About Lainsky from Philippines: A Mariah Carey fan since "Love Takes Time." However, "Butterfly" remains my favorite album of all time. Timeless!

Re: MC's sexiest album cover (98,470) (98,479) by Lainsky from Philippines
Butterfly it is, for me, too. It is followed by Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel and Mariah Carey. To complete the top 5, let me include #1s and of course, TEOM.

Jam & Lewis feat. Mariah (98,137) by Lainsky from Philippines
Yey! New music from our queen Mariah Carey! It has an infectious vibe in it and sounds radio friendly. I hope it will reach the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 if not #1. Well, you can only hope for these days. It seems radio DJs are counting her out. Not sounding fresh though for it sounds her previous songs but much better than 2010s releases.

Re: Caution deserved better (98,109) (98,115) by Lainsky from Philippines
Agree, I love Caution too! It's better than MIAMTEC, MOAIA, and Charmbracelet. But I guess, it's sales and overall performance has something to do with Mariah's status after 28 years. Rare classic icon produces hit. Only Cher, as I recall, was able to hit No.1 with Believe in 1999 at 51 and Mariah is 48 then. It would be great if Mariah could break this record by Cher. Going back to Caution, I agree with A No No as promo or lead single then, remix followed by Caution (it has the radio vibe), Giving Me Life, and then Stay Long Love You. I think these singles could make a difference in its performance for these are new beautiful sounds of her. The released singles are old formulas. Clearly, it's not working anymore. Now, she can create a new, fresh and infectious sound that most people would love to hear from her. I am still hoping for another WBT moment. Oh well, we can only wish and hope for.

Re: Lead The Way (98,052) (98,053) by Lainsky from Philippines
You're welcome Nikki! Glad you like it. It's always in my playlist and until now, I still regret that many listeners surely have not heard LTW because of the album and movie controversies. Glitter is one of her best albums. It's in my top 5 or even top 3!

Lead The Way (98,051) by Lainsky from Philippines
I was reading an article from Archives mentioning Carey's lost music. And I have to agree with what they said about "Lead The Way". Next to Butterfly song, I believe this is one of her best and greatest ballads and work in her entire career. If she could create something like this and release it commercially, it could be, again, her chance to have a worldwide hit, if not hitting No. 1. Just saying, but I don't think it's going to happen with the people she's currently working with for her next album.

Article: In 1991, "I Don't Wanna Cry" crowned the Hot 100 (98,008) by Lainsky from Philippines
In this post, I simply would like to thank the people behind MCA! Thank you, guys so very much. Reading Mariah's success stories like this that I have missed because I was too young, and reminiscing those I have witnessed both brings memories! Basking on her chart successes, especially now that it seems too far-fetched to hope for, reminds us how great she was and is as an artist. Music enthusiast may not consider her a legendary star but undeniably, Mariah is such an icon. Who cares, anyway? All I know is music industry will have a huge black hole without the likes of Mariah, Whitney, Aretha, and Madonna. They are the reasons why we have AG, TS, Rihanna, and other budding singers. As for the unsuccessful stories, it reminds us how she triumphed over those! Thus, it remains inspirational and encouraging. No wonder she is a "hero" of many young women and LGBTQIA+ out there. Good job MCA and congratulations!

Fave live performances (97,919) by Lainsky from Philippines
Over the weekend, I watched Mariah's live performances from her Tokyo Dome Concert (1996), Thanksgiving (1994), VH1 Divas Live (1998), and TAOM (2006). I realized that I watched her full performances on the following songs. I guess, it will be my all-time favorite live performances of her. I enjoyed truly all of it.
1. Tokyo Dome - Emotions, Fantasy, I Don't Wanna Cry, Make It Happen, Anytime You Need A Friend.
2. Thanksgiving - Emotions, Hero, Without You, Anytime You Need A Friend, Someday, Vision of Love, Love Takes Time.
3. Divas Live - My All, Make It Happen, Chain of Fools. For some reason, I love her total look here.
4. TAOM - Heartbreaker, Dreamlover, Make It Happen, Fly Like A Bird, Don't Forget About Us, We Belong Together.
The only One Sweet Day live performance that I love is from the Madison Square Garden, best live rendition ever. The rests of the songs from this concert, well, I love the album version for some reason lol! Just sharing guys.

