About MusicfanJ from Germany: I'm a fan of Mariah since Daydream came out.

Re: Billie and Finneas (92,629) (92,633) by MusicfanJ from Germany
The music industry is really down. The Grammys are a joke. I just watchted the winners on TV, most of the winners I didn't know (luckily) but if that strange girl get's all the awards for the "music" oh my. Where have all the great artists gone? Sadly most are truly "gone" or have retired. Adele and Ed Sheeran are gold compared to the winner, the same with Bruno Mars.

Re: RIP Kobe Bryant (92,620) (92,632) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I'm shocked. What a [tragedy]. Basketball is not so popular here, but every [young] one knows Kobe Bryant. And the young girl, it's heartbreaking. Gone to soon.

Re: Mariah (92,466) (92,500) by MusicfanJ from Germany
"Caution is nowhere near the musical or lyrical masterpiece that is Butterfly." That's so true. I love Caution musically, but the lyrics makes me cringe sometimes too. That's oK, it can be fun. But that's the difference. "Butterfly" is on another liga. It's like a poetical music journey. Brilliant.

Re: What if (92,454) (92,461) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Sadly it won't happen. But if I would see that picture I would be so suprised and happy at the same time. Because they would create magic again. Another haunting song for sure.

Re: Babyface (92,434) (92,436) by MusicfanJ from Germany
That would be fantastic. I love Babyface. Mariah and Babyface are a perfect combination. The songs they did together are wonderful.

Re: Celine vs. Mariah (92,420) (92,427) by MusicfanJ from Germany
The same here. Mariah touches me emotional with her voice (no other female singer touches my soul like she can). Mariah's unique voice plus her lyrics are on another level.

Very well written. I have to think about a view points, but I defenitly agree with it. Great post with a nice and true comparing.

Re: Songwriter Hall of Fame (92,375) (92,378) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Wow congrats to the one and only Mariah Carey. She must be so proud. She just wrote something on Instagram/Facebook because of the nomination. By the way she looks so beautiful. I believe it's one of her bigggest achievements as an artist. More than every other award she already has. She deserves it so much. "I believe every after storm, if you look hard enough, a rainbow appears."

Haha great. I can see the whole scene.

Re: The memoir (92,272) (92,277) by MusicfanJ from Germany
As always a pleasure to read your post Bill. I also like "I had a vision of love". That's where it all started and yes I want to know everything about her early years musically too. That's where the magic happened. I would lie If I say I'm not interested in Mariah's private stuff, but as many of you said, I don't believe she's willing to leave La La Land yet. So I want to know about her songs, her early start to stardom and her experiences in New York City.

Re: Yummy vs. One Mo Gen (92,241) (92,244) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Just listened to it. I'm sure for most of the teens it sounds good. But it doesn't. It is so bad, that it could be a parody of a song or something like that. It's a shame that you can make money with that trash music, but I guess that's what today's customers want to hear. No talent, no voice is needed anymore. A mirror of the modern society.

Re: Yummy? (92,242) (92,243) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I'm not surprised. The current "hits" on the charts are so bad. Today I had a post on my timeline with the title "number ones in 99 and 2019". And everybody were talking about how trashy today's songs are. I swear it all sounded the same, no emotion, poor production. It is a torture for the ears. Even not everything was good in 99 (the Bubblegum-Pop) but even those songs are way better than today's garbage on the charts. I'm so happy to have witnessed the good times. 80ies and 90ies were the best, I even prefer the oldies from 60ies and 70ies. For example I googled Bilie Ellish, horrible. I had to quit after 30 seconds listening to it. Luckily we can listen to the good old stuff anytime.

Re: Televised performances (92,219) (92,229) by MusicfanJ from Germany
How I love the "Homecoming Special". She seemed to have so much fun plus she looked stunning and sounded great. The high school kids were also really cool and her old classmate Chuck. I can't tell how often I have watched the special, one of the bests.

Yup, great post. Very long, but it was interesting to read. Everything was on point. Thumbs up.

Re: New album (92,106) (92,123) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Barbra Streisand is an artist. She has an unique voice. Her voice is very special. Even if you don't like her songs or music genre, Barbra is great.

Re: Signature song (91,994) (92,001) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I would say "Hero" too. But AIWFCIY is really close to it. For the younger ones it surely is the Christmas anthem. "Without you" is also still used here in Europe if it comes to Mariah. On my personal list it's "Hero", "Fantasy" and "Vision of love" as her signature song.

Finally number one in Germany (91,988) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Wow I'm more than impresed. So happy that finally Mariah has got to the top even in my country. Mariah is number one and the great George Michael with Wham ist number two. Phenomenel.

What's going on in the UK and the other countries chartwise?

Re: "All I want for Christmas is you" all-star tribute (91,932) (91,953) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Yup, the tribute clip is just awesome. Cindy Lauper and Patti are too cool. I love it. What a nice surprise for Mariah to get that thank you from other celebrities. Merry Christmas everyone.

Re: AIWFCIY hitting #1 (91,893) (91,898) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I had to laugh so hard because of the K-Pop stars. Maxwell would be awesome. I'm also for Mark Ronson. And I still would love a jazz album too. But your're right Special K, for the moment we just should keep celebrating MC's success and more important happy times for her and all the lambs.

Re: Walter A. gets really candid (91,836) (91,859) by MusicfanJ from Germany
The songs he did with Josh Groban are amazing. I always get goosebumbs on "Per te". No matter what we think about Walter personally, he's a genuis producer. He can create and write wonderful songs. Thanks webmaster for the list, it was interesting to read, he has worked with the cream of the cream of the music biz.

Re: New video (91,804) (91,858) by MusicfanJ from Germany
That's the scenes I like the most too. Reminds me a bit of the "Great Gatsby Movie". I prefer the old original video but the new one is nice as well. Her kids can dance.

Re: Is it wrong of me? (91,764) (91,767) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I understand what you mean. I always thought that "Hero" is Mariah's signature song. But now AIWFCIY seems to replace it.

Re: Mariah (19 No 1's) and Rihanna (14 No 1's) (91,756) (91,762) by MusicfanJ from Germany
That is your taste and that's fine. But for my taste Rihanna is not a good singer. Just average. She's pretty and good at entertaining but I don't see her as a real artist (no matter how many number ones she has). I think Alicia Keys is was more talented for exampale.

Re: Mariah (19 No 1's) and Rihanna (14 No 1's) (91,746) (91,751) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Plesse not. I can't stand Rihanna. Her music is nothing special. I would prefer Gaga. Or someone who can sing too. Or at least is likeable.

19th number one on Billboard (91,682) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Wow it's official. Congratulation to the one and only Miss Mariah Carey. Like so many predicted including me. What a great gift after 25th years. Let's celebrate MC.
