Re: Drag queen on Mariah's BTS "diva" antics (93,676) (93,678) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
L.M.F.A.O. The day I listen to a drag queen acting like an arbiter of human behaviour is the day I listen to a Game Hunter lecture me on animal rights.

Re: Odyssey of Sound (93,670) (93,672) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
First four track titles of Odyssey of Sound (Monster Raver Edition) have just been released. They may be of some interest to you.

1. Teenage Fangirl
2. R U Still Here?
3. Dont H.A.T.E. Me Cos You A.I.N.T. Me
4. Belgium (Not a real country)

Re: New album title (93,665) (93,667) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
1. No. "Mariah" is a bullshit title that has so little meaning, and what meaning it does have has been done before by so many crap artists who thought they were "really showing the inner me" (cue barfing).

2. Mariah has been making the "music she really loves" since Sony. Nobody has told her what to make. The fact that most of it hasn't sold well is telling. Nobody wants Mariah to make self-indulgent crap. They want her to make music people want to hear, in her inimitable way.

Self-referential crap title with self-indulgent crap music? Hmm, where has that been done before? Charmbracelet? Memoirs? Me I am the Unicorn?

Just no.

Re: What songs have you been listening to? (93,661) (93,664) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
Never Forget You, or: One Sweet Day Parte the First. At least this choice of yours has a melody, a climax and a vocal that isn't three notes whispered in different combinations like your treasured PG album fillers. The best part of this song is "on and on, and on and on, foreverrr, everrr, ohhhh".

Odyssey of Sound (93,663) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
If Mariah makes one more self-referential album title (for instance, as suggested, "Mariah") I will stop paying her attention.

"Odyssey" in itself is a good title. I would develop it perhaps to something like "Odyssey of Sound". It's universal, it doesn't sound feminine (which alienates her male audience) and it could represent a shift in musical gear, a change in direction.

It sounds mature and sophisticated. Of course we could always have "Here I am, Mimi, the floating necklace-wearing unicorn".

Re: Gold editions and tour (93,644) (93,646) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
Gurl gone done a quarantine "concert". This is only mildly preferable to death, and even then it's a cointoss-able decision.

Heavens to Betsy, is this a joke or does this thing think it can actually sing? I am pretty sure that the second half of its version of O Holy Night is when that bunch of cats was put into a bag and thrown in a river. I have not laughed this much this side of COVID-19.

Can soundwaves cause cancer?

Article: Mariah Carey makes "Tiger King" themed cake (93,642) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
Does anyone know the address of Mariah's building? Just out of interest. I'd like to go to her building to see where it is when I eventually visit New York City one day.

On that subject, Mariah has lived in her stupidly massive apartment for about 20 years now, right? In all that time, it appears she has never redecorated. The kitchen is the same, the mermaid room is the same, the peach walls are the same, the Moroccan room is the same. 20 years. No redecorating.

Re: Gold editions and tour (93,639) (93,641) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
Your inclusion of "Do You Wonder" on your world tour concert of almost every song in Mariah's catalogue made me start thinking about unreleased tracks. This is a good page about them. But of all unreleased tracks Skydiving has got to be up there with the best. This version is incomparable. Honestly, bear with it, it gets so good. I'm still laughing. I hope I dream of this tonight.

Re: Gold editions and tour (93,635) (93,637) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
I appreciate your albums but you seem like like a lot of the (how can I say it?) blander album filler than I do. I also don't understand your dislike of GTFO. GTFO is a brilliant, moody, atmospheric song.

I have to say, though, your world tour is the campest affair I could ever hope to see. Are you sure you didn't help design the Rainbow tour? Ah, you can't have as you would maybe have had to have seen Mariah on a previous tour in Europe and I don't believe you have ever mentioned going to one. I might actually go to see a tour such as that save for the inclusion of Right To Dream - for the mass suicide of 20,000 people is not something in which I would like to partake.

PG-Mariah albums (Gold Editions) (93,615) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
I think all PG (post-Glitter) Mariah albums suffer from being too long and, thus, too convoluted. I've always thought 10 or 11 track albums are enough to digest. For shits and giggles, I have shortened the length of PG-Mariah albums and, in the case of MIAM, renamed it and re-sequenced it. They are called Gold Edition because Gold happens to be the surname of a devilishly handsome blond British boy who has put some thought into this.

Charmbracelet (Gold Edition)
1. Through The Rain
2. Boy (I Need You)
3. Yours
4. You Got Me
5. I Only Wanted
6. Clown
7. My Saving Grace
8. Bringin' On The Heartbreak
9. Sunflowers for Alfred Roy
10. Through The Rain (Remix)

The Emancipation of Mimi (Gold Edition)
1. It's Like That
2. We Belong Together
3. Shake It Off
4. Mine Again
5. Say Something
6. Stay The Night
7. Get Your Number
8. To The Floor
9. Don't Forget About Us
10. Fly Like A Bird

E=MC2 (Gold Edition)
1. Migrate
2. Touch My Body
3. Cruise Control
4. Stay In Love
5. Side Effects
6. I'm That Chick
7. I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time

10. I Wish You Well

Article: Mariah Carey sends boyfriend sweet birthday message (93,586) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
"Posting a cute photo with her man of nearly four years" - should this read "Posting a cute photo with her man taken nearly four years ago"? Sorry, but Mariah looks absolutely nothing like this. She really does live in a fantasy if she thinks people are going to think that this is her now.

I have to say, though, well done to Mariah and Bryan for 4 years worth of relationship. That is surely almost the longest relationship she has ever had. And nobody said it would last. Except for me.

