About Stephen from London, United Kingdom: Mariah fan since 1902.

Thank you. I created my own pop art canvas of Mariah a few years back. It proudly hangs on one of my walls lol. I really like this your avi though. I may have to get a print of that.

Special K / Mariah in the flesh (42,293) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Special K, that's a cute story, and sounds like a really special memory. I have met Mariah twice, and seen her in concert a few times. I think she looks beautiful on tv, but I think it still doesn't do her justice. To me, she's unbelievably beautiful in the flesh. Her skin is flawless and so dexterous. Her boobs are heaving, and very noticeable lol. She's not fat at all, and is very charming. I find it difficult to put into words how stunning in found her if I'm being honest.

What I've said is in no way a hypothesis, it's merely just an opinion. I have no real experience of the inner workings of a record company. You make done good points though, and clearly if that's what Mariah said, it can't just be dismissed per se. However, you hit the nail on the head when you referred to Mariah's ego. Do you think it's possible that she may be bending the truth to save her ego? It's not exactly a good look for Mariah's record company to not want to release her album due to lack of confidence in her selling power, so it wouldn't be unexpected for Mariah to massage the truth so as to appeal to her ego. I'm not saying this is true, but in my honest opinion, I think it's more likely.

That's right, Leona's album is a perfect example. The most annoying part is, IDJ are failing to realise that an album can actually sell without the aid of a massive hit single. Sometimes it is possible to sell an album based on a few strong singles and clever album promotion. Just look at J Cole's Born Sinner album. There was no hit single off of that, but he shifted some very respectable numbers, and achieved a number one album. Unfortunately for Mariah, that ship has probably sailed. The buzz she had in 2012 and 2013 is now gone. To think, Summer 2012 was when the album was due to be released, off of the back of Triumphant, and now fans and casual listeners have been waiting for nearly 2 years since that point. It's not a good look, and her momentum has gone. The signs are promising for Mariah releasing a stellar body of work, but whether it will see the light of day or have the impact it deserves, remains to be seen.

Edward, I hadn't thought of it like that, but you're spot on. Mariah probably has little control over that at this stage. If it gets delayed at this stage, they might as well agree to a mutual termination of her contract. It clearly isn't working.

May 6th (42,222) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Does anyone think that Mariah will release an album on May 6th? The longer she spends in the Bahamas, finishing the album (which she has been finishing since 2011), the more dubious I am getting. As much as I want her to release an album on May 6th, I'm not certain that Mariah will have everything that needs to have in place to push the album. Hopefully, she can release it on May 6th, irrespective of how well it does, finish her contract with IDJ, and get on with her career elsewhere.

Special K (42,221) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Oh no, you did not just go there, did you? Jokes, let's just agree to disagree and move on. You're right regarding it being Kelly's truth though, and not ours. Also, it would be interesting to hear what Mariah's truth on this situation may be. Personally, I think Kelly meant what she said in a negative way, otherwise you just wouldn't say it at all or you not phrase things in the way she did. But, oh well, moving on is not always easy for both parties. *Plays TAOLG and then realises how bad it is and switches to anything from Daydream.* Lol.

Mus (42,174) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Mus, I must agree with you. What a fool. Kelly's recollection of events should not be given too much weight (no pun intended), given the fact that she appeared on the TTR remix in 2002, and the fact that she has appeared in interviews beyond leaving Mariah as a back up singer, stating how supportive Mariah was. She and Mariah can't have ended on such bad terms if that was the case. Kelly is bitter because of her own failings, and clearly finds it hard to accept that her career never took off, due to poor music, bad songwriting and a total lack of charisma on her behalf. I have never liked her, and always thought Mariah had better backup singers in any event. Melonie Daniels would wipe the floor with her sorry ass.

Hi Ryan, I think it was for Sherry Tatum, who is not well at the moment and has undergone some form of operation. She is recovering and doing well though.

Special K (42,032) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
I do think it's a slow burner. I've always liked the song, and think non lambs seem to like it. Radio impressions are increasing with each day, albeit by a small amount. If Mariah went on Arsenio, Ellen, Fallon, and performed the song, it would do wonders for the song. Sidenote: it's great to see you back messaging on the website.

Stacey / disagreements (42,015) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
Well said Stacey. I haven't contributed thus far, because it seems that every few months we have the same conversation, where people need to be reminded that opinions are just that, an opinion; not fact. We may disagree, but it's subjective and thus shouldn't interfere with anyone else's existence or happiness. Hence, why is it ridiculous to get offensive and name call as a result. I have found that lately on this board, there have been one or two people, who have been so absurd with how they have responded to people's opinions, that I cannot even be bothered to engage with them, even when they disagree with mine. Worse still, there are some who don't even read messages properly, and respond in an aggressive way, when what they are saying is in fact in agreement with the message they are getting ants in their pants about in the first place. Maybe the webmaster needs to out a be nice or leave Mariah banner on the top of the page to remind people about basic manners.

