I'm glad she's back to rehearsing lol. I was kinda worried but okay. Btw the news said that Nick hates JP. Is that true?

I actually took time again to rethink about your post but found myself disagreeing with you lol. I tend to agree with everybody's opinion without thinking deeper and this time I thought about it. I actually think you came off as a judgmental person, but I do know you have good intentions. I'll have her in my prayers but please, don't come up with another post like that again.

Thanks for pointing out. That could be true because the devil is always after everyone so that all will burn in hell with him. Probably this visit to Israel will help MC since it's like The Holy Land.

Rehearse (55,024)
by darrian liu from taiwan
| |
|
|
MC needs to rehearse, pronto. I don't want all the damage repair go down the drain just because of one bad night. And definitely not because Mariah doesn't prepare well. Her voice is fragile and the climate has a lot of effect on her voice. She needs to adapt back to Vegas' climate and rehearse her voice. I really don't wanna experience the Rockefeller incident again. Btw that's very un-gentleman of JP to just watch while Mariah stumbled. I hope Mariah wouldn't rush to marry him. I don't want her to cloud her judgment with love or money.

Mariah and JP (54,976)
by darrian liu from taiwan

The spiritual advisor thingy wasn't that exciting lol, but it's better than all the negative stuff last year. Team MC is doing a good job at damage repair and building up MC's image back. Btw I just listened to E=MC2 and Butterfly and got a bit frustrated for all the potential that have been wasted. We all agreed Migrate should've been a huge hit but I think all the other released singles could've been hits as well but they're not released properly. Butterfly has at least 3 other hits in it that wasn't released due to the conflict. Ugh why should they put a leash on Butterfly? It could've been Mariah's third consecutive Diamond album but no, they just had to limit its success due to personal conflicts and creative differences.

Great idea (54,892)
by darrian liu from taiwan
| |
|
|
I love Dove's idea. Release an album with videos that when combined, creates a storyline. If Beyonce's latest album is a visual album, Mimi can let that idea go and make herself a movie-album. How cool would that be? Then maybe the cover could be like a real classy movie poster. She could sneak in star cameos as characters. I'm also dying for her making a diva-to-diva-showdown song. That would be fantastic. Or she could do a whole album with only a piano, or like guitars and piano, or only guitars.

I'm having a bit of an overload. Mariah is considering to marry again? I know I don't really have a say at her life but I think it's going way too fast. But then again Mariah still hasn't commented yet on the rumor so let's just see.

Bitch I'm Madonna (54,839)

The video is bad lol. I watched it only for Beyonce and Nicki Minaj. Seriously, even Nicki's verse can't save the song and the cameos can't save the video either. Respect to the legend, but [...], no one at school finds that video good. And the fart noises near the end of the song doesn't help either.

What? BET Blueprint's VOL was pure vocal bliss. There's not a single bad note in it. The phrases after "the answer that heaven has sent down to me" were executed brilliantly, the belts were optimally resonant and her runs were on point. 1998's The View was another story. Some of her belts aren't as resonant as they could be and she was dodging notes with insane melismas (they were really good). Since we're talking about deterioration, then we should do it chronologically. Comparing the performances you gave by year, that's not deterioration.

Re: Vibrato (54,656) by Alexis Morell Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan from USA (54,663)

I noticed lack of vibrato too. I think that's a result of retraining her voice. Before Vegas (2014) her belts in the 5th octave aren't really that good. Now I see her trying to keep support in her belts. Maybe she's advised not to add vibrato before her support is as strong as at least 2005 vocals. If she adds vibrato to her belts now, the notes might not be as good as the notes we're hearing now. Or maybe it's a stylistic choice?

Thanks Bill. I think MC would do a brilliant job at it. But I don't think it's time for her to do a standards album because she's still relevant. Doing standards will do her commercial performance no good. Still waiting for that blockbuster album. *crosses fingers*

New musical direction (54,566)
by darrian liu from taiwan

Actually I think she already got it right during 2013 when #Beautiful came out. But then she decided to release songs that sound like WBT. That was a big mistake. I agree she should take that R-Neg-B, hipster RnB movement, but then I want her to infuse new sounds. Techno beats aren't always cheap and Mariah could do wonders to it considering her massive artistic talent.

