About RadChad from United States: Mariah is my favorite singer of all time.

Remakes (39,261) by RadChad from United States
Wow Licia, really? You really think Mariah can't touch the original to most of her remakes? Now I will admit Prince still owns The Beautiful Ones, I think MC did a nice job especially with the climax, but over all I think she held back a bit whereas Prince laid it all on the table. And maybe even Bringing On The Heartbreak (even though I've grown to love it) is own by the original. My other least favorite remake was... wait for it... I Still Believe (but I love the Pure Imagination version). However, Mariah owns "I'll Be There" and "Without You". "Open Arms", IWKWLI and "Against All Odds" are all a draw I would say with a slight preference toward MC. "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" is another one she owns. I would say nine times out of ten Mariah's vocals gives the song a new life (or life in general), which makes her remakes as a whole fresh and another classic rendition.

The people's champ: MC vs the industry (39,202) by RadChad from United States
If Mariah's fans multiple purchases of TGIFY made her number one, than where the hell are they now? For real though, I've always credited TGIFY making it to the top due to the remix with Joe and Nas. Everybody was jamming that version, even non lambs, so I can't completely agree with this theory, it's my belief that it takes a little more than the core fans buying multiple copies to make it to number one. But I'm sure fans of other artist buy multiple copies of their material as well, so it probably all fairs out in the long run. I also agree with the post about the politics behind airplay, promotion, and just in general. It's obvious that the industry has something against Mariah, but like the Phoenix she always rises, and proves she doesn't need their favor because she has us and the favor of the general public (IMO). She may not have a gazillion Grammys like Beyonce or others, but they don't have her albums sales. This is why Mariah is the people's champ. Though the lyrics to the original version of TGIFY may be lost on the general public, could we say the same for Hero, Always Be My Baby, One Sweet Day or We Belong Together? You know the answer.

Music Box (39,171) by RadChad from United States
Though I officially became a hardcore obsessed fan during Daydream, Music Box was very first CD I purchased (during the Daydream era). I think it Mariah's most commercially perfect pop album to date, it's edgy whatsoever, but it was inspirational, the vocals were magnificent, it served it's purpose of making MC a pop icon. I still enjoy this album because it shows that very perfect, technical singer side of Mariah that we all appreciate and fell in love with. Really all the songs are great and listenable, even though I skip a few here and sometimes I just let it play and truly think mastepiece.

Best covers (39,158) by RadChad from United States
Okay, I wasn't gonna defend it, but I've always jammed To The Floor as well. I thought it was just a cool little laid back groove and "What It Look Like, What It Do", (not worth defending but a stone groove in my book). Randy: I knew my list of skipped songs would be someone else's go to songs. I'm one of those lambs that's happy when folks love MC songs that aren't on my best list. Because atleast somebody appreciates the song. MC's best recorded covers IMO are I'll Be There, Without You, Against All Odds, Open Arms, Didn't Mean To Turn You On. The others are good too, but these are the standouts. I also loved her live renditions of If Only You Knew and You And I.

Skipped: part II (39,141) by RadChad from United States
If I compiled a list of skipped over songs it would look like this.
Mariah Carey: I Don't Wanna Cry - good song just have to be in the mood
Emotions: So Cold
Music Box: I've Been Thinking About You, Now That I Know and Never Forget You (all sometimes)
Merry Christmas: (ironically) All I Want For Christmas Is You and Santa Claus Is Coming (To Town)
DayDream: Fantasy and OSD, only because I've heard them so much already in passing
Butterfly: Whenever You Call (idk why, great song though)
Rainbow: Heartbreaker, Did I Do That, TGIFY (sometimes)
Glitter: Want You feat Eric B. (it's okay meh)
Charmbraclet: Lullably
TEOM: Stay The Night (could never get into for some odd reason)
E=MC2: Love Story, Last Kiss, OOC
Memoirs: Ribbon and Standing O
MC2Y: Oh Holy Night Live (the original cant be beat)

Skipped songs (39,139) by RadChad from United States
I can't agree with some of these choices. Through The Rain is perfection to me vocally, lyrically, and spiritually a go to song for sure. Another shocking song on the list Jesus Oh What A Wonder Child. No words. This song is the most Holy Ghost anointed song MC has ever recorded I just can't. Emotions was a masterpiece of its time, I can't phantom it being a least favorite. The only song I skip over (sometimes) is So Cold (you have to be in the mood for that one ). Someone said it best when they said we all have different taste when it comes to MC. Some only love her full and belting voice, others love every layer and texture (me), some of us love her pop and house music, others love her R&B, gospel jazz, and hip hop. The list goes on and on. All that's important is that we love her and she has something for everyone's taste.

