Ugh MC's latest update is about her dance remixes for YME. I'm a little disappointed. We have zero info on the new album, not even an album cover or title or tracklist. I was hoping she released a new single, but chances of that are slim.

Wow, I was so shocked when I saw the interview. That was so disrespectful. I honestly don't know any of Nick's work and didn't even know about him prior to his marriage to Mariah. But he always sounded so well-mannered and in love with M, so I thought he's good for and to her. What he did in that interview was disgusting. I thought he was a gentleman, but he not only was super disrespectful to MC, but also to all the women in his life who, probably at one point of time made him happy. I can think of a million ways he could have dodged that question and saved MC from all the embarrassment. Also no matter what went wrong between him and his previous romances, no woman deserves to be talked about in public like that, that includes Kim. Nick now sounds like a teenage boy who wants to brag about his "achievements in the bedroom". Not only did he embarrass Mariah and all the other women, he made sure to claim that these are just a few of his many partners. Nick grow up, you are in your 30s, you are not a kid. You are not only married, you have kids, so have some respect for your family and dress your age.

Favorite/least favorite covers (42,267)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Favourite album covers : Musicbox (She looks so beautiful, with the Monroe-ish vibe, I think I read somewhere that the cover was inspired by Marilyn.) Butterfly (The one with her eyes closed, so innocent yet sultry, just like the album.) TEOM (I love that she has that amazing powerful stance thing going. I'm the queen and I'm fabulous so move over.) E=MC2 (It's sexy and classy, although she's nude, it's not that visible so that's good. It's like a second black and white version of TEOM, which is fitting since its kinda the sequel to TEOM.) Least favourite abum covers: Charmbracelet, Rainbow Favourite single covers: Dreamlover, AYNAF, ABMB, Honey (I can't get over how gorgeous she looks, and that amazing hair flip), Heartbreaker, WBT, TAOLG.

Album title (42,266)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Ugh I sincerely hope that's not the album title. While I agree with the person who said Mariah has proven herself already and has nothing to prove and may just choose to not release the album (I will be terribly sad but hey, Mariah's happiness comes first), however if she does choose to release the album as planned, I definitely hope that's not the title. Just "Mermaid" should be fine, if that's the theme she wants to keep. But Mermaid In Disguise? Does that even make sense? I saw a lot of posts asking why Mariah had 3 different versions of her on the MOAIA cover, I think Mariah confirmed it was because she wanted the cover to reflect the variety of emotions that the songs in the album portrays, I don't mind 3 of her on the cover, although the shadows and body proportions were unreal, but it's fine, I hope this time she goes for a more matured sexy cover, she is so beautiful she doesn't need much to look good.

Terna/ JLo (42,169)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

|
Terna, your post is my favorite among all the Ariana posts. Six words to just put an end to the whole useless argument. Moving on, did you guys check out JLo's new song/video? Terrible, terrible song. I had to stop it mid way because of the annoying chorus and the overall bad quality of the song. I don't know what they were thinking when releasing that song as a single. Mariah can write a better song even while sleeping. Makes me appreciate how lucky we are to have someone who is a musical genius.

Darling, I think you read my post wrong, I didn't twist your words. If you would read closely, I used the phrase "or just for the sake of argument let's say" Mariah "totally ripped off" the other singers. I said that to make a point. I don't think in any part of my message I wrote you said it. So please maybe read it again to see for yourself. I just meant "let's assume she totally ripped the others off". I'm very much aware that you meant she was inspired. Mariah has been owning her style since the very first song she ever released, whether it has been inspired by people she look up to or not. She definitely takes inspirations but always inserts her own creativity. I don't think there is a single song where people can say "oh MC totally ripped off Whitney or Aretha or whatever". Nope, I'll just say this again, taking inspiration is one thing, ripping off is another. MC has been doing the former, Ariana the latter. Whether Ariana grows out of it, will be seen in future, I'm talking about the present sweetheart, and the truth is quite "in your face". And also, I said this before, I'll say it again, hey atleast Mariah acknowledges her influences, unlike Miss Grande who keeps denying her songs are influenced by Mariah, when they quite blatantly.

