Mariah, I know it's crazy but you still can touch my heart (47,198)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
As long as I shall live, I'll hold you dear, and I will reminisce of our love (for you) all through the years; from now until forever, and ever, you will always be the only one. If you should ever need me, unfailingly, I will return and unburden your heart. From now until forever and ever, you will always be the only one. Never be ashamed, call my name and I'll be there. I'll reach out my hand to you, I'll have faith in all you do. I'll be there to comfort you, I'll be there to protect you, with unselfish love that respects you. I'm so glad that I found you. And after all this time, you'd think that I wouldn't feel the same, but time melts into nothing, and nothing's changed.

The Elusive Chantuese Show (47,176)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
After watching some of her recent performances, what I wish would have happened is for her to sing every song from MIAMTEC to promote it, instead of the older songs. I think most of the new songs are in her current range. Every single song is good on that album. Plus, she hasn't sung those songs much so there's really nothing to compare the performances to. I think that's what makes people sad. She could sing Camoflauge on the chaise lounge, that would be appropriate because it's a damn sad song. I wouldn't even mind if she lip synched Cry, Camouflage, and Heavenly most nights and just sung them live when she felt her voice was up to it. She likes being on a swing so she could have sung YM(E) on the swing. MILG on the piano. Maybe there's not a lot of money for a Taylor Swift style set due to poor album sales.

Live in the now (47,174)
by Dove from USA
| |

|
I watched longer YouTube clips and it wasn't as bad as the 16 second clips that were posted this morning made it seem. I think the shorter clips were the worst parts of the concert. After watching the longer clips, I was actually jealous of the people in attendance. It's not like Mariah goes on tour every year. I liked that she was on the giant screen because I hate when I go to concerts and I can't see the artist. I think a concert experience is what you make of it. You can either complain about everything or be thankful, live in the moment, and enjoy it for what it is. I love Mariah Carey, I'm thankful for everything she has given the world, and I'm not demanding anything of her anymore. I don't believe in kicking people when they're down. I'm sure she feels lousy that she can't sing like she used to, nobody needs to scream it at her, that's not the solution. You can see it in her face, she knows. Either love her and support her, warts and all, or let her go. Why waste your time and energy being negative? That's not helping anyone. To all the people spewing hate: I hope nobody ever shows you the same kindness you're showing Mariah Carey right now.

I tried to find more YouTube clips and the ones I've found are all 16 seconds and she's talking instead of singing. I'm going to hold my comments until I see and hear more footage. She looks great though and so does the set.

The point of a concert DVD? So that we can come back and revisit this era. And so the people that couldn't attend one of the actual concerts can be part of the experience too.

The Truth (47,099)
by Dove from USA

Maybe you're right, but since she is touring, I think the best thing for me to do as a fan is just be supportive. I'm not a singer so I don't know if she will ever be able to sing like she did in the 90's again. Maybe she can't. For me, if she feels comfortable and happy just giving us her best right now, that's enough for me. I think she has enough control over her career now that if she didn't feel like she was up to touring she wouldn't. She probably welcomes the distraction. The only tour clip I've seen is the Hero one and it sounded good to me. Of course not like the 90's, but still, good enough and it made me feel something.

I'm glad she's singing live. If they decide to make a DVD of this tour they can always dub the parts she's not happy with later. The blue dress is beautiful and she looks stunning in it. Also, I love the buterfly microphone.

Live album (47,055)
by Dove from USA
| |

I would like to have a good quality CD/DVD of the 1996 Tokyo concert. I had the bootleg but it was so grainy and low quality. It looked like someone recorded it with a VHS player off their t.v. when it aired over there. (Disclosure: I didn't know it was a bootleg when I ordered it.) I would still want a new concert DVD if the vocals are good because it's fun to look back. And I love the idea of an Unplugged ll.

Loverboy video (47,054)
by Dove from USA

I remember when I first saw the Loverboy video, I was like this. But I just watched it again as a woman in my 30's and it's actually not even that bad. It's a cute video and she looks carefree and pretty. I like revisiting her different eras.

