MC/Santana collaboration (77,823)

That would a great move. These two musical geniuses joining forces to create something would be a great move. On another note, I hope that Mariah decides to kick off this new era with an uptempo as the first single. Something that can fire up the dance floor and knock in the clubs.

Something new (77,783)

Edward you are absolutely right, Migrate not being a single was such a wasted opportunity. MC, Danja, and T-Pain created a smash that never happened the way it was supposed to. I feel like the new album official first single needs to be an uptempo song that can catch fire in the clubs and burn up the radio.

B / Miguel (77,733)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)

|
You make valid points but honestly Miguel is at a crossroads himself right now. His last album while critics praised it there were no hits and sales lagged. Out of three albums so far Miguel has only had one successful album, which happened to be his sophomore album KD. He and MC made a great record together but I wouldn't want them to ruin that moment trying to recreate that moment, like she does with JD and BMC. Working with Happy Perez would be great on the production front and I would not mind MC working with unknown producers that can bring something new to the table besides the usual suspects.

Did you guys know that Miguel's biggest solo hit Adore still did not out perform #Beautiful on the Billboard Hot 100? Both songs were top 20 hits with Adorn peaking at #17 while #Beautiful peaked at #15 and both songs have been certified double platinum. While Beautiful updated MC's sound a little bit Miguel also benefited from working with MC by scoring his biggest charting single on the Hot 100 to date with Beautiful.

MC (77,713)

At this point Mariah is a big brand whether we want to admit or not. We have to also remember that she is very few left of a dying breed. The big diva pop star alongside Celine, and Madonna. We must also remember that no matter what direction she decided to go into musically at this point radio is going to give her a hard time because the music industry is about youth that is why every few years a new female artist comes that sounds in anyway similar to MC they are so quick to call said female artist the new or next MC. I want MC to experiment with this new album but not so much where she loses her core fan base. I just need for her to become comfortable and confident within herself again and work with people who challenge her to push her pen again and work with different producers who understand Mariah without trying to make her sound like someone else.

I am anticipating this song because MC's Christmas music is top notch. Also I read she wrote and produced this song with Marc Shaiman and honestly these two together have created some great work together.

Fat shaming (77,574)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
| |
|
|
This message board is in uproar once again over a topic that can be very offensive. In my opinion fat shaming is not cool on any level no matter who it is. Just because Mariah is a celebrity of means does not make alright for anyone to fat shame her. While I have to agree she can stand to pick better clothes at times that are more flattering to her body, on another note the diva antics are not a good look either. But it does not mean that she have to endure people making rude and disrespectful comments about her or her weight, it is not going to help by any means, until MC herself decides she wants to do something about it. I mean it's sad that some people are complaining about her weight when there are things on planet Mariah that are going great right now such as her being well received on The All The Hits tour with Lionel Ritchie. With everything that has happened lately with MC this comes as a nice surprise. I understand as a family we are not going to always agree with each other when it comes to things regarding MC but trading insults and disrespecting one another is definitely not the direction we should be heading in. Be blessed and be well my Archives family.

150 greatest albums by women (77,505)

I am happy to see Mariah included on the list but honestly speaking Daydream should have been ranked higher on the list but I truly believe Butterfly should have made the list as it represents Mariah coming into her own as artist and not just an amazing singer/songwriter. Butterfly will always be considered Mariah's crowning moment as the total package in my opinion.

Crying on opening night (77,410)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)

Mariah crying on opening night of The All The Hits tour were tears of joy because even though she says she does not pay attention to what is being said about her I think she has heard not only things said in the press about her lately, but also the things said about her amongst us her fans and to be so well received had to be an amazing feeling. I have to say not only did her looks speak volumes but her confidence spoke for itself and that is the Mariah I want to see more of because it is so refreshing.

What we have to realize is her whole image is based on two main factors: her style and what she is wearing since the 00 Grammys and that Versace dress, and also her relationships and who she is dating because this is what keeps her hot in the headlines and then everything else follows.

The extra meat on the bones (77,315)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)

|
For me this is definitely not a problem. I think she looks healthy, and beautiful. The problem here is the clothes themselves. For all the money in the world MC has been blessed to obtain her sense of style has always been cheesy and cheap for the most part. She needs a team to come refresh her wardrobe like as soon as today with a new era coming up everything has to be right, in order for it to make any kind of impact and with mostly everything in Mariah's world in dire need of CRP at this present time she can not risk nothing including not making sure her style is on point. But other than that I say let her keep some meat on her body because it is nothing wrong with a woman with curves.

