Bill you read my mind. Your wish list matches mine haha. I would love a jazz album and her redoing her earlier work in the arrangements she originally wanted. I’m still waiting for her to release that Beautiful dance recording she sampled on a interview she did for the fans before she broke her arm. It was very David Morales like. Christmas in NY sounded beautiful and should be a full song. A 4th Christmas album would be welcomed by me. Still waiting for Hypnotize and Weakness of the Body from her demo cassette. She has a treasure trove of material that’s begging to be released.

Re: AIWFCIY hitting #1 (91,893) (91,900) by ADAM from USA
I agree we should celebrate the new #1 record. However I disagree that MC will have another #1 record again. Mariah became #1 again because of her 1994 voice and producing team. Those golden years are far far away. I don’t think it’s healthy to have these unrealistic expectations that she will be on top again. We should enjoy her output for what it is - quality music from a quality artist. The industry today is very different and Mariah is just trying to stay afloat.

Thanks for sharing this article. Point well taken. I think we can agree this year was an amazing year for Mariah. She seems energized by the new team she has and all the love she has received from the music industry as of late. All the love and accolades she is witnessing unfortunately many of her peers have died before the public showed their affections. I am grateful Mariah is alive and well to receive all this love. Here's hoping 2020 brings another banner year with the new memoir and album. I don't care if she gets another #1. I'm at the point where anything she puts out I always get and respect the quality she puts into it. She's reserved her right to make the music she loves and not for the charts. Having AIWFCIY go #1 is the capstone to a stellar career. We finally got our wish to have this landmark record see #1.

It’s simple - getting paid is compensation for the legal work you contributed. Verbally omitting facts from historic record is another thing. Never insinuated Mariah is the devil or witch. Just stating IMO she should articulate the history of these records with the names of the men who helped. It’s not shade, just facts.

Giving credit to Tommy and Walter (91,830) by ADAM from USA
I just think Mariah wants history to remember to her as the sole talent behind her music which is understandable. However, in a digital age where everything is recorded, she cannot deny some very important facts. Tommy Mottola - not the record company as she vaguely likes to say - was the one who insisted she record a Christmas album and to keep Hero. Not taking anything away from those masterpieces, those specific decisions were instrumental to her massive success. Walter A is another key producer. Sure Mariah has hits for years on end, but none to the scale of the work MC and Walter made. I really dislike that fans on here, can't listen to the critique for what it is. I love MC as much as everyone else here. That's why we use this site daily. It's a great community. However, I shouldn't have to always preface every statement I make with a mile long page of compliments before I go into critique mode. In closing, I wish Mariah would give these two men the proper credit where it's due. Thank goodness Mariah word of mouth isn't the sole source of history because many lambs would be in a river of denial. My references I speak of are Tommy Motorola's autobiography and Walter A's many interviews throughout the years. Neither of these sources made Mariah out as bad or invalid. In fact, they were complimentary, however facts are facts. The best talents in the world are only that because of the guidance they received along the way. No shade. Just stating facts.

Variety - Walter A (91,815) by ADAM from USA
Loved this interview. Came across heartfelt, articulate, and sincere. While I was expecting mudslinging and bitter grapes, he articulated his time with Mariah as complimentary, and really respects her status in music history. He obliviously wants to remove the tarnish she has put on his name by ignoring his contribution. I feel really bad. I don't enjoy this either. I hope Mariah being elated with the recent success is in a better place emotionally where she has healed. I work love for them to work together. As much as I enjoy Mariah working with new partners, her work with Walter A is undisputed. The both of them are exceptional together. Not taking anything away from her genius, her shorthand with Walter A and his talents and music history is unmatched.

Price Sisters plus Melanie Daniels (91,814) by ADAM from USA
Along with working with Walter A, I would love for Mariah to work with these ladies again. As talented as Mariah's backup singers currently are, they don't hold a candle to the Price sisters plus MD. The soulful, wall of sound they produce on any record is so beautiful especially against Mariah's airy, girly tone. Everytime I listen to Merry Christmas or Anytime You Need a Friend, I'm reminded of their beautiful work together.

MC video in Aspen (90,564) by ADAM from USA
That video was so weird - she’s so child like. I sense that Michael Jackson stunted growth vibe from her. I wonder about how much of an adult she is. She was very nice and talkative with the boys. Seemed genuine. I wish this side of her was what she exhibited. She’s had an amazing talent that is only overshadowed by her ego. Thanks for positing the video link.

Mariah sues personal assistant (87,617) (87,619) by ADAM from USA
Completely agree with you Edward. So many people on this board want to treat MC like an infant when in fact she's a fully formed adult. These were all situations she's participated in and even filmed for her docu-series. Mariah obviously keeps herself in a self imposed bubble - void of any truth - wrapped in plastic. Only she can post in IG clearly doctored phtos of her bikini ready body, days after the world saw her splashed in St Barts wearing that oh so flattering black wetsuit. I really don't get her. It's like she courts the bad publicity on purpose. We know she's 50. We've seen her for almost 30 years. Enjoy your life. Look sexy. Who cares? I wish she'd just stop with the veneers and victimhood attitude. Stella and her team were around as long as they were because Mariah enabled it. Mariah is not a lamb. She's a woman who is mega successful, beautiful, talented, and sometimes insecure.

