About Marcus from Brazil: I'm from Brazil. I've been a fan of Mariah's since the first vision. I have an extensive collection of singles, magazines, and memorabilia. I've traveled almost to every country to see her live.

A break now? No thank you (54,532) by Marcus from Brazil
I don't think Mariah should be taking breaks now, but she definitely need to collaborate with some current producers because she needs a few hits help her carry her next album. Let's be honest, without "It's Like That", "We Belong Together" and "Shake It Off", "The Emancipation of Mimi" wouldn't have stood a chance. No because the music was bad, but because it would've been an album with no legs. (all caps) "Mariah needs a new sound, as simple as that." She needs to write again uncomplicated but beautiful lyrics like "Butterfly", "Petals", "My All", "Underneath The Stars" just to name a few. If she doesn't burst her bubble, she won't be able to connect with this new generation. She should know by now that "Infinity" is really just a made up dream, and that she'd better bring something decent to the table next time.

Randy (54,462) by Marcus from Brazil
Randy, there is not blinder man than the one who refuses to see. Everything you said in your last post was spot on. At this rate, being only 45, what will be left when she reaches Patti's or Barbra's age? Mariah has been criticized, but one thing she always had to shut down her critics was quality music and great delivery. She didn't have to use smoke and mirrors to mask anything, you either loved her or hated her, but either way she was the lady that would take a mike and sing. I think in her mind she thinks that the whistle register will keep saving the day, but she's used it so much that it has lost its "wow" effect on people. I hope she keeps improving and taking care of her voice because at this rate if she doesn't do something about it, in five years she'll be sounding like "Minnie Mouse on helium". I do pray for a miracle.

Mimi L. from (54,451) by Marcus from Brazil
Mimi L., didn't you say you were from the Philippines or another Asian country? If it is so, your Obama Care won't ever kick in. I think you and Shelly are very sweet people. Your posts are usually balanced leaning more to the positive, but nonetheless never borderline delusional. If there are two posters here bullies shouldn't pick on is you and Shelly. Remember that bullies cook in their own oil when their targets fight back, and I think she got the wrong one with you. I'm pretty sure you'll end up in their "Burn Book", but oh well, as long as they don't write "you're a pusher" or that "you made out with a hotdog", I think everything will be fine.

The genie in a bottle (54,415) by Marcus from Brazil
Mariah is a musical genius, not some artist who is trying to find her voice. Many lambs have come to settle for mediocrity from her and it is very sad. I'm not talking about a hit, I'm talking about producing a song that even if it doesn't do well on the charts, at least we can say wow, this song is good, the lyrics are great, even when the lyrics might be fun and stuff. MIAMTEC was full of great songs. If I'm going to be crucified or called a goat for expecting her to deliver quality music, then I'm willing to bleed to death, but I ain't settling for rushed half-cooked uninspired music and performances, and I'm not talking about her voice. "Infinity" is a stain on the new edition of her #1's collection, as simple as that. It wasn't the case with any of the extra tracks of the first #1's. "Infinity loving me more and more", really Mariah? What about
"Nearing the edge
Obvious I almost
Fell right over
A part of me
Will never be quite able
To feel stable
That woman-child falling inside
Was on the verge of fading
Thankfully I
Woke up in time"
I really hope you wake up in time, again. I can't get in my head that the genius that wrote "Looking In", "Outside", "Close My Eyes" and "Petals" is the same person who wrote "Infinity".

Mimi L. / Thank you (54,414) by Marcus from Brazil
Mimi L., thanks for addressing that, I don't even know what to call her. It was time somebody said something to that [censored] disguised as a toddler. Some people when desperate or losing an argument usually resort to personal insults or hitting below the belt, like bringing an Obama Care comment as way to put you down, very typical. Miss Toddler really thinks she's lamb royalty from Sweden, look what happened to Regina George. B, you need to read Andrew's last post, you need help. Neither you nor the other nasty bullies here will chase me away, you don't have that power. To state that posters who have different opinions from yours are goats is ridiculousness at its maximum. But as I said, read Andrew's last post "View from a cushion (54,399)", the truth shall set you free.

