About Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter:

Lee (45,374) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Had Mariah done all the promo she could and then it would have flopped, I don't think people would be complaining. They would know she did everything she could and then failed. But if it seems like she herself isn't excited about her album, then one can't expect people to get excited. If it was a bad album I wouldn't feel so bad that she didn't go around promoting. I hate that such a piece of art is suffering a bad label (lowest selling) when it had the potential to do so much better. Plus like I said, Mariah isn't even responding to the frustrations of the fans. I am sure she sees all the things people tweet her asking what on earth went wrong, but she just chooses to reply to the positive ones. And then she sends out JD every month to be hanged. I don't think it's JD's fault, the man clearly is pissed with the way the album is going. At least he is communicating with the fans.

I laughed so hard at your post. I was going to say the same thing that it doesn't suit someone who is so rude in their own post to go ahead and preach others how to behave. I don't really think anyone on the board that are complaining about the promotions or lack of contact from Mariah are being rude in any way. As fans we have the right to feel frustrated, shows how we feel so passionately about Mariah's work. Something Mariah doesn't seem to be feeling currently. I am sick and tired of "she doesn't own you a dime" or "if you are pissed don't buy her music, she is so rich she would care". Well hello, I am sure she would care. This is a woman who insists on being introduced as "the best selling female artist of all time, more #1's than any other solo artist", she allegedly hung up on a radio interview when the interviewer mistakenly said 80 million albums sold instead of "over 200 million". Mariah is a legend, and the fact that now only people can say that "oh she sold 10000 more than JLo" is not fine by me. Whoever says that public exposure wouldn't translate into sales is delusional. I just want MC to atleast appear to care for an album she spent so many years perfecting. It seems like she just threw it out there and then is going out of her way to ignore anything to do with it. She is all over social media talking about life, but not one mention anything to do with the album, except for the occasional "Me. I am Mariah. Out now. Get your copy at iTunes."

Wow that's a great lyrics video. I love the clips you used. You should tweet the link to Mariah. Great job.

Well I hope everything you said in your post turns out to be true. I am fine with her waiting until she looks her best to appear in front of the world as long as she ends up coming out and promoting the album. Like you mentioned, this album will decide what kind of deal she will get if she chooses to switch labels. All the best to Mariah. Here's to hoping this album and YDKWTD gets the recognition they deserve. Just to pass time, my next choice of singles would be Faded, Thirsty and MILG (in that order).

YDKWTD and the master plan (45,319) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Where on earth is this single plan going? There is still no official audio upload on Vevo, let alone a lyrics video and the elusive music video. Where is the music video she supposedly shot with Brett in Paris? And also where's the Thirsty promo? Why on earth was it just announced a single and then bam, everyone just ran back to their caves, hiding? This single had so much potential. Secondly, at this point I just want to pick up the phone, call up JD and ask him what is the master plan that he keeps talking about. Weeks back he said that there is a plan and in music industry it takes time to put it in motion and stuff and now again he is like there is a plan and sales will build up. Ok, cool, great, but what is the plan? Tell me JD, just tell me. *shakes JD*

I'm with you on this one. Although I didn't stop listening to the album just yet, but every time I listen to it, it bugs me because such a great album is just going unnoticed. To top of it, it now holds the label of being "Mariah's lowest selling non-holiday album". It's all because the lack of promotions. If people could hear the great songs in it, this album would be flying off the shelves. Sorry I am not one of those fans who say "I don't care if Mariah doesn't sell much, I just want her music" because I think Mariah will actually stop making music after a point if she continues to have declining sales and that's something I don't want. I don't think this lack of promotion is because of dembabies because she was all over the place during AI and dembabies were even younger then and needed more care than they probably do now. MC didn't need to be everywhere, she could have just atleast visited a couple of talk shows and do some live performances. Talk about the "journey", the album, the songs. Connect with us somehow. I don't believe she sees the messages of lambs complaining, because she is always on twitter, retweeting the good things fans are saying. So it bugs me more that she is just outright ignoring the fans who are asking her why she abandoned a project she claims is so close to her heart.

For the record (45,089) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
This song is so underrated. I love how in one para she mentions some of her old hits/personal favorites. I wish Mariah does a video where she does some throwback moments of her famous videos. Like a little bit of Honey, a little ABMB, a little WBT and all those.