Mariah (42,133)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
I won't get into any arguments but I would like to point out that saying Mariah is making the same song again and again is not true. Triumphant (albeit hated by most, but I like it) is an upbeat hip hop infused motivational song, #Beautiful a fresh, throwback sound with the vocals against an amazing guitar riffs. TAOLG a raw song, letting her voice take the spotlight and not over produced. Then comes YME, a sweet RnB love ballad, which starts of cutesy, has a hypnotic feel and then ends with some power vocals. I don't know which songs you all have been listening to, but the fact that the 4 released songs that were meant for her new album are completely different from each other just shows that Mariah really has been cooking up different songs for the upcoming album.

Yes definitely MC probably took some inspiration or just for the sake of arguement let's say she totally copied the styles of the singers you mentioned, but look at your post, she perhaps "totally copied" Aaliyah for Babydoll, Alicia Meyers for MIH and all, but that's "one" song in like one album, whereas almost "every" song in Ariana's album is a rip off of Mariah's work, especially Daydream. So please, don't just say you don't see a difference between her and MC. I will agree with you if you say that MC sometimes behaves erratically or snobbish in some interviews, I'll agree if you say that some of her recent songs don't have the depth of her previous ones (although that doesn't necessarily mean I don't like them) and I'll agree with you that MC needs to work on her live performances, but no way in hell will it be fair to say that MC has been ripping off other singers in the same fashion that Ariana is doing. There's a difference between taking inspiration (or heck ripping off ideas) from singers in "one" song every now and then, and ripping of one artist's songs in "every" song in one album to the point that it seems like its Daydream 2.0 (without the maturity) and then having the audacity to say that her style is different from Mariah's. Atleast Mariah acknowledged her influences.

Thirsty / Ariana (42,101)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
In the recent interview MC says that she can't wait until her fans hear "Thirsty" when the album comes out, I'm a little disappointed because I was hoping she released that or the Mike Will track before the album release. I hope she just said that because she didn't want to reveal her plans about another single. About Ariana, please enough with that argument, so Mariah didn't acknowledge Ariana's existence, boo hoo, get over it. Nobody wants to hear that there is now a "younger" version of them to possibly replace them (ugh I cringed at myself for even writing that Ariana can replace MC). Why is it so hard for people to just accept that yes eventhough M is a multimillionaire record setting/breaking superstar, she is still insecure and feels threatened. I think it's perfectly normal, and it's not like she didn't say she doesn't care about Ariana, she wished youngsters well. She's a busy person and I don't think it's shocking if she never heard of Ariana or didn't hear Beyonce's new chart burning song. Give it a rest, it's not like Ariana is any better, she keeps going out of her way to claim her style is different than M's, when actually we all can hear it's a major rip off. After years of being controlled, M finally found her freedom in 2005 when she did what she wanted and was acclaimed for that, only to again have people write her off, so yes I think her insecurities are well justified.

The "Angela" middle name has been used in a couple of sites I've seen before, however I am confused, because didn't Mariah say that Monroe doesn't have a middle name because she doesn't have one herself? I remember reading that in many articles after the name of Dem Babies were announced.

MC (42,048)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
So seems like YME won't be promoted anymore by MC. She did her share of radio interviews but without major live performances not many people would know about it. It's sad, because I really enjoyed both versions of the song and thought it would at least be a top 10. I understand Mimi is busy with the album but I do hope she still releases an upbeat song before releasing the album. I'm eagerly waiting for some new MC vocals.