Mariah the mother vs Mariah the entertainer (77,186)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
| |
|
|
I believe there are many sides to us all, and Mariah is no different even though we sometimes hold her to a different standard than the average human being. Looking at the clip from Las Vegas with Dem Kids that is where I saw a joy that is indescribable. You can tell the love she has for her children is unconditional and having them in her life has brought a whole new meaning to her she lives for them besides herself. On the other hand Mariah the entertainer is the one who loves the attention of the fans and media and has some insecurities that she deals with on a everyday basis this is why she wears the over the top outfits, her diva persona comes on full force, and she lives for the accolades and praise and without any of that Mariah the entertainer is incomplete. Long story short Mariah the mother is the real Mariah the loving, nurturing, down to earth being, while Mariah the entertainer is the Mariah that is a full fledge diva who has lost her way and lives in a bubble, and is afraid of her real self.

Suggestions (76,979)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
| |
|

I think MC should work with anyone who will force her to move her pen beyond the uninspired stuff as of late. Honestly Miguel has not been a hit since his second album and since Beautiful he has not had a hit song or album. But as an artist I appreciate his music. Not a Frank Ocean fan at all he is definitely overrated. I would not mind her working with Happy Perez and Bruno production team. I think should also try some 90 inspired producers as that sound is on trend but add the MC flare like with Memiors that is the Tricky Stewart Dream sound all over it and production wise the album became stale very quickly.

The House (76,866)

After all the let's use the Mariah was cut from the film as a method of promoting this movie and with Will Farrell's good name this movie was a major flop and it was released on the back of the holiday weekend. Goes to show you team The House should have just promoted [the] movie as much as they could rather than trying to use the let's drag MC for laughs and hopefully use it to our advantage. To Will Farrell and all who are apart of The House movie, time to use another punching bag other than Mariah Carey.

Mariah / jazz (76,838)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
| |
|
|
Mariah is a special kind of artist, she is capable of giving us all kinds of genres and doing a fantastic job but a full on jazz moment is not what we need just yet. I would not mind some jazz influence but with MC a need some variety. A pop with R&B undertones some quiet storm and some 90's influence since it is making a wave again with a minimal amount of hip hop. Mariah just needs some fresh producers who can nurture her greatness and allow her to push her pen again like only she can.

by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)

While I am all for going into different territory this is not the move for Celine because for me sexy and Celine do not go together at all. On another note she could have done this fifteen years ago and I can understand her wanting to do so but at this point it would be arkward because Celine is only known as a ballad and A/C type of artist. But I just wait and see what comes of this maybe this is her Butterfly or Janet moment.

B / regards to new album (76,817)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)

B you hit the nail on the head, age should not matter. It is extremely sad that when it comes to women it's always about age in society and for us men in most cases the rules don't really apply. To me at this point as long as Mariah delivers great material that can be appreciated why should there be limitations. This is the problem while I must admit MC has not delivered up to her standards as of late that does not mean she is not capable only time will tell. I think we all should wait for at least the first official single before we start making judgments.

The House (76,795)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)

With all the press for this movie using MC's name hopefully this movie tops the box office which I highly doubt. It seems the cast found nothing else to talk about other than Mariah. I mean she is no longer apart of the cast so I feel mentioning her should be null and void. Just goes to show you whether good or bad MC's name still ring bells. On another note they asked for MC to play herself and that's what they got lol.

Now a superstar is among us. Mariah looks chic, sexy, and appropriate and it works. I don't mind the boob display at all lol. But whoever selected her looks here needs to become part of the style department of team MC because looking like a mini Stella has done our Mariah no favors.

MC brings down the house (76,578)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)

I have to admit the diva antics act has become very stale regarding MC. To be honest it seems that the promotion for this movie has been how difficult MC was to work with opposed to discussing the actual film itself. Honestly while I believe some of what the co-stars are saying, I also believe that they are doing this because they know for what it is worth Mariah name attracts attention whether for good or bad.

27 years of Mariah (76,275)

My favorite single released from the album would have to be Love Takes Time. My favorite non single from the debut album would have be All In Your Mind or Vanishing. This album as a whole was a strong introduction to the greatness that is Mariah Carey the singer/songwriter/producer.
