Re: I Don't (94,136) (94,137) by Tijl from Belgium
Exactly my thoughts. The song has a great vibe to it and wouldn't have been out of place on "Caution". The video killed it for me.

Slant Magazine article (94,115) by Tijl from Belgium
In honour of the VOL anniversary, Slant Magazine ranked all of MC's albums. Fun read yet debatable.

30th anniversary (94,099) by Tijl from Belgium
Exactly today, 30 years ago a young girl released a nice little effort and the rest is history. Congratulations VOL.

Re: Loverboy Firecracker (94,044) (94,050) by Tijl from Belgium
The entire composition falls into place and becomes a much better song. Could have been a #1.

You can have both. It is your funeral.

"You're Mine" without the rap. Could have used a better video though.

Best legs in the business, next to Tina Turner.

This showed up on Buzzfeed. Thought I might just as well share it with you guys.

Re: What if Mariah never married Tommy in 1993 (93,706) (93,711) by Tijl from Belgium
"However, I also don't think it necessary for people to keep attacking you. You're obviously not a mean person, even if sounding a bit spiteful, here. I think perhaps the lockdown is getting to everyone. (Yea, Andrew from the UK is calling you mean-spirited: your blood must be boiling right now.)"

As a matter of fact, the only person attacking me is you Andrew. And you seem to enjoy it as well. You are a bully which can be excused from a little child but coming from an adult it is considered toxic behaviour.

Re: What if Mariah never married Tommy in 1993 (93,695) (93,698) by Tijl from Belgium
Perhaps the fact that so few posts get reactions on here is because anytime a member makes a PERSONAL statement or shares a PERSONAL (webmaster, please allow for capitals to emphasize the matter) point of view, others seem to feel the need to start a polemic as to make sure all others accept their PERSONAL opinion as the absolute truth. This is a message board, a place of leisure and entertainment. It is not that important. I hoped at least of lately with the current global situation that people would be able to understand what really matters in life. All the best to you all and take care.

Of course it is everybody's opinion but it will not change what happened. Love you too.

Re: What if Mariah never married Tommy in 1993 (93,686) (93,690) by Tijl from Belgium
'"Butterfly" would have never come into fruition if Mariah hadn't married and divorced Tommy. In any case, a "what if" hypothesis is a tiresome and redundant exercise. As Carrie Fisher once said: "Take your pain and turn it into art."

Re: Odyssey of Sound (93,679) (93,683) by Tijl from Belgium
Trying to understand Belgium politics is impossible. It is something most Belgians are terribly ashamed of so we decided to invent great food and beers and to live as "gourmands" to ease the pain.

You are cracking me up. Number 4 should be our national anthem.

Honestly, "Odyssey of Sound"? Mariah is not going to deliver an album with rave music.

Re: What songs have you been listening to? (93,656) (93,662) by Tijl from Belgium
The My All/Stay Awhile remix on repeat. It is very sensuous yet a tad melancholic. Goes well with the summer vibes of the last days.

Re: Favorite non-successful song (93,556) (93,560) by Tijl from Belgium
Didn't Mariah already receive the backlash from Columbia/Tommy Mottola at the time? I remember that in Belgium only "Honey" and "My All" being promoted yet performing well. The other singles I discovered via MTV, which was the UK version for our region. I remember very well the interview special with Tabitha on the yacht and the party with P. Daddy.

Re: Favourite non successful song (93,524) (93,527) by Tijl from Belgium
I loooooove "Almost Home". Especially this part:
"When you run, run so far
You've forgotten who you are
Where you're from, it's like some other universe
You count your steps, like they're regrets
You catch one breath then lose the rest
Wrong is right, right is left
And there's nowhere left to turn."

Re: NHS choir - Anytime You Need A Friend (93,519) (93,526) by Tijl from Belgium
Hello Andrew, thank you for that post. We are living a nightmare but unfortunately there is no waking up to get rid off the boogeyman.

I was very impressed with the Queen's speech especially those poignant and hopeful words: "We will meet again."

As you do and I believe most on this board will have, I find solace in Mariah's work. Yesterday evening I watched Glitter again after a long time and I actually enjoyed it thoroughly.

Such strange days and weeks. I have never felt so sad and down as of lately yet I have never laughed so much either. Life is very funny that way and perhaps this terrible pandemic was brought upon us so we could rediscover the true meaning of our short time on this planet.

Re: Article: Mariah Carey delivers intimate "Always By My Baby" (93,452) (93,457) by Tijl from Belgium
Might it be because of the time slot they were given? All performances were rather short.

Re: iHeart Living Room concert (93,447) (93,449) by Tijl from Belgium
I am sorry but I find Billie very overrated and her voice doesn't do anything to me. These performances show that once all the smoke and mirrors drop many of them really are studio artists. Alicia was okay but I only heard musicality in Mariah's performance.

iHeart Living Room concert (93,438) by Tijl from Belgium
Veni, vidi, vici. It was the best performance of the entire broadcast but in all honestly the others really sucked.