Ben / her choices (54,375) by Marcus from Brazil
I agree with you. Not every time something's wrong on Mariah's camp somebody else should be to blame. I consider JD a real friend of Mariah's, so when he says that she doesn't take her career seriously anymore, it is something to think about. But then again, according to some fans, Mariah's always the helpless miss goody two shoes that people like to pick on. Mariah's declining career has to do in part with the choices she has made, so let's stop looking for a scape goat in everything. The music business is about "timing", when a plan has been put in place and Mariah hasn't filmed her video because she's overweight, it is easy looking for the next one to blame. She was vacationing and having fun with Brett, yet she started her residency without having the video filmed. But oh well, let me find an excuse: she's a mother now, she doesn't have time for that. If I were her mother, I would slap her into being a grounded person because grounded she is not. She's floating.

Mimi L. / the Paris coversation (54,356) by Marcus from Brazil
Mimi L., if that conversation really took place, there must be something really wrong with Mariah and her team then. Signing with Sony again wasn't something she didn't think thoroughly, she signed because she definitely saw the potential and support. As of now, they have been doing excellent damage control, to the point where bad press about her have come and gone very quickly, that is not coincidence, that's excellent team work from Sony. I don't know if Mariah has understood that her name along won't carry her singles anymore. As for "Infinity", if Mariah wants a hit, then she should produce a hit, not a half-cooked hit wannabe like "Infinity", it is not single material. When a lamb takes a single and mix it better than the original, you can actually see that "Infinity" was a rush half-cooked project. Why should Sony promote something that even us fans know ain't going anywhere, the decaying music business doesn't work like that anymore. Big budgets for music videos and huge advances are a thing of the past. They put the money on a song that has legs and will eventually not only benefit the artist. I know we all love Mariah, but we all know she also has a huge ego, she's not the goody two shoes helpless lady we thing she is. She's very talented, intelligent and a business woman, but she should burst her bubble to come down to the real world for a little while.

Ardis / Morgan (54,200) by Marcus from Brazil
Checking with Mariah's team before posting anything is what MCArchives shouldn't do. MariahDaily turned into a dead zone when they fell for that by encapsulating themselves into bubble of positiveness, and eventually it imploded. There's positive and negative news about Mariah, so why not posting them. Of course The National Enquirer is well known for getting things mostly wrong, so I see where Eric was coming from by not posting their story. I'm pretty sure if Morgan had any concern about Mariah, he would've used a better outlet to do so. Morgan is Mariah's dear bother for god sake, I'm pretty sure any credible outlet in the states would be willing to listen to what he has to say.

Andrew / very typical (53,784) by Marcus from Brazil
Andrew, you nailed it on your last post. No matter the facts, anything said about Mariah by people who at some point in time worked with her is a lie. Everybody has been bad to poor innocent miss goody-two-shoes Mariah. L.A. Reid, JD, Damizza, Nick, etc are bad for Mariah. As if Mariah were a little innocent girl who sits on a Barbie pedestal at night. And don't even imply Mariah had sex, she had those babies by divine conception. Mariah is this little 12 year old everybody likes to pick on. When she throw shades at some one, it is ok, she must have a valid reason. When they throw shade at her, she's a victim, and those shaders should be put to death. Most of the fans that kept some sort of balance on this board have gone away or are taking breaks, but one can definitely feel that MCArchives messageboard is not the same without them. Please guys come back, this is getting to "Mariah Daily" up in here.

LA Reid / just chill (53,556) by Marcus from Brazil
Mariah Carey has had lots of pressure to produce a hit. The media has their eyes on her, and no matter whether she has a top 10, people are always expecting for her next #1. Of course LA Reid and Mariah are on the same page, he is just making sure people give Mariah a fair chance without the pressure. They must've realized by now that regurgitating her having #18's at every chance has done more bad than good. The music scene is very unpredictable, what you think might stick could turn out to be a disappointment or vice versa. Let's stop the witch hunt every time something goes wrong with Mariah's music, sometimes shit happens. Just remember that unlike her Sony days, Mariah, just like Beyonce, has lots of input on her music too, to the point where she goes in the studio and basically put her album together by herself without being bother. I think Sony's nailing it in the promotion department. To the point that "#1 to Infinity" might sell more copies than "MIAMTEC". Chill, and enjoy the ride.

