Re: Debacle humor (70,758) (70,764) by Licia from USA
I agree with alot of what Wendy said. I just didn't get what Nick getting someone else pregnant has to do with any of this. This is not a team Nick post so don't anybody get their panties in a bunch. Both he and Mariah moved a while ago. Mariah was almost married again and allegedly has a new man. She doesn't seem to be worried about or care about anything Nick is doing. Anyway she's performed a few times since she found out about the new baby. Why would that information all of a sudden affect this particular performance? Wendy was just being petty by bringing that up.

At first I saw a small clip of Wendy going in on Mariah on instagram and I was like oh boy, there goes WW. But after you mentioned her here, I went back and saw the whole part and yes, while she goes in hard on her at the start, she does later make valid points. She even praises her as a singer and said yet again (she says that all the time) that even on her worst day she can out sing anyone. Then she even defends her lip syncing saying it doesn't matter, everyone knows she can sing, so as long as she is up there putting on a show it doesn't bother her. I'm living for Wendy throwing shade at Stella every chance she gets and it's the truth. I also agree that apart from Kris Buckle, no one in her current entourage really gives two hoots about Mariah personally. And yes I think Big Jim Wright, Trey Lorenz and her back up singers are great friends to her, but I'm not including them in her "entourage" because they don't follow her everywhere. I mean holidays and shopping sprees and dates and what not. They go with her when she's performing and then go back to their own lives, which I respect and appreciate. The others are surely out to take advantage.

MW ratings (70,762) by THE TRUTH from USA
Well MW fell off a ratings cliff. Maybe now Mariah will realize what a lousy hire Stella was or perhaps it'll be Trump's fault, Putin, Dick Clark or Anthony to blame.

Wendy Williams (70,760) by THE TRUTH from USA
I thought Wendy Williams was pretty even handed and fair about the whole New Years Eve debacle. She did much less damage than Stella.

Clearly you haven't done your research. Watch Vaxxed, there is an indisputable, empirically verifiable connection between vaccines and autisim. Maybe give this a read when you aren't so busy spouting off nonsense.

Debacle humor (70,758) by RibbonB from USA
Well may as well laugh about it. The Spurs made a funny with Emotions. At least this will increase the Emotions streams too. It sounds awesome at games, maybe they will make it a game time staple from now on. More streams. After that video is Wendy Williams run down on the NYE thing too. She is pretty much spot on in her assessment of things this time, IMO. I especially like whens he said Mariah should fire this whole group, sit in a room wring her hands and think this through alone, I'm paraphrasing here.

Video showing what Mariah's was hearing (70,757) by John from Italy
Finally, this is (more or less) what Mariah was hearing. Judge for yourself. To me, it seems very difficult to sing all the parts that have those overwhelming drums, but quite easy to sing the bridge at least. I would point some things: at 4:16 do you think it was planned that Mariah was coming down the stairs by her own feet? I thought that the dancer, confused by her hesitation, picks her to avoid any danger of falling (by the way, I do not understand that massive shoes she insists to wear, even if they reduce her ability to move); at 4:30 (tell me if I’m wrong) she seems determined to walk off the stage prematurely and the dancers, after some second of uncertainty, start to join the feather fans as to hide her in a botched pseudo-conclusion; then, she reconsiders to return and they re-open the feathers and continue their routine. Congratulations to the dancers that kept smiling and supporting her during all this mess. She seemed like a goddess (and, if all would worked, the coreography really would put her in that light, rediming her recent, very "wordly" image – if you know what I mean). We got instead a sad goddess landed on earth deprived of all her powers; looking at the sky in search of an answers that did not come. During those minutes, she alredy known the price she would pay for this, but continued to smile. That smile, that melancholic smile was too much to be expressed in words. I felt very sad at 4:08, when she abruptly stops miming and starts staring into space as to alienate herself from that place and time, to the point that the dancer has to struggle to get her attention. I could only imagine her sadness and her state of stress in that moment – thrown in the arena, all by herself, required to do something that in that moment she was not capable to do, because of an insurmontable objective problem, or even because of childish obstination, or anger, or panic. Some other performers would have done better than her? Maybe. But at least she stayed until the end, and that is enough for me. I'm glad she did, because doing so, she (although unintentionally) allowed us to see again a glimpse of her real soul. The accident reveals, from anywhere you look, the inner frailty of the individual. We all can recognize ourselves in her. Ironically, in its infinity levels of interpretation, that non-performance is a piece of art. The art of being human, I would say.