How could I forget? (39,118) by RadChad from United States
"Crybaby" from Rainbow. That's actually the song I revisit the most from that album, this song is very cool. I loved MC collabos with Snoop, it always ends up a cool mellow groove. Not to scare or upset you all, but did anyone read a story about MC having gone deaf recently. I'm confident that there's no truth to this, at least I strongly pray not. I really can't wait until she fully recovers and start back promoting the new album.

Deedre / favorite songs from least favorite album (39,092) by RadChad from United States
Get out of my head. I was actually thinking about posting a similar post too yours entitled "favorite songs from least favorite album". Anyway, I agree with your whole post. Mine would be, from Rainbow: actually the only songs I could've done without the most is Did I Do That, it's listenable, just not my fave or go to song. I absolutely love Can't Take That Away, Bliss, HeartBreaker Remix, After Tonight and Against All Odds (I know that's half the album what can I say ) everything were just entertaining fillers. My favorite from E=MC2 are: Touch My Body, Cruise Control, I Stay In Love, For The Record, and my absolute favorite and what I consider the gem of the album I Wish You Well. I said before, I don't think she' ever had a horrible album. Some are just greater than others.

More albums (39,082) by RadChad from United States
I forgot to add Music Box, which I would put after Emotions at number 4 and Merry Christmas II You, which I would put at number 3 behind Memoirs.

Other divas (39,045) by RadChad from United States
Joechim: There's nothing to feel guilty. I'm also a big fan of Chaka Khan, Anita Baker, and Teena Marie. And I like Dionne, I actually liked/purchased Beyonce and Kelly Rowland's latest effort as well. I give everyone a fair chance, but MC is just that diva that's effortlessly untouchable IMO. There's just that special something about her, the voice, and music that has always stood out from the rest.

Underrated albums (39,020) by RadChad from United States
Deedre: You post was completely on point, I don't think I could've broken down that album any better (shout out to "Candy Bling" that's my joint). All I know is that I still bump Memoirs untill this day, and will never understand why the fans (especially) slept on it. Geraldine: If you lying you flying, totally agree. E=MC2 is my least favorite album as well (though I do enjoy a few songs from it), it's the album I feel the most disconnection from. Memoirs was a huge step up from E=MC2 IMO, but unless she's belting every syllable , people won't ever recognize it. Lica: Thanks for your post. Charmbraclet to me was one of her most intimate albums, it pretty much felt like a therapy session, which is why I always felt so connected to it especially during that era. Allan: Exactly. People forget how much Mariah has musically given us more than many other artist has given there fans. Mariah is Mariah and doesn't need to pattern herself after any other divas. Breaking the mold is why she's still here.

Thank you Randy / new album (39,009) by RadChad from United States
I'm beyond tired of people bashing Memoirs (and Charmbraclet) which were both great albums IMO (musically and lyrically especially). Folks get on here and complain about the rap features when (like you said) Memoirs had no features, then they complain that she should only make songs that fits her current voice, yet they complain/hate when she sings in the whispery register etc. etc. Mariah is that diva that's young at heart, she still looks great for her age (not that she's really that old anyway), she loves hip/hop flavored songs, she wants people to bump and jam to her music. This is what she does, I'm not understanding why people are mad. I mean, there will be mature ballads on the album, the vocals will be strong (Almost Home, Triumphant Pulse Remix), let's get a grip. In general: Can we just wait for her arm to completely heal first and for the album to be released first, before we go in. It makes people seem very insensitive and selfish when someone (they're supposed to love) is down/hurt and all you can do is be mad at them for accidentally falling and that the album is not out yet. I'm just saying.

