About Dove from USA: "Just sing from your heart the entire time and your notes will continue to shine regardless of the dirt that gets splattered around you." - Mariah Carey

Infinity video / National Inquirer (54,127) by Dove from USA
I liked it. It didn't blow my mind but she looked beautiful and the white sparkly gown gave me life. I agree with the people who said the scene in the closet (when she's rapping) was a little awkward. It wasn't everything I had hoped for but I still really love it. Hopefully the next video will have a more developed storyline. The National Enquirer prints stories such as "Hillary Clinton Adopts Alien Baby". Everyone knows it's not a reputable news source.

Damizza's book (53,926) by Dove from USA
Oh my goodness. I'm at the part where Eminem wants Mariah to read for the part of his mom in 8 Mile, just to mess with her mind and trigger her insecurity. It makes me want to cry and gives me goosebumps that Thomas Motolla can be so evil. I will pray for your soul TM. MC, I pray for your protection always. Psalm 91.

#1's (53,912) by Dove from USA
Mariah getting more #1's is not the most important thing to me as a fan but I don't like how she and L.A. Reid are making statements to the universe about how she won't be getting any more and nobody can beat The Beatles. That's like dropping out of college a semester before earning your PhD because it's too hard. They should at least aim for it and try. I won't stop being a fan if she never has a hit again but she only needs three more. I love The Beatles but Mariah deserves the most #1's record. Why can't anyone beat The Beatles? Is there a conspiracy? Am I missing something? Mariah still makes good music and she is still marketable. If there is some conspiracy, someone just needs to make TPTB see that it would benefit them to make Mariah cool again because they could make a lot of money from her back catalog and merchandise. They have to market her as an icon like Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, and The Beatles to where even the kids want an MC Lunchbox. If JLo can have a recording career, and a dork like TS can be popular, anything is possible.

Heavenly (53,904) by Dove from USA
I just watched the BMA's performance again and I just wanted to say that I love the whole look of it. I like how everything is white. Her sparkly silver dress makes her look like an angel in heaven. If they would have used the fog machine (I dont know what it's called) that Meaghan Trainer and John Legend used it would have looked even more heavenly.

JD (53,884) by Dove from USA
Luke (53,882) I see your point. I wouldn't want my friends making those types of comments about me and I didn't think about how it would make her look to the world. I guess I judge things by how they make me feel and I didn't feel like those comments were coming from a shady place.

AI / JD (53,874) by Dove from USA
I don't have a problem with her American Idol comments. At first I thought she shouldn't have burned that bridge (with people who work on that show) but that's just me, I don't like to make waves. If she can take the heat then she should go ahead and be honest, it's way more interesting. At least now people know she hated being there and she isn't that way normally. I stopped watching AI after Paula left but tried to watch again for Mariah. I had to stop because the tension was so uncomfortable between MC and NM. I didn't find anything wrong with JD's comments, either. They're practically family, don't your family and close-friends call you out on your tomfoolery? Mine do and I'm glad they do. I know she's had good reasons (marriage, kids, divorce, lack of label support, injury) but everyone can see that MC's career has not been as "perfect" as we're used to; although, things have improved exponentially since last year. Of course I'm thankful that Mariah is still choosing to create and perform for us. I was relieved to hear JD say that she hasn't been giving 100% to her career because now we know that things can get better. Or maybe not. Maybe now that she's a mom she can't do things the way she used to. Which when I think about it, I'm fine with. Even though I want more: videos, interviews, performances, appearances, awards, #1's, etc. what matters most is the music. As long as she continues releasing good music I'll be good.

My top 3 favorite #1's (53,637) by Dove from USA
Fantasy - She's living in the video. Doing fun stuff we should all do while we're still young enough to do it. After Dreamlover, Hero, and AYNAF I didn't think she could come out with anything better but then she blew us all away with Fantasy. It's such a happy, feel-good song. I love it.
One Sweet Day - This one reminds me of my ex. I thought we would always be together and I took him for granted and now he's gone. Then the other part reminds me of how I feel about God. "Knowing and feeling you're hearing me, it keeps me alive", "I know you're shining down on me from heaven", "and I know eventually we'll be together." 2014 was a dark year for me and my husband leaving me was like an eclipse that wouldn't let the light get to me. I had to remind myself the light was still there.
Vision Of Love - It gives me life. The lyrics and her voice move me, especially when I think about it being how she felt when she finally became a recording artist. She had a vision for her life, and even though she was going through her own struggles, she believed it would happen for her and it did. It inspires me to stay strong and always believe in my dreams and in myself. My favorite lines are, "And now I know I've succeeded, in finding the place I'd conceived" and "I realized the dream, and I visualized the love that came to be, feel so alive, I'm so thankful that I've received the answer that heaven has sent down to me." The universe moved Heaven and Earth to make it happen for her.