Recounting the first bought album experience (97,660) by Lainsky from Philippines
Instead of the list and arguing over issues, how about reminiscing our first experience when we bought an album of Mariah for the first time? It was 1994 when I had my first ever album of her, which is Music Box on a cassette tape. I was barely 16 then. I could not stop playing it all day until the night. I mean it was like one round in the morning, another round in the afternoon, and then another in the evening before I go to sleep. No track skipping because it was hard to do that with a cassette tape. Although I have known her through "Love Takes Time" for the first time, it was Music Box I got to own first. It was followed by Daydream, #1s, and then I bought the rest of her albums, all in a cassette tape until Rainbow. The first CD I owned was Rainbow. I stopped buying the cassette tapes then and started collecting her CDs. What was your experience?

Re: Tommy Mottola, a monster? (97,554) (97,565) by Lainsky from Philippines
Not siding with Tommy or whatsoever but we have to see him as broken as Mariah too. He was divorced, so, relationship was not his cup of tea. Music industry, on the other hand, was his expertise at that time and he knew exactly what to do with someone extraordinary like Mariah Carey. We cannot deny the fact that Tommy, partly and a huge part of it if I may add, made her who she is today. Our experiences in life, both good and bad, matter. Every experiences matter. Not that I am glad but it was good that Tommy had to happen in Mariah's life and music career.

Album rankings (97,480) by Lainsky from Philippines
I just noticed that Butterfly is consistent to be in the Top 2 or No.4 of the lamb's personal rankings. Mostly, it's No.1 and 2. It is followed by Daydream I guess. Just saying this observation. See how obsessed I can be with lists or rankings.

Re: My ranking of Mariah's albums (97,421) (97,454) by Lainsky from Philippines
I tried and I failed lol! I could not resist sharing my own list as if anyone cares. Like Bill, I love rankings that's why I was obsessed with Billboard Charts, radio countdowns, and Mariah's single. Well, let me be happy just seeing it here. As mentioned in my previous post, Butterfly will always be on top. Hey! It's her magnum opus and kind of like her signature/identity album.
1. Butterfly
2. Daydream
3. Music Box
4. The Emancipation of Mimi
5. Glitter
6. Mariah Carey
7. Caution
8. E=MC2
9. Rainbow
10. Emotions
11. Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel
12. Charmbracelet
13. Me I Am Mariah The Elusive Chanteuse
Similar to others, I am leaving out the two holiday collections and the compilation albums. A lot of lambs like MIAMTEC, especially the younger and later fans of her. As a 90's baby, I honestly cannot relate much to this album. It's the reason why it is at bottom. Caution and MOAIA are her most cohesive works. The former suffer from her fading popularity and the latter suffer from wrong singles released like E=MC2.

Re: Favorite Mariah album? (97,318) (97,330) by Lainsky from Philippines
Ever since it was released, Butterfly have become and will always be my favorite album of hers. The rest of the albums interchange depending on my mood. Lately, I played mostly Caution and The Rarities.

Re: Migrate or I'm That Chick (97,290) (97,297) by Lainsky from Philippines
Agree, I'm That Chick should have been a single but I would not put it after TMB. E=MC2 is one album that released not the best singles. Migrate could have been next or Cruise Control, two outstanding songs that sounds different from her past music but still relevant and appealing. For The Record is one record I always regret for not being released as a single, which could have been her third single. Together with Migrate or Cruise Control, it could be her 20th No.1 song! Yes, another wish list that time. Then end the album with ITC.

Want to miss her (97,163) by Lainsky from Philippines
I wish not to see or hear Mariah for a year or two. Then, after that, she will surprise everyone with a new single and album. Not from the vault but fresh lyrics and sound. However, knowing her, she cannot stay away from the limelight. That's why it's just a wish.

