About Dove from USA: "Just sing from your heart the entire time and your notes will continue to shine regardless of the dirt that gets splattered around you." - Mariah Carey

MC and Nick (46,142) by Dove from USA
If it's true I hope they are okay and that they will remain amicable for the sake of their children.

My dream set list (46,137) by Dove from USA
I know there are a lot of songs here but she can lip some of them. Concert tickets are expensive and we should get our money's worth. There are a lot of medleys to fit more songs.
01. End of Time intro (first verse and chorus)
02. Meteorite/There's Got to Be a Way medley
03. 100%/Hero/Can't Take that Away medley
04. Migrate/Get Your Number/I Didn't Mean to Turn You On medley
05. #Beautiful/Touch My Body/Your Girl medley
06. Make It Look Good/Ribbon/Bliss mashup
07. Loverboy/All My Life
08. Dreamlover/Honey/Fantasy medley
09. Dedicated/Candy Bling/Money ($*?...) medley
10. Betcha Gon Know/Heartbreaker (HB starts out slow and sad) medley
11. You Don't Know What to Do/It's a Wrap/Faded medley
12. You're Mine (Eternal)/And You Don't Remember/We Belong Together medley
13. I Still Believe (Imagination Remix/The Roof mashup or medley
14. Thirsty/Obsessed
15. Side Effects/The Art of Letting Go/I Wish You Well medley
16. Bye Bye/One Sweet Day/Never Forget You medley
17. Reflections/Camouflage medley
18. Looking In/Outside medley
19. Languishing/I Want to Know What Love Is (extended with live band)
20. Rainbow Interlude
21. Heavenly/Fly Like a Bird medley
22. I Am Free/My Saving Grace medley
23. Supernatural/So Blessed medley
24. We Are the Champions cover (with live band)
01. (Encore) Oh Santa/All I Want for Christmas
Medleys can sound choppy and bad but they can also be arranged for a seamless transition. Maybe she can get the guy who mixed The Beatles Love for Cirque du Soleil to mix her medleys and Julie Taylor can do visuals for the big screens.

Netflix (45,965) by Dove from USA
Someone needs to put all of Mariah's specials on Netflix so that new people can meet her and the old fans can remember her. Pretty much every person I've introduced to Mariah has fallen in love with her. There is not enough exposure. Not DVDs but digital downloads because that way they don't waste money on packaging and DVDs are becoming obsolete anyway. I don't really buy them anymore. A lot of my friends are starting to buy only digital copies too.

Random thoughts (45,964) by Dove from USA
I wish she would have done the unplugged show in New York. I'm really craving some visuals and raw vocals llike on Unplugged. I don't even care if there's no audience. She can put a green screen in her humidifier room (if that's where her voice sounds best) with just her on a stool and a camera if she doesn't trust anyone to be in there with her. They can put the pretty stars from the album cover on the green screen, like she's on a different planet. I wish I could buy the Christmas special with all the Christmas music videos included. I would watch it every Christmas eve and make it a tradition. They should put it on Netflix so everyone can watch it. Where is her marketing team?

GM interview (45,926) by Dove from USA
I just read the article and I liked it. She seemed really sweet and down to earth. On a side note: I apologize for the "I want her to go out with a bang not a whimper" comment in my last post. That's just my frustration coming out.

Mariah and Celine (45,922) by Dove from USA
If Mariah and Celine were competing for the same date, why didn't they just do the concert together?

Re: post 45,917 by Ty (45,921) by Dove from USA
That is unfortunate. If it were me I would have spent my own money to promote it, especially because it's so good. This could have been her big comeback album. I would rather have a good album with little promo over a mediocre album with tons of promo though. I just wish more people could hear this one. I just want her to go out with a bang instead of a whimper.

May (45,915) by Dove from USA
I completely agree with your post about WH and MJ. I feel that now that MC has kids and is getting older she is going to want to slow down a lot. I want her to have one more very successful era with a new album full of great songs, amazing performances, creative and fun videos, beautiful clothes, lots of promo, etc. I want her to go out with a bang. Maybe with three or seven more number ones under her belt. When I say go out with a bang, I don't mean fully retire. I mean after the big comeback she can just announce she's becoming a studio artist (in order to spend more time with her kids) and just release music whenever she feels like it independently.

