About Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter:

Next single (109,243) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I know it's premature to talk about this but I have been hearing rumours that the next single is going to be a ballad type duet with Anderson .Paak. There are a few reasons I don't think that's a good idea.

- It's the TEOM cloning all over again which tanked E=MC2 and her future releases for trying to do the same format. I think her next single should still be another uptempo song. A fresh new sound like T-Dang. It's summer so let it be fun and something people can enjoy and feel uplifted. Some catchy lyrics, a strong chorus (Sabrina Carpenter dominated summer with her clever lyrics and choruses, the "I'm working late cos I'm a singer" or the catchy chorus of Espresso, or the digs in "Taste" and "Please Please Please" to name a few). So I think her next single should be uptempo and catchy. The general public is seemingly responding well to T-Dang not just lambs which is new and we need the GP to get success.

- I honestly think if she is releasing any collaborations as singles it should be high impact and high profile collaborators that can benefit her on the charts if she really wants those #1's stacking up. Also she is possibly in a relation with him and I think it'll be sweeter to keep it as an album track than an official single.

Those are my thoughts and 2 cents.

Change your type (109,242) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Hahah you beat me to it. She's embracing she has a thing for the dangerous men and says "I'm not afraid of love that's why I love 'em dangerous". Also I think she's just playing up a persona not saying it literally. She's in her femme fatale era.

Joseph Kahn (109,241) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Stop I'm screaming hahah that would be hilarious and would break the internet lol but JLo's ego would not allow it but can you image if they agreed to it haha. Ugh I can't wait. I hope Joseph didn't hype us up only to give us another #B video with a green screen motorcycle scene hahah I'm joking we've already got some snippets and it looks like budget was there for a good video.

Joseph Kahn (109,234) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Ok Mr Kahn is really hyping me up. He doubled down on his initial tweet about the video having an earth shattering surprise, now saying no one can guess it. And then he did another post saying he's using every last second of his deadline to perfect the video and said everyone should cancel their booty calls on Friday haha because we'll be busy watching Type Dangerous. Mimi stop playing with me.

Endurance (109,232) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
The song is a grower and I really like it now. On first listen I wasn't immediately into it but now I play it a lot and even when I'm just sitting around I'll randomly sing "hope I ain't saying too much, I like 'em dangerous" , then I'll randomly belt out "motorcycle man got that Yen for meee" and the last part where she does the "I want someone to step to me oh yes". I'm pumped for this era.

Earth shattering surprise (109,223) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Joseph Kahn said that the T-Dang MV will have an earth shattering surprise. I want y'all to chime in and drop what you think it is? So many possibilities. At this point I think this will be a 2 part video or at least a video that has interwoven storylines like Honey/Heartbreaker because it says "a film by Joseph Kahn" so I don't think that's earth shattering because both have been done by her before (it is however very exciting if she does do one of the 2). Below are some of my guesses:
1) One of the Kardashians is involved.
2) Mariah gets her previous MV men to come back.
3) She gets her exes to make a cameo hahah this will be hilarious.
4) Taylor Swift? Because of the Joseph Kahn mutual friend situation. Now that would be earth shattering but I doubt it.
5) Miss RiRi on the remix?
Ok I tried to go as far fetched as possible with the others except for #1 hahah. So I want to know what you all think.

Mariah, on fire (109,212) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Ok so BETs. Tell me why this woman looks like she's still in her early 30s. She looked absolutely breathtakingly stunning and every bit the mega star she is clad in that gorgeous gold mini dress fit for the music industry's golden girl. I liked that she was more playful with the performance, I do wish she wore more comfortable shoes so that she had the confidence to strut around by herself and strut onto the stage during the opening of the song it would have made it more fierce but I see her trying and I'll take it. I absolutely loved her second look too, she looked so angelic and pure and her speech was amazing. The little humor, her embracing her diva and extraness. This is a new Mariah era not just album wise but personally too. I also hear her team discounted the song right after BETs a smart move. I'm liking how her team is handling her so far. The roll out of this era has been amazing. I can't wait for the video.

It's a film (109,203) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Did you guys see the snippet for the MV? Looks promising. I'm so pumped and Friday can't come sooner. It has nods to ILT and Breakdown. Anything else I'm missing? The ending with the guy hiding a knife behind his back, is almost like how end of ILT Wentworth Miller had a flower for her. Also the video says "a film by Joseph Kahn". Are we finally getting a decent video with possible cliff hanger like ILT?

Article: "Type Dangerous" tops this week's favorite new music poll (109,195) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
She looks straight outta Emancipation era. I wonder what the photo is about. If it's rehearsals for BETs, a promo event or if it's a music video snippet.

TD (109,174) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Ya what sounds similar to be is how Dua starts singing the first verse and how Mariah does it too but then of course the first verse eventually goes in a different direction but ya I was like where did I hear this before haha.

Letting go ain't easyyy, ohhh it's exceedingly hurtful. Haha but I agree, leave Tommy in the 90s. There's newer men to shade.

