About Matty from Vancouver Canada: I love music of all kinds, with R&B and pop toping my list of favourite genres. I've been a Mariah fan since Charmbraclet, there was something about that album that connects on a deep level. Other favourite albums are Glitter, Daydream, The Emancipation of Mimi, and Me. I Am Mariah.

My Favourite Mariah Songs are: The Art of Letting Go, Fantasy & Shake It Off.

My Least Favourite album is Music Box.

My most start-to-finish listened album (don't-skip-a-track albums): Emotions, Butterfly, The Emancipation of Mimi and Me. I Am Mariah: The Elusive Chanteuse.

Crave Records, to MonarC Ent. to Butterfly MC (74,369) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
I've extremely intrigued by Butterfly MC Records. This is now the third time Mariah's had her own sub-label under a major label. Crave Records was about new talent (Allure, Jakaranda,S.O.A.P.); MonarC only served to deliver Charmbracelet and The Remixes (post Mimi's 2001 breakdown), and now we have Butterfly MC Records. What exactly happened to Crave and MonarC? Can anyone fill me in on details of why these labels folded? What does everyone think the intention of Butterfly MC Records is? So interesting that only a couple short months ago Mariah claimed "no one wants albums anymore", yet today she's announced a new album this year. What's with the about-face? Don't misunderstand me, I'm living for a new album. I thought her statement about no one wanting full albums was nuts.

Re: The Art of Letting Go (74,039) (74,064) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Sadly The Art of Letting Go was the first in a series of messed up single roll outs (remember the Facebook drama and the wrong version being played, also that the song was demoted from the official second single to a buzz track). From there we get You're Mine Eternal (WBT 4.0), and I believe Mariah said she disliked working with the director for this video, certainly not one of the stronger songs on MIAM. Then the non existent drop of YDKWTD (this track deserved a hot video ah la Heartbreaker, with a Clear Water radio push agreement). Followed by the interesting release of Infinity (a song the Lambily will forever be divided on) and now I Don't and then an I Don't "remix" to bout. Each single sadly disappearing faster then it's predecessor. I feel like what I've been missing from MC is that everything she's ever done from MOIA back to her debut was telling a comprehensive story. Where as now I can't figure out what the story is. I believe there's a major story going on behind the scene, but she's not reflecting that in her art as much anymore.

Re: The Art of Letting Go (74,039) (74,063) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
I adore The Art of Letting Go. I absolutely agree with you, it's certainly one of her best ballads since Butterfly. It's got that old school sound, like Rihanna's Love on the Brain. From the stunning cover art, to the smooth vibe and way she uses her voice. Not to mention that epic crescendo at the end. Wow. Simply, wow.

Re: Mariah signing to Parkwood Ent. (73,480) (73,526) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Please Lord please let this be true. This would be the best news for Mariah in years. Maybe this will be the benefit of the Mariah/Lionel shows being pushed back. The staging will be on a whole other level. Ps. Wow, congrats to Angel's Cry. That is a fantastic Mariah ballad, and if it were the second single from Memoirs (with Ne-Yo) it really could moved. I see the video playing at restaurants that play music vids in the background all the time.

"No one wants albums anymore." Wrong, girl (73,326) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
That quote from the Showbizz411 article scares me. People do want albums. People love a good, solid, well put together album. If she truly believes this, she's far more out of touch with the music scene in 2017 then I even thought she would could ever be. Beyonce (Lemonade), Rihanna (Anti), Gaga (Joanne) had basically no massive mainstream singles from their recent albums (one each at best, I'll give it to "Work" by Ri) and these album have been massive for these artists and have stayed on the charts month after month. I think Mariah needs to do the opposite and create one masterpiece of a full length album without a single single on it. Focus on the body of work Mariah, not your mood of the afternoon.