So much to say (38,943) by RadChad from United States
Okay I'm I know I'm like a week behind on some of these topics, but bare with me (I just figured out where to send messages on the new layout ). Arianna Grande: I will admit she's cute (for this generation), I like her, and I can hear the Mariah influence. However hearing the influence and "sounding just like Mariah" is two totally different things people. In my honest opinion she sounds nothing like MC singing/vocal wise, MC's voice is light years ahead. The only thing she did remotely close was the whistles in her cover of Emotions and the verdict is still out on the legitimacy of those notes because her live and studio whistles on other songs sound less impressive (a la Christina-ish). But she has a good voice, and I actually would like to see her do well, it just keeps MC's legacy alive. Okay Randy, you are definitely on to something brother. It has always confused and bothered me as to why MC wasn't apart of the Waiting To Exhale soundtrack, and your theory along with something Babyface said in concert (post Whitney's passing) makes perfect sense. You may be able to find it on YouTube, but to paraphrase he said when he and Whitney discussed who should be apart of the soundtrack she was very particular as to who should be on there and objected to certain names that he brought up. He said she was like "C'mon Face, I gotta have my girls on there" he followed by saying "I won't tell you all who she was talking about". So there's no doubt in my mind MC was that person. I mean virtually every current and legendary R&B singer at that time was on that soundtrack except MC. It was very purposed, but it's great that MC and Whitney eventually became friends and duet partners. Song that should've been #1: Make It Happen, Anytime You Need A Friend, Butterfly, Breakdown, Say Somethin' (at least top ten), Obsessed, and #Beautiful (at least top 5). Enwar: How could you hate Never Too Far, I mean I can understand not wanting it to be a single as in staying an album gem, but not liking it at all? Really? I don't even need to explain the epicness of her vocals on that one. Definitely a defining vocal moment in my book. Moving on: MC collaborating with Wale is not a typical/random rapper thrown on the track situation. Artist like Wale, Kendrick Lamar, or Drake are ideal for a Mariah track in my opinion. Like someone else said, I love MC's ballad, but I also love her jams just as much. Mariah always wanted to, always will, and always has bumped hard, it's what set her apart from the other big voiced divas and made her the leader of the pack 23 years later. Finally: If this tracklist is true then I'm excited, the fact that we see Big Jim Wright, Walter A., and Stevie Wonder's names in the credits is all I needed to see to believe that she wasn't playing around in that studio all these months (not that I was doubting her anyway).

Mariah, Chaka, Toni, MJB, JJ (38,833) by RadChad from United States
Wow Stephen, I couldn't agree more. Mariah and Chaka Khan on the same track would be undescribable. I'm an enormous fan of Chaka Khan as well, she's easily my favorite old school diva/singer of all time (I particularly love her work with Rufus). I would say the spontaneous/free yet pitch perfect vocal arrangements is something she and MC have in common and does impeccably. Anyway, I love the idea of Mariah and her fellow 90s divas doing something together, I hope it happens asap. The Daydream era Is still my favorite era of all time, I think it was just an exclusive time period where MC was at this rare place. Like she was just starting to sink in as a superstar diva to be reckoned with. Her looks, vocals, stage pressense, image, and music was everthing to me back then. I was borderline depressed when she flipped the script in 1997 , but I eventually moved on and embraced the new MC. The Daydream era will always take me back to that feeling of falling deeply for MC, realizing her outstanding beauty and musical genuise.

MC voice / PJW (38,717) by RadChad from United States
PJW, you've made some valid points that I can agree with: I would say that MC should definitely give up drinking alcohol. Period. It does absolutely nothing for her voice, but dries it out. She should also re-train her vocals and rehearse more, because for some reason she always seems like she's "winging" it. However I disagree that she should publicly announce or admit she "lost her voice" for many reasons. One being that she has already acknowledged her nodules and the fact that her voice is very sensitive. Also I agree (with some on the board) that once she speak those words ("my voice is shot or damaged"), then that's it. She will be always labeled as the diva that can't sing anymore (and people would only see that), the only way she'll be able to shake it is if her voice returns to its early to mid nineties condition. I can see the haters now. "Mariah can not sing anymore at all, even she admitted that. So how can you consider her the best?" Not a good look. Believe it or not, there's still some people in the world that feels she still has it and can still bring (me being one of them) and (I or) they want to hold on to that and be proven right. Giving in and saying she can't do it anymore, would take that hope away from many people. So I say she hold on to her dignity, get her voice in the best condition possible and slay the world. That's what I'd rather see. Also I actually believe she does still have moments when her voice/ technique is much stronger than it was in her "hey day". If she get her voice in top condition and maintain it, she would sound just as great if not better IMO. So I personally don't feel lied to or feel like I'm owed an explanation, because though the live performances can be rough, she plays hard in that studio and does it over and over until its the best she can make it. This woman still pours her soul on to that notepad with a pen and gives me something no other artist has/can. The "Looking In" performance deserves all the praise it got, because though everything wasn't 100% spot on, she still sound really good and it gave us hope and showed promise. I won't even touch on people thinking every solid note she hits "must have been lipped" (I just can't), but basically Mariah is still capable of great things, and I pray for the day she reaches that full potential she still has in her.

