last night. Also so glad that Ariana gave the award to Mariah. Finally someone currently and at the top of their game giving Mariah an award. I saw the speech but anyone has a link to Ariana presenting it? What did she say? I would love it if someone can provide a link or tell me what she said to announce Mariah.

Ahhahaha I mean I would too want to have a team fussing over me if I was as talented and famous as Mariah. The general public doesn't understand that her diva antics is somewhat of a defense mechanism and also a bit of an act so they get put off. Which is why I hope the Kai Cenat interview portrays her in a more humble light to the general public.

I remember back in the The Breakfast Club interview in 2014 Mariah had someone fixing her hair, I thought it was funny. It must be fun being a diva. I know if I was a male Mariah or another Bruno Mars I would have my stylist fixing my hair, fanning me off and bringing me lots of sweet tea and lemonade during interviews haha (just kidding). I loved her outfit on Kai's interview. She looked professional and like a boss. As grateful as I am she's still with us it makes me sad she's getting older.

Another thing I remembered of her being very humble in this interview is that when she came in she pulled her own chair, didn't make a fuss about lighting and angles and just was very chill. No makeup artist or hairstylist running in and out fixing her hair.

I think the fact that it was so chaotic made Mariah be more engaged haha. Because she had no idea what's coming next and so she was paying attention. In normal sit downs she gets bored. Also I'm not familiar with the streaming world but I think they keep looking at the screen because they are constantly getting alerts, donations, prompts, questions in the chat etc so they're managing the stream and keeping their audience engaged in real time also ensuring the technical side of things are running smooth. So that's why it's so chaotic. I think he was very respectful of Mariah and so were the other guys in the back. She looked like she felt appreciated. Of course they don't know her catalogue as well as we do so they'd appear a little out of touch. But yes I think she's teaming up with these streamers to widen her younger audience which is smart. This paid off more than Mr Beast.

Dear Bill, as I told Randy, I guess we're getting old. The beauty of the interview was in its messiness. Kai wasn't being disrespectful, he was being himself, messy, but authentic. I was like: can you stop with what's on the screen and focus on Ms. Carey? They were just being typical gen z's. He has 1.3M subscribers more than Mariah. The mission was accomplished.

I how informal and real this interview is. Mariah is cooped up on that low chair not giving two f***s about it. She's alert, fun and interested. Very relatable. It's obvious Gamma was taking advantage of those 13.5M subscribers, who wouldn't? A well-deserved A+ for Mariah.

I have another random thought, isn't it funny when Mariah made supposed WBT clones back to back a lot of lambs were hating on them for being "clones" but now I see so many people say "I wish she would make another WBT". Not necessarily on this board but it's amusing.

I have noticed that too. It's like we all knew 2025 would be the start of a new era. Bill, Dove, Lighty from China and Libra Lamb are back. We welcomed this year Giovanni, Lambi, and Baby from Dreamville. T is posting more this year. Randy came out of hibernation. Stacey makes me laugh. Terna and Shezz are great analysts. Mimi is our Tamron Hall with her great insight and commentary. Zachariah is my best friend now. Edward looks for my Saturday post to refute my claims. Lol. I don't want the number #1 slot at the end of the year. I want another board member to be #1. We are all family in the land of Mariah Carey.

Super Bowl (110,871)
by Lambi from USA
| |

Mimi L, I thought about that too. And she actually did come close to a Super Bowl-esque gig in 2005. She did the NFL Thanksgiving game. She used it as a launchpad to promote DFAU. The whole thing felt haphazard though. The whole drum line theme was a mismatch to SIO and DFAU. It was too slow and dry. Plus, she just lip-synced (badly) over the original tracks. She was rather sick, but it was definitely a missed opportunity.
I wish she had taken the event seriously and gotten more sleep, it was such a huge production. I know Mimi, at this point, was trying not to cement herself in the 90s, but a quick medley of her up-tempos would've gone so hard. The NFL might've been testing her and possibly considering her to be the main act for an actual Super Bowl halftime show. And I think she failed, as she was never invited to be back on the main stage again. Well they sorta did last year for a Christmas number, but it was basically a pre-recorded music video, and it was obviously only for clout because it's her season.

Ya no Superbowl for Mariah. Her perfect opportunity would have been during TEOM era when she was feeling herself and on fire. But now she wouldn't have the stage presence to command such a huge stage. She definitely has the set list to perform but I don't think it's a pressure she wants or needs right now.

I'm a no on Mariah doing a Super Bowl performance. I just think she's past her prime and I don't know if she could deliver vocally. I think it would be a risk and any mess up would just be more ammo for haters. We're still recovering from that disastrous New Year's Eve performance so the last thing Mariah needs is negative coverage of a bad performance. Let Taylor Swift do it.

Did anyone else listen to this interview from Power 106? Mariah definitely did *not* say she regretted not dating Tupac. The interviewer decided to take creative license and interpret the exchange that way. The just of what Mariah said is that she was star struck by the fact that Tupac knew who she was when they bumped into each other at the 1996 AMAs.

J. Valentine said that Here For It All was "fire" and "jammin". Based upon these song titles, he seems to be correct. Some of the titles are MC's most unexpected song titles like Confetti and Champayne, I Won't Allow It, In Your Feelings, and Reprimand. MC is making a statement and we are not ready. Anyway, I bet My Love is on the same level as Without You. I listened to Paul McCartney's version and I bet MC did her thing vocally. I am so excited for Here For It All.

The video for H.A.T.E.U. is also shockingly bad. I was even more chocked to find out that Bret Ratner directed it who directed her more iconic videos. The bathing suit is so unflattering, I can’t believe she let them put her in it. There is no way she selected it. But again, looking low-budget for a high caliber director.
It bothered me so much, because I absolutely love love the song. This happened a lot in the 2010s, solid songs wasted by bad videos. #Beautiful is another one.