JT (41,978)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |

|
It's one thing to not like JT's behavior/attitude, and how he was a douche to Mariah, Janet and Britney, but to claim that he is a bad singer is completely wrong. He's probably one of the best male vocalist of our generation. I am not a huge JT fan, I have listened to only some of his work, but I have to say he is a very good singer and all the songs of his that I heard were really good. What he does in his personal time is not my business, but he is a good singer and I think him and Mariah can have great vocal chemistry.

MC-JT (41,904)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Oh, the whole MC-JT thing is getting me excited. It's fun that they are dropping hints. Because otherwise that whole interview upload is very random and everyone on her Vevo page is wondering why she uploaded it. And if Mariah wanted some random interview uploaded she would have used one where she was in a more glamorous ensemble. So yes, this might be a major hint that something is cooking between her and JT (unless she is pointing at Eminem or Westlife).

Yes ILT was great and I also loved the live performances, especially the TAOM tour mix, the one at VH-1 and some others I can't remember at the moment. And to think that ILT, WBT, SIO and GYN wasn't even in the first track list of the album. These four went on to become the first few singles, each with great videos. and Say Somethin' although different and I enjoy it sometimes although not much, was not a good way to start the album. When the beat of ILT starts, it's bound to make people atleast sway. By the way, the tracks you listed, out of that man of the hour reminds me of Standing O, as it has a line called "you're the man of the hour" and it's for real sounds like "4real4real" although the writers seem to be different.

Edward / videos (41,810)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
You are right, IDJ won't allocate a lot of money for Mariah's videos now that she's going through a low point in her career. I actually blame IDJ for some of Mariah's bad selling singles. Because E=MC2 had some really good songs and it could have been bigger had they released better singles. Releasing Migrate and the A.C. remix of I'm That Chick would have really gotten her greater selling singles. People started getting into more dance techno music around 2008 and although these aren't really under techno category but it would have fit in nicely. Same with Memoirs, there were some real gems in that one the single choices accompanied by the horrid videos (post Obsessed) kinda brought the album down. But even if Mariah is on a low budget she could still work around it. I mean she went to Puerto Rico and could have moved around more and used cut scenes of flashbacks of her and trey spending time together.

Isaac / ILT (41,809)

You are so right about the dresses. Both the outfits were so gorgeous and sexy and classy. The first one had that beautiful stone work and the second was casual yet fun and flirty. I remember M breaking down the story behind the video and said that the video shows she's attending two parties, one which is put together by her aged fiance and it's supposed to be formal and boring (the one with the peach-golden gown) and then she changes into a more relaxed dress (the black one) and attends her own party where her friends are and that's where she's seen having fun. I loved the subtle yet cute/sexy moves M pulled in that video. As for "Time of your life", I enjoyed that song too. Although I am not sure if there is a full version of it, it was part of the ringtones set, but I think there is an extended version, not sure though. Those ringtones had some good songs too, there was a jazz-like one there, plus many fun ones.

Lamb_O_Chop (41,786)

I happen to agree with everything in your last post. There were several parts of the song which were different from the studio version so I really don't get how anyone can think it's the same. If some hears the song at least twice, they'll know it's different. Now whether the song was pre-recorded, half/full lipped or dubbed is anybody's guess. I think she did atleast sing parts of it live because she kept adjusting her ear piece and people who are saying that she didn't do her "hand movements" which is like uber proof that she wasn't singing live, I'd like to say, when you are sitting on a piano with a dress so tight and risky, I think you'd be pretty nervous enough to forget a lot of things, even if it's a habit. MC usually does that when she's standing on a flat ground. It's fine to hate a song, don't go around bashing it. I'd also back up the Isaac part, he was one of the first to say he didn't like the song much, but that's it, no negativity was spread. Also, someone wrote about having their boobs out and cougar hair on trying to attract boys when they are 44 like M. Are you suggesting that's what M does? Please don't turn a classy performance into a cheap show.

