That's why I wasn't able to watch the "show" back then. I tried but after a few minutes I had to quit because it felt strange and not worthy to watch. What you described sounds indeed terrible. That was really a bad dark time. I think Nick Cannon was the reason everything went down. After him she was never the same. And Stella was the final straw. What a nightmare. During Charmbracelet Mariah seemed down-to earth again, still struggling and healing but on a good way. I hope she takes care of herself and stays away from the wrong people. At a certain age one should become wiser and never interact with trash people again. I really hope Mariah has one or two people who are normal and are not on the payroll and care for her. All you have to do is watch the "Mariah's World" series to see a glimpse of the erratic behavior and substance use - she and others were on camera with cannabis use, which is known to exacerbate existing psychiatric disorders. She had staff members taking semi-nude and nude photographs of her to send to Bryan Tanaka... while she was still engaged to James Packer. Mariah was an absolute mess during that period. MTV Unplugged (113,424) by MusicfanJ from Germany It's indeed a very interesting thought. "Just focused on creating soulful, genuine and sincere music." Less concerts, smaller venues, less fame, but still enough to live a wealthy life, but more relaxed and maybe the voice would still be there. Of course we will never know. Yes, she conquered the world. But the costs were high for it. But I think she wanted to be the ultimate global superstar, because of her early experiences. So she gave everything and beyond. The MTV Unplugged is music history. She was so good and showed everyone that she's a true artist, with a voice "out of this world". I also think she looked real confident. She knew she was unstoppable. Her little shyness here and there makes it even more adorable. I always loved the combination of being so sweet but at the same time confident and smart. Her voice is magical, and I think the arrangements and vocals for If It's Over, Someday and Make It Happen are better than the album versions, as great as they are. And then of course, I'll Be There. It's like the whole set was a crescendo to that fantastic moment-making performance. And I have wondered the same as you. I look at someone like Barbra Streisand, who I think as a rule doesn't do concerts. Just one off performances every so often. I get envious that, had Mariah adopted that approach, where would she be now vocally? Had she not married Tommy and instead just focused on creating soulful, genuine and sincere music, where would she be? Tommy wanted a Whitney for his label, Mariah felt that "by your side, I can conquer the world"; and conquer it she did. But at what cost? (Wednesday 18 March 2026; 00:09)

(I always felt sad with MJ, because he was such a good looking man who changed too much with the optics. But his talent never left and was always there.) Plus we realize that when stars are getting older, that our time flies by too. That's why I'm happy if some of "my stars" are still around even if the golden days are over. Beyonce is still young but even her voice doesn't exactly sound like Dangerously In Love Beyonce, it's so much deeper now. Second as they age they get closer to death which sucks. In my opinion 2009 Mariah would blow most of today's singers out of the water. Beyonce is the only singer who I can think of that posed a threat to Mariah vocally especially after 2013. I have a love hate relationship with Beyonce but there's no doubt she's really that girl when it comes to vocals and sheer power. Her Super Bowl Halftime show showed that and impressed me a lot. With that being said Mariah still holds the title for best female voice and nobody will ever top her. I'm glad she's still here but I don't want to get any older. (Monday 16 March 2026; 06:14)

"Frozen" was huge back then, it's my favourite. "Hung up" was fun too. But I don't think it's sad that the legends are getting old. It's sad, if they die young, like Heath Ledger, Amy, the "Club 27". It's cool that Cher and Madonna are still here and doing their thing. Or look at Ringo Starr and Tom Jones. They are still "cool guys". As long as an "oldie" is fit and healthy, it's not sad at all. And to age naturally [doesn't] take away the charisma. I love Helen Mirren and Andie McDowell for the natural lifestyle. Mrs. Presley is spooky for me, I don't like "masks". That's a bit sad, if someone can't age. An old Robert Redford had still more charisma than all the youngsters. I miss him and his wonderful talent as an actor. I know it's kind of explicit but who gives a damn Mariah is no angel and she's had some saucy lyrics herself. I love this song mainly because of the music it's very addictive and so 90's. Erotica was ahead of its time and Madonna is definitely a legend. I also miss her youthful appearance. She was very beautiful during the early 90's especially during the Bedtime Stories era. I don't know the answer but I would say jazz, blues and retro soul suits better than hip-hop or modern RnB songs for a legend like Mariah nowadays. She is not cool and she can't vibe with the beat. It's a great cool song, and if it's released by Ariana or Taylor, it would be a hit. The hype was there until she performed it on BET Awards, and the public saw that she can barely walk, and so the song tanked. It's a performance song, and she needs help to walk. There is a disconnect between her and what lambs want her to do. If she wants to release a modern song like Type