About Ian from United Kingdom: Been there since day 1

Hate speech - negative Andrew (64,870) by Ian from United Kingdom
"The gay community seems to think this negative behavior is acceptable." Sounds like homophobia to me and I take offence to this as a gay man. There are certain people who post on here (mentioning no names) and I kind of know what to expect from them and usually get bored, pissed off or annoyed with them so I just don't read their posts anymore, it works well for me so I would suggest that if you don't like Andrew's posts don't read them. Simple.

Message about Nice (64,320) by Ian from United Kingdom
Puts a message about Nice on Twitter, cool, a few hours later puts a posing picture with the caption "having a splash", so not cool. I wonder if she is even aware that she has a twitter account.

1OAK (63,883) by Ian from United Kingdom
Started to watch the footage but had to stop as I find it too disturbing. As much as I love Mariah (been there since day 1) I am finding it more and more difficult to watch these videos and images of a beautiful and extremely talented woman become a sad parody of herself. She is really living in a fantasy world and at a time when she is not releasing new music she is coming across as a thirsty, tacky woman with lots of money and no taste and not much else.

Thanks May.

DJ Mimi (63,863) by Ian from United Kingdom
I hate to say it but I did call it, she didn't DJ, she posed and didn't even attempt to make it look like she was DJing, looked terrible and has basically embarrassed herself. Shocking.

DJ Mimi (63,732) by Ian from United Kingdom
In my experience as a DJ of 20 years most celebrity DJs have someone cueing the music, working the mixer etc. in the background. She will probably pose a lot with headphones strategically placed so as not to mess her hair up and do very little work. I'm sure she'll have input as far as the playlist goes but I'm sure she's just out to have a bit of fun.

Hate to say it but she looks high.

Mariah's World (62,249) by Ian from United Kingdom
Just saw the trailer for Mariah's World and have to say it was not as bad as I thought it might be, it might even be fun. Here's hoping. (Oh yeah, Stella was in the trailer, surprise surprise lol.)

MC (62,025) by Ian from United Kingdom
Dipped in and out of this site for many years but seems like it's all about personalities and egos recently (Andrew, Deidre aka Martyn, Mimi L etc.). I first came here for the love of music that came from MC but it's so boring now with all the fashion, make-up and Stella related stuff. Let's concentrate on the musical output (when it happens) and ditch all the crap that doesn't actually matter, you don't actually know her, as much as you would like to think you do and she does not listen to or care what you write about her, Mariah lives in a bubble, sad but true and kinda expected. I'm sure she will release some good (maybe even great) material in the future but in the meantime we just have to keep it together and support without making a mess on a site she doesn't really care about.

Visuals / Lemonade (61,817) by Ian from United Kingdom
Martyn, I couldn't agree more with you, we do need something a bit more abstract, dare I say "arty" from Mariah, as far as videos go, I always loved the Butterfly video, because she looked like she had been dragged through a hedge backwards and yes the spoken word bits on Lemonade are boring as hell, but the actual videos are quite random and therefore interesting to watch, without these images the music is quite bland, but it just goes to show with the right visuals it can be so much more, Mariah has great music so you would reckon with great videos she could be a lot more relevant.

Re: Bianca (61,355) (61,356) by Ian from United Kingdom
Have to agree with Andrew on this, Bianca had her day, we all saw it on the Rainbow tour and it was fun, she's a bit old to be doing this now. Only way I could see it working in her favour if it was maybe Bianca doing trailers for Mariah's World slagging Mariah off, then it could be funny.

Re: Mary (61,334) by Ian from United Kingdom
Sarah, I couldn't agree more, I've been a fan of Mariah since 1990, a fan of Mary J Blige since 1992 and still love both. They are both to me artists who can touch you in different ways and both have had their ups and downs through their careers yet always when people think they are past it, pull it back and deliver the goods. Mariah will always be my number one but Mary is not too far behind. (Also I have major love for Patti LaBelle, Gladys Knight, Regina Belle, Puff Johnson (R.I.P), CeCe Winans. I could go on and on.)

Re: What is happening (61,180) (61,181) by Ian from United Kingdom
I know what you mean, I'm just concerned that like someone else who posted here, I am also on the drug Truvada, does this mean my teeth will also fall out (never been told this is a possible side effect, no pun intended) or should I just embrace the fact that it might lead to another meeting with Mariah?

Stella (60,926) by Ian from United Kingdom
In a couple of years we won't even remember her name. Chill out.

