About Ms. Giselle from USA: Big fan of Mariah since 1901 :-).

You must be young lol. [...] Mariah has never looked to see what's trending, especially with 'Britney, Katy, Miley lol. She stopped the album, because Triumphant flopped hard and Island wasn't all that thrilled with it or the album and wasn't promoting her at all. '#Beautiful was something she came up fast to not let AI promo slip through her fingers. The way people took at it, I think was a surprise to her and her team and Island. They knew the first batch of music wasn't good. She went back to the paper and got back into things and didn't wanna stop untill she took her time. I think this new era is do or die. This will be her last album on the old contract. If it flops hard, I don't see any label throwing a whole lot her way even if she is Mariah Carey, not when they have teeny bopper singers who are young and fan base have throw away money to spend.

I agree with everything you said. I forgot to mention about the sales. I was a big fan during that era. Fans buying multiple copies of songs, didn't happen untill late in the game In the 90's. Starting with, you guessed it, ''TGIFY'' lol. Also it wasn't just Mariah fans who bought that song, 98 degree fans also bought copies and I remember when the video was shown on TRL. When people say Mariah got her #1's from price cuts didn't start untill ''TGIFY'' And really got slashed with "Loverboy". Look at ''Someday'', non fans don't even really remember that song unless you're a die hard fan. That single price wasn't cheap and that went to #1. The constant calling to radio stations happened later in her career. That only happened because once Mariah left Sony, Tommy pulled strings and had her songs blacklisted from radio (clear channel). He was also paying those stations to play JLo who only got her #1's because of that (at that time). The Grammies just flat out didn't and still don't like her. Why they snubbed her in 96 and 06 (used her for promotion, yet didn't air her wins on TV, yet the year before and after aired [...].

I disagree with half of what you said. Let's go back to the 90's. Mariah was respected by the public, 90-96 especially 93-97 were huge. You couldn't find a bigger Pop star than Mariah Carey. Which is why Madonna was trying it with her around this time. The people that didn't respect her were industry people. A lot of them didn't like her type of music, her huge rise in sales and popularity. Also it was widely known that a lot of them didn't like Tommy who campaigned hard for her and they all didn't respect the fact that she married him and saw him for her success. If it were up to the public she would have won every Grammy that year lol. Her not winning in 96 was do to critics accusing them of not picking anyone outside the box and who was better outside of the ''box'' than Alanis at that time.
