About Otti from Belgium: I love bodybuilding and Mariah Carey!

E=MC2 (50,699) by Otti from Belgium
"E=MC2" is one of my favorite albums of MC together with "Butterfly". I love every song on it. Starting with "Migrate", "Touch my body", "For the record", "Bye bye", and ofcourse "Cruise control" and the haunting "Side effects". This was Mariah working with current producers, and shows how easily she can blend with other hot producers and songwriters. And she should go back to that formula. I remember when this album came out, the same time I had my first car. I used to listen to this album from beginning until the end in my car. Without skipping. "E=MC2" had a spring-summer feeling like "Butterfly". I think she and her label didn't take advanced of the songs on the album. There were a lot of potential hits.

Mariah Carey (50,572) by Otti from Belgium
When I was still at school, it was cooler to be a fan of Mariah than being a fan of Celine Dion. Mariah at that time had hits like "Fantasy", "ABMB", "Honey" and "The roof". And there is the big difference. Mariah went where no one of her "generation" went. She was pop and hip hop at the same time. Her videos where more sexy, her biracial looks made her unique. I remember that I always thought that Mariah was "white" and at the same time confused. I"m talking "Music box" and "Daydream" era. Until she "spoke" Spanish in "Honey". Mariah is the only artist who has been copied by many artists: Leona, Christina, Beyonce, Ariana, J.Lo, Jessica Simpson, even Celine Dion (I remember a picture of her, I think "Let's talk about love" album). See Google.

I thought I told you that we won't stop (50,545) by Otti from Belgium
I always have respect for Celine Dion and Whitney Houston (RIP). Although I'm a bigger fan of Mariah Carey. My favorites songs from Celine are "Think twice" and "Because you loved me". And "I wanna dance with somebody", "Didn't we almost have it all" and "Where do broken hearts go" by Whitney Houston. I'm a fan of Mariah since the "Butterfly" album. Back then, I always loved how Mariah connected with her fans through her songs. When you hear songs like "Hero", "Anytime you need a friend" or "Butterfly" you know it's Mariah, personal. And that makes her a different artist. She is this singer with a big voice. But she is sexy, a true talent, songwriter, producer, her creativity is beyond, listen to her remixes ("Always be my baby", "My all stay awhile", "Heartbreaker").

Icon (50,516) by Otti from Belgium
I love how Mariah use personal things from her life in her video clips. Like she did in "We belong together" with her own wedding dress. Or in "#Beautiful" the car of her dad. Or "Through the rain" the story of her parents and the sunflowers, because her father loves sunflowers. Or "I still believe" her admiration for Marilyn Monroe.

My all (50,394) by Otti from Belgium
It's one of my favorites too. For me her videos from that time were her best, starting with "Honey", "Butterfly", "The roof", "Breakdown". Just when you think she's was done, she came with "My all" and I remember so well when I saw the video for the first time. I had the album "Butterfly" already, but didn't pay to much attention to the song until the video came out on MTV. The video brings the song alive. Herb did a great job with MC lying on the overturned boat referring to the line "I'd risk my life". I Always loved the black and white theme on the video. One note: the album "Butterfly" was released in september 1997 and "My all" went number one in late April or May 1998. I always thought that with a good video and promo that she could bring more live to "MIAMTEC" even a half year after it's release. Like she did with "My all".

Booty (50,335) by Otti from Belgium
What you all talking about? Mariah did it before "the booty" thing. She did it in "Honey", "Heartbreaker", "Touch my body" in a sexy way, not vulgar like we see these days. Music videos remind me now of adult movies. And Mariah doesn't need surgery on her "booty". She has already her curves. She is not Taylor Swift.

Number one (50,043) by Otti from Belgium
I think it's easier now to score a number one, than back in the 90's, especially for young new artist, look at Katy and Gaga. They jump on the hype, work with hot producers, they want it so badly. There were Mariah was. Always in charge in the studio when she works with new producers, like on songs Honey, [...] and Obsessed. I still don't get why Mariah is left out on the Grammy's so many times. Even Jay Z said [...] to Mariah that he thought that she's got more Grammy's than he saw in her showcase. I don't even get the nominees for [...] latest album. All the singles she released from that album were like really weak. For me this is the year that the Grammy's has no value any more. One positive note: I'm happy for the award for Toni Braxton and Babyface for [...] duet album.

Grammy's (49,980) by Otti from Belgium
One thing I know, B is overrated by the Grammy's. How can a song like "Drunk in love" win a Grammy? She's even not singing but talking in that song. Panting through stupid lyrics. They give Beyonce all the awards just to be politically correct. You know, she is this black female singer. Mariah sings her lungs out, and get no any recognition. They give Grammy's to autotune singers. I don't get it. Ironically B was a look-a-like of Mariah at the Grammy's.