Management (41,867) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
The impression I got from a recent interview with Mariah (I can't remember which one), is that Jermaine isn't technically her manager. Mariah appears to be in some weird situation where Randy was her manager, and then Jermaine, both friends. She hasn't referred to either of them as being her manager, not as far as I am aware, and seems quite coy regarding the issue. I wonder if there are contractual issues with her management or PMK (I think that's their name)? I'm just thinking out loud here, but I suspect there's so much more going on behind the scenes than we are being told. Whatever it is, Mariah needs to get her act together. Think of any big star, whether it be Beyonce, Rihanna, Gaga, Pink, they all have solid management behind them. They have a management team qualified to handle their needs. LA Reid made sure Mariah had a team and machine behind her to push her throughout Mimi, and that has not been in place since 2008. IMHO, I think LA Reid abandoned Mariah after she married Nick in 2008, and was annoyed because he invested so much money in E=MC2 after waiting over 3 years for that album to be delivered. He had no interest in anything Mariah related thereafter, and instead pumped money into Rihanna, who put out an album a year, irrespective of the quality. Whilst LA Reid has no right to control Mariah's private life, you can understand why he was mad for her abandoning E=MC2. Mariah needs a new team, a new focus and less yes people. She is surrounded by cretins IMO.

Edward (41,817) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
You are too funny man. Let's move on haha. I agree, IDJ are clearly not willing to invest in Mariah. Her videos in recent years have clearly not had good budgets, hence why Nick has directed a few. I do think that low budget videos can be done well and tastefully. Some of the most simple videos have been some of the best in history, such as Chris Isaak's Wicked Game, or even Beyonce's Single Ladies. I'm not saying Mariah should do a video like either of them, but the point is more thought needs to go into her videos, irrespective of the budget. Sitting down half naked with a wind machine isn't working lol. If she wants to do sexy or sultry, then I suggest she looks at both My All and The Roof from her own back catelog, which were great videos and probably not the most expensive she has made.

You are both way too kind, how very thoughtful of you both to say. All I can say is that I just do me, which isn't always positive lol, just balanced. Have a great day.

BET Honors (41,744) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
I enjoyed the performance, but then again, my expectations in terms of Mariah's live showings have been seriously lowered in the past 18 months. Mariah looked stunning. The stage setting was fantastic. It had a classic, golden Hollywood feel. I think Mariah does that look with ease. I enjoyed that element of it. Mariah looked like she sang the song live, but dubbed over the vocals. From the fan recordings I heard, if the original vocals were live, then Mariah should have let it be, because she sounded great.

That's what I was thinking. They seem to be trying to get radio on board, hence the multiple radio interviews. Also, I think the chart position, of which only 62% can be contributed to downloads, shows how strong her streaming stats were this week. Having two videos out in quick succession and the links to the songs on her Vevo immediately clearly helped. That's a decent opening week if you ask me. Well done to team Mariah. There's been a lot of negativity on here lately, some of which has been justified, so it's nice to have this pleasant surprise.

You're Mine / relevancy (41,530) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
I like You're Mine. I think it's a very well produced cut. I'm glad we got to hear it. As good as I think the song is, I am not certain that it was the wisest choice for a single. Its a mid tempo number, that has a hynotic hook, but in terms of radio, it is likely to be a slow burner, and with Mariah atm, I'm not cure that radio is willing to give her a chance to allow the song to burn, so to speak. Mariah needed an out and out banger to blast her onto radio. In terms of relevancy, I think it's clear that from the press coverage Mariah gets, she's more than relevant. She made the front page of a notable UK tabloid, simply for the black BET dress. Irrespective of the reasons for her making the press, the fact remains is that there's an interest in her. However, Mariah's people and a lot of the fans on this board have got it wrong, Mariah shouldn't be trying to stay relevant for a younger audience. That's ridiculous at this stage of her career. She should be trying to recapture the more mature fans that she's already lost. Tweens don't buy albums, they buy Rihanna singles. Adults buy albums from the likes of Adele, and a more mature mature sounding artists. Mariah lost a shed loads of fans in the late 90s and has never truly recovered, despite TEOM. She should focus on those fans, who are obviously older, and stop trying to get teens to buy into her. It will look desperate and pathetic. YME as a single is a step in the right direction if you ask me. Not the video though lol.

Album title (41,500) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
I would like a simple, one word title if possible. Obviously, it's Mariah's artistic freedom to do as she pleases. However, something strong would be good, you know to cement her legacy, like Undisputed.

Lee / performances (41,489) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
I agree, it's strange that Mariah hasn't started performing the song yet. In her defence, the song has only been out less than a week, so there is time, and she may have some planned. She's doing a lot of radio interviews, which is good. I do think that she should have tried to perform on Kimmel, as opposed to just that skit. Of all the people who were in that skit, she was the one with something new to promote. She really should have maximised that opportunity. When WBT came out, I remember she performed on literally every format available. It was after the performance in a teal/blue dress, on Leno I think, that the song really started to gain some traction. I think Mariah has worked hard thus far, but she needs to up her game and focus on some more maintream promo.

I was being ironic, I've been very impatient lol. I've been moaning about the lack of an album since 1902 lol.