Celine duet (41,761)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

No, no and no. What good will it do? At least definitely not as a single. Album cut is tolerable but still I don't really care for Celine. If Mariah does perform with another female it should be current. And I see no reason for Celina and Mariah pulling another MC Whitney moment. That concept is done and over. A new female duet has to be fresh.

I always loved this song but I haven't heard it in a while and I was playing it today and I went woah. It's such a great song, it just makes you wanna get up and dance, especially at the "let's go now here we go now" part, but even the rest of the song kinda makes you get on the floor with your gals. I am not even talking about the club mixes, I am referring to te original version. Please MC give me a song like that again. It's fun, flirty, sexy and classy while throwing shades at them chicken's ashy skin all at once lol. You can come up with a bigger club hit than all the Gagas and Perrys and Beyonces.

MC and Nicki (41,731)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Appreciate talent? What talent does Nicki have that Mariah will need to perform with her and/or chat with her just for image? If Mariah needs any change, it's only to appear less "untouchable" which she is already doing with the recent interviews. We can't expect her to now become totally un-diva-ish beceause a) that is almost impossible for MC, b) it would make her boring and not let her sense of humor shine through. This industry is so unpredictable, it's hard to pin down a formula to achieve success, at least nowadays. But I do think that Mariah can gain more younger audiences if she duets with people who are current favorites. Like Gaga (although her last album didn't do great) or Katy Perry, but most importantly Beyonce. Nicki has got nothing to offer to Mariah.

No hate or anything, and you are entitled to your opinion, but I would rather have Mariah actually move and do something on stage instead of standing with a mic and just singing like a robot. She's an average dancer (I mean it's not like she can't move at all, that's unfair to claim because she had some cute moves in Honey, Heartbreaker and ILT), and usually if someone just stands and sings, it kinda bores people. I loved the piano concept and even though that dress was risky as hell I think she managed to look classy instead of tacky. I would honestly have a "moving Mariah" than a "stationary Mariah" (does that make sense? well I am a lamb and I like making up words like MC so bear with me). And since for YM(E) you can't really dance, or do much else on stage, I think the concept was great. And attention worthy. The dress was fine in my opinion, not the most flattering, but it was perfect for the whole concept as a whole.

BET Honors (41,720)

All I can say is wow. Mariah looked great. She had the whole Jessica Rabbit thing going on. And I loved how she held the mic like Elvis and it was different than her usual mic (although hey I love MC's signature stone studded mics). The way she moved around the piano so gracefully without freaking out and getting a weird expression was amazing. A true diva. Shows that MC may not be able to dance but she can put on a hell of a show. I loved the videos playing in the back and as I have written in posts before the music video release, I thought it was going to be the music video (especially for the remix because trey songz was in the pictures with her when she was shooting for it). When I saw the little mermaid theme, I thought the remix video will have a flashback moment of her and Trey dancing at a ball or whatever to keep in line with most Disney themes. She looked so gorgeous both on stage and on the screens. It was spectacular. She changed her vocals a little which is good, but yes she could have done some major ad-libs. But I won't even complain, the day I can sing and maneuver on top of a piano with a dress like that, I will come back and judge the legendary Mariah Carey (and I don't see that happening in the near future).

Mariah/Monroe nailpolish article (41,670)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
That article is so wrong and should be corrected before people scream "child labor" and "diva making kid work". (I say child labor, because recently a famous Indian actress was attacked for posting a picture of her nieces tying her shoe laces and everyone went over dramatic and accused her of child labor, come on.) Monroe is clearly not holding a heat lamp, it's a normal stand lamp or floor lamp, which does not need to be held. What Monroe is actually holding is a purple nail polish bottle. I don't know who was stupid enough to think such a tiny kid will be holding that lamp. Secondly, Mariah isn't the one in specs and that head/hair isn't hers, it's obviously her manicurist or friend or whatever who is painting M's nails. It can easily be seen from the picture, and also come on, who can sit at that impossible angle. Unless you have some crazy spine surgery.