The voice (49,924) by Otti from Belgium
I think the [...] between Mariah and other pop singers is, that Mariah never has been a hype. If you go back to her early performances and take a look at the audiences at her concerts, most of them are adults, when she was only in her twenties. And Baby from Sweden got it right, why are concerts of Madonna, Britney or Katy always a perfect show? The answer is their concerts are from the beginning until the end fake, every song is lypsync, always the dancers, vulgarity on stage, and other things to distract the attention from real singing. Mariah, on the other hand, is just singing the whole show. She can't hide behind sexy dancers or big stage productions. When she is caught lipsync at her concert is because she wants it to. Like this part is real, this part is not. It's just her, no script. She is always honest about her voice, I remember when she did promo for E=MC2, she said 'I'm thankful, when I recorded this album my voice was in a good shape." The "We belong together" performance in Jamaica, I don't know, it's like she went back stage, but wax still singing. And not like some people are saying, that the pre recorded track kept playing. What do you think lambs?

Nathan (49,836) by Otti from Belgium
Today I saw on E. a little interview with Kevin Costner about the sudden death of the late Withney Houston, and he said things like, I was her bodyguard in the movie, I hold her hand, I had acces to her, and he continued to say that after The Bodyguard, he followed her traject on a distance. But he did not reach out to help her. What brings us to Nathan of Boyz II Men. I think he wants to help Mariah. He chooses this way, because I guess they are not in touch. Being a celeberty is not easy. They trust no one, have no inner peace, takes drugs, insecurities. I am sure if he had contact with her, he would not go in public. In the end, I think there's nothing wrong with his message on Facebook, although not worser than Mariah's latest performances. You can't compare Nathan with what Kelly Price said about MC.

I love Mariah (49,803) by Otti from Belgium
Mariah Carey is more than just a singer. She is this artist, who writes her own songs, likes to sing backing vocals on her own songs, she loves hip hop, she is biracial. Her albums are personal, like a dairy. I remember when Rainbow came out, I was thinking, how every album since Emotions has a one word title. Music Box, Daydream, Butterfly, Rainbow, even Glitter, Charmbracelet. Every title is so girly and at the same time meaningful. Butterfly is like freedom, Rainbow is like about tolerance but also about "after every storm there's a rainbow". Daydream about escaping from daily life. All these reasons makes us fans or lambs. Mariah is not Whitney (rip), Celine. If Mariah stands there singing a little song, she stands there so vulnerable, like she is saying come and safe me. Like a member of Westlife said, when he saw Mariah's clip of Without You.

It's not the end (49,775) by Otti from Belgium
Some fans are really overreacting. Saying things like Mariah is living a lie. This Mariah has recorded at least 13 studio albums in a time span of 25 years. She did many incredible performance over the years. And still people don't get it, she is human, she has ups and downs. We all know if she is in a good place, then she is on point with everything. Look when she released the single #Beautiful, the video was great, the song was great, she did her promo work. But once the stress kicks in, she lost it. We need to be thankful for what she already gave us as fans. I'll always remember, even though she sings lives, people are doubting it. No it's not live, I hear a back track blabla. Even singers with a average voice lipsync.

Come back baby please (49,710) by Otti from Belgium
I didn't know she came back after she left the stage. I thought she went backstage, but still finishing singing, because there was something with her, I don't know. I think it was funny when she came back on stage, and start skipping around. That's Mariah, she is funny in the end.

The problem is (49,699) by Otti from Belgium
The problem with Mariah is not her singing, not her hair, not her wardrobe. There is something going on with her personal. And that is the divorce issue. She acts really weird lately. Or there's something with her health. We don't know. And we don't know when she signed for this Jazz festival in Jamaica. Even she's not feeling well emotional, she needs to show up. Because she signed this contract. We all know that artists take "medication" to get through something. We need to support her, once she gets through this madness, she can move on with her life. I will never ever write her off. She did so much in her career, that even other great female singers can only dream of. 25 years in this hard music business, and still relevant, no other artist can say that.

2014? (49,646) by Otti from Belgium
This Jamaica thing brings us back to before the Ellen appearance. The most unthankful thing is, that fans on this board, saying things like she can't sing anymore, since 1997? Come on, are you for real? Since 1997 there are many beautiful performance and studio albums. Okey there is a problem with Mariah, we don't know her like this. She used to be perfect. Time will heal. She need to get through this. It's like the Glitter era, but back then, soon she recovered, she was back on track. Remember Never Too Far/Hero? On the other hand, I was thinking, Katy or Rihanna, autotune, grinding on the floor, lack of singing, and their fanbase are so supportive. They can do nothing wrong. Mariah with a voice "fragile as a leaf in autumn" hit one note wrong, and all the "haters" start to hate. One more thing, I'm a fan of her not only because of her music, but I always felt she is underrated. If I see videos like Honey or The Roof, no one can do what she does. I don't see Celine or Whitney (rip) back then jump out of a building into a pool.