"If most of the major media outlets said that she did good enough, why should we care what some little radio show thinks?" Just to be clear: I don't agree with their assessment and MC is great enough for me. The reason I mentioned it was because I think this is what the GP thinks and if we want MC to sell, the public perception about her needs to change. Blogs and comment sections on the internet have said the same things. I posted what's being said in my neck of the woods in case MC's marketing team reads this site so that they can work on it if they feel the need. What the GP thinks about a brand is important when you're trying to sell something. Sometimes people agree with what others are saying because they're too tired mentally to think for themselves. Look at what happened with Michael Jackson. Negative public image translated to a decline in sales when he wasn't "cool" anymore. (Okay back to work. Last post of the day for real.)

Bill / TGIFY (53,601) by Dove from USA
Thank God I Found You: I worked with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis who are incredible producers and I was honored to work with them. We collaborated in a way that was not one of your typical collaborations. The songs and the interludes from this album are some of my best work. This was a collaboration of my voice mixed with Joe, one of my favorite R&B singers ever and the boys from 98 degrees. I am very grateful for the success of this song. Thank you Bill, I would love to know what she wrote about the songs that weren't included in the US release.

More thoughts (sorry, last post today) (53,588) by Dove from USA
I forgot to add that when the radio host made those comments I switched to a different channel and they were talking about MC too. They were a little bit kinder but still negative. It's a man and a woman. The man said, "It's so sad. What a gift she had." And the woman said, "I think she is a troubled woman and she has always been a troubled woman." She said more but I don't remember. Then they brought up the article that said Mariah was stuck in a cage of her own making. Then the man repeated that it was truly sad that she lost her voice because MC had one of the best voices of the past 30 years. Oh and they also mentioned from the article (NYT I think) that the reviewer said she would prepare to go for the high note and then not (in Vegas). The male radio host said, "That's what it sounds like is happening here (BMA sound bite)."

A story (53,586) by Dove from USA
I think being kind to people and maintaining good relationships is so important. The day after the BMA's I was listening to my regular morning show on the radio and they were talking about the BMA's. It's two woman and two men. They played a clip of MC's performance and one of the men said, "She recovered in the end." But one of the women said, "No, she shouldn't do that anymore (the high note at the end)." When Infinity came out, they were talking about it and the same woman said, "I can't understand anything she's saying." And started talking about something that happened the night before. I can tell by the way the one female host talks about MC that she doesn't like her. I'm thinking either MC or someone in her camp was rude to her or she's believing the tabloid stories. They love JL though. JL has called in to the show and she's always super nice and open when asked questions. This reminds me of something that happened with two Drs I know. A woman filed a malpractice suit against Dr A. Dr A is brilliant, he is one of the smartest people I've ever encountered, but he doesn't have great people skills. He's autistic. It turns out it wasn't his fault and when the woman found out it was Dr B's fault, she dropped the suit. Dr B has amazing people skills, he looks people in the eye and makes them feel amazing. People will forgive a lot if they like you. MC should call the big radio stations to give 15 minute interviews. And be nice and open. Just answer the questions.

Re: Someday and I Don't Wanna Cry (53,578) by MC1989 from Spain (53,584) by Dove from USA
Someday: This was one of my favorite songs when I was writing it for my demo. I remember being a kid and listening to it over and over on the subway after studio sessions. I wish I could press rewind and delete some moments from the video and some of the overproduction on the debut album. That's why I included the version from MTV Unplugged on this album.
I Don't Want to Cry: This song was my first collaboration with Narada Michael Walden. The label was very excited for me to work with him because of his collaborations with hugely successful vocalists. We wrote I Don't Want to Cry together and it was very important for me to keep my identity as a songwriter. I was very grateful to him for the work we did together.

Fantasy (53,563) by Dove from USA
My preorder is taking its sweet time getting here, so I went to Target to get a physical copy and it sounds like they added the "sweet sweet fantasy baby" to the ODB version. Or has it always been there, I don't remember? I still believe Mariah can get another #1. I believe she can get six more #1's, anything is possible when you believe. But I'm content with new music and Vegas. I went the first day and it was amazing. Way better than the YouTube clips. It was awesome being surrounded by other lambs.

