Don't ever let them count you out (51,536) by Jon from Netherlands
I love how the interview ends. "If they counted me out, they're just gonna have to count me back in". Time to do it again Mariah.

"Vision of Love" Jamaica (51,494) by Jon from Netherlands
As painful as it is to see that performance it has great ad-libs and it's a great rendition when she's doesn't go off on a tangent. Her voice was great. Her attitude was all wrong. That part when she sings in a crazy way and says "I'm just kidding" is enough to make me wanna go back in time, go to Jamaica, pay for the ticket, slap her and ask for the money back.

The First Vision (51,493) by Jon from Netherlands
VOL has become my favorite song. It's been an addiction of late actually. It's interesting how an 18 years old girl writes a song like this and it's also curious that regardless of an extensive sucessful and acclaimed catalogue the first song is the best (or one of the best depending on who you ask). Also interesting that I don't feel like she ever gave a good VOL performance in the first years. It's as though she was holding back. 96 has great performances of course. Later on as well but I believe it's a song way ahead of the artist and one that the artist needs to grow into. The same way people talk about Halleluyah and Leonard Cohen. VOL is a song from someone with great life experience and Mariah has yet to give her most heartfelt rendition of this timeless song. I hope to be there to see it when she does.

Bring it on home (51,403) by Jon from Netherlands
I had no idea this song was available on YouTube. This is what happens when I get stuck on repeats of Vision Of Love from 96/05/06.

Beautiful acoustic (51,402) by Jon from Netherlands
This is perfect. I'm not gonna say Mariah should do a really stripped down acoustic concert. Many have said it before. But she should.

Mimi L. (51,242) by Jon from Netherlands
Maybe you are right, but it's nice to see Mariah moving forward and seeing that the damage might have been temporary. It also seems like there is a little more substance here than with the other guy that only knew about gyms and making himself famous.

Romance (51,234) by Jon from Netherlands
I hope Mariah and Brett are together. Moving on this quickly is great. Sometimes the best love is found with someone you don't even think is your type. They seem to have fun together and it would be nicer to see Mariah with a maturer man instead of a childish self-absorbed idiot.

The roof (51,203) by Jon from Netherlands
Genious songwriting. It's a very realistic song. It's not like "Forever" or "Never forget you". It takes a real story-telling artist to write something like that. Norman mentioned it after my "Lullaby" post and now I'm using "The roof" to relieve my own personal experience because it does transport you to a specific moment of your life (at least you can adapt it) and not necessarily to an emotional state (like the more generic songs).

That radio moment (51,201) by Jon from Netherlands
Was brilliant. Brett and Mariah are closer than I thought and clearly have a great time together. They sounded like they were having a blast celebrating their anniversaries.

Job interview (51,150) by Jon from Netherlands
Anyone else going to job interviews and finding inspiration and energy in Mariah's music? Just me? [...] is a good example but the one I'm really focused these days is VOL. Hopefuly I'll be able to say "I realized a dream and I visualized what came to be." Btw am I the only one that changes a bit Mariah's lyrics to fit slightly better whatever situation I'm going through?

Lullaby (51,091) by Jon from Netherlands
Anyone else in love with this song? Perfect combination of longing for someone, being nostalgic and at the same time in peace with the past and just being able to enjoy the opportunity to "relief the splendor". Yes I'm in love but for now I can only really relate to My All.

Nick Cannon Archives (51,071) by Jon from Netherlands
I think it's great to post about him. Understanding the marriage and divorce is key to understanding Mariah. Anyway she isn't really out there right now so this is the only info we can get.

Honey (51,066) by Jon from Netherlands
One of the best things ever, one of the best songs ever, one of the best videos ever is now on Vevo. Honey Bad Boy remix. Could Mariah be more beautiful? No. Could the video be beter? No. Could a pop/hip hop collab be better? No.

Be aware people (51,035) by Jon from Netherlands
Jupiter is alligning with Uranos which made my cat sneaze the wrong way and give me the middle finger and because of that birds are now following me and telling me that Mariah named an album "The memoirs of an imperfect angel" because she is trying to tell us that she is not actually human but she can't be honest about it because if she does she'll be kidnapped by the USA governement and forced to tell us all where Elvis has been hiding all this time. A bunch of dead singers are actually not dead but composing new music including "We are the (underground) world". It's all fun and games until Cleopatra kills us all with the invaders from Mars.