Yes you are right, DCP wouldn't do that. People who tune in to DCP, will tune in regardless. Plus DCP isn't a new thing, they have been around for decades. The fault comes from the technicians and Mariah's team not handling the situation well. Mariah on the other hand did a good interview where she didn't really throw blame at anyone. So I'm glad she didn't go round Stella's ratchet round, but by that time Stella has already done the damage on provoking a major production house.

Adele had technical difficulties last year at the Grammys, but she sang through it. The people who stand to gain the most from this "any publicity is good publicity" thought process is Mariah and Stella.

If that JLo tweet is indeed real and not a fake one, then I'm glad she did it. It will somewhat expose her snake side, like what happened with Taylor. Like Taylor, JLo has this impeccable team around her where even though she does a lot of stuff, she always end up with a good image, so I hope this "liking of the comment" gets viral so people can shift the heat on JLo haha.

Re: First casualty from the debacle (70,744) (70,752) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Yes he did and Bryan was then promoted to creative director. Then Anthony came back. I bet Stella was just waiting to get rid of Anthony because from the show it is seen they clash a lot. Although I don't know how much of the show I should believe at this point but of course Stella would shift the blame on anyone but herself.

I believe Burrell went to work with Beyonce on her Superbowl Formation event, during that break from working with Mimi. He was gone, then he came right back.

Re: Anthony (70,735) (70,750) by Luke from United Kingdom
She needs to get rid of all the dancers in my opinion. There's nothing classier than Mariah standing next to a piano with 3 backup singers dressed in sleek black by her side. The dancers are obviously there for distraction and because there's some weird insecurity going on. Anyone would think her legs are broken the amount of times they lift her. Sure does love levitating for someone who has busted her arm and ribs from falling off stage.

Article: Jenny McCarthy says her sympathy for Mariah "stopped" (70,749) by May from Denmark
Who cares what this woman has to say. Her ridiculous anti vaccine and "vaccines cause autism" movement has done more damage to children and humanity than Mariah's Carey one day bad performance. At least Mariah doesn't go around promoting a harmful platform that affects children and immunocompromised people.

Re: A smear campaign botched (70,743) (70,747) by Gigi from USA
Wow. You really do sound like Stella. lol. I'm starting to believe the rumors now. Anyway, she may have gained a few more followers and an increase in "likes" per post (because that's the most important thing in the world, right Stella?) but the general public has not changed their views. If anything, from my observation, it has gotten worse. People are downloading/streaming WTB because it is a great song, period and NYE reminded them of that. They are following her because it's the thing to do. Heck, I'm even guilty of following individuals who make the news because it's human nature to want to be a part of the latest buzz if you have access to it (especially in train wreck situations like this one). I love Mariah, but I honestly do not see where DCP has anything to gain from this alleged "smear campaign". There are photos and videos of the female stand-in singing "Emotions" during the sound check. Therefore, I do believe there were technical difficulties, but I also believe more could have been done on both sides. I hate to say this, but Mariah is still trending on Facebook and I've read/seen nothing but negativity. Poor Lionel has fans begging him to drop her from his tour. All in all though, I think people are tired of hearing about it. They want it to die, but it won't with Stella still running to the press and firing people for no real logical reason. And I'm sorry, but I find it very suspicious that the marijuana dispensary photos were conveniently published right after the NYE performance. I can't help but to think Stella is behind a lot of this. I feel like she's creating bad situations so she can be Wonder Woman and save the day, but she's failing at this too. Another reason why I don't think DCP did this for "ratings" - no one is going to change their NYE plans this coming December just to see if an artist is going to lip sync or fail on stage. Generally speaking, people normally do three things on New Years Eve: go out, go to sleep, or turn on the TV to watch the ball drop. I'd only foresee a huge ratings increase if they invited Mariah back (which we all know won't happen).

Jennifer Lopez keeps being shady (70,746) by Sheila from United States
She continues the trend in 2017, but liking that negative IG post about Mariah's performance, knowing fully well she was A) not live B) in the comfort of her Las Vegas Arena, while Mariah looks like a villian, JLo gonna get hers eventually.

Didn't he get fired once before on the second leg of the Vegas shows when Banaka (I know that's not his name, he just reminds me of that funky breathe spray Binaca from back in the day lol) took over and got promoted to creative director/fake boyfriend?

