I've noticed my preorder on UK Amazon won't arrive until 6th October. I wonder if all CD's produced are coming from the USA? I've preordered on iTunes too but thought it was a bit odd not getting the physical copy on the day it's released, they normally send them out early to ensure this.

Wise words Bill. Yes a lot of the time artists blame their record companies for the lack of sales, promotion etc when in truth it's mainly down to the artist themselves and their direction. Mariah was less popular after Butterfly for moving away from core audience. That's not to say her work wasn't good, it just wasn't as popular.

I think we all agree Mariah deserved some acknowledgement that night, due to it being the pinnacle of her career. But there's no point us still being bitter about a 30 year old event and still blaming Tommy, who had nothing to do with how that night unfolded. All it did was make Mariah realise she didn't need him.
Mariah was still supported massively by Sony during the separation and after the divorce. I mean look at the budget the Heartbreaker video had. The videos, the tours, the non-stop global promotion. The issue was Mariah moved away from the adult contemporary audience that she curated during the beginning of her career, so her sales dipped, and she blamed the label (like Michael Jackson did). Rainbow was not Daydream. Invincible was not Thriller.

I'm hanging in there, I am excited, my post was taken out of context. When I said I'm loosing interest it wasn't in the project it was more the drawn out process. Just seems to be taking forever that's all. 12 weeks since TD was released on June 6th. And we still have another 4 weeks to go. I'm just an old school lamb that isn't used to waiting this long for the album from lead single. I'm excited now we have the song titles, but that just wants me to have the album even more quicker.

Please, no complaining. One month until the release and already losing interest? We've been waiting 8 years since Caution for this moment so I think you can wait another month and hope and dream what possibly could be. In the meantime listen to old albums and wait and see what's about to happen, maybe there will be another 8 years before a whole new album or it doesn't happen at all. So let's enjoy and let the lambily and MC build up the excitement. We're Here For It All.

I "really really" hope the album version is just her. It would be like having another new unheard song to listen to on the album. Problem is, when she was releasing the track titles in her story one by one, it clearly said Sugar Sweet featuring Shensea and Kehlani. I suppose we need to wait a month to know but I wouldn't put it past team MC to have messed up and missed them out. I'm hoping they messed up in the stories and not the tracklist post. Billboard is just reporting what they saw posted I think.

I'm sat here thinking it's not even September yet and the album isn't out for another 28 days. It seems to be dragging and definitely seems too far away now. I hoping there is gonna be something in between now and the 26th to keep the momentum going. I'm a Mariah fan and even I'm starting to loose interest in this dragged out process.

The men in Mariah songs (110,748)
by Randy from USA
| |
|

I'm fascinated by so many Mariah references and the songs she wrote them for and I kinda like she plays coy when asked. It's clear that Butterfly (backwardly), Can't Take That Away, Side Effects, Petals (the patriarch) are about Tommy. Clown and Obsessed are about Eminem. My All, The Roof and Honey are about Derek. The Impossible, Cry, The Art of Letting Go and Faded are about Nick. I Don't is about James Packer. GTFO is about Stella. That sums up the men. I wonder who is the boy and girl in Petals (they're bonded thru despondency) and is the knife chipping away at her is Walter A? I still believe he was at that table and said nothing and that's the falling out. Finally, I am 90% sure that Thirsty is about Damizza and not about Nick. And I Wish You Well, Alison, Brenda K Starr? What are ya'll thoughts?

Sugar Sweet (110,483)
by Jamie from UK

Yes I feel the same, Mariah should have been more vocal on this track, there was no need for two other artists, one would have been enough at the end. I really don't get the lack of promotion behind SW though, it's like they went here you go and just disappeared, no video, no remixes, it doesn't make sense for a release. Was it gonna be number one, no. But at least try and back up what you're releasing, especially while she has done so many interviews recently, the roll out has been great apart from SW, it's really bizarre.

Two problems with "Sugar sweet". It should have been a solo or just have been with Shenseea or with Ariana. Second no video. "Sugar sweet" had the potential to be better had Mariah gotten another verse in the song. I really thought hearing the snippet that it was gonna be another "Touch my body" lol. I was wrong. At this point all we can hope for is a good album.

Here For It All (110,464)
by Jamie from UK

I would love Mariah to forget the glam, the diva pretense, the hair, the make up etc and take herself off to a yoga style retreat for a month where she can reconnect with herself again, focus on what's important and be one present with herself again. I suspect she's past that now tbh but I think it would be good for her to be spiritual for a while, eat healthy food, no booze. Then gradually reduce the meds and get back to being her best.

I'm actually surprised at the reaction here - this was the same belt that was played during the album cover reveal where I reacted she sounded metallic or chipmunk like. This is definitely the best take she could deliver and even that belt I suspect is piece together or engineered to sound connected. Mariah is a studio singer and if this is what we are hearing as final then imagine how long it took since it's been many years since she released a studio effort. She's had the entire pandemic plus to rest or train her voice. I think she's an alcoholic and perhaps her addiction has ruined her voice beyond repair. Its really tough to watch or listen to her interviews, she is heavily sedated and has memory/recall issue because she can't remember in detail past events or people. The Alan Carr podcast interview was very telling. He was so happy and easy to chat with and Mariah came across like she just met the guy. Thoughts?

Mariah's reaction to Katy Perry skyrockets (110,420)
by Jamie from UK
| |

It's probably because she can't make eye contact with people properly because of anxiety etc. If she needs the medication fair enough but personally it's not working for her in my eyes. I too have bipolar 2 and less medication is better otherwise you become numb. I've recently 10 months ago reduced my antidepressant by half. Initially I got symptoms and withdrawal symptoms but it's passed and now wonder why I was ever on that other dose which wasn't even that high either.

