It's just a joke lol. I would never purchase something so ridiculous though, which is why I made the comment. That's no shade towards you Edward for buying it. Each to his or her own.

I'd rather eat my own liver than buy something so ridiculous lol.

I agree, which is partly why I have been radio silent on the issue of lack of promotion in recent days. The way I see it is, if Mariah can't be bothered to promote her record, or give fans some memorable performances (ie not dubbed or lipped), then I'm certainly not going to be bothered. If Mariah thinks that promoting some ridiculous beverage is in touch with what her fans want, then she's clearly out of touch and needs a serious reality check. Either that, or she's showing what's really important to her, which is the dollar sign. I can't tell you how disappointing it is to see someone, who says they seriously love their craft, fail to show it any due support or recognition. 57,000 copies on an album in her first week in the US shows how much her fan base has deteriorated. I can guarantee you that those 57,000 copies represent probably only around 35-40k fans, as a lot of them will have bought multiple copies. Perhaps if she took live performances more seriously, as opposed to attending events to do with a brand of water or whatever, she's a) have more than 40,000 US fans left, and b) had a voice worth hearing live in tact.

I totally get your point, and agree with it for the most part, I was just playing lol. For the avoidance of doubt, I do know who J. Lo is, I just don't care for her, or what she stands for. I don't want to discuss her any further, she's a waste of my oxygen, finger movements, and time.

First week predictions US (44,196) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Mariah's first week sales predictions are in, and it's looking terrible. Sales of 65-70k have been predicted based one one day sales. I love the album and this would never affect my opinion of it, but perhaps Mariah, JD and the rest of her team should stop asking fans to go "do it for MC" on twitter, and actually get out there and do the work themselves. I don't believe in making fans do the work. That's not our job, it's Mariah's. She has barely promoted this, and will now suffer gross humiliation in the press as a result, which is a shame. A legend like Mariah should not have to justify herself.

Promotion (44,110) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Besides the World Music Awards, is Mariah doing anything in the US this week to promote her album?

I couldn't agree with you more on all fronts. This album is exactly what Mariah needed. It's mature, well written, flows as a body of work, and actually feels different for Mariah, whilst staying true to herself. One More Try is a song that just needs to be sung. No airs or graces. It just needs to be sung with raw emotion and power. For me, it's by far Mariah's worst cover. I could go further, but I'll leave it, as the rest of the album more than makes up for it.

George Golden (43,947) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
I think it's rather hypocritical of you to say that there are people on this messageboard who do not like Mariah. I don't remember seeing too many positive opinions from you regarding Mariah in the last 12 months. It's more than fair for someone to criticize a song on the album, irrespective of the criticism. Quite frankly, if Mariah puts an album into the public domain, and if people are going to use their hard earned cash to buy that album, then they are sure as hell entitled to give an opinion on a particular song. I think the album is great, I really do. However, One More Try was a massive let down to me. I've said that, and I have every right to do so. I'm not being overly negative in doing so, and nor am I taking away from the greatness that is this album. As per my previous post, it is a certified banger of an album and I can't wait to unwrap my copy. Thus, criticizing One More Try does not mean I do not like Mariah.

MIAM (43,918) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Having just streamed the album, I don't want to commit to an opinion too soon, but I have to say I really enjoyed it. The only song I did not like was One More Try. It was a very poor take by Mariah, both in terms of her vocal delivery and understanding of the lyrics. Everything else on the album was a banger. Love the collabo with Nas. His verse is great and Mariah smacks the shit out of that song. They are great together. Did I mention that almost everything on the album is a certified banger? Lol.

Today Show performance (43,755) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
By recent standards, it was actually quite good IMO. Not saying it was perfect, but it was good. I haven't seen Mariah look that confident on live TV in a while, so I don't want to say anything too harsh. By this point, we know the voice is not what it was, so I can't be arsed dwelling on that fact. YDK is a terrific song. It's everything I'm That Chick wishes it was, and is by far the best song Mariah has previewed so far. It's like a combo of Diana Ross, Prince and Mariah all rolled into one song. I love the vibe on it. In all fairness to Mariah, people have been criticising her new music for ages, but #Beautiful, Thirsty, and YDK are 3 excellent songs and have only wetted my appetite for the album. Note how Thirsty and YDK have shut some naysaying bloggers up. They've gone very quiet on criticising Mariah over the past week, and one blog (thatgrapejuice) resorted to a fake lip syncing scandal to make a story. It was ridiculous of course, because even though YDK was clearly lipped or not properly live, which is understandable, TMB and ABMB were definitely live. It was so stupid. I've stopped reading that blog - it's full of fake, "mean girls" type of support for Mariah. I'm just so happy for the music I've heard thus far. Mariah has really impressed me. Sidenote, apologies for the rambling message. I literally just woke up when typing this. Have a blessed weekend lambs.