Dangerous, maybe it's better if they release a really great video and then hide her from the public. It's the same situation with Sugar Sweet. If that song is released by someone else, it would be a hit because it's a great song. But the supposed video of it, it's the same touching her hair and hips moves. Well I have no words how bad it is. How do you craft a great song and throw it away like that is the current state of Mariah's career. So Mariah 2026 problem is not the song, and not even her voice. The problem is her, she doesn't know how to perform these types of songs anymore. She cannot be directed, not choreographed. I think it's time Mariah and lambs accept the fact that she should only release songs that matches her current personality and her performance level. It's sad when lambs post here that they listen to AI Mariah. They are imagining a Mariah of the good old days on her current songs which is some mental acrobatics. That's just how bad her situation is, and just a bad way to listen to music in general. They'd rather listen to Mariah sounding like a chipmunk (frankly that's how AI sounds to me in general), that is not her, than accept her current state. Equally sadder is suggesting a nodules operations, another lamb fanfic that will somehow turn back the clock. For me My Love is her current state. It does not fit on the radio nor the streaming hits right now, but its authentic to her current voice and personality. And I'm sure she can at least perform that kind of song live. Think 70s Carpenters, understated, standard, mature, dare I say: basic. That's her in 2026 and the next few years. She's not a popstar anymore nor a vocal diva anymore and the first step is accepting it. Also, to add: everyone was excited about Nothing Is Impossible, then all the excitement went away after she performed it at the Olympics. Her performance almost always backfires on her own songs. That's what happened with #Beautiful, and that's the state of her new songs over the past 15 years if you think about it. At least on her non-Christmas songs. Many Lambs say the Bruno Mars, Sza, Toni Braxton, and Fred Again collaborations are their favorites. 6. MC embarks on a 30-city summer/fall tour in the U.S. The first show is at Proctors Theater. The last show is at Madison Square Garden. 7. The second single is a Pop R&B ballad collaboration with Walter A. and Babyface that is reminisce of Love Takes Time and Everytime I Close my Eyes. 8. Typically, I listen to her latest album almost every day for the next six months to a year after purchasing it. However, I realized that it's only been five months since HFIA was released, and I haven't played it much in the past month or this month. Don't get me wrong. I like HFIA, but I guess I love playing her 90s' album more lately. In fact, I've been playing "Breakdown" more than any of her other songs. Whitney Houston is really a sad example with many others, how a beautiful, extremely talented human has "everything" and throws it away because of drugs. I just want to see Mariah happy and healthy again. But I fear, she's too lonely. And no diamond is a good friend in real life. MM was a diva, sex symbol, most famous woman on earth (besides with the queen, same age haha), plus she had the hardest childhood and was such a beautiful, unhappy woman. I don't want to see Mariah so unhappy in the future. Mariah was always a diva, but it has become a bit too much. I mean the image. It has become hard to see/recognize Mariah the person, the singer behind that big image. I guess it's a shield. But I often miss the natural, carefree Mariah. And it's true, elegance ages everyone. If you want to look younger or youthful, take casual clothes. Everyone looks older with extravaganza and jewelry. It's normal. Non-fans always say the word diva when it comes to Mariah. Personally, I don't like that this is the first thought they have about her. She is so much more and it makes me sad, that it seems only fans/lambs know and remember it. This doll-like image seems to have taken over. I think this is how she wants to be remembered in the future. We all have that one image that comes to mind of famous figures like Marilyn Monroe. I think Mariah has been trying to curate a mind picture that we associate with her when people say "Mariah Carey". To be honest, it is clever as the only image I have of Whitney is her being a sweaty mess on stage. I have always thought that the flat hair on top really does Mariah no favours especially when paired with the extra long extensions; it really does age her. I would be interested to know what picture comes to your mind's eye when people say "Mariah Carey" and I wonder how different it would be to the casual listener's mental image. Also as most of new artists I don't think she's a vocal powerhouse, but she delivers. Which brings me to my next point: look at her Grammy performance, she's no dancer but she does move, her stylist is always on point, she has that "makes you smile" energy when performing and THAT was Mariah needs. Her voice might not be here anymore but there's a 1000 other ways to compensate other than bling bling accessories and designers custom gowns you're too afraid to break when moving. (I noticed it with Laura Pausini too.) It was wonderful to see Mariah on prime time TV live in Milano. I hope she can enjoy beautiful Italy and stay maybe for one or two days before flying back. Italy is always good for a trip: the food, the friendly people, the culture, the magical landscape. I had so many beautiful holidays there. (Saturday 7 February 2026; 10:28)
