Well put Jamie. She hit that balance when she married Nick. I've posted this before, but this is one of my most favourite Mariah interviews. She seemed in such a good place, was relatable, down to earth and friendly, funny, engaged, looked great and just seemed very self assured but also unassuming. Exactly where a singer of her accolades should be.

Funny, I was on my way to share this as well. All we had previously was a tiny snippet of MC and the backing singers on the stairwell from The First Vision video, so hearing this, with those gorgeous whistles and the agile and full-bodied 1990 vocals, is such a joy. CBPCH 2021 version is sung by a completely different person it seems, doesn't it?

In comparison though, the Grammy performance is incredible to this mess. We all criticised it at the time but "I'd give my all" to have her sounding like that again.

I agree this is one of her best club mixes, but it was a collaboration with David Morales, not C&C. ❤️

Yep. Everything on the original Merry Christmas album is untouchable. The re-recordings of AIWFCIY, the "live" version of O Holy Night, the hip hop Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town, the new CBPCH all pale by comparison. It's like that dreadful re-recording of Hero she did in support of The Ballads album. What was she thinking? Leave the past in the past and move forward.

I meant from a publicity/popularity standpoint. Daydream was Mariah's popularity and some would say, vocal peak. All I was saying was let her ride the crest of that wave because, as we all know, nothing lasts forever.

I streamed the album this morning and it's not terrible. In fact, I was quite surprised there were some songs with a bit of "oomf" to them, as usually it's all dreary rehashes of Someone Like You (Adele's We Belong Together). Her voice was a bit much towards the end though. The good thing about MC is her voice has so many facets her records are never uninteresting. No one can make an album with Petals and Bliss and Can't Take That Away and Heartbreaker. Just that one album has so many vocal styles and different vibes going on with it.

If Where Are You Christmas was put out with 1994 vocals the issue is, it would totally outshine Fall In Love at Christmas. Here's hoping for Rarities II in 2022 to include that, Lose Control from the debut and her demo tape.

Adele's in her Daydream era now. I'm like, let her have it. Mariah doesn't really need to have an aggressive campaign like Adele's album roll out in my view.

Tommy's been married to Thalia now for over 20 years and is in his 70s. He's not going to actively try to sabotage Mariah.

I'd be happy with either really. I do agree with you that the gospel album ship might have sailed back when it was more effortless vocally for her, and yes, she has always been perfect for a jazz album. The Wind still remains one of her greatest recordings in my view.

I'd love a gospel album from MC. Even if it was 50% new songs and 50% existing songs I'd be happy (My Saving Grace, Fly Like a Bird, I Wish You Well, Heavenly). Imagine if she re-worked Sent from Up Above WBT Valentine's style. Would be a great project.

I do love their four outings together. Never Forget You, Melt Away, Every Time I Close My Eyes and When You Believe are all gorgeous songs. My only issue with Babyface is that his production is a bit "samey". It is worth noting though that Mariah self-produced Melt Away so it doesn't seem as though he was involved in it enough to be considered controlling.

They're there for pre-order (released December 7th). For those that don't have the DVDs, they are £5 each. The First Vision is £9 and Tokyo Dome is £11. So glad TFV is being released as the DVD from Japan is far too expensive. Plus I doubt this will have the Japanese sub titles throughout the interview with MC either.

That's great news as I always suspected TFV was never put out on DVD outside of Japan because of her hatred for all the videos. Glad she's got over that now, as I love all of them. Especially Someday.
Also Jamie where did you get this news from as I tried to find it but couldn't?

I don't think it's going to dethrone AIWFCIY, or Oh Santa for that matter lol. I must say though, Mariah looks absolutely incredible in the video. Ageless beauty that she is.

Where she smashed the pumpkin? Very good. Really hoping 2022 delivers The Rarities 2. I found out that the Penny Ford track "I Lose Control" was written by Mariah and Narada Michael Walden for the debut. Narada appaz found the master tape where it was recorded, but MC didn't want it on the debut. I've been listening to Penny's version non-stop imaging those lush 1990 vocals performing it and I'm so desperate to hear it.

Possibly. Appaz her new Christmas single is out (or announced, not sure which) on the 4th November. I've read it has a choir at the end and very "90s Mariah" sounding. So let's see how that all pans out.

Oh what great news, so glad it is back. Elated to see Joy to the World get its EP release, and finally I have the Crash Dub Crash digitally. Also, great that she included the video version as that has some different ad libs to the regular Celebration Mix. I might have to bring back my remix EP series and bore you all to tears again lol. But wait maybe I do that anyway.