Someday (49,553) by Otti from Belgium
When I became a fan of Mariah, she was known as a perfectionist. Everything was on point, from her hair to singing to the way she stands or sit. Now she looks tired. I don't get it. If you are not capable to perform, then don't do it. It's like she handed to the critics. Before this Jazz performance, I was daydreaming what if she scores another number one hit while she is giving concerts at Caesars Palace? If she gonna release a number one's album, with new songs, and one of the new songs is a first single to promote the concerts and the album. That would be great. Until then I enjoy myself with YouTube clips, I like her energy at the MSG, singing Someday with her backing vocals. Or "Can't take that away" at the Blockbuster Awards.

She is back baby (49,219) by Otti from Belgium
I really love the appearance on Ellen. She looks gorgeous. I love her hairdo while she was playing housekeeper. Nice to she her like I used to. And finally she does promo for her work. That's a good sign.

Vegas (49,103) by Otti from Belgium
Suddenly, I was thinking why Mariah is going to do Vegas shows? Is it because her latest album did not sell well? Then she has to know, her album didn't do well on the charts, because there was no real campaign, no video clips, no interviews. The album dropped and Mariah disappeared. In a time were albums sales are going downhill. Who is right now there to tell her what's good or bad for her carreer? Who makes this decisiones for her? She started verry clean with #Beautiful, the song was right, the video, the promo, she looked amazing at that time. But after #Beautiful, something happened. She gained weight and was unhappy. In the past, with every release Mariah was everywere and at her best. I really don't know if Vegas is good or bad. Since the Vegas shows Always has a theme. Is Mariah going to celebrate her 25 in the game in Vegas?

The Elusive Chanteuse Show in Vegas? (49,028) by Otti from Belgium
I think it's clever if Mariah did the Vegas residency. If she links the Vegas show to her most recent album "Me. I am Mariah" then she can blow new life in this album since we all know that selling albums is not what it was. It's like doing a USA tour, but on one place, so that people from all over the world can come to these shows. Like I said before, the game has changed, and an artist like Mariah looks for another way to get her music heard. I think the time is right for Vegas, evenmore, this time Mariah needs Vegas to promote her work. Not like Celine but temporarily just to promote her latest album and celebrating MC25. On the otherhand, if she has plans to release a new album, then she should not go to Vegas.

Abraham (48,993) by Otti from Belgium
When I said "clean it up" I meant image wise, since we live in a society were it's all about the image. Since the video Eternal, Mariah hasn't made another video to promote MIAMTEC. There were no interviews or magazine spreads. She used pictures from a year ago. And people were saying she is fotoshopped to the extreme, when she looked like that in the spring of 2013. You know what I'm talking about. If you look to the video of #Beautiful and the performance she did in 2013, she looks exactly like the cover art of MIAMTEC, what was released in 2014. We all know when Mariah is in good place, she gives interviews all over the world like it's nothing. On the otherhand, with no promo at all, no interviews, no campaign, she gave a succesful tour in Asia and downunder, sold 6 Christmas shows in New York. I never complain about her voice, on her "worst" she's still better than current artists at their best. I'm still wondering how artists like Katy and Rihanna score number one hits in the USA like it's nothing when they use autotune on stupid songs.

Talking about covers (48,985) by Otti from Belgium
I think [...], sung and written by R Kelly, would be a great cover for Mariah to do. She can do her powerhouse vocals on it with a great gospel chords.

Clean up (48,979) by Otti from Belgium
The game has changed. Like I said, Mariah should work with singles. She can release two singles, one ballad, one up tempo urban/dance. With two videos (like [...] and [...]) These two video's had one theme. And wait, what's gonna work for radio? But first, lets be honest, Mariah needs to feel in a good place. We all know that's she is not comfortable with her self the last year. If I look back to 2013, when she was promoting #Beautiful, she was skinny and looking healthy, acting normal, giving inteviews. And now she looks so heavy and wears all the time long dresses. I love to see her feeling comfortable as long she is in this divorce and label thing. It's better to do nothing. Or it's gonna be worser than it already is. If she is gonna do something this year, she needs to clean up a little bit. And give interviews, talk to the people. Say something good. She is beautiful and talented. And with her [...] there is a lot to come.

25 y.o. (48,958) by Otti from Belgium
The other night I was reading the Wiki article about the album Number Ones. And I was thinking how the music industry has changed for the worst. Back then, it was easy for an artist to connect with the fans with just an album. Now with social media and the internet everything has changed. Now for Mariah to celebrate the 25 years in the music industry with an album is not easy, since no one is buying cds. This generation is not waiting for an album, with for an example a booklet with stories behind the song or pictures like back then. How I miss that time. I got nice memories with the number ones album. You had all the number ones plus some new covers. Nowadays if people want to hear an old song, they go to YouTube, that's why Mariah videos still making more and more views. I don't have no idea if it's good or not to celebrate with an album. Back then for me, I had no internet at home, having the number ones album was a good manner to hear her other hits. If Mariah can have another number one, then releasing a new album with number ones, so that this generation can listen to the older music. That would be great. It worked for me back then.