BBMA's / finally (53,472) by Marcus from Brazil
I'm very pleased with the BBMA's performance. Mariah has finally put some effort into lipsyncing convincingly. The lipped high note at the end of "Infinity" didn't sound like it was disconnected and at a different volume from the parts she sung live. Sony is definitely doing their best to work with what is left of her voice. People should stop asking Mariah to be confident when we clearly know her confidence depends on her voice, and she clearly knows her voice is very unpredictable. Seeing her not being able to sing a song like "Vision of Love" has broken my heart. Mariah must be taking something for her voice/health that's making thick and bloated. I'm just happy this Vegas thing is a couple of months for two years. If she could craft a great album for next year, her next Vegas run would be a great time to promote it.

Live performing divas (53,404) by Marcus from Brazil
Whitney's voice wasn't shot after '95. She delivered stellarly in the "My Love Is Your Love" era, and then again on her greatest hits album. Her voice deteriorated rapidly after 2001. Mariah's voice declined right after she started promotion for "Butterfly", it was painful watching her struggle gasping for air since to me she was the diva with lungs of steel before that. She regained her range and power for "Glitter" though, I was pleasantly surprised at her delivery on this album. Mariah is definitely a better overall musician than Whitney, but we should recognize that in the "live department", taking into consideration the years they were performing before their voices started to decline, Whitney trumps Mariah. Mariah wins hands down on being no only a vocalist but a lyricist and producer. Whitney maintained her voice for about 15 years before crack took its toll on her voice, Mariah had only being in the business for 6 years and just on world tour. So it pains me to say it, but Whitney evidently was a better live performer than Mariah, the proof is on YouTube. I love Mariah more, but the truth shall be told.

Mimi L / how dare you? (53,306) by Marcus from Brazil
Mimi L., how dare you copy my thoughts? I completely agree with your last post. It was so on point that I was just going to say amen to it. I hope it doesn't take Mariah more than two years to come with a new album.

Mimi L / Infinity (53,297) by Marcus from Brazil
Mimi L., are you really surprised by the falling of "Infinity" from BB Hot100? It's 928 on iTunes. It's definitely a slipper hit. It's slipping away. The song is simply not single material and people are not feeling it, as simple as that. No matter how much they hype it, if people don't like it, it's a wrap. Any of the extra tracks on the original #1's are better than "Infinity". And let's not pretend that because it is a flop now it was only intended to promote her Vegas residency and nothing else. It was a rushed bad choice. The only sad thing is that it is now just a filler on a #1's record. I'm mad because I think Mariah is capable of doing better than "Infinity".

Infinity? (53,267) by Marcus from Brazil
For those who think that magically a video is going to make "Infinity" happen, it's not going to happen. Based on the fact that as of now "Infinity" is 834 on iTunes, streaming of the lyric video is minimal, and it is not being played on the radio. Unless Mariah comes up with some great remixes and a Michael Jackson type of video in terms of production, I would suggest those hopeful to keep your faith of Mariah's next project and her residency in Vegas.

Mimi L., Infinity updates (53,162) by Marcus from Brazil
Mimi L., looking at it realistically, "Infinity" did what it was going to do. It's too far down on iTunes now to recover. The video could serve as a means to promote her shows in Vegas and that's good though. I'm happy she's getting good reviews because at least she's putting an effort in doing things right, even if she lips, she's doing it convincingly. She doesn't seem to be giving herself away by trying to conceal it with the spinning or covering her face. The first show was important because that's the show the media usually focuses on, and now it is out of the way and with great reviews, now she can relax and just perform. "Leaking" the audio to TMZ was pure genius.

B / being realistic about the charts (52,824) by Marcus from Brazil
B, don't get your hopes too high about the charts. "Infinity" didn't make any big impact on iTunes and it is now out of the top 100. Without sales there's no chance. We've been there before with the "it hasn't been served to radio yet" comments, the most important radio stations have the song, and if it had been that popular, others would've followed. Radio stations have even made hits out of leaked tracks picked from the Internet. Let's be realistic, you might think "Infinity" is the best song in the world, but according to the numbers "Infinity" is not going to happen. Like some fan stated, when you only have one song to entice people to buy an album full of past hits, you need to attack from all directions. Once again there's no video ready, and I don't think it would make any difference now. I'm not being negative, I'm being realistic. I like "Infinity", but there's no chance this is going to crack Billboard Hot 100. Rihanna's "Bitch Better Have My Money" topped the iTunes songs for a week, it still debuted at #23 on Billboard Hot 100, it moved up a little with airplay, but then again it's going downhill.