Re: Hero (93,580) (93,582) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
It's better than many performances yes but I just watched it again and won't rewatch it. I watch things to be entertained not feel uncomfortable. If I feel uncomfortable, what do the general public feel?

I do not understand why Mariah can no longer read from an autocue without nervously contorting her body into different poses every half second and why she speaks like she's about to vomit from nervousness. I don't understand why she is engineering vocals to the easiest song to sing especially given it's prerecorded - by her - in her own home. Can't she sing it? I don't know where these weird hand movements have come from. She used to, back in the day, throw her arms around with the big notes, point up with a high one, point down with a low one and it all felt seamless, fluid and necessary. Those there hand movements match the body convulsions in awkwardness. You're trying to listen to the song and your eyes keep getting drawn to her doing a finger-and-thumb asshole gesture to the camera.

Honestly, ABMB was really good. This was not. This was not what somebody of her stature, experience and calibre should be putting out. This should have been run past a manager who has the balls to say "Mariah, nope. This is not going out. This is not good enough."

Re: Hero (93,568) (93,575) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
I had to just rewatch it as it seems I saw something completely different from everyone else. The vocal is good. But it definitely appears engineered and dubbed in several places (engineering is evident as strings have been added in, which is completely unnecessary). Can someone convince me this is not true and that is one deceit too far, in my opinion. And badly executed.

Hero is supposed to be a love song to individual strength, inspiring and motivating. But watching Mariah sing it here is really quite stressful. She looks uncomfortable and those hands need to stop moving so much. Sorry, buddy, but I found the whole thing awkward. But then, I would, wouldn't I? I think my analysis is fair, however.

Re: Hero (93,563) (93,564) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
Superb home performance? Maybe the original was. But with the audio over-dubbed and engineered to within an inch of its life, we'll never know.

That "performance" is shockingly awkward and bad. Mariah, you need a strong manager who knows how to say no to you.

A passing observation (93,558) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
You would have all seen these videos on YouTube - and I am certain almost everyone here will get them in their feed - that are titled along the lines of "Mariah Carey can't sing anymore", "Mariah lost her voice" and so on. If you bother to click on them you will discover that the adult-cum-teenage mangirl uploader is actually gleefully showing you snippets of recent successful live notes, claiming that ("haha, showed you") Mariah can still sing exactly like she did in the 90s.

And this is all rather something to behold. For whilst he/she/it sits alone in their Mariah-wallpaper laden bedroom watching the views go up in stan orgasmic pleasure, feeling smug and self-assured that he/she/it has oh-so-cleverly taught everyone a lesson, all that's really been achieved is that there are bold statements all over YouTube either telling the scrolling general public that Mariah Carey has, in fact, lost her voice, or, at the very least, making the discussion of a somewhat retired topic very fresh in their heads. It is shockingly stupid.

Re: NHS choir - Anytime You Need A Friend (93,518) (93,519) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
I have always said what I think. I don't think I am any different now. I would not have friends whom I message outside of this board if I was a complete dick. It's just the positive is outweighing the negative right now.

I am genuinely worried about what is happening on an existential level. False political hope of getting out of it sooner than we can? It's nonsense. I know the Americans are lagging behind Europe but are feeling it just as bad. Especially with the nonsense coming out of the American President's mouth - a person I once supported. This is all insane.

My Prime Minister is now in Intensive Care. We know that within 5 days you're either moved out of ICU or you're dead. He's not my head of state. The Queen is my head of state (God save her). But I am, as my country is, shocked.

I have genuinely turned to Mariah's music in these times, just as I have always done when bad things happen. Her voice is a constant to me. Yes, I have a Queen. An actual one. And her speech was brilliant and soothing. For "we will meet again". But Mariah will provide me with another constant that I know of.

Let's keep it positive.

I wish all of you, genuinely, long and happy lives.

Article: Mariah Carey thanks NHS during coronavirus crisis (93,516) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
Recently some stunning blue eyed guy suggested Mariah pay a comment forward to the NHS choir for the AYNAF tribute. Seems Mariah likes this blond stud, after all. Suggest he become her manager.

Re: NHS choir - Anytime You Need A Friend (93,511) (93,514) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
And absolutely the same to you and your loved ones in return, Brandon.

Does anyone else talk over the AYNAF intro: "This is another new song from my new album, called Anytime You Need A Friend. I just wanna dedicate it to everybody here to fight. Thank you for coming." I do it every time.

I watched AYNAF from Here Is Mariah Carey so much I can do all of her hand movements without looking. Watched it every day before school without fail. Those were the days. They were simpler times.

Re: NHS choir - Anytime You Need A Friend (93,507) (93,508) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
There was a really sexy blond guy on here recently who said that Anytime You Need A Friend would be the song to fit the times. What a wise soul that guy was.

Guy's and St Thomas Hospitals in Central London have helped me out many times, without cost, efficiently and always with good spirit. I love the NHS (National Health Service in the UK). I love what it stands for, I love what they do and I love everyone in it. Great rendition of AYNAF. I believe a comment from Mariah is in order.

Re: Fan favourites concert "no April Fool's joke" (93,504) (93,506) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
What I also appreciated from Mariah's iHeart Living Room performance: she didn't flash her house. I don't believe her recording microphone is in an unglamorous tiny corner with a few picture frames. She's Mariah Carey - rather quite well known and successful in the world - and I am sure she can afford bigger and better than, say, a Backstreet Boy, but, whilst people stuck at home in tiny apartments without gardens or outside spaces looked on, the Backstreet Boys showed you opulent living rooms, grand pianos, grandiose fire places and, ugh, a swimming pool. Crass. That Mariah filmed her segment it in a humble corner was a very on-point thing to do.