A smear campaign botched (70,743) by Terna from Nigeria
Kudos to those who have Mariah's back in the whole debacle. I'm glad in this social media age we live in, the lambs [...] even just the general public were able to do damage control, especially on IG [...] Facebook. We went into overdrive defending her. Talk about any publicity is good publicity, "We Belong Together" spiked up in streams and downloads and has now been certified 3x Platinum, her YouTube views also experienced a surge and her following on Instagram is now at 5 million. Talk about a smear campaign gone awry. Instead, Mariah started 2017 with a hoard of new lambs. She stays winning. And that new album we all know is coming is gonna slay (all caps).

New years eve (70,740) by Tameka walker from United states
The music business is a difficult business. If any can have a come back it is Mariah Carey. She bounced back from 2001 and she will bounce back from this too. I do believe she was having technical difficulties. I could tell that because when I saw her she was messing with her ear piece. The one thing that no one can take away the fact that she is one of the best singers of our generation. A lot of people lip sync in order to make sure everything goes smoothly. All of the big stars do this. I remember Beyonce had lip sync and she caught negative publicity when she did it at president Obama's inauguration. She bounced back and now is nominated for nine Grammys. Mariah will bounce back too.

New options for Mariah (70,739) by Nikki from usa
They say the craziest thing is doing the same thing and expecting different results. Mariah is too trusting and very much co-dependent. If she wants things to go her way she needs to bring back that Aries fire of inspiration, creation, and passion. Stop letting others lead her around by the nose. When Mariah is passionate about something where nobody can tell her nothing and she pursues it with vigor she has overwhelming success 99.9% of the time. MC is good at making records or breaking them. Pick something MC. You could do a single concert on every continent including Antarctica each with a different setlist and different vocal arrangement that is on point. But, each location is somewhere you've never sang before. Do some grand showing like on HBO, but only for the very best concert. After a few repeats you can release the live dvd that is a compilation of all 7, like Butterfly, for sale. Take some of those songs (Close My Eyes, Butterfly, When I Saw You, Melt Away, Whenever You Call) or instrumentals of them to create actual music boxes that wind up. Never follow trends. Dig deep and come up with music that's epic and simply honest. Your pain, trials, and tribulations are your credentials - use them.

99 problems but reality ain't one (70,738) by Nikki from usa
I want to point out a few things I don't think anyone's considered about this decade about MC and also the media in general, especially TV. Remember when Adele didn't do so hot at the Grammy's, but it was blamed on the mic even though it just sounded like she was struggling vocally? The Grammy's took full accountability for it regardless. Now, remember when American Idol hired Mariah under false pretenses, blamed her for that year's ratings, and then blamed her for the shows entire demise 3 years later? Who does that? NBC Rockefeller is up next. They could've told her to buzz off and try again next year. Instead, she showed up to rehearsals as promised and delivered a lovely intro before they cut her ears. Mariah tried to "wing it' while deaf and they delivered isolated vocals all over the net the next day. Now, this has happened again at a much larger scale. Most people are aware that the music scene has changed where money/sales are concerned, but have you noticed TV has become more vicious? There are now thousands of channels fighting for viewership. Adele is a big name with a huge machine attached to her, so no one is going to mess with that. Mariah is a huge name with no machine attached to her. Nobody is scared of her or Stella and Mariah's proven she'll take crap without fighting back. Dick Clark used to be a shoo in for top talent, now their struggling to get headliners. It would make sense to do something to get a lot of views, so they can negotiate higher ad payments next year with more expensive talent, along with the added incentive of "show Mariah how it's done". Mariah can take the fall sense everyone thinks she's a diva and even if she outs them nobody would believe what she says.

I smell a fox in my henhouse (70,737) by Nikki from usa
ABC and the DCP aren't being on the up and up. I was following their statements at first when they claimed Mariah never showed up to rehearsals, but at the same time, I've seen very minor "tech difficulties" that resulted in a commercial break or Please Stand By screens until those were fixed. It doesn't make any sense that they kept that whole thing on air and refused to do any damage control. Anyone with any integrity whatsoever wouldn't do that. I believed MC's camp about that, but ultimately it was allowed to happen, because she didn't show up to rehearsals. Until I remembered her instagram account and recalled a picture she took. Sure enough, she was at rehearsals. That's when DCP claimed she was at rehearsals, but not soundcheck. This is just getting shadier. Since her 2014 debacle Mariah's been pretty meticulous about her sound whether lip or live. She's been doing great and even put in the effort to be early for her rehearsal spot. What doesn't make any sense is why they cut her short and only gave her 30 minutes to rehearse an elaborate 6 minute set. It sounds like she was rushed off. If she didn't do anything with "soundcheck" than she wouldn't have known about the ear pieces. I do think ABC was trying for headlines and views.
