Thanks Randy. I haven't posted in awhile but every once in awhile I'll check the message board out. You know Randy if Mariah would humble herself and sit in the audience at these awards shows, she would see how these younger artists are blowing her spot up. That could be inspiring and motivating for her to step her game up when it comes to these live performances. A good manager would suggest that to her. Does Mariah even have a manager? Hey Stacey. Nice to see you up in this piece. How are the kiddos?

Reality check (54,561)
by Special K from USA
| |
|
|
Mariah doesn't need to take a break, she needs a reality check and accept some truths about herself. 1. Mariah ain't hot. I mean she's alright but she ain't as hot as these younger artists. 2. Mariah is old. Not saying grandma status but she's older. The 90 's are long gone honey. Mariah has got to reconnect with those fans that grew up with her. You know, us old folks that are over 30. Here in the US Mariah should be ruling Adult Contemporary/R&B stations that play no hip-hop. She should be the Queen Bee on that format. R. Kelly, Faith Evans, even freakin Charlie Wilson get their songs played in heavy rotation. You don't see them selling less than 200,000 copies of their albums because those fans who grew up with them are still supporting them. Hell Barbra Streisand can drop an album tomorrow and her junk will go straight to the top. Also these wack ass videos have got to stop. Mariah's videos should be epic and mind blowing. To me, Mariah doesn't present herself as the legendary artist that she is. Like JD said Mariah should be on a whole other level. It's crazy to see her perform live on an awards show then someone like Kelly Clarkson performs after her and straight blows her out of the water. Mariah needs to get it together and have a bigger, epic vision when it comes to the career choices that she makes.

Wow is it me or has anyone noticed the good publicity Mariah is getting lately? I mean girlfriend is looking real good in Paris and those pictures of her with dembabies are priceless. Mariah looks rested and content. Love it. Side bar: I so want those shoes Mariah wore to Disneyland.

Morgan Carey (54,253)
by Special K from USA
| |
|
|
I believe Morgan. I hate the fact that he did an interview with Radar Online but I straight up believe him. For the past 15 years Mariah hasn't been consistent at all regarding her live performances. Sometimes the voice is there, sometimes it's not which has lead to more and more lipped performances. Jermaine Dupree was onto something when he said Mariah doesn't take her career seriously. I'm not saying she is an alcoholic but Mariah appears to drink more than socially which isn't good if she is on bi-polar medications. Unfortunately many people who are diagnosed with Bi-polar don't like taking their medications and resort to alcohol or drug abuse to numb the mental pain. Sorry but Morgan spoke nothing but truth when he said something about the people around her don't have her best interest along with Mariah having a big ego. I pray she gets the helps she needs if this is actually true. Sending nothing but love.

Lol, Mariah know she's dead wrong for putting out a diss song about Nick. Just kidding. The song is alright. I'm not really feeling it but I don't think it's a bad song.

Lol, thanks Marcus from Brazil. You know Mariah is straight boss. She has kept her cool and not said anything about her marriage ending with Nick. I couldn't do it. I would of pounced on that fool.

Vegas / Diana Ross (49,127)
by Special K from USA

|
|
My goodness, haven't posted up in this piece for a minute. I think the Vegas gig is a beautiful thing. Performing on a regular basis will help Mariah gain her confidence back and improve her stage presence. Mariah's tour started off with bad reviews however, midway through the tour, the reviews were near perfect. I will definitely attend some shows in Vegas. Interesting how Diana Ross is occasionally discussed on this board. In my humble opinion Diana has more than an average voice. She is one of the best interpreters of music period. No, Diana does not possess powerful vocal prowlness like Aretha however she more than makes up for it by having the ability to emotionally connect to lyric and sing melodies with personality, control that spoke to the masses. The conviction in her voice can make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Listen to songs like Touch Me In Morning, It's My Turn, or I'm Still Waiting. Every time I hear Missing You I'm shook. Another great example is the Supreme hit My World Is Empty Without You. She sings that song very flat but in a haunting tone that makes you feel it. No one, and I mean no one, can talk sing a song like Diana. Ain't No Mountain High is a perfect example. That song has so much sexual tension. It starts off with gentle innocent foreplay building up to a climatic satisfying organism. There are no powerhouse vocal acrobatics displayed however her instrumentation of that song is powerful. Diana is straight Boss.