Promo and MV (109,162) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Do we know if Mariah is scheduled to be on any tv appearances and what her promo schedule looks like? I know she'll be at the BETs but any other appearance? It looks like radio is playing a quite a bit, is this something we've seen with her last few releases or is this new? For music video, what do you guys think will be her vision. Excited for her working with Joseph so I hope there's some story line. I wonder if she'll do a parody of her previous relationships or her previous music video leads because the lyrics hint at both or I might be overthinking it.
1) The one about sing sing and evil king is of course Tommy.
2) The motorcycle man had a Yen for me. Is this a hint at Tanaka who's part Japanese and had a thing for motorcycles or is it her male lead in Sweetheart or even Miguel in #B.
3) The computer nerd has to be TMB unless I'm missing something haha.
4) The man in construction moving pounds through customs. Is it James Packer or Wentworth Miller (WBT/Prison Break because his character was a structural engineer in think in PB). Some people say the moving pounds through customs could be Tanaka too because apparently he was detained in Brazil. I haven't heard about this before though
5) "Said we'd be together, but you didn't stay forever. Now I guess it's just whatever 'til the twelfth of never." This is probably Nick because Mariah was super in love and thought it's forever and "twelfth of never" probably because he has 12 kids

So I wonder if she'll do a parody like that which would be hilarious. Or if it'll be more touching and looking at the camera hahah just joking.

TD (109,155) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Is it me or does the starting of TD sounds a bit like Dua Lipa's Levitating? For a while I was like what does this remind me of haha. But just the first.

Confirmed: Mariah is making history (109,154) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
100% agree. A No No to date is a favorite of mine. It feels like a fun sister to SIO. That song had so many fun moments and quotable viral worthy lyrics like "snakes in the grass it's time to cut the lawn, Ed Scissor hands aka I cut you off". I love it and I love the whistles she did in one of the remix at the end. It's super catchy. I think Mariah really wanted Cardi on the remix. But ended up with Shawni and Stefflon Don. With a hot feature and more promo that song had a lot of potential.

Confirmed: Mariah is making history (109,135) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Agreed. The saddest one is SIO. That song is perfection, was sexy, fierce, clever lyrics, catchy chorus, top notch video, Mariah's revenge era confidence and so much more I'll forever be upset that it didn't get to be #1. Obsessed is another one. It was ahead of its time, it's so viral on TikTok and with the younger generation. Loverboy too was ahead of its time. The pop-y retro style is so in right now, Sabrina Carpenter has her whole aesthetic wrapped around that style. Problem with Mariah she's ahead of times and people only later realize how her songwriting was always 10 steps ahead of the music industry.

Who would have thought one fine day in June 2025 Mariah would wake up and choose violence and openly call out war on The Beatles. I'm ready for the slay. Thank God we're off the sleigh for now.

It's short because she wants to bait you in for the next singles hahah. She's like y'all talked too much so you'll get a short song bye. I'm glad you're enjoying it. So exciting to see all the positive reviews.

Type Dangerous review (109,127) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Valid points and yes traditionally that would be nice but I think it's strategic of her to keep the song under 3 minutes, most new artists are doing that for more gains. As for the last part I kind of like that it fades from that point on. I personally am not missing another chorus. My only critique is probably the chorus isn't too strong but that's fine, it's just a firestarter. I like she's taking risks. I agree about the wordy parts kind of makes me nervous like TAOLG, but I think with it having some clever lyrics like "then comes in 3 hating ass hoes" hahah and some other it might have a shot at a viral moment. I hope they have that planned.

Confirmed: Mariah is making history (109,111) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I hope this shuts down people who think Mariah isn't chasing chart success anymore and is just making music for fun or for fans. Chart success is what has been driven into Mariah since she was a teen signed on to Sony. She doesn't know any different. She is rightfully proud of her chart accolades and I am happy to see her openly just say that she wants that 20th and 21st #1. I like the new vocal Mariah that isn't afraid to voice her mind.

Type Dangerous (109,102) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I enjoyed it. Is it my favorite? No but it's a grower. I love the witty lyrics throwing shade very SIO, TMB, Migrate and ILT vibes with the shade. It's a very new sound for her yet sounds classic Mariah. I love the effort being put into the era. Starting with the Easter eggs in the DFAU remix calendar, followed by the teasers and now a full fledged lyric video with visuals. A lot of radio is also playing her which is great that she has radio deals. She signed on to a new label. I hope they promote this single and album to the max. I don't care at this point about charting but I want her to give it a good shot by promoting and pushing herself.

Collaborators (109,069) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
The idea of Mariah working with new writers excites me, one thing I hope and pray she doesn't do again is waste her time collaborating with unknown rappers/singers. We don't know when we'll get another Mariah album after this and if ever so make the album count, use her star power and pull in those A list collaborations. I get Mariah likes to give new artists chances and that's fine, maybe save it for her being featured on their tracks instead of her featuring them on her tracks.

Mariah alerts (109,061) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Mariah's promo team has been on fire right now with building the anticipation. They just posted a cryptic tweet with a bunch of emojis sayings giving you something to work on for the next 6 hours (until the single drops). The sequence of emoji is red heels, a pencil/paper, 3 women, bubble, soap, diamond, a diamond ring, a question mark and 2 exclamation marks. What does it mean?

The emojis possibly refer to this line. These lyrics along with some others have leaked. Also the song is apparently Migrate meets Caution vibes.

Taking off my coat
Clearing my throat
Certified diamonds like the songs I wrote
Hit the little girls room to powder my nose

You know the guy say he work construction
Turns out he was moving them pounds and customs

"I don't have time for the rigmarole"

I want someone to step to me (oh yes)
I want someone to rescue me (oh yes)
I've never been afraid of love (oh yes)
That's why I like em dangerous (I like em dangerous)

Driver's license (109,056) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Also lol it's hilarious the amount of music videos Mariah is in a car or driving a car for someone who doesn't have a valid drivers license. Haha here's to hoping this isn't a I Don't 2.0.

Did you all see the new photo she posted? Excuse me Miss Carey. The red lips (something she said before she absolutely avoids), the darker hair, the fierce look. She's feeling herself and taking risks. I love it.