Reality show (45,909) by Dove from USA
I agree that it's hard to connect with MC nowadays. The reason I like the song Side Effects is because it's real. This is her experience and many of us have felt this way in a relationship. Of course I would not want Mariah to stay in a situation where she was so unhappy and I'm glad that she got out. I don't condone her ex-husband trying to sabotage her during the Glitter era but I can understand why he would. I'm not a vindictive person myself but I've been around plenty of people who are and have seen people do some crazy stuff to hurt their exes. And these weren't bad people. I know Mariah would not risk the criticism that comes from putting yourself out there this way but I wish she would do a show on Oprah's network like the one the Judds had. I was watching a few episodes and it made me connect with them and like them. I love Marilyn Monroe and The Beatles and I always look up old interviews and books to learn more about them as people. Something really raw and transparent would be cool for the people of the future to watch to know her more as a real person. I know she probably wouldn't. Just an idea.

Marketing (45,908) by Dove from USA
Just to be clear my loyalties do lie with MC even though my previous post makes it seem otherwise. I just like to look at things from different angles. Even MC has thanked Tommy for his support at the beginning of her career. We're all human and doing the best we can, nobody is completely good or bad. We can't underestimate the power of marketing and having the right people on your team has on commercial success. I don't have anything to add about JD except I agree with what Mimi L wrote in her post. Also, I wish MC would say what her plans are so that we can know what to look forward to or if we should even be looking forward to anything.

Tommy Mottola (45,901) by Dove from USA
I feel like he does deserve a lot of credit. He allocated a ton of resources on developing and especially promoting her when she was starting out. Other artists on the label were complaining that they weren't getting attention because Tommy's main focus was making Mariah as big as Michael Jackson. He truly believed in her talent when many other record companies didn't. He had the pull, resources, and experience to propell her to stardom from the beginning. I believe she would have still made it without him, because she is undoubtedly a unique talent, but not as far. She's a living legend. I don't think he gets enough credit. She wanted commercial success and he helped her get it. He knew what the people wanted and he gave it to them. I can't speak on their private life because I wasn't there but business-wise he got results. Maybe later her vision changed and she felt like she wasn't allowed to express herself as an individual or as an artist and so she left. Maybe he did try to sabatoge her with Glitter but maybe she broke his heart. Haven't we all done crazy things when someone breaks our heart? With his new wife, I believe he could have made her a huge star. She is gorgeous and charming. I think he learned from his mistakes with Mariah and chose not to have a big part in her career outside of giving advice. His new wife said in an interview she would rather focus on her family than work. She works for fun, that family is recession proof.

I think if she can crank out good songs quickly, it would be better to start fresh and release a new album. If there is major promotion, awesome videos, breathtaking performances, and it takes off people will go back and buy MIAM too. I'm hoping 2015 will be another good year for her.

Acceptance speech (45,822) by Dove from USA
I just watched the acceptance speech for the WMA's and I loved it. She seemed like a real person again and it made me feel bad for saying negative things about the performance. I like that she always thanks God and the fans.

Lip synching (45,821) by Dove from USA
The reason I'm okay with it is because I think her voice is more fragile than most and she can only sing well under certain conditions: lots of vocal rest, moist vocal cords, etc. I don't want her to ruin her voice but I do want to see her and I want to be entertained and have a good time. I saw Britney in Vegas and she lipped every song but it was still fun. I had never heard most of the songs she sang but they weren't boring and she had stuff on the huge screens that was fun to look at. It was an experience. I haven't seen Taylor Swift in concert but I saw the special on Netflix and her concert looks like a fun experience too. A lot of creativity on the sets and cheesy dramatic hand movements, but it's fun. Of course I would rather she sing live but if she's going to be struggling and straining to the point that its painful to watch because she's damaging her voice I'd rather she just lip it.

I agree that sometimes there are also attacks for being too positive. We should all be able to post our thoughts without fear of getting chewed out.

Positive/negative comments (45,816) by Dove from USA
Like Jason Mraz sings, "The absence of the light is a necessary part." We live in a relative world and we can't appreciate the good without the bad. It is hurtful to read negative comments because we love Mariah, she is like our family and we want her to always be perfect. But we can't pretend like everything is great because it's not. Something is clearly wrong and we can't pretend we don't notice. I would hate to work for her because I would be afraid to tell her how I really see it and have her yell at me, or give me the silent treatment, or fire me. I'll admit I'm kind of an enabler with the people I love. It's obvious, something is wrong. Sometimes I'm afraid to say anything slighly negative on here because people do jump on you, on this board, sometimes. I think a balance of the realist and idealists is a good thing. What Orkun said is true, most of us just choose to focus on the positive. But I'm sure to some extent we're all thinking it. It's true, that wasn't her best performance. I prefer reading positive comments but negative comments have value too.