Re: Next single from The Rarities (96,117) (96,148) by Lainsky from Philippines
Out Here On My Own should be continually promoted. Commercially and mass appeal, I believe Cool On You and then Mesmerized should be released and promoted with music videos and other stuff like discounted single price if necessary. (Lol. Her label used to do this with her singles anyway, so I don't see why they cannot do it again.) She can still sing these songs with her current voice plus, singles in this album sound timeless. Can You Hear can be a follow up after Mesmerized. Honestly, these four songs are my top favorites with Here We Go Around Again, I Pray, and One Night as runners up.

Fave five The Rarities songs (96,000) by Lainsky from Philippines
In the 90's, the artist normally releases 4-6 singles from an album depending on the record label too. On that note, what are your five favorites from this MC30 rare collection? Here are my fave five singles I wish the world would hear and listen to.

1. Out Here On My Own (still, can't get over)
2. Mesmerized (the title do its job)
3. Cool On You (infectious - do the coat, kick rocks, eat dirt)
4. Can You Hear Me (soulful Mariah)
5. Here We Go Around Again (old classic vibe you'll never get tired of listening)

If there will be B-side, that would be I Pray. For the fifth day in a row, this album is on repeat for at least 4-5x with volume almost in full lol. The neighbors definitely can hear it.

Re: The Rarities - track by track review (sorry) (95,937) (95,947) by Lainsky from Philippines
Thanks Bill for the review. Nicely done. I was about to do mine but I know someone would do it and I could not agree more. You made me laugh with your comment on STD lol. Also, I got that Chris Nickson Mariah book too and now, I remember she mentioned that song. CD1 gives me the same feeling I have during the 90s and 00s when I was finally listening to her each new album. Similarly, it is on repeat since October 2nd. Although honestly, I skip some tracks that I heard before. Loving Mesmerized, Cool On You, Can You Hear Me, and Here We Go Around Again. Plus I Pray in my solitude moment.

The Rarities must be singles (95,921) by Lainsky from Philippines
Out Here On My Own remains a best choice for a single before this album came out. I still hope this will become a Top 10 if not #1 - kind of unlikely but who knows.
Mesmerized has that relevance and catchy tune that can make people feel the last song syndrome, which makes it a good follow-up single. I wonder what could happen if this was included and released as the carrier single for MIAMTEC.
Cool On You also can be released as a single. Like Mesmerized, I love the sound and it has that retaining tune to listeners. So, she could go either of these two or both.
Can You Hear Me or I Pray are both beautiful ballads that tells you exactly what era where she recorded it. For commercial release, I would go for the former and promo for the latter. They are both divine with different message.
Yes, I am still wishing and praying and dreaming to see Mariah back at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and 200 chart. At this point of her career, this could be phenomenally historical and record-breaking. Well, regardless, I am grateful for these old new music from her. Timeless.

Out Here On My Own on repeat (95,641) by Lainsky from Philippines
Love to see the good reviews for this latest cover of our queen. If I have not heard the original song, I would have thought that it is her original. No kidding. It was very raw and very emotional, you all have felt it that's why most of us (yes, me too) nearly cried or cried actually and feeling so emotional listening to the entire song. Now I am curious to watch the movie both the 1980 and 2009 and then Flashdance. I have seen the 80s Fame and Flashdance but I was just a kid then. I love the raspiness of her voice here. Goosebumps are real. I love Glitter so much even if the world hates it. They just don't know how to distinguish excellent music from the good and bad ones. So, I am going to imitate Bill and do the similar playlist that he did. Then, I will try also playing it along with her other covers but definitely after DYKWYGT. Maybe because I got so used to her songs bringing a highlight at the end like whistle or high fading note, at first, I wish she could have done something different. But after playing it on repeat, I have decided that it is better the way it is. In fact, I believe this could have been a commercial release and a single. How can she keep such precious gem for almost 20 years? But it's here now and again, I am playing it on repeat. Sure you do too.

Out Here snippet (95,599) by Lainsky from Philippines
Goosebumps and excitement were the feelings I got upon hearing the snippet of this song. How much more the entire song. I believe her rendition will sound like this is her song similar to what she did with WY, IBT, OA, and ISB. Hoping that this cover of Irene Cara's original will become Mariah's certified hit this year. For the sake of MC30 oh dear Lord please. It's 18th already here so in a a few hours it will be out here for all us.