Re: Me I Am Mariah sequencing (73,313) (73,325) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Funny you say this. This is exactly what I thought from the first listen... something is weird about the sequencing. Which was ironic because one of the many reasons Mariah said MIAM was delayed was so she could perfect the sequencing. I do love that the album starts with Cry. I agree with other posters, that it sets the perfect tone for the album and where we was at when it was released. However; this is my sequencing with single choices:
1) Cry
2) You're Mine Eternal
3) One More Try
4) Make it Look Good (single 4)
5) Faded
6) Dedicated
7) Money $*/...
8) Thirsty
9) You Don't Know What to Do (single 2)
10) #Beautiful (single 1)
11) Meteorite
12) Supernatural
13) Camouflage
14) The Art of Letting Go (single 3)
15) Heavenly (No Ways Tired/Can't Give up now)

Re: Along the lines of #89 (72,655) (72,668) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Here's my own order.
1. Migrate (Should have been the 2nd single from E-MC2. This is the first time I think Team-MC made a glaring screw up in single choices. It was charting and wasn't even a single.)
2. Through the Rain
3. Up Out My Face (Nicki should have been on the album version, one of my fave MC videos ever.)
4. Say Somethin' (Agreed, this amazing video deserved a better song.)
5. I Don't (I dislike the video, except the final moments of dress burning. A unique classy video could have gone a long way.)
6. Infinity (There's a serious disconnect between the bitter sour lyrics, and the celebratory nature of the instrumentation. The lyrics are so bitter, it doesn't make sense as the closing song after hearing her 18 number one songs.)
7. Oh Santa (The chant is amazing, but the intense whistle in the middle is way to disruptive and pierces the ear drums in a negative way, especially when it comes on in public at the mall or something.)
8. You're Mine Eternal (We Belong together/Don't Forget About Us/I Stay in Love rehash part 4.)

Along the lines of #89 (72,632) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Now that we know "I Don't" will be debuting at #89, here's the chart company it keeps. What is your order of favourites, 1 through 8, from this list? Oh Santa (#100); Up Out My Face (#100); Migrate (#92); I Don't (#89); You're Mine Eternal (#88); Infinity (#82); Through The Rain (#81); Say Somethin' (#79).

Re: Weird era (72,340) (72,343) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Sadly, I agree. I used to love being able to defend Mariah against pure capitalism and proudly say, what other global pop star do you know that writes, sings and producers their own music currently on the charts. That Art. Not to mention having so much involvement in their individual projects, down to every detail? I do love "I Don't", but there is a lot of elements of her current brand and imagry that are treading against my reason's for me identifying with this humble talented soul. (Side rant: I don't believe the dress she burred in the video was the 250K one that she possibility did purchase for the real wedding. What socially conscious person in 2017 would burn an artistic creation by Valentino worth 250K? First, he'll never dress you again. Second, I'd rather we got an auction scene, and the dress going for 500K if the case were she wanted to emotionally rid herself of it.) I think it was believed to be a good PR move by the team to perpetuate the diva imagine, but not thought all the way through. It's not a happy time for many people on our planet and it's borderline disrespectful of the struggles many people face to burn that kind of cash and artistry. I can see how that would be hard to watch for those that turn to Mariah and songs like "There's Got To Be A Way" or "Outside" for comfort.

Re: I Don't (72,013) (72,027) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
100% agree. You Don't Know What To Do absolutely could have been a lead single and even had a chance at reaching #1, especially considered it was released around the Uptown Funk era. It would have been the best second single choice from MIAM and could have reshaped that album's success. This is the sounds and direction JD needs to go in as a producer, it was a great new direction for his sound.

Re: I actually like it (72,019) (72,026) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
I agree with Mike. Andrew, you don't speak for anyone but yourself dude. Not here for your generalized delusion that you speak for all. I'm not even commenting on the song, I'm saying you don't speak for everyone. Obviously some people are vibe with the song because her label pushed it forward. Let people have their joy if they like the song.

The mouth: I Don't album cover (71,893) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
The open mouth and garter. Oh no. This is strictly about the single visuals, because I'm looking forward to hearing the full version of "I Don't".