Julie Taymor (45,812) by Dove from USA
Other songs I would like Mariah to cover are Dear Prudence, The Long And Winding Road, or Let it Be by The Beatles and Three Little Birds by Bob Marley. I was watching the movie Across The Universe and was reminded that it's stunning, visually. Wow. Mariah should hire Julie Taymor for videos. Or make a movie musical. I always think of the legacy and longevity. Across The Universe is a classic, Mariah needs something like that.

We Are The Champions (45,811) by Dove from USA
My dream cover is We Are The Champions because the lyrics just remind me of her life, career, and her. I've always thought her voice sounded best when accompanied by real musical instruments. Here are the lyrics: I've paid my dues, time after time. I've done my sentence, but committed no crime. And bad mistakes, I've made a few, I've had my share of sand kicked in my face, but I've come through. And we mean to go on and on and on and on. We are the champions, my friends, and we'll keep on fighting until the end. We are the champions, we are the champions. No time for losers because we are the champions of the world. I've taken my bows, and my curtain calls. You brought me fame and fortune and everything that goes with it, I thank you all. But it's been no bed of roses, no pleasure cruise. I consider it a challenge before the whole human race and I ain't gonna lose.

Abraham (45,810) by Dove from USA
In response to post 45780 (sorry so late). Celine, Whitney, and Mariah are the best voices of my time. I love them. But Mariah is my favorite. I'm Your Angel gives me the Every Time I Close My Eyes vibe. I imagine how her voice sounded then on IYA. I love gospel music because it's so positive. I like hearing her sing those types of songs because it shows she's still humble and doesn't think she's a Lightening McQueen who does it all herself. I also like I Am Free. Elvis was mainstream artist who did gospel songs but I can't think of anyone else. I wouldn't call myself religious but I definitely believe in a God/higher power that is inclusive and pure love. I grew up going to church and learning the teachings of Jesus but I appreciate other teachings too. The book Autobiography Of A Yogi was enlightening and life changing for me. I respect public figures like Mother Teresa, Princess Diana, and Michael Jackson who devoted their lives to making the world a better place.

Lip synching (45,808) by Dove from USA
The reason I don't mind if she lip synchs is because she's already proved over her career that she can sing live. Obviously something happened to her voice and it's not as effortless for her as it once was. But if she's going to do it she needs to make it look real. Record a slightly different, more raw track. Practice in the mirror until it looks real. I want the experience of hearing her live, I want some movement that shows she's feeling it, I want something exciting that matches the track on the screens, and I want good outfits.

Old songs (45,803) by Dove from USA
Going back a few days we were discussing Mariah singing her older hits more often than her newer stuff. I was thinking about it and I think this is why people say she's a has-been. She always sings Hero, ABMB, WBT, etc. I know these are her biggest hits but it makes it seem to people who don't follow her as closely as we do that she doesn't have any good new songs. There are a bunch of songs on MIAM that could have helped make entertaining, high energy performances. She just needs better petformances and better videos.

Meteorite performance (45,802) by Dove from USA
I was just happy to see her, I missed her face. I liked her hair and makeup, I liked her outfit, I agree it was sexy without being vulgar. The only thing is that it would have looked better with nude underwear. I actually like the song because it sounds superficial but it's actually personal. It's the type of song that she doesn't have to move around the whole stage but maybe should should hire someone to choreograph some dramatic hand movements or something. She moved way more in her GMA performance of YDKWTD. I didn't think about it until someone mentioned it but maybe she is going through stuff and doesn't want to be there. After thinking about it I was reminded of 2007 VMA's and Britney Spears.

Dream cover (45,800) by Dove from USA
My ultimate dream cover for Mariah is We Are The Champions by Queen. I imagine her singing it while wearing the leotard looking thing she wore when she sang I Want To Know What Love Is on The View. I imagine her ending her concerts with this song and dedicating it to the fans. With real instruments and sing it like she's living it.

Abraham (45,774) by Dove from USA
George Michael or Stevie Wonder would be good because they're right up there with her in talent. I don't know many songs by the other artists you listed outside of their hits. I thought the same thing when that R Kelly song came out, that Mariah would have sounded better than Celine.