Soundtrack of my life (47,047)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
MC's music has been the soundtrack to my life for as far back as I can remember. From trying to hit the super high notes in "Someday" in elementary school, watching the "Hero" music video I recorded on a VHS tape over and over while mimicking her hand movements, wearing a black tank top and hoodie with jean shorts while rollerblading in Jr. High (I even tried to do my hair like in the Fantasy video), listening to the Butterfly album on repeat on road trips with my aunt and wearing gold eye shadow like in the "Breakdown" video, dancing to Heartbreaker at the teen dances in high school while wearing a pink halter top and jeans with the waistband cut off, the first and only time I ever stole was the Glitter poster from the theater. I remember being shocked by the sexually explicit Loverboy lyrics and the sexy video. When I listen to Charmbracelet I think about when my son was a toddler and we were living in our first apartment; it's one of the few CDs I had and I would listen to it every day. Emancipation was when my husband and I were separated for a year; I used to play those tracks so loud. E=MC2 reminds me of when my son started school and I would play it on my walk home after dropping him off. Memoirs reminds me of when I was addicted to Mafia Wars on MySpace. I play the Christmas albums whenever the mood hits year round. Me. I Am Mariah is appropriate right now because it's a break up album and 2014 was the year of my divorce. I can't wait to see what her next album will be about and I hope she'll continue to release good music to commemorate the milestones in my life.

DVD/CD combo (46,984)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
Also, I looked it up to make sure, but the lyrics are: "That woman-child flailing inside was on the verge of fading." I started playing Butterfly again and it truly is perfect. I wish she would have done an unplugged album for each of her albums. When they re-release them, they should include the videos and the best live performances, so that there's a visual for each song. I appreciate when artists release a DVD/CD combos. Adele did it with the Royal Albert Hall concert, Paul McCartney did it with Good Evening NYC, Kari Jobe did it with Magestic.

Close My Eyes lyrics (46,983)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
Edward: I always thought it was "nearing the edge, oblivious I almost fell right over" that might of been an autocorrect typo. When she sings "guardian angel I sail away on an ocean with you by side, orange clouds roll by, they burn into your image and you're still alive, you're always alive" gets to me every time. It's so deep and intimate. It's poetry. When I saw that butt video I thought of that scene in the movie Idiocracy where the whole movie is a butt and it won an Oscar. What is this world coming to?

The Art of Letting Go (46,974)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
I love TAOLG because she captures the feeling of anger and despair. When you're at the end of your rope after a relationship ends. You're grieving but still trying to move on and live your life. Meanwhile your ex keeps trying to trip you. The same person who knew you the most intimately, is now acting like your worst enemy. The person who said they loved you. They act like you owe them because you used to be in a relationship with them. I love when she sings, "Baby letting go, it ain't easy. Oh cause somebody you used to know, is flinging your world around - and you know what? They watch, as you're falling, falling doooown." And at the end, the exhale she gives before she says the final line, "It ain't easy baby." Like she's just exhausted with the whole situation. At the beginning, the way she's fitting all the syllables of the big words into one line reminds me of when you're super upset and you kinda stutter when you talk. You have so much to say but your emotions are high so it fumbles out awkward. I love the music and lyrics too. Aint the way she sings certain words. It's a masterpiece of a song.

You guys are funny (46,947)
by Dove from USA

I feel like I'm on here with my brothers and sisters; the way we bicker, and pick on each other, and the shade. I miss you all when I don't come on for a while. We all have some fun-to-read posts and some more boring posts. How boring would it be if people stopped posting altogether, though? Variety is the spice of life. In other news: Whitney Houston's best performances DVD is coming out in a few months. Wouldn't it be awesome if Mariah came out with a greatest performances DVD/CD?

Just For Fun (46,942)

This astrology chart compatibility calculator has been frighteningly accurate for me with my past relationships. I did Mariah and The Rock, and according to their charts, they would not make a good long term couple. Maybe I just like him because he's a Taurus and so am I. Whenever I think about him I get flustered, I can't help it, it's happening now. I would love to see them on screen together.

KeShawn Taylor: I like making lists too, so I appreciate the thought and time that go into making them. I don't mind reading your lists. Mimi L: I think Dwayne Johnson is a hottie too. When I saw those pictures of them together; it made me think that Mariah should be with a big, buff, fine man like him. I'm getting hot just thinking about it. I know The Rock is not available but a girl can dream.

Hand movements (46,766)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
I do the hand movements too. My son laughs at me all the time for it. I always play music when I clean. I'll be washing dishes, folding laundry, or some other chore, and when it gets to a dramatic part I'll step back and get really into it and do the hand movements. My son or whoever's around will bust out laughing so then I do too. I could probably win a lip sync competition, I'm so good at it. Somtimes I sing it for real but it sounds horrible.