Rant (53,558) by Dove from USA
I wasn't going to say anything, but I'm here so I might as well throw in my two cents. My heart fell to my stomach when the camera went to the nameless one and TS and they were sitting there looking bored and clapping half-halfheartedly while most people around them were standing up. Mariah Carey is a legend and even if they didn't like the song or performance they could have stood to recognize 25 years of hard work and achievement. Mariah Carey stood for the nameless one on American Idol. Even though TNO sounded like a dying goat. Shaking your butt doesn't warrant a standing ovation, we can get that at a strip club. The other one really disappointed me because I thought she was better than that. She didn't have to get crazy but at least clap half-halfheartedly while standing. I'm sure if MC had done better commercially the past few years they would have stood up. The main reason I liked TS is because I thought she was genuine and nice and happy for other people's success. I gave TNO the benefit of the doubt because I used to think she was sweet too. MC hasn't even said anything about TNO since, I want to say the CB album. Considering everything that happened, TNO is lucky MC didn't say more back then. Of course MC was angry, who wouldn't be? Well, Napoleon Dynamite was really huge and trendy for a while but then people became tired of him. The TS train will end too, even with marketing savvy parents, because she's no Michael Jackson or MC. And she believes her own hype.

Genres and concept albums (53,540) by Dove from USA
Mariah Carey has already established longevity, and herself as an artist. She is not going to be pigeon-holed if she makes a standards album. I love all of her music but I really crave to hear her do something completely different and a standards album would break up the monotony. I’m not saying every album she makes from now until the end of time needs to be full of classics but one album would be nice. It doesn't even need to have a huge promo-push; she can release it on a holiday, such as Valentine’s Day, and say it’s just to tide the fans over until the next release. She should have done this between E=MC2 and Memoirs when she was having a creative slump but now is a good time too. I would like to hear Mariah singing a lot of different types of genres and making concept albums: standards, dance, jazz, rock, covers, etc. I think it would be like salted caramel in that it would enrich the type of music she already loves to make. Of course the crown jewels in the future would be the masterpieces she creates herself, such as MIAM. Mariah Carey is up there with The Beatles, Marilyn Monroe, and Elvis in status and legacy. In the future, when we’re all old or dead, people are going to wish she would have explored different niches.

I completely agree with you. I would also love to hear the American song book in Mariah's voice. Those are classic, quality songs that have stood the test of time.

"When I say that I'm okay, well, they look at me kinda strange" (52,747) by Dove from USA
Most people are afraid to show their uniqueness. They try to be popular or likable, to fit in with everyone else. It's a fact that it is impossible to have everyone like you, there are always people who will find a flaw in you or something to comment about. It's better to embrace yourself than pretend to be someone you aren't to please others. MC, just do you. On a side-note: I also need to take a break.

LC / Jon / Xavier (52,719) by Dove from USA
LC, I voted for your essay. Good luck. Jon, I loved the identification topic you posted the other day. I wanted to respond to it but I couldn't think of anything. But you're right, I do identify with her child-like outlook and festive spirit. I know it gets on some people's nerves but I don't care. It makes me happy and I'll always be this way. I'm going to be like Cyndi Lauper in this video (at 2:16) when I'm an old lady. She has no concept of how old she is. I hope MC stays true to herself and does what makes her happy. Xavier, thanks. I rarely post pictures of myself on public forums. I don't photograph well. Think Chanandler Bong's engagement pictures.

That woman child (52,684) by Dove from USA
I love Infinity but I can be objective and see why others wouldn't. People who say it sounds "girly" and "Disney" are right. It does. But that's how I am too. Maybe that's part of the reason why I like it. When I hear Infinity, it makes me think of the movie Enchanted. That's also how I see my life. I am 32 but I feel younger. People always say that about me when they meet me, too. They think I'm 22 and right out of college. I think it has to do with my child-like aura. I'm not saying it's a good thing but it is what it is. I feel like I didn't have a childhood, so when I was old enough to choose my own path I chose Disney. I still watch cartoons, I don't watch scary movies because they scare me, I like to draw and paint, I collect Barbie's, I wear bright pink a lot, I love glittery things, pretty shoes, I cover my eyes and mute it during the sex scenes in OITNB because I'm sensitive to the graphics but I like the storyline, on Christmas I wear the most over-the-top sparkly gowns to visit the kids at the hospital as a magical princess. (I don't wear make up every day so they don't even know it's me.) I also love to dress up on Holidays and I've even been Santa when no one else wanted to. When she does those festive things people call corny, I relate to it. It doesn't mean that I'm not an adult or that I'm dumb. I have several degrees. I know that a person doesn't necessarily need to be a genius to get a degree but you have to be "smart enough" and competent. I've always worked with kids, first as a babysitter, then at CPS, and now at the hospital. Maybe that has something to do with my child-like aura too. My point is, I think that, like me and many others, Mariah sees her life as a Disney movie. When you find humor and magic in painful situations, it makes life bearable.

Catching up on interviews (52,575) by Dove from USA
I'm catching up on the interviews from her arrival in Vegas and I love what she's projecting. She's so cute. The see-through sparkly gown is so Mariah and it looks great on her. She seems like the same fun and easy-going Mariah from before.