Live in the studio vs live in concert (52,780) by Marcus from Brazil
There must be something wrong with anybody who thinks that any artist who can sing their songs live in the studio will be able to easily replicate it live in concert, because according to that logic, it's their voice anyway. Well, when singing live on stage you don't have time to do perfect cut and paste or taking breaks of maybe weeks during sessions. Singing live is the ultimate challenge for any vocalist. Acting on stage is more challenging than acting in a movie where a scene can be re-shoot over and over until it comes out right. On stage, you only have one shot. So, it is ridiculous the analogy that if they can sing it live in the studio, they can definitely replicate it live, especially when a person has suffered evident damage in their vocal cords. You can be the biggest fan, but that doesn't mean you have to be so ignorant. If you own a computer, broadband Internet and a smart phone, you should know these things.

John / enhanced mix (52,778) by Marcus from Brazil
I love your mix, but whatever happened to the second verse? You've left it out. If you find a way to incorporate it into your mix, in my opinion, Mariah should hire you. It is ridiculous the talent of some fans out there. How can some fans with some regular software can create mixes that sound more professionally done than the original? Kudos to those who have created these mixes, they definitely offer an alternative to those who don't like the official song.

The delusion keeps on coming (49,835) by Marcus from Brazil
When Mariah was being heavily vituperated for her Tree Lighting Christmas performance, for the delusional lambs it was ok that some celebrities publicly defended her, nobody complained stating they should've told her those positive things privately. Now Nathan gives an excellent constructive criticism to Mariah in the same way, publicly, and the delusional ones would've preferred for him to have called Mariah because he's messing with her by stating so in public. So, tell her the good things in public, and tell her the ones the delusional fans don't want to hear privately. Nathan has done what many of her colleagues, and real friends should be doing, being straight forward to Mariah in hopes that she listens. He is not messing up with her Vegas gig, he might actually be helping to save it. Since when does constructive criticism is considered to be a diss? Nathan is in a way voicing to her what we want her to be aware of. And no, the fact they might have sung a duet together doesn't mean these celebrities keep in touch with each other or have their latest cellphones and private phones to communicate with them at will, it is ridiculous.

Ty / Nathan Morris (49,832) by Marcus from Brazil
Ty, how is Nathan being shady towards Mariah? Actually those are the types of friends that Mariah needs. He wasn't being disrespectful, he was giving her an honest opinion based on his experience. I bet Trey Lorenz would never tell her anything like that. Mariah has an instrument that is getting rusty and it needs oiling so it could perform consistently. I really appreciate his input in all this.

The Emancipation of Mimi 3.0 (49,808) by Marcus from Brazil
I think Mariah is going to be just fine. It's a good thing that people's attention span these days is so ephemeral that they move to the next subject rather quickly. Mariah has gotten her wake-up call, I hope she uses this public outcry to bring about some positive and necessary changes. Sometimes we need to humble ourselves a little to understand all the blessings in our lives. I hope she realizes that she's a megastar because of the support of hers fans, that we shouldn't be taken for granted with subpar performances. Many have jumped ship, but many of us are still here rooting for her, some with tough love, some with constructive criticism, and others with unconditional love, but always here through thick and thin.

Old hits with new flavor / the power of the Super Bowl (49,776) by Marcus from Brazil
I don't think Mariah would invest her time re-recording her difficult songs to adjust them to her vocal current range, she would take that as admitting defeat. I think she should record new songs without those difficult bells and whistles and start singing them in concert. I know we want to hear a couple of her biggest hits, but a tour should focused on promoting new music. It is time for Mariah to regroup, surround herself with a good and caring team, work with some big names, and come back to Vegas with a good plan. Missy Elliot has placed three songs on iTunes top 10 ever since her Super Bowl performance. Two from 2001 and one from 2005, she's been selling as if those singles just were recently released. It makes me happy that her music is being exposed to a new generation as if it were fresh.
