You should check out Mariah’s Schenectady show, too. And the South Kensington one was a ripper.

Article: Mariah makes a strong case for rocking winter whites (104,613) by Andrew from the UK
A fashionista I am not. I'll bow to your knowledge on the matter. But you see my point? Ballgowns age her. Mariah is getting a figure back now. She should up her fashion game.

How a person can, simultaneously, be so right and so wrong.

If you read any polls and political commentary that isn't Far Left you would understand that Trump is far and wide likely to become the Republican nominee in 2024 and 47 in 2025, if Biden is his opponent. But the answer is Trump. Well done.

And you got the concert right. But the name wrong. Again. The concert is known as St. John the Divine. Is "Harlem" the new "fetch", I wonder? It ain't gonna happen.

Sorry you go home empty handed. But have you had a nice day out?

*This* is a look she should have on stage, not ballgowns and leotards.

I'm not sure what is more impressive here: Mariah's fierce look, or Biden managing to stay on his feet.

Will Mariah meet with President Trump when he returns to the White House next in 2025, do you think? It would only be polite. After all, he did sit in the audience at one time of her most famous performances.

Anyone know which performance it was or care to venture a guess? (Randy and Eddie, you can't take part.)

Happy Birthday, Randy (104,601) by Andrew from the UK
Everyone wish Randy a Happy Birthday. It's his 32nd, would you believe? That's right. It's his 32nd anniversary of when he was 12. Happy Birthday, Randy.

Numbers (104,593) by Andrew from the UK
Mariah has now spent a total of 92 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100, and there have been a total of 1753 weeks since "Vision of Love" was released on May 15 1990. In total, Mariah has spent 5.25% of her professional recording career at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100. On average, for every 19 days that has passed since May 15 1990, Mariah Carey was at No.1 for 1 of them. That's genuinely incredible.

All I want for Christmas is truth (104,591) by Andrew from the UK
YouTube: "It's the first Christmas song that I wrote."

Wikipedia: "By early August, Carey already had two original songs written alongside Afanasieff including the 'sad and ballad-y' 'Miss You Most (At Christmas Time)' and the 'Gospel-tinged and religious' 'Jesus Born on This Day'. The third and final original song the pair planned to write was to be centered and inspired and in the vein of a 'Phil Spector, old rock 'n roll, sixties-sounding Christmas song'."

So, which is it?

It's not the first time I have heard Mariah claim AIWFCIY to be the first Christmas song she ever wrote - but I have read/heard on several occasions over the years that the other originals came first. Alas, there are seemingly a lot of dubious truths surrounding this song on Mariah's part.

On the balance of probabilities, I cannot help but find Mariah's claims that she wrote this song on a Casio keyboard and took it to Walter oven-ready, less likely than Walter's rather more detailed and nuanced explanation that the two of them developed it together, passing it back and forth.

Obsessed in the UK (104,573) by Andrew from the UK
I can't fully appreciate how and why Obsessed tanked so badly here. The song was liked far and wide, the video was constantly appearing on television for obvious reasons, and whenever I heard or hear it, people sing along with the chorus for they know it and like it. It's baffling. Any ideas?

Dearest Matty, I assure you that in my analyses of your comments the words I use are chosen with an equal amount of thoughtfulness, and as much kindness as I can muster in order to get my comments past Eric.

Wow. If it wasn't written in black and white I would never have believed this photo to be from 2023. Mariah looks stunning here.

Mariah Carey in the UK (104,559) by Andrew from the UK
Having taken off with I'll Be There, not until the Memoirs era did Mariah drop from being a pretty steady Top 10 artist. There were certainly some blips along the way, most notably releasing Butterfly as a single but Mariah for many many years was a mainstream radio listed artist. However, I'd agree that she became the source of much derision after she took her clothes off in 1997. Nobody wanted it from her. This emerging vanity aspect of her personality was quite off-putting to British people. The Heartbreaker Remix and Loverboy videos did maximum damage to her profile as did the expanding breasts which started ignoring each other sometime around 1998 into 1999.

It does all strike me as possibly a little bit unfair. Women - and girls, even - were treated very differently back then, such were the times that they would often be asked about their breasts in interviews. There is a video on YouTube of it happening to Britney when she was about 17 years old and it is uncomfortable viewing.

But with Mariah I believe she was very respected as a top-tier vocalist and she was, at the very essence of her being, a solid-bet of a hitmaker - the "Songbird Supreme", no less. That she had achieved this through sheer talent won her many fans who became confused at her need to add sex and sexuality to her career. It smacked of desperation and she was somewhat "slut-shamed".

I cannot help but often wonder what Mariah's career would be like if it was taking off in this day and age. Almost certainly she would not have endured the ridicule for having a mental health crisis but, rather, I would hope she would be, or have been, treated a lot more sympathetically.

Regardless of whataboutery, the success of her singles and her popularity whenever she visited the UK cannot be diminished and it serves to emphasise that if she has the right material and promotion she will be successful. Unfortunately, in terms of both, she has had neither for well over a decade now. The Sweet Sweet Fantasy tour needs to hit the road again.

N.b. Sorry for the essay, J-L, but I do suffer from insomnia. I gotta get me some sleep. Also, check out the chart-placing of "Obsessed", I don't recall it underperforming like that.

Another close call (104,549) by Andrew from the UK
Agreed: RATCT is ghastly. Also agreed: "Christmas Time Is In The Air Again" should be given a lot more focus in the lead up to Christmas next year. It's a song that Mariah can probably reproduce live still but, moreover, it's actually a beautiful, exquisite song and arguably should be more successful than it is. There's nothing around quite like it.

MC, Ariana and JHud (104,548) by Andrew from the UK
You are a laughable misleader of gargantuan proportion. I don't object to you believing whatever it is you need to believe to maintain a level of comfort in your mind - it is your life and if you are so fragile then do whatever is you need to do to live your best. But rational people will and must object when you and your ilk try to paint the false narrative true in other people's minds in order for your own suspension of disbelief to be maintained.

That you give that performance a 6, also, smacks of disingenuousness. Either that, or you're just lost irredeemably inside delusion and/or galactically stupid and/or have absolutely no knowledge of the details of Mariah Carey's live performance history.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the worst Mariah has ever performed and 10 being the best, where are you placing the performance?

This is just conjecture, but if Mariah focused on J-Hud it may have resulted quickly in her being challenged to "bring it". Concentrating on Ariana was a very safe bet.

Best part: Mariah not looking at J-Hud because that would aim her "bad side" at the audience/camera so basically ignoring her through the whole performance and concentrating on Ariana. Second best part: having to read her own lyrics off of the floor. Mariah has serious issues.

Why do you "have to ask" people's sexual orientation? What purpose does it serve?

Mariah is clearly lip-syncing 90% of the show. Sometimes she just clear gives up the pretence and lets the pre-record play.

I will say this, also: Mariah is possibly on some serious medication for, even during the J-Hud and Ariana performance, she's having to read the auto-cue or cue-cards by the monitors. Seriously worrying. The performance is clunky.
