Follow up to my last post (52,516)

In my last post I said the production was a little rough and the music sounded like it was drowning out her voice. I think it was sounding that way because I was playing it on a cheap Bluetooth speaker in my kitchen. It sounded way better in my car, on my son's good headphones, and at my friend's house. My friend has a better sound system than me. I asked her if she liked the song and she said it was hilarious. She said she loved that Mariah owned being a diva. Apparently, not everyone hates the diva act, some people like it. I regret my last post and wish I hadn't posted it. I truly love the song and believe it can be huge. I think I just didn't like being called a brown-noser so I was looking for flaws to prove I wasn't one. One can find flaws in anything if we look for them. Oh and I decided I do like the Russian duh/da. She could have Bianca sing that part in the video.

Criticism (52,473)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
Okay so I listened to it all day yesterday and I do have some criticism now. Maybe I'm just nitpicking. There are certain lines I wish she would have enunciated and phrased more clearly. Such as: "Wouldn't have none of that without me tho." "If life was a game, you're a free throw." "Truthfully I'm through with this, why are we still doing this?" The part where she says, "Ain't no compliments, ain't no being friends, etc." She says "duh" after each line, but it sounds like she's saying da, like yes in Russian. I don't know how I feel about it. You guys are right, the production is rough. The music drowns out her voice and there are parts where the stitching together is painfully obvious. What is going on? The songs with JD on her last album were so good. I still bought the single and gifted it to friends and family to support her. But I'm worried. Hopefully the remixes will be smoother. RJJ12, it costs a dollar and it's not like she's dropping singles ever day. I stand by my opinion.

Abraham, I love you. You're the greatest and my favorite lamb (eternal). I hope this year is a really good one for you and that all your wildest dreams come true. When you make a wish on your birthday candles, dream big.

Still hopeful (52,424)
by Dove from USA
| |

Why are we so afraid to aim for #1? TMB made it to number one and Infinity is better than TMB. Think about most of the songs that make it to #1. All About That Bass was #1 recently. Blank Space was #1. Infinity is as good or better than those songs. Even if Infinity is not your favorite, please still buy the single to support Mariah.

I doubt this song would upset him. It's free promo and he loves attention. It's like when Gwen Stefani wrote those songs about the bass player from No Doubt. MC is not really saying anything terrible about him that he hasn't already said about himself in his comedy.

Infinity (52,376)
by Dove from USA
| |
|

I love the part where she sings "to infinity" because it's full of hope. Sometimes at the end of a relationship, we think our life is over, but in reality it's a new beginning full of infinite possibilities. After the grief there's nowhere else to go but up. To infinity. This is so much better than I could have ever hoped.

Thoughts on Infinity (52,372)
by Dove from USA

|
|
I do try to find the silver lining, even when things look bleak, but this song is actually amazing. I didn't like TMB or YM(E) for a single. I don't like everything MC does. I absolutely love this song. It speaks to people who are heartbroken and can't get out of it. It's empowering and telling these people to get the f*ck up and take their power back. A lot of times we give our partner all this power over us and usually we're the one-up anyway. They act like they're the one doing us the favor by being with us. We try to be friendly and give second chances but we shouldn't. Close the door, bolt it, turn around, and don't look back. I love the authority in her tone and the tiny violin at the end. So many people stuck in heartbreak will relate to this. I feel empowered already. I can feel it in my being, this song is going to be huge. If you can't spend $1.29 to support your favorite artist, even if you don't love the song, you're no fan. And the lyrics are funny. We need to stop being funny when we get older now?

And I love it. I'll write more tomorrow because I'm barely keeping my eyes open but it's everything I was hoping for. It reminds me of WBT, but empowering. It's like they described, throwback but current at the same time. I'll probably have more to add tomorrow but it's a thumbs up from me for now.

Don't Play That Song and random thoughts (52,257)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
I've been playing DPTS on repeat all morning. (Thanks for the DL Edward.) I still have The First Vision on VHS but I don't have a VCR and YouTube quality is hit or miss. Did you guys watch the first season of American Idol? Kelly Clarkson was a huge lamb, but she wasn't allowed to sing Mariah songs, so she would cover songs that Mariah had covered. When she sang DPTS, I remember thinking, "I know this one." Kelly is my second favorite vocalist after MC. The other day Mariah wished Kelly a happy birthday on Twitter. I was super excited but then super disappointed KC didn't fangirl more. She didn't even retweet it. I want them to sing together so much. Back to DPTS, I wonder if MC had TM in mind when she was singing that song. Usually we like songs that fit our current situation. MC has said that she and TM had a good relationship up until they got married. I believe she did love him in the beginning. I like listening to Now That I Know because it makes me think that there were at least some happy moments with TM.

I have also noticed that WW has been relatively nicer towards MC. I'm glad because, at least in the clips I've seen, WW's viewers hang on to every word she says as though she's Jesus. The people in the audience are like zombies, nodding and agreeing with everything she says. On a side note: can we please not call her Wendell? Darkness cannot drive out darkness.

Discussing the divorce (52,118)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
I'm kind of tired of hearing about Nick all the time. I hope she does address it, but just makes it boring so that people won't be intrigued to know more. She can say something like "It was great while it lasted, and we're friends now, but some relationships aren't meant to last forever." Or something boring like that. Like the Gweneth Paltrow and Chris Martin thing. She can include the "Did he cheat?" question on the Do Not Ask list. Personally I don't care if she completely ignores the whole divorce topic, but some people probably want the scoop, and I think in that case it's better to be boring and polite. On a side note: I love the pictures that have been used for Mariah articles lately. I love how she looks in the black dress she wore on Kelly and Michael to promote Almost Home.

Lipsynching comment in my last post (52,082)

I tried to make it better but I think I made it worse. I just cringed when I read it. It's not terrible, I don't know why I said that. The slow motion is just not my favorite.

My guess for the theme of Infinity (52,075)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
What came to my mind was The Fault In Our Stars. The part where she's talking at his practice funeral. The gist was that even though their love story wasn't as long as other people's, it was still worth it. Something about how some infinities are bigger than other infinities but they're still infinities. Even though the relationship is over, it happened and that moment will live forever.

Real Mariah / Baby (52,073)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
That's funny, I was wondering the same thing a few days ago and the first people who came to mind who may be Mariah incognito were Baby and Nilah. But then I tried to put myself in the place of a celebrity and I think I would pretend to be a guy from Manila or something. Or not post at all and just lurk. Baby, yesterday or the day before I was thinking about you and I felt badly about the time you were defending MC's lipsynching and I snapped at you that her lipsynching in videos sucked. It's actually not that bad, I think I was just in a negative mood that day. It's only truly terrible in the videos where they slow the footage way down. So, I'm sorry for being rude.