Unfortunately this is Mariah now, over medicated and numb. How can she expect her songs to have any energy when she's like this. When they showed the old interview with Jamie Theakston, it showed a complete contrast in her. There she was lively, interactive and engaged. Now it's like her batteries are half full at most, she's disengaged, slowed down and flat. Yes she has some fun moments but the energy is low and doesn't let herself go or relax like she once did.

You described it perfectly how a "normal" watcher feels about the interviews. I read how fans called it Mariah with a chill-mode, but for me it feels a little too chill. I hope for the next time there will be more "reaction" (more lively), it almost made me tired while watching.

For whatever reason, this is the one that every media outlet picked up and it's going insanely viral right now. It's interesting to see how the general public perceives Mariah. The comments range from: "Is she high?" "Is she drunk?" "Sedated Mariah is forever a mood," to "She sounds like she's had a few."
What's crazy is, I actually thought her recent interviews were decent, definitely better than the ones in Australia. But to the average viewer who isn't a lamb, there's no mercy; they'll just call it like they see it. I really hope she eases up on the meds. While she's not totally disoriented, it's obvious to the casual observer that something feels off.

Her performance of Close My Eyes on Rosie is one of my all-time favorite songs sung live. So raw. So vulnerable. I marvel at Mariah's ability to take emotions you can't put the right words too, and she puts words to them in a nice neat package. Looking In is one such song for me personally. That song describes my life.

Yeah I think they thought that Sugar Sweet would have been bigger than it was. It's a catchy song but doesn't keep you hooked. The video should have been out by now too, the Type Dangerous roll out was great but Sugar Sweet has been a bit lazy tbh. The album release date is too far away now. If I was them I'd get another track out or just bring the album release forward.

This sounds very promising. I really want to hear these ballads she's mentioned, and I also want to hear more of the stuff she wrote with Anderson. Mariah needs to put something out to rebuild the momentum for the album. "Type Dangerous" built things up a bit, but "Sugar Sweet" has already faded away. Maybe they should've made the album release date sooner than September?

No, Mariah will never quit the diva act, no, the Karadashians have not made her unsure about her age, no, a different roll out would not have made the last two single successful, no, I said a no no, like it Frenche, no, in Spanish, no. People here on this board are completely bashing Mariah and make up outrageous reasons for what no.
You are criticizing Mariah while you are all living in a Mariah fan forum creating a whole universe of excuses of why her voice is lost, her eyes are dead, who should have collaborated, how Mariah should have taken care of her voice, what affect people surrounding Mariah has, the list can go on and on.
Just imagine being Mariah living in this celebrity world and what micro cosmos that will lead to. But here we are, bashing Mariah for being out of touch, too into herself and her yes people, but we are still making a universe ourselves that really doesn't exist outside the MCArchives?
Hello? If this board can get so delusional, imagine being Mariah the last 35 years.

Sugar Sweet video clip (110,261)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|

I noticed that as well. She looks a lot heavier in person. If you compare the Sugar Sweet video clip to the London photos from yesterday, you can tell the Sugar Sweet video clip is heavily edited. Why can't MC stop the diva antics and her desire to stay young? I think The Kardashians have had a negative influence on MC trying to stay young looking in the public's eye. People are not amused with her diva antics especially pop radio program diectors. These diva antics have negatively influenced the public's perception of her. Also, it is not helping that she can't sing like she used to. I have always wondered why the public loves Sza's music despite of her heavily autotuned vocals. I think it is because her lyrics are relatable and she doesn't act like a diva. This is what MC is missing in the public's eye. I believe MC acts like a diva because she is desperately trying to conceal the effects of being bipolar and the lost of her once beautiful voice.

I think it's a combination of that and being heavily medicated. Problem with Mariah now is she's living in a dreamlike state and has totally lost touch with reality. Whatever medication she is on is not working for her, unless there is more going on ie some cognitive disorder.
The cute diva thing isn't working for her now either, all this "I don't acknowledge time" rubbish needs to stop, she needs to grow up, have a laugh yes but get back to being herself and not an act. Whether that's possible now I don't know, she seems completely lost in herself.

Do you think her expressionless blank stares in this video and many others are the result of too much botox and filler? I completely agree. That's why I hope on the new album are some lyrics with deeper meanings. I have nothing against some fun songs/lyrics but not the complete album. We all know her voice has changed but what I don't understand is, when she was so young she wrote like a grown-up person. Now she's a grown-up and the lyrics are so girly. Normally it's the opposite. Is it all to be trendy and to get to charts again? Wouldn't lyrics that are less girly not work better? Just a question, please don't get it wrong. Something funny, I didn't know what Fendi is. Lol, a luxury brand, now I know. I watched a docu about Gucci yesterday, there they were also talking about the other brands.

Jamie, I don't think that's a clip for the official video. It's another home video clip for TikTok/promotion like she did for TD as well. She looks good, yes the editing is off. What Virgin Records could have been for MC (110,237)

I was thinking today and wondering what MC's career with Virgin Records would have been like if they didn't buy out her 80 million dollars contract. The Virgin executives surely didn't support an established artist who had sold millions during the first ten years of her career. Just because her first album for the label didn't live up to their expectations, they decided to cut their losses and buy out her contract for 28 million dollars. Glitter was a soundtrack and not a regular album. They could have given her some grace and allowed MC to record a non soundtrack album. I am just thinking today about the "what if" with Virgin Records after 24 years. Virgin Records has other instances when they did support their artists when they were in a crisis or underperforming like Boy George, Janet Jackson, D'Angelo, and Aalyiah's family.