Re: The 90s (60,586) by Ian from United Kingdom
Mimi L (the fact you use that name just makes me piss myself) I'm guessing you are new money (since 1997?) so I'll leave you to worry about the shade of MC's hair/lipstick while I reminisce on the times I had on the Daydream/Rainbow/Charmbracelet tours. Lol.

The 90s (60,575) by Ian from United Kingdom
I'd never have thought I'd be saying this but I'm actually missing the 90s when people talked about MC as a serious singer/songwriter, it seems now on social media it's all about the fashion (Mimi L) and stuff that is not that important (her kids, hair/make-up, family, bodysuits etc). I miss the days when it seemed we were all waiting for new music rather than a running commentary on her style and diva antics. I guess old age is catching up. Lol. Oh and can we stop saying crap like "I don't know her", "slay", "snatching weaves", "our queen" and all those other annoying buzzwords/phrases, it's just immature and childlike, I come here to chat about the artist, if I want stupidity I'd watch the Kardashians and vote for Trump. Not to rant but daaaaahling is the worst. It sounds awful when she says it so just don't.

Re: Sweet Sweet Fantasy (60,494) by Ian from United Kingdom
I would have liked to see a couple of album tracks or b-sides, maybe a new cover, as it is it's just a singles/greatest hits type of show, its almost like she is afraid to do a song that some people may not know, it's all a bit safe. Am I the only one who thinks this?

Sweet Sweet Fantasy (60,466) by Ian from United Kingdom
So from what I see this was Glasgow:
1. Fantasy (Sweet Dub Mix)
2. Emotions
3. My All
- costume change -
4. Always Be My Baby
5. I'll Be There
- costume change -
6. Touch My Body (medley)
7. I Know What You Want / Obsessed / It's Like That / Shake It Off / Loverboy / Heartbreaker / Fantasy remix
- costume change -
8. Against All Odds
9. One Sweet Day
10. When You Believe
11. Hero
12. We Belong Together
13. Without You
14. Butterfly outro
So she renames her Vegas show, drops a couple, adds a couple and that's good? I'm sure I'll love the show but that is one lazy set. For the masses, not the fans.

Re: The future (60,302) by Ian from United Kingdom
He lives in lalaland. I come from the UK too and am laughing so hard, you must be so proud coming from a country where people think Donald Trump would be a good choice as president. Seriously though, not all UK fans share Andrew's views, we are individuals as are MC fans all over the world. Let's not pitch countries against each other, can't we all just get along. Lol.

Sam Smith / Disclosure (60,151) by Ian from United Kingdom
I think Mariah missed the boat as far as working with Disclosure, Mary J Blige did it first with her London Sessions album and it would be like Mariah jumping on a bandwagon which might smack of desperation. A duet with Sam Smith could work although I would prefer a George Michael collaboration, 2 artists with years of experience behind them, could give them both a huge hit if they put a bit of thought into it and a lot of promotion.

Not a good look (59,887) by Ian from United Kingdom
I don't think we can say Rihanna is getting number one singles because Chris Brown beat her up years ago and people feel sorry for her. She is current, appeals to kids, teens and young adults and has a great image with videos to match and unfortunately Mariah has none of these qualities anymore. I am sure teenagers see Mariah as too old for them, the styling has been so over the top and old fashioned for years and it doesn't matter how many rappers she employs on every track, she needs some current radio friendly tracks with videos people will want to view more than once. We all know she is more than capable and unfortunately Mariah is at this stage in her career has to work a lot harder than Rihanna, Taylor or Beyonce to be taken seriously.

Re: Mariah and George M duet and '96-'97 in music (59,736) by Ian from United Kingdom
I always thought Mariah and George would be amazing together. 1990 was an amazing year. MC dropped her first album and Listen Without Prejudice came out which were my 2 favourite albums of that year, both still sound great 26 years later which can not be said for a lot of artists. I live in hope they will duet at some point in the future.

Re: Sweet Sweet Fantasy (59,701) by Ian from United Kingdom
She has said expect the unexpected but unfortunately I think it will be the Vegas show plus Without You. If it is I'll be disappointed. If this is the case it shows she is not thinking of the fans but instead trying to cater for the masses.

Re: Maxwell (59,689) by Ian from United Kingdom
Agree Maxwell could work really well with Mariah, I would also like to hear her do a full blown duet with Will Downing or BeBe Winans. Actually thinking about it a duets album at some point would be nice (rappers don't count lol).

Ian Drews cover of Never Forget You (59,531) by Ian from United Kingdom
It's actually quite sweet, I don't usually care for Mariah covers but you can tell he loves the song and that makes it work.