Hey man, yes I know about the change in Billboard rules. But thing is in this case Mariah could have re-sung the entire song and change it as much as she wants because BGK and IAW remixes were not to promote the original tracks as singles, but rather these were bonus tracks on a completely new album 5 years after the original. So basically it wasn't added to support any singles, these are basically going to be considered album cuts for Chanteuse. Could I explain myself? I don't think they are even labelled as "remixes" on the tracklist for Chanteuse. They are listed as normal songs with featured artists. Secondly she still does change up songs somewhat, if not completely, like the #Beautiful Jeezy remix where she re-sung vocals and there was another re-sung remix which wasn't released after they abandoned #Beautiful. Oh and I don't know if you know this already but there are about 2-3 completely different re-sung remixes for Say Somethin' (one with Dem Franchize Boys and the other without any guests), then there is the DFAU re-sung remix, and the H.A.T.E.U completely re-sung remix. You should definitely check those out, although you might already know about these, but just in case you didn't.

YDKWTD (45,085) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Ok so it was declared that this is the new single. Then what? Has there been any news on how she plans to promote it? Apart from the 2 Australian radio interviews? Seriously why even bother with a single when it's not put to proper use? This is the last chance to save the album, if it's even possible at this stage. But yet again, no news. What happened to the video? Why is there no talk of it? And it's becoming almost a month since the album dropped, where on earth are the proper lyrics that was supposed to be released in a special way? Ugh Mariah why.

Album art (45,078) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
The fans are coming up with much better cover arts than the label. I found this one so cute, aww. I laughed out loud because young MC is holding a pack of cigarette (like she mentioned earlier) and young or short Wale is taking a cigarette from her.

qhm (45,075) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I am with you on the remixes being horrible copy paste jobs. She gets two great vocalists in the studio and doesn't make a new song or re-record the old one. Mary J Blige sounds great but I don't understand the point of her being in the song. Like it's a song about Mariah being sassy and telling off her boyfriend, and while she's at it, threatening to crack his forehead. So why exactly is Mary in it? They should have just made a women power song or just give Mary a new verse. I also don't like the BGK remix. I am glad you liked it, but I can't help but cringe everytime Kelly goes "the whole plan was just to chill" and "she mixed something in my drink". Then there is the thing that they are clearly talking about two very different nights (MC talking about how he cheated in her house and Kelly talking about how he got "date raped" at another girl's house). So either they got lazy with the lyrics and messed it up or our boy cheated 2 different times and was confused about which one M is pissed about. Regardless, Kelly seems to think it is a legit proof that he isn't a cheater because he didn't mean to get nasty, he just went to get some shots with a girl at her house while he has a girlfriend. And also the part where MC sings "fading away" and Kelly goes "don't fade, don't fade". Ugh.

Raphael (45,064) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Yes the release date, combined with the bad publicity around Mariah, Tommy actively pulling strings to sabotage Mariah and Mariah's breakdown (or treatment for exhaustion whatever she chooses to call it), and a lot of other factors lead to the disastrous Glitter era. Otherwise it's a great album and I even enjoyed the movie. As for the glass breaking, those rumors are unconfirmed but even if it's true, I would think it's because she was basically super pissed in that era and she had many reasons to be pissed. And also like she said, she was overworked. So probably every time someone was like ok Mariah time for a shoot or interview she was probably like darn it *picks and throws a glass* lol. Ok last part is not serious.

Raphael / TRL (45,049) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I think the whole TRL thing was blown out of proportions. People are like oh she stripped there and was blabbering non sense. Well first of all she didn't get naked and many reports tried to make it sound like she did. She was almost fully clothed underneath the oversized t-shirt and either ways that was the type of clothes she wore in Glitter eitherways (hello, Loverboy?). About the things she said, it looked like she was trying to show her frustration and honestly it didn't look that serious. What worried me more was on another day she was on the streets and a reporter asked something and she started venting out her frustration and all and her publicist pulled her away. And Mariah was like "see I am not even allowed to speak" or something along those lines and that showed just how fragile she was at that point.

