Brazil concert (107,407)

Wow. I never knew about the Brazilian soap opera. I don't care what anyone says, no other female can sing a pop ballad like MC. I miss her singing pop ballads. She could sell easily 2 million albums in 2025 if MC16 had 7-10 pop ballads even with her current vocals. I would love for MC to cover Daryl Hall's Every Time You Go Away with a huge choir moment ft. an all male chorus.

Brazil concert (107,404)
by Carlos from Brazil

The song was definitely fueled by a soap opera that was quite popular at the time called "Viver a Vida". The song was the theme for the character called Luciana who got on to live on a wheelchair after an accident. Her story is quite dramatic and she has a romantic relationship that was very beautiful and the song played on almost every scene she was. That is the main reason. The second is that Mariah is really loved here for those arena ballads. There are many older fans and older people in general here that really prefers her singing "Without You", "Hero" and I guess IWKWLI was a return for her ballader days and a less R&B/urban sound.

I just saw on KCs insta, she was doing a quick interview on her walk to set. She mentioned that she's excited about some music stuff she's been working on, to which the interviewer asked "Can we get any teasers?" Kelly replied "Ummm. She might like Christmas." Imagine if KC and MC teamed up. That would be incredible.

I am glad that you enjoyed yourself. You know she had to give a special surprise at the end and sing her signature song there. I often wonder why IWTKWLI resonated so with the citizens of Brazil back in 2009-2010. Carlos, do you know why? It had 27 weeks at number #1. It will probably always be the biggest song of her career in Brazil.

It was absolutly a surreal experience. I felt like I was leaving my body. I've been a fan for 20 years so to see her in person was a life changing moment. I felt like she was like really real. Her voice is so pretty, her songwriting is awesome and she is one of the prettiest women ever. The Brazilian outfit and the butterfly dress is now iconic. I went to the São Paulo concert and it was as amazing as the Rock in Rio show, even better. Her Portuguese is cute. She came back for the IWKWLI without her shoes haha. 50k people singing with her. It was the happiest day of my life.

MC really has never had an opening act on her tours, but Trey Lorenz when he opened for MC in support of his album Mr. Mista. Mary J. Bilge likes to headline tours with other R&B male artists to draw a huge head count and for the nostaglia of 90's R&B music.

Mary J. Blige just announced a new tour and Mario and Neyo are opening for her. I wonder why MC doesn't tour with an opening act (other than an dj) especially since her shows are often short in duration in comparison to artists. Would [you] like to see her tour with an opening act or just MC? If so, who would [you] recommend? Ashanti? Joe? Brandy?

Rose City Works (107,384)

MC has linked a distribution deal with Rose City Works to sell the Merry Christmas 30th anniversary merchandise. MC has really out done herself this time with the MC30 anniversary celebration. There are 8 new vinyl, CD, and cassette Merry Christmas items available to order at: www.Mariahcarey.rosecityworks.com.
I am sure the industry's wholesaler leader, Alliance Entertainment, will be allowed to sell some items to our local record shops after they sell out on the Rose City Works website. I am just hoping since I want in my hands one of the 3,000 copies produced Original Master Recording Ultra One-Step vinyl record.

Mariah not socialising with the industry (107,376)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

That is actually not true, there are many photos of Mariah with Diddy post the 90s. Especially around TEOM era they were photographed together a lot including him being on stage with her at one of the TAOM shows. She had also shared in The Meaning of Mariah how Tommy had racist comments about Diddy when Diddy was new and how she defended his artistry when she was asked about it during some kind of gathering. All this doesn't mean she knew what he did and turned a blind eye, she very well could have had a very different experience with him where he wouldn't dare mess with her during the 90s due to Tommy and him being new and after that she was a bigger star than him. So it could be due to her having a different sort of experience with him she didn't know but it's not true that she cut him off after the 90s. A quick Google search will show many photos.

Her team really put in the work this year, leading with getting her on the Eras tour which got the Swifties behind her. Right before that her 2 songs Nonsense and Feathers were somewhat popular. The Taylor endorsement helped. But she also put out some really catchy, easy to digest pop songs which had throwback good old pop days vibes and almost each song had those viral lyrics like "Espresso" with "I'm working late cause I'm a singer", then "please please please" with "I beg you don't embarrass me MF" which led to so many tiktok reels, and all her videos had very fun replay value. She also has her signature bombshell look down. She basically owned this year haha. I honestly only knew her in passing before she started on the Eras tour.

Sabrina Carpenter Christmas (107,367)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|

Did you guys see the little teaser video Netflix posted about Sabrina's Christmas special? The video starts from her foot and she's dressed in a Mrs. Claus type outfit, and the camera pans upwards and reveals her face and she says, "Expecting someone else?" Kinda feels like she meant if we were expecting Mariah. And then under a comment about someone saying something about Mariah, Netflix replied with "imagine if they collaborate". Do you guys think Mariah may make a cameo? It'd be fun. Sabrina is fun and quirky and she basically owned this year with back to back bangers. Her song Nonsense reminds me a lot of Ariana-Mariah airy vocals love songs.

Industry problems vs. waning radio airplay (107,362)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
MC is in the same club as other R&B artists like Brandy, Eric Benet, Trey Songz, Keyshia Cole, Monica, Toni Braxton, and Robin Thicke. They all have not released an album since their last albums were not huge sellers and with waning radio airplay. So is it a music industry problem for older R&B artists or radio programmers just don't cater to older R&B artists anymore? All eight artists could release an album today and it would be better than what Urban AC radio is playing on the radio today by these new young artists.

Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel has to be MC's best album title for being creative and making the music buyer want to listen to the album's 17 tracks. The album cover is just gorgeous. Also, too bad Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis didn't have tracks 18-20 on the album. Their addition would have definitely increased sales and airplay.

Anyone who has lost a family member knows the different feelings you can experience. While I miss my dad immensely I can't help but feel peace he's free from all the mental and physical illnesses he dealt with on Earth. Maybe in some ways this will free MC from that strain she often felt with her mom and sister. I hope she finds that peace one day.

That's right Libra. I forgot about that. MC kept us waiting a long time as I remember now. They started playing R&B songs and everybody was just waiting or leaving their seats getting drinks. Then 30 minutes later the band started playing the opening song and MC's voice came on and then it was on. It has always been my best concert ever. The show was suppose to start at 7pm . I We didn't leave until a little before 10pm I think. You won't experience a great R&B concert unless it is in Atlanta. Sometimes I miss living there because of just being able to experience all of the artists who always have a stop in Atlanta.

That is the only tour that I have experienced. It was in Atlanta and her vocals were on point. There were no backing tracks. The crowd went crazy with every song.
