About Tijl from Belgium: Enchanted by Mariah ever since 'Butterfly' dem Gucci heels in the pool!!!

It’s tiiiime... to let the children know (110,576) by Tijl from Belgium
Regarding Mariah's bipolar condition, I have the utmost respect and understanding the burden this must be on her. Her life has not been a fairytale and she is a genuine fighter. That is exactly why I adore and love her. Her sensibility and wrought sensitivity is what makes her the eloquent and fantastic songwriter. I would love to be able to write down the effect as an inspiring personality she has had on me but is almost impossible. But let me try. A long time ago, I was waiting in a lounge - you know those intimidating posh hotel lobbies - for a job interview that was quite important for the future of my career. I was nervous, anxious, fiddling. Suddenly on the sound system there she was: "Hero" - which is not even my favourite song of hers - filling the room and covering me with a blanket of warmth and believe. Immediately I felt at ease and I finished one hell of an interview. I have so many of these moments where she is there, this guardian angel telling me "It is going to be okay." That is Mariah to me in a nutshell, always and everywhere. I bet many of us on here have had moments just as those. I am just worried about her as she does not seem to be in a good state of mind. I get Russian general vibes (remember that ghastly Stella era?). Wishing her all she deserves: a new number 1, success, love and peace. Just worried although I never met her she is in my heart and I hope to tell her one day the impact she had/has on my life.

"Mirage" (110,544) by Tijl from Belgium
Ever since the announcement of album #16 and fresh new music I was full of excitement and anticipation. Finally a new era. This has slowly turned into apprehension with every misstep of the new album's roll out. TD was okay-ish, SS is just lackluster. So far for the songs.

With every performance and interview Mariah has done there is a decline in energy. I watch with disbelief and I am worried. What is going on? In the most recent interviews she looks stiff and uncomfortable with very little more than tangents and/or gibberish uttered. Mariah used to talk passionately about her work especially when launching new material into the world. All I see now is a pale shadow of that woman. Almost as if she is not there, not feeling it, not caring one bit.

The performances are not much better. Yes, she never was a dancer and doesn't need to be but of lately she just kind of stands there with more focus on the monitors (checking which bit to lipsync) than making some interaction with her audience.

It fills me with sadness as I love this woman to the moon and back and her music has had a profound meaning in my life for over 20 years.

I do not care for the devolution: Mariah - Mimi - Mirage

Much anticipation yet... I do not feel it. It's a cute song but with little to none personality. Sorry, but as far in the traject of HFIA I perceive it as underwhelming.

MC vs MC (109,573) by Tijl from Belgium
Frankly, the current pop culture is built on '90s throwbacks; fashion, music, cinema.
TD: reflection on an entire life and career yet to self indulgent for the general public. Do not get me wrong, I truly enjoy the Mimi "misms" and easter eggs although I doubt the general public agrees.
IAEGYEL: from a PR point of view, a true chorus, endorsement and links to a major French fashion house and Naomi's support.
Anyway, we'll see what Mariah's next single brings the table.

MC vs MC (109,547) by Tijl from Belgium
Miley Cyrus just released het latest little effort: "Every Girl You've Ever Loved". And truly, this is the type of song Mariah should release if she wishes to skyrocket back to the top of the charts. Fresh, relevant, contemporary and relatable. Not to mention this video has a proper star in a cameo role. "Dangerous Type" [sic] is on my daily playlist as I am a loyal fan. Miley's song got me instantly. Quite the difference.

The Seamus Haji & Paul Emanuel Club Remix for "Touch My Body" is a banger. Check it out.

It is a fun tune with a particularly sharp message. Love it. Should have promoted better. I loved the video as well.

Re: Mariah: The Diva, The Drama (97,435) (97,448) by Tijl from Belgium
It was available on YouTube for a short while. It holds many inaccuracies and it is highly dramatised. That famous impersonator, Jessica something, plays MC. She does resemble Mariah, especially from certain angles but all in all it is a silly piece of tabloid journalism.

Re: Favorite Mariah album? (97,318) (97,327) by Tijl from Belgium
"Butterfly" will always be precious to me as during that era I really became enamored with Mariah. I really liked "Memoirs" when it was released and listened to it non-stop. After all these years my favourites interchange depending on my mood. As music is profoundly intertwined with memories and strong emotions, good or bad. Perhaps that is why, despite really enjoying "Caution" as an album, I hardly listen to it nowadays. It is just too hard to relive that time in my life.

Re: MC16 (97,100) (97,103) by Tijl from Belgium
A duet with Barbra Streisand would be nice. As long as it isn't shmaltzy as the one with Céline but in the style of the "Guilty" album.

Re: Cosmetic surgery (97,073) (97,077) by Tijl from Belgium
Definitely cheeck implants. Her face is now heartshaped whereas before it was more elongated. Botox, fillers and I guess a subtle nose job. The rest is makeup trickery.

Best wishes (97,061) by Tijl from Belgium
2020 was a difficult year, if not insanely crazy. At least for us lambs there was a silver lining with plenty of goods from Mimi. I wish everybody a festive transition into the New Year, which will hopefully be less chalenging.

Re: Oh Santa 2020 (96,791) (96,807) by Tijl from Belgium
After watching the video about ten times I am still not feeling it. Something is just... off. The original version was more powerful and catchy. This version is weak if not redundant. I understand the concept with the two others from a business point of view but that is all. And Mariah, you have worn some bad ensembles in the past but really, this concoction makes no sense whatsoever. Why didn't she stick with a nice evening gown in the same shade of green? It cheapens the effect of her being the queen of Christmas with her two elves. Sorry, sorry, sorry... no. A serious anticlimax after the build-up towards the launch of this remix. I do am glad a younger demograph seems to enjoy it so MC will garner some new fans. And what is happening with Jennifer's nails? Serious Wicked Witch vibes there.

"Wise Girls" was underrated. It is a rather enjoyable flick. But I believe the role of Rachel was the closest to the "true" Mariah she has ever portrayed.

When exactly did Mariah state that the success of "Precious" is linked to her performance? That never happened.

I follow you on every point (to define Mariah's acting as wooden would be unkind to trees) but one: Marilyn Monroe was a bloody good actress. For those who haven't seen it, check out "The Prince and The Showgirl". She is magical. Even Sir Laurence Olivier said she was the best.