Re-releases? (54,530)
by darrian liu from taiwan
| |
|
|
Honestly, I don't really get why Sony is deciding to re-release Merry Christmas. There's no point. AIWFCIY is already the biggest, one of the most adored Christmas songs of all time. Merry Christmas is the best-selling Christmas album of all time. Re-releasing what the public already knows very well doesn't make sense to me. Why not just prepare a big, new studio album with an out-of-the-box concept? Or maybe, touring across the US with smaller, intimate venues to further re-introduce her image to the GP. Actually, I had been thinking about a promotion concept for Mariah. I think the main problem is that Mariah is seen as a has-been by the public. Why not re-introduce her like a new artist? Forget about her achievements, focus on her strengths as an artist and a vocalist (constantly telling people about her 18 #1s is not going to net new fans). It's gonna be better if she reinvented her sound. A classic Mariah sound with a more modern twist. Promoting her like a new artist with the same vigor. Then release an album that is up to MIAM standards (or more) with a huge, coordinated promotional push. Also, she could also dress herself more casually like the camouflage jacket or AI. I think it would be really good. What do you guys think?

I appreciate your point. The polishing of her vocal technique should be done behind the scene, but with concerts, it's not so much about the vocals, it's about the confidence. If she takes a long break from singing on stage, when she goes back to it, most likely the nerves will get to her and she'll go back to old habits. Rather, if you train while singing on stage, you'll be adjusted to the stage, so you'll be able to inject healthy, new habits you learned. This is just a theory, but it was kinda based on my experience. Please correct me if you feel I'm wrong.

Lolol somehow I feel flattered you like my post lolol. Yeah, she could train and practice without a camera, but it's better to have an audience. It's different, singing by ourselves and singing in front of people. In front of people, you'll have the pressure to do good and that pressure could be used to encourage her to pick up good habits in her singing and performing. I think that would propel her voice back to form faster than if she takes a hiatus and just practice behind the curtains.

I disagree with your post. Mariah did miss some notes and runs out of breath at times, but not all the time. Most of the time, she has good breath control and maintains good intonation (maintaining pitch). Her problem now is her extra effort at higher notes when done in closed vowels and her belting, while consistently resonant and well-placed, must be polished more esp in the 5th octave. That doesn't mean she needs a break. That's the last thing she needs. Performing more will give you more confidence as well as retraining your vocal cords. It's like preparing for her second comeback. What she needs is just keep practicing with a vocal coach. Because when you take a break from singing, your voice actually regresses a bit. I do agree she should move more and engage the audience more, like the 1995 MSG. Actually I don't think she puts her all in recent performances because her confidence is still wobbly. The key to good singing is just to let go, and it's clear she's not letting go just yet. Taking a break won't cut it. Lighten up lol, critique what needs to be and celebrate what needs to be. You don't have to be uptight all the time to keep things real.

Some parts of the Walmart performance are misses yeah, but that only shows she's only like, 3/4 warmed up. To be nit-picky, some notes are squeezed, she cracked into pure air in some whispery notes and the belt in "I had a vision of love" before "and it was all" was bad. It was squeezed and raspy. But then it's pretty high (mid 5th octave (Eb5 to be precise)). That's her nodules interfering (especially in the parts she cracked). Overall that was a fine performance. What redeemed it was that she seemed to regain some of her former vocal agility and her ability to coo softly, as well as some optimally resonant belts. I think she doesn't need a break yet, but I do think for her ultimate comeback, she should work harder to improve, especially her 5th octave belts to regain that crystal clear quality she had. Plus she's regaining confidence and that will help a lot.

Blown away by the Walmart shareholders performance. Seriously her tone is the richest and the most buttery since the longest time. She nailed that Vision Of Love run and she no longer has much problem with her whispering. And God them belts are so good and resonant especially the last A4 belt. I can't even wtf and to think it's done in the morning (sorry for fanboying lol).

What's with Mariah's family? (54,278)
by darrian liu from taiwan

I don't really get why Alison, Morgan, and even her mother try to bring her down or like, present her in a bad way to the public. Even if Mariah's not an uber-rich global gigastar (because she's that big), family should support each other. Is there any problem between them? I'm kinda new to the Lambily (2 years now) so I might not really understand.

Bipolar Mariah? (54,276)
by darrian liu from taiwan
| |
|
|
I'm far from being a doctor but I don't think she has signs of being bipolar. But then again, we don't really know what problems does she exactly have behind the camera. She may or may not have experienced psychotic episodes when she's all alone. However, as far as I know, bipolar people can look and act normal as long as they take their antipsychotic medications regularly. I don't really buy into the "bipolar Mariah" though. Don't take the NE seriously lol they're unreliable.

Mariah, the drunk and the addict? (54,269)
by darrian liu from taiwan

No one drunk or high could give good interviews lol. Morgan hasn't seen Mariah personally in years. Even the article on NE says that. That specific line was why the whole article lost its credibility. Chill lol. Mariah couldn't drink or be drugged up and sing that good.