Thirsty (43,599) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Thirsty is an absolute banger. Exactly what this album needed before its release. Judging from what I've heard thus far, I suspect Mariah is going to try to maintain a balance on this album, between classic ballads such as One More Try, mid-tempos like #Beautiful and the more hip hop infused numbers, such as Thirsty.

Letterman (43,307) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Whilst its annoying that Mariah is unlikely to perform any material on Letterman, I am still looking forward to the interview. I think Mariah and Letterman have good chemistry, and whilst he plays with her diva image, he knows when to get serious. It will be a good platform to discuss the album, I hope. Let's just hope Mariah turns up sober lol.

Lamb / airbrushing (43,158) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Hi Lamb, whilst I like both covers, I must say I prefer the non deluxe cover, especially for that reason. Mariah has a gorgeous nose. I don't know why she insists on airbrushing it out of existence. The pic looks a lot weirder than it should, which is a shame. It's otherwise a very good alternative cover.

Blake (43,151) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
A pre-order banner would actually be good promotion IMO. Even if IDJ don't pay for it, I think Mariah should. I know its not fair to expect her to do it, but I seriously would. Get those pre-orders in, which will help boost initial sales and thus the perceived buzz.

New album (43,133) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
I love the cover. Very sexy and very diva. The tracklist looks good. I must say, I was expecting a more exciting collaboration with R Kelly. I hope that they actually went into the studio and re-did BGK. Same with Mary. I don't want no copy and paste vocals on this album. If One More Try is a George Michael cover, then I will hit do cartwheels through the streets of London. It's a great song, by a criminally underrated talent, in the form of George Michael. I'm excited.

IDJ (43,019) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Oh my, it's all turning into one huge mess. Mariah and IDJ have been having differences of opinion for a while. However, this album has been years in the making, and yet they've not sorted it out yet. IDJ obviously feel threatened by an initial iTunes only release. If such a release strategy was to take off, it means the record company becomes less important, because there is less reliance on the company for distribution etc. Whilst I don't think a "surprise" iTunes release would be a great move for Mariah in terms of sales, I would like her to do it, with or without IDJ's permission, just to annoy them and make a point. In the unlikely event that it generated buzz for her album, and this sales, then that would be the icing in the cake lol.

Billboard cover (42,882) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
I love the Billboard cover, it's a classic Mariah shot. It's very similar to that photo that was used a lot in magazines and when Mariah was doing promo during Glitter. I'm sure you guys know the picture, where Mariah more or less pulls the exact same pose, but with different lighting and non wet hair. I suspect Mariah will drop her album to iTunes before May 6th, so it's probably best to keep your eyes posted from this Tuesday onwards, as it could drop anyday. May 6th might be the release date for the physical album. We shall see though, as I could be totally wrong. It is just these "secret" releases tend to work like that. I think Pharrell did the same thing.

Ryan / Martyn (42,797) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Do either of you gave any sources for your last messages? Not throwing any shade at either of you, but a lot of fans have been posting messages, which appear to be more fantastical than based on truth, when it comes to info on Mariah. I only write this because there's so much being written and said about Mariah atm, yet none of us actually have a clue as to what the reality if her situation is. I hope she just releases the album and gets on with it.

I'm not bothered whether my messages get a thumbs up or down, as it's only a matter of opinion, but clearly there are some juvenile members on the board who don't know how to express themselves properly, and are indeed using the thumbs down in blanket approach to messages, which defeats the point. Therefore, I think it's a good idea to only have a thumbs up option. Clearly common sense is not all that common, as some members of this board appear to lay testament to.

It's from the Butterfly era, and is probably less pop arty than yours, but still in that mould. I did it using a teal colour, and it hangs proudly in my apartment lol. I may take a pic and show it here. I will keep you posted.