You guys are awesome, a personal thank you note (45,043) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Darryle, thank you. Your suggestions and the idea about using songs that first comes to mind when hearing MC's name is a great. Shelly, wow thanks a lot, that's a great list covering some of the greatest songs of her career and highlighting how diverse Mariah's music is (gosh the woman makes me so proud). Bill, thanks man, adore the songs you mentioned. She doesn't know AIWFCIY. See Bangladesh is a very small country (land area 147570 square km) with a total population of 156,497,313 people (yes), and out of these many people I think only 50-150 know Mariah. Just her name, mind you. (I might be stretching when I say 150 because I only met about 5.) The only song they possibly heard is WBT. So yeah they pretty much have no idea lol, but thanks man love the songs you mentioned. Also, the Pure Imagination remix is my in my top 5 Mariah remixes. Champagne_Slurpee, I love how you categorized the songs, will make it so much easier to ensure I chose at least one of each type of the different types of songs Mariah sang and wrote. Thank you. Antonio, thanks a bunch man, that helps a lot. Some of my personal favorites. Lastly, I would like to thank all of you for taking the time out to suggest songs. Means a lot and helped me out a lot since I had no idea which to pick and I blame Mariah since she is the most amazing artist that ever lived. You guys are great.

The cover (45,032) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I don't like it, but it doesn't bother me much, I'll eitherways just make a cover myself and use it. What bugs me though is what was the need for it? Even if there was no time for a new photoshoot why not just skip the picture all together? I mean like ITL and IBLYLT they could have just used text. This unnecessary negative attention was not required at all. I hope Mariah chooses one of the fan made covers instead.

Hey. Thanks for your suggestions. I think Fantasy is a must, however I might hold into Dreamlover for later. It's so hard to chose the right songs to try out. And surprisingly I have seen Mariah is so talented some people liked some of her songs even if they don't like that type of songs. Like for example a friend of mine really liked Cry and TAOLG which are very raw ballads and I was surprised because he doesn't like ballads at all, on the contrary he is more into the recent trends. It took me about 3 repeats to like Cry but he liked it on the first listen. Makes me proud of Mariah. Anyways so I was thinking definitely We Belong Together, Faded, YME. The rest I am open to suggestions. If anyone has any songs to suggest it will be great.

A little help (45,022) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I am trying to get one of my best friends on board the lambily express. Took me years but finally she agreed to listen and asked me to give her a few songs to try out. So now I love almost all her songs so I can't decide which to give. If any of you can name a few songs that I can suggest, it would be great. Please bear in mind she hasn't listened to a single song by MC yet so the songs I need to give her should almost hook her at first listen. So basically the more commercially appealing songs. Thanks.

Thanks man. It's not like me (or fans like me) get any fun from criticizing MC and Lord have mercy, go ahead and say that MC should behave the way JLo does in interviews but we do so only because we wish nothing but the best for Mariah. Like you mentioned, Mariah is not just a singer she is brand which includes her attitude. We can't isolate the two. People fell in love with Mariah years back because they loved her voice and because they loved how humble and relatable she was. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the diva act occasionally, and I will once in a while indulge in some of the terms she uses, but it's not always fun. I was also talking about the Wendy, Andy Cohen and Fallon. In all of these JLo looks like she is so excited, jokes about herself and her mom, answers directly and all. She doesn't pretend the interviews are boring and that she is tired of answering same questions. I look at the screen and I am like "I dislike your music but you are a charming person". Basically JLo made sure her image stays positive, you hear these diva rumors but you see her and you are like heck I can just go and talk to her, so sweet. With Mariah nowadays it's like she says she isn't a diva but you see her everytime on and you think wow ok she's grand. One funny thing I noticed, previously when asked if she is a diva Mariah would go on saying she isn't, that there are 2 kinds of diva and that she is not the second kind. But nowadays she doesn't even say it, she is now almost a self proclaimed diva and readying Monroe's image as a diva for the public too.

YDKWTD (44,995) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I am glad this is the new single. Perfect summer song. I hope Mariah promotes it this time so that it gets the attention it deserves. Has there been any info about where and how she will promote it? I hope she visits Ellen, Fallon and Wendy. I really wish Mariah would do one of those skits with Fallon which goes viral. Can't wait for the video. Hoping for this to be her next number 1 or at least top 5 hit. Come on Mariah, it has the potential just start shoving it down people's throats by appearing everywhere and you will bag your next number 1.