Ok, let's talk MC's relationships (71,695) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Alright, so this whole James/Tanaka situation is kinda embarrassing for most Lambs (as a general statement). After seeing Mariah's World, I think we can all conclude that James Packer was a weird attempt at being a "power couple" opposed to true love (I believe Tommy and James served the same purpose for Mariah). This Tanaka thang, well, my personal jury is out after seeing it all on TV. (Personally, Mariah has a hell of a lot more connection and chemistry with Anthony, who is tragically no longer on her team. Stella also seemed to dislike Anthony a lot while loving Tanaka for no specified reason. Side rant: Mariah teases Anthony "I am suppose to buy you breakfast" in last weeks episode of MW, meanwhile she's buying some injured second lead dancer a full wardrobe and not sending him back home after injury like any other dancer in the world would have and should have been.) SO. Who are everyone's top three guesses as to who Mariah's top three true loves have been (if any)? I believe in order: Derek Jeter, Luis Miguel and Nick Cannon.

Missy Elliott (71,682) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Missy Elliott's new single "I'm Better" feat. Lamb is amazing. Check it out if you haven't heard it, and the visual's are amazing. Love all the pool scenes. This is a comeback single, get it girl.

Re: New song: Side Effects comparison / The Weekend (71,656) (71,658) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Ohhh. That's right, they were at Leo's party, not in the studio. I let my daydream get away from me, because I love The Weekend and his sound is so ethereal and moody, so I would love for them to do a collab. Sometimes his sound gives me vibes of a dark-Butterfly album. The layers, the lyrics, the personal connection every note. Even if The Weekend was just a producer on the track, it would crush.

New song: Side Effects comparison / The Weekend (71,652) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Yas yas yas, if this new song is being compared to Side Effects, and if Mimi's been hanging out with The Weekend and DJ Khaled in the studio this is exactly what I can for. The Disco-dark vibe that The Weekend has ushered in over the last two years is killer and I can see a great new direction coming out of this.

New single - Sunday, lets talk (71,594) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
I hope we hear something killer, fresh, exciting, number one worthy. IMO #Beautiful and You Don't Know What To Do both could have gone to number one with unique, new, different video concepts and a push on radio. #Beautiful was all over the radio in Canada, and the video was really nice cinematically (not groundbreaking). But You Don't know What To Do got nothing and it deserved it. I hope she goes in a Soul-Disco-Pop direction and less of the "Triumphant" direction. YG being on the track could be super fresh, but they should've said nothing about him being on the track and just made it a surprise. I think that announcement has made most of us nervous it's a rehash of a tired concept and genre that MC has already squashed and conquered as an original in that arena.

The Social (Canada's version of The View) (71,503) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
I'm just saying. Mimi should visit the ladies of The Social, they're cool, chill. I think they very accurately represent general Canadian views. Plus Canada generally supports MC (not nearly as much "hateration" press as in most countries I see posted (U.S and Uk for example), we're more on the Australian level), but it would be a fun and chill chat. Anyways [...] on this day in history, America. Stand up. I've been listing too Heavenly (No Ways Tired/Can't Give Up Now) for all of us.

Re: Docu-series (71,191) (71,202) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
I've really been enjoying Mariah's World, but 100% agree with you. That clip is exactly what I was hoping for: specifics about her voice, what she does to maintain, more of the creation of her music. That's the problem, Stella isn't a music person.

Trey Lorenz? Blurred face (70,058) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
I'm really curious why Trey is not in Mariah's World. And further, why the f*** is his face blurred? Anyone have insight?

B.Tanaka (69,228) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Bryan is the hottest guys Mimi has dated since Christian Monzon in the mid-2000s. Mariah is all cute and blushy around him, the way she was with Nick Cannon, Derek Jeter and Luis Miguel. I love when she's with a guy you can tell just makes her laugh.

Amazing: Mariah's World (69,129) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Mariah's World: Love. Not sure what there is to hate about this. As a general assessment it's one of E.'s most well produce programs, ever. Mariah isn't pulling the one diminutional diva bit and she's hilarious AF. JLT: Job long time, is a hilarious moment. My only question what the hell was that cardigan Molly was wearing? Seriously, a gun motif on a Cardi. MmmK.