Re: A lengthy meditation on the album (86,306) (86,319) by ADAM from USA
First off Chris1992, what a beautiful, detailed assessment of Mariah's latest album and overall status. It was very heartfelt and interesting to read.

I felt exactly the way you did probably in 2008. However now, I feel the opposite. I think the Mariah we see and hear now is the one she always was. I think Caution is finally the album she always wanted to create. She's a master lyricist and yes her voice is gone. However, she's learned how to adapt her lower register which is still beautiful to fit the mold of today's climate of music. As much as we all love her golden voice, no one is in more pain over its demise than Mariah herself. I can't imagine the guilt she must feel over her voice. However, I've learned to let it go and enjoy her music for what it is. Everything she does at this point is always a choice. It not a necessity. She will eventually not be here anymore and I want to remember and enjoy her for what she was and is.

I personally love the Caution album. The production is great and seamless. I never skip any song. I think its what Memoirs tried to be. I hope she continues to let Jay Z and Roc Nation guide her. Tommy Mottola was right in his autobiography. I remember a section when he said he always encouraged MC to produce alot of work and stay in the studio and be with the right people because his work as an executive he knew that all artists hit a creative wall and no longer produce their best work so basically strike while the irons hot. Her knew her voice/talent was in its prime and worked overtime to protect that.

I'm so glad Tommy was in her life when he was because if it wasn't for him we wouldn't have her best work, let alone the Christmas album. It's amazing how many points Tommy was behind in her career which made Mariah the superstar she is. Christmas album, Hero, Walter Afansieff, etc.

Caution (86,042) by ADAM from USA
I do want to give props where credit is due. So far I've heard 1/2 the album and I love it. Mariah has heard the criticisms about her voice and sound and has delivered something enjoyable. The production on the album is current and her voice in its lower range on this album is pleasant and beautiful. The criticisms I have with her are when she performs her old material and it's evident her voice is gone. That is what pains me and I'm sure it pains her. However, she is my all-time favorite artist and as such I can say truthfully she delivered a solid product I really like. Everyone ages and has their peak, and I'm glad Mariah has continued to stay relevant, producing music she is proud of and also current with the times. She's at a point where she doesn't have to break any records or prove herself. she's having fun and so am I. I'm so happy she's inspired again. Thank you Mariah.

Re: This message board is sad (84,679) (84,699) by ADAM from USA
I don't find Andrew's comments on this board offensive or out of place. In fact, its largely how I feel as well. I visit this site like most of you regularly because it's a haven for Mariah's last remaining fans to congregate and expressive their opinions about MC. Personally, if this site became a biased one-sided forum where everyone was just praising her, while she continues to churn out lackluster material, I would leave in a heartbeat. I believe you can still love an artist while being critical as well. I wish some of you would re-direct some of your anger from Andrew and place it onto Mariah's output. If she retired and never sang again, I wouldn't fault her because she's not selling you smoke and mirrors. My issue is that if you're going to be an active recording artist and sell music and perform shows, then you need to actually sing. Anything other than that is fraudulent and should be called out. If Andrew didn't care, he wouldn't bother to even post anything. Andrew if you're reading this, pay some of these people dust. I enjoy your messages and look forward to everyone respecting each other's opinion even if you don't always agree.

Re: Just why? (84,649) (84,663) by ADAM from USA
This charade has gone on way too long - she can't sing anymore. It's an open secret that her voice is gone. It's not mean spirited or haters. Only she knows what altered her voice but the fact that she ad libs several notes during a song does make her a "singer". This is pathetic and should be called out. Parading herself on TV and in concert lip syncing is in-authentic and a sham. She needs to address her vocal decay if she is going to continue peddling lies. Otherwise just transition into something else - writer, actress, author, make up guru, etc. What grates my nerves is whenever she is interviewed no one inquires about these kinds of concerns. But knowing how aloof Mariah is, she barres any of the truth getting anywhere close to her. Nick was right. She wants to live in her self imposed bubble. She has enough money and protection she can do that. What matters to her is her millions and her beauty. If only she cared 1/2 as much for her fans and authenticity as much as she cares for her beauty, we'd be set and not disappointed.

With You (84,242) (84,313) by ADAM from USA
I agree with Andrew's sentiment. Disappointing to say the least. I thought after a long time away from recording new music she would have come back inspired to change her sound and work with new producers - With You is a massive fail. I am not excited for this album. This may be my last time I follow her. The realization I've accepted now is that the Mariah I loved in my youth is gone. A different artist that is now gone. Not just the tone of her voice and her ability to belt but the quality of her music and passion that supported it. She has peaked many years ago. What is even sadder is to watch her "sing" her catalog time and time again in Vegas collecting a fat check, while not having her heart in it. The deception is what kills me the most. Every Christmas she milk AIWFC for the millions she's earned and tours all over the world pretending to "sing". She should not charge full price tickets to watch her lip sync when she can't sing anymore. Either sing in real time with your current limited voice or not at all. It's disingenuous take advantage of the same people who supported you when you put out a quality product and use the same people to fund your extravagant lifestyle and you are giving them a hologram. It's difficult to watch someone you loved and admired become someone you do not recognize. She is most concerned about her money and image than she is about her voice or music. I see this trick for what it is now.