I Special K will not be streaming nothing. I'm gonna keep it old school and maintain my tradition of buying a new Mariah Carey album on the day it drops. Yes honey the ritual of actually taking my happy ass to the store and buying the CD. Once I get home I'm going to tear off the plastic wrap like I haven't eaten in a week. Then I will gently place the CD in the CD player and press play. While laying in the bed listening to the music and reading all of the shout outs, writers, and producers, I'm pretty sure while I'm in la la land I will have to tell my husband and my boys to shut hell up, lol. Judging from the reviews, May 27, 2014i can't get here soon enough for me. Side bar: Yes I will buy the album off of iTunes as well.

YDKWTD (43,826)
by Special K from USA

Heard YDK twice on the radio today. I'm addicted to that song. I haven't been this excited about a new Mariah Carey song since WBT. That song is pure perfection. Mariah has taken music to another level again. Nobody has a single out right now that even comes close. I agree, hope they release a version without Wale.

Is Thirsty or YDKWTD the next single? I prefer YDK which is a no brainer in my opinion. That song is refreshing, catchy, has a certain bounce with a pop appeal. Perfect summer jam. Okay, so what was the freaking purpose of releasing You're Mine? What a waste of a good single. . Side bar; I thought the Today performance was good. Way better than the Good Morning performance which was a hot mess.

Glad to see You're Mine making moves on the charts. Like I said, slow burner. I hope Mariah performs the song soon on tv. I would hate to see this song not reach its full potential on the charts.

MC in the flesh (42,280)
by Special K from USA

I have had the privledge of meeting Mariah in the flesh once and attended a few concerts. One thing for sure, tv does not due Mariah justice. That chick is beautiful. Her skin is flawless, and those deeps dark bambie brown eyes will make you melt. She always looks smaller in person than on tv. I met Mariah during the Rainbow era at some record store. When I shook her hand she held onto mine real tight. Someone said her hands were clamy. I agree with that. Anyways, I asked Mariah to sign my Mariah Carey album. Yes album on vinyl. Mariah looked at it and said, "Oh I don't have this on vinyl. Can I have yours?" I was like, "Oh hell no." Mariah straight busted out laughing and gave me a big hug. That was a hella cool moment I will always cherish.

Kelly Price/Stephen from the UK (42,177)
by Special K from USA
| |
|
|
Ah, I have to respectfully disagree about Kelly Price. Nowhere in that interview does she say that Mariah "freaked out" or their relationship ended on bad terms. All she said was that Mariah"wasn't happy" to her leaving, then she states to make a "long story short", she met Puffy and the next day starting writing. Big deal? Of course Mariah wouldn't be happy that one of her best back up singers is leaving. Kelly Price has said way too many positive things over the years about Mariah. I really don't believe that her comments were meant to paint Mariah in a negative way. She was just telling what happened. It's her truth. None of us were there so who are we to judge and make such negative assumptions. I think some of you peeps just want to put a negative spin on Kelly's comments. Drama queens, lol. And excuse you Stephen, Kelly Price has had a decent career in R&B music so you need to fall back sir. JK, you know I love you.

I have heard You're Mine a few times on the radio. I must admit the song has grown on me. Sounds so much better when you're not watching the music video. Song could turn out to be a slow burner if Mariah starts performing it live. Can we say Arsenio Hall?

Actually, the performance was good. Would have been off the meter if she sang 100% live and adlibbed more. Yo, and who exactly was Mariah honoring? Herself? While I was watching the performance I couldn't help but think how beautiful Mariah is. I mean she ain't got nothing on me but she beautiful.

I can't help but laugh when I read comments like, "It's a great song but it's not a hit." At this stage in Mariah's career I'll take a great song anyday over a so-called cookie cutter hit by today's standards.

Yes, I agree. I would love to see Mariah work with Nas again. He is one of my top 3 favorite rappers of all time. Nas has grown and matured with his fans that have been with him since day one. In other words, he has grown up with his fans but he has also managed a way to stay contemporary enough to attrack new younger fans with each album. In hip hop that is rare. Got too many 35 plus year old rappers talking about how much money they got or how many woman they have. Nas is one of the very few that is actually putting out quality music with different themes and subject matters. As you previously mentioned, the song Cherry Wine Nas did with Amy Whinehouse was sick. Actually, Nas began infusing hip hop with classic soulful "jazzy" rhythms when he did "Can't Forget About You" featuring Chrisette Michelle. If Mariah is indeed going for that type of sound. I think it would be a good look.