Ben / Andrew (50,969) by Jon from Netherlands
There are other singers? You really believe that? Coming from the States I really don't see any. Pop music can be rather generic. Mariah crosses boundaries and really created something kind of unique specially because you know she writes her own lyrics. It's very powerful and others are a rather empty glass compared to Mariah. Andrew, I loved the last post. You can be repetitive and it eventually gets annoying but as long as you are honest I'll keep appreciating you. I see you have some dependencies on Mariah yourself. Just not blind ones. Not wanting to be personal but now I imagine you had your struggles growing up and Mariah really helped you. It did help us all. Gosh, she really needs to bring back that splendor. We all f****** need it. For good times and bad times. To get through the rain or just to shake it off.

Puzzled (50,916) by Jon from Netherlands
Not wanting to start anything thing with this but it kind of puzzles me that some people find absolutely nothing wrong with Mariah these days, no problem leaving stage mid song or whatever she is currently doing, but do see a problem with her clothes. Are we this superficial? Really? Am I the only one shocked with that? Don't get me wrong: there is nothing wrong about criticizing her clothes go ahead and do it but some people are uncomfortable with what she wears and find everything else ok. Am I a fan of the person who wrote Butterfly or am I a fan of Paris Hilton? PS: Shelly I had no idea I could summon people but I love my newly acquired power. Loved to see you back on the board.

Andrew (50,630) by Jon from Netherlands
Andrew, that sounds like a plan, for many reasons: growing up I never had anyone liking Mariah (I come from Portugal and the lady is not big there, except during WBT) and I was never lucky enough to see her in concert. I really want to see her this year but on the Christmas shows. I say we do it. Would be great to meet other Mariah fans.

Sharing is caring (50,614) by Jon from Netherlands
Unofficial reggae remix of IBLYLT. It has summer written all over it and it's irresistible. Remix (I think unofficial) of SIO. It is one of the best remixes I ever heard. Mashup between TMB and Sexual Healing. Perfect blend. Miss You. Not so famous but perfect on so many levels and takes me down memory lane. Make It Happen C&C remix. Haunting piano cover of My All. Instrumental of I Wish You Well.

Nikki / media (50,602) by Jon from Netherlands
Whatever our opinion about those 4 months might be one thing is true: the media is crap. They are feeding negativity to people frustrated with their lives and happy to see someone fail. Almost all of it is a lie and it's pointless to read. People get happy to see someone fail when they should take notice of how much work they have put in their careers and how good examples some of them can be.

Andrew (50,601) by Jon from Netherlands
Yes you lost me with that post. How dare you criticize her? How dare you Sir? Seriously, I think the worst she's ever done was Hero at X Factor where she didn't move at all. But she was great at the Beacon so I will try to go next December if she does the shows again. Let us hope.

Early today I found out Celine Dion has been trying to shoot down God and Mariah is a ghostbuster. I had to laugh out loud. I searched YT for a good montage of hand movements but didn't find it. WBT at MTV comes to mind as a good example (restrained but awesome) but I've been wanting to share this video and is appropriate now because it showcases important moves including (but not limited to): "banging on the door", "I want you for the army", " British queen turbo wave" and the inevitable "handing out of pancakes to the audience" in the end. All of this is taking me back to when I started being a fan. I was blowned away. That CTTA at Divas Live was fierce and also had the badass raising of the eye brown warning you that you better not try to take it away from her because she will hunt you down. Gotta love Mariah. Just gotta love her. She does suck you in. Everybody should watch her performances. The world would be, in a matter of pie, filled with Mariah fans.

Mariah vs Celine (50,540) by Jon from Netherlands
Everybody is comparing voices but nobody is comparing arm choreography. Mariah's is way better. All classic moves, including the "wax on" and the "squeeze and shake vigorously imaginary object and then throw it to the side while running on stage" or the "petting of an imaginary elephant". It's all very theatrical and half the experience for me. Now seriously, Mariah is way better. Celine has a great voice in a lot of technical aspects but it just sounds bad to the ears. It's not pretty at all (oddly it's only when she sings). IMHO the only one that could compete with Mariah was Whitney.