Re: JLo (83,457) (83,464) by ADAM from USA
I disagree with your opinion. While I am a fan of both women, I think it's more than disrespectful to dismiss JLo's career and legacy to being a carbon copy of someone else. Mariah is a different talent and legacy that is unique from what JLo's career and legacy represents. Some examples of this would be what Madonna and Cher are to our wider culture. The main point is that everyone has a peak moment when they are hot and everyone ultimately fades into obscurity at some point. I think that Mariah has been less than smart to publicly dismiss JLo the way she has. While Mariah has created gif worthy moments, she in a wider sense only looks insecure and petty. It diminishes her talent and intellect unfortunately. All she has to do is say her talent is legit and separate from what MC does. Two different things. Both legitimate. Funny enough, I think the two would be really good friends if MC was able to be real again. But MC is far from "Riah" the Brenda K Starr days, the girl from Long Island, NYC whatever. She wouldn't know what's real and in touch if it were next to her. Such a shame because Brenda K Starr is still that real NYC girl from back in the day and Mariah pays her dust. I don't know how she "sings" I Still Believe and not make things right with that woman. Can you imagine the woman responsible for your break at stardom and you pay her no dues? Where's the house you promised her? Mariah never goes back to her roots to pay her respect.

Why was Mariah on stage? (78,421) (78,431) by ADAM from USA
Is it terrible I'm just waiting for the second breakdown? Not to be a pessimist, but this era of subpar work ethic and gives zero F's is really past its prime. I want her to wake up and hit rock bottom. She walks around heavily medicated and bloated and doesn't not seem herself for many years. I would love nothing than to root her her. But she seems in Michael Jackson territory where everyone is bleeding her dry.

Mariah - gay icon (76,209) (76,210) by ADAM from USA
Don't get it twisted. Whatever Mariah is peddling to the gay audience whether it's nail polish or makeup, she's pandering for money. Not authenticity. She has been a sell out and hungry for attention for a long time now. This lifestyle she's subscribed to by way of Stella and co is her downfall. She's not making real music and does not deserve a cent from the gay audience. It's disrespectful to me. I wish she would just either put out good music or just be with her family in private. But she loves the limelight too much and clearly doesn't have any friends not on the payroll to tell her the truth.

MTV Unplugged article (76,001) (76,009) by ADAM from USA
That would be incredible. I love her banter and also a live album would be a way to re-introduce herself to her fans again. Meaning she could perform her old material in an acoustic setting and just rant about the process of album making and intimate stories. It's perfectly understandable if she doesn't have anymore creative juices to create new stuff but she could very well strip down all the old stuff. She has said many times she prefers her demos to the final production cuts and also expressed her love of backing vocals. So a live album could give her the venue to re-cut songs with different structures and songs. I don't think she's serious about music like the 90's work ethic but one could always dream right? It's really a shame because she has the most amazing catalogue of music.

Re: Celine doesn't deserve an apology (73,842) (73,864) by ADAM from USA
I completely disagree with you. I think Divas Live is an opportunity to showcase several musicians and have a good time. Doing riffs and runs and exchanging parts while looking glam is all par for the course. I think Mariah's shady comment about Celine competing with Aretha was clearly her own insecurities manifested outwardly. I still hold the same opinion I had back then that Mariah's voice sounded fried and really bad especially compared to any of the other females there. Had her voice been like it was in 93 she would have been the one doing all the magic Celine's voice was doing. I think Mariah was jealous that her instrument is damaged and gives to right to shade Celine or anyone else. Celine is such a geneuine nice person and another great singer. Mariah needs to have several seats.

Facebook Live (72,087) by ADAM from USA
It's so clear Mariah does not care about her image or career so why should we? What's the point of having a live stream with your fans if the questions are going to be filtered and giving non-nonsensical answers. The constant laugh track of her "enablers" behind the scenes was nauseating and crystal clear why she's in her own reality. She surrounds herself most of her professional career with yes people. She was saying anything particularly funny or bright, but the greek chorus always chimes in. I wish she cared more about her fans. I refuse to purchase the new song or watch its tacky video.

Re: I think you're a [censored] (71,605) (71,608) by ADAM from USA
I have very low expectations for the new song. I feel like it will be similar to Infinity the remix. She clearly wants to continue making her vein of songs in the Rap and RnB style similar to Thristy and Triumphant. I'm so over her being a feature on her own songs. I think she does this over and over because she likes the music and also because her voice is in terrible condition so its less noticeable when there's autotune on a hot beat and with a hard thug rap verse attached.