Blah (44,994) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I will try to make this my last post about the current JLo-MC debate (try being the keyword). I knew some fans will still defend MC no matter what and that's fine. But it isn't really doing much good for MC, since this will just encourage her to continue with her diva act, which lets be honest is driving her further and further away from some of her fans. I am no JLo fan but I recently watched some of her interviews and I have to say the woman knows how to work interviews and promos. You see her on a talk show and you feel that she is just another girl whom you can go up and talk to (yes I am well aware that she is known to be a major diva but in show business no one cares what a person is like at home, they care about what they see in public). Jennifer has also been in the business for many years but she almost sounds like it's her first album. Her excitement, the energy, and most importantly the direct answers makes the interviews flow smoothly. Hate me all you want, I don't care. This was exactly what MC was (serious, with a sense of humor and humble and relatable) before the fame and divaness got to her head. Also why should Nick be cursed at for interviewing her? It's his job. Even Nick is graceful enough to acknowledge Eminem and say he is ready to move on from the fight with Eminem and chose to "save" him over this other person, I forgot. I am not saying Eminem should be forgiven, just giving an example.

MC-JLo (44,978) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Adam, I was just about to write the Mariah quotes you just posted. So yes that's what JLo was referring to. This debate (MC-JLo) lead me to YouTube where I found an audio tape where Jennifer called in to Nick Cannon's show and even there before Nick brought Mariah up, Jennifer went ahead and congratulated them on the twins, then Nick asked for advice which she gave. She also said there is no beef and all and that she is a big fan of Mariah. There are more interviews of her where she addresses Mariah in a positive way. I am not saying she is saying all these because she adores M. Even if she says it just for the sake of it, still makes her a better businessperson, whereas MC should really have done that. The contrast between their interviews makes it look like M is still in the past, while painting JLo in a positive light. This is showbusiness, image is everything. And the whole "JLo knew or didn't know about sabotaging Mariah" debate is pretty silly, like I said, even if she knew, why should she care? She didn't even know Mariah. Do you really expect her to put Mariah's career before hers when she never even met her? That's really silly.

Adam (44,962) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I'm with you on this one man. JLo is coming off as really secure and easy going whereas Mariah is still holding on to a grudge from over a decade ago. Now, by no means is Jennifer even one fourth as talented as Mariah, but the woman atleast seems to be a better business person now that she has so successfully made herself seem so likeable eventhough there has been diva rumors surrounding her for ages. This is JLo doesn't play along with the diva tag, she maybe demanding but in interviews and promos she seems nice and always laughing and being cordial. Mariah is completely lost in the diva act, something she claims she really isn't in real life. And like I mentioned before, one reason the lambs hate JLo is because she snatched the sample from Mariah. But come on, she has to think about her own career, she didn't even know Mariah, how can we expect her to care? I also liked how JLo actually mentioned one of Mariah's hits to further show that she actually listened to it. Anyways main thing being, next time they ask MC about JLo she should just say "well I'd like to get to know her too". That's good enough. Instead of saying "who" and then covering her face with her hair. 24 years in the business, 18 number singles and over 200 million records sold should teach Mariah that it won't kill her to acknowledge people she dislikes.

Antonio (44,961) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Lol I know what you mean. I saw the cover, I was on a mobile device and the net was slow so the picture at first was blurry (it was taking time to load), and I was like wow a new unseen picture from the shoot. And then it loaded and I'm like woah what the? First up she looks pissed, then she looks like she is holding back a major sneezing moment. It looks like the same pose (and yes the exact same picture) as the album cover just that someone photoshopped a different head on it. Even her head looks like it is turned sideways so the "face" looks weird. Mariah is such a beautiful woman, why on earth doesn't she just do a new photoshoot? Anyways I am excited for the video if the Brett Ratner rumors are true.

Matthew (44,928) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Yes you are right too. See I was just expressing my thoughts mainly about MC-Nicki fight before the "off with your head" thing. I remember in one episode Mariah just came and made a comment about Nicki's head piece (or some kind of accessory) and all. But yes you are right in you point. I am not saying Nicki is innocent, but she does acknowledge Mariah and so does JLo. Mariah on the other hand just pretends the person doesn't exist if some interviewer asks her about them. Also, I don't know how the shows work but don't they know who else will be in the panel? I mean are they not allowed to ask? Because if they don't what will happen if suppose they would put Eminem or Tommy Mottola as the fourth guest? So I want to know that didn't Mariah's team know in advance about Nicki? If she did, then why sign on? (These are actual questions so feel free to answer lol.) As for the fight, my theory is that they were both briefed on it and they started of fighting to get ratings or whatever and then bam, at one point one of them said something to the other and things got bad. That's when it fell apart.