Agreement (38,644) by RadChad from United States
I fail to see what's tacky or annoying about MC lounging on stacks of hay (or sitting) during the #Beautiful performances either. I also speculated that the major height difference was the motivation. Even in the video she's wasn't towering over him. Notice how she was on back of the bike and then like 100 feet away during the car scenes. So I'm in agreement with it being her way of being considerate of her duet partner vertical challenge.

MC's recovery / ability to have a complete live performance (38,620) by RadChad from United States
*Sighs* I've decided that I won't debate with people on whether Mariah was singing live in a particular performance or not anymore, because at some point it becomes exhausting and irritating. From now on all I'll do is state my honest opinion (after careful investigation) and keep it moving. So for those who want to believe she lipped one or two words in a performance or (better yet) want to believe that she can't possibly hit a whistle note or belt live anymore, under any circumstances, at all, ever. Be my guess. I'll just be content with simply knowing better. Moving along I just want to say I appreciate MC's efforts. The #Beautiful remix with Jeezy is hot and I'm not mad at a video (she's only trying to keep the lambs happy ), as well as keep things afloat until the next single and album release. I still have high hopes and wish MC the best with this project and a speedy recovery. I just want to show my girl some love, because I see her trying. Peace.

Hmmm Stacey (38,536) by RadChad from United States
I don't know about that one now. I've studied that Grammy performance as well and it sounds/ appears all live to me. I've even heard the imperfections/differences between the live notes and album notes. Now I'm not delusional, I know MC has her fair share of half lipped half sung performances (some obviously and some not so obvious), but she still sings (well) totally live sometimes. BET's Blueprint performances is a prime example. Not saying you, but I think what has happened as of the past decade and some change is that people tend to doubt her when she's actually does well singing live. Honestly considering the pattern, I can't fault anyone for that, but I can confidently believe that she still has her stellar moments here and there, when the voice is properly cared for.

Will / Randy / Marvin (38,518) by RadChad from United States
First I want to say I used the wrong emoji in my last post. I meant to use face instead of this face. Not that that's out the way. Will: I agree with most of what you said, though I would say MC definitely needs to properly practice/prepare for her next performance, she also needs to over care and maintain her voice so that she can slay it totally live (I still believe in her). Marvin: I also wasn't totally convinced that the intro was lip sung, and I totally agree with Will that it proves that she still has it. She just need to groom and nurture it, so that it can flourish. Randy: Will was actually right in that Whitney Houston has lip sung before as well. It a proven fact that her iconic rendition of the national anthem was in fact a prerecorded vocal and I can think of at least one other performance she has lipped as well. So has many other top notch vocalist, maybe not as much as MC, but they definitely have. That's all.

Dear Mariah (38,510) by RadChad from United States
You looked gorgeous. The intro was everything. But the madness must end. I can't anymore. I honestly could careless if you lip sync for you life to prerecorded vocals (as long as it isn't the CD version of the song ), but the world does and they're watching. I won't defend her because it is what it is and I won't attack her because I can put myself in her shoes and slightly understand. However this isn't working for you Mimi, and having a bad reputation for lip sycing consistently can tarnish your legacy. Having said that I still love you, will always be a fan, stand by you, and support your efforts, but some changes and reevaluations definitely needs to be made ASAP or else I don't know and neither will you.

If you should ever be lonely / Heartbreaker (38,326) by RadChad from United States
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that's completely in love with this remix. I didn't even know it existed until (of course) the remix album came out, but I believe it took for it to hit me at the right time (couple years later I believe) for me to notice it, and once it caught my attention, I was hooked. The emotional mid voice over the deep vocals, was pow. I think Heartbreaker as a whole had the best remixes, from dance to hip/hop R&B. I would chose the Love Hangover/ Heartbreaker remix over them all though, I need Mariah to do a full remake of that song like last decade. I hope she does the same with the #Beautiful remix(es), a total reinvention of song with new vocals and music.

MC (38,292) by RadChad from United States
I'm mad I have that visual in my head of MC and Miguel now *cringe*, but yea I agree that we or Nick don't have anything to worry about, if you get Stephen's drift. Even though I think MC have the power to covert. George: I feel you, but at this point we shouldn't even bothered being bothered by it. Because MC will be showing it off as long as she can get away with it. I said at least she looks good. I see the album title have people taking: good, bad, indifferent. I think it's a good thing people because people are talking period and it's not flying under the radar. If it was a typical title, it probably wouldn't be a topic of conversation, so I love it.

Wow, crazy forshadowing (38,271) by RadChad from United States
Before even knowing the album title leaked today, I randomly had the thought (based on rumours from weeks ago) that the title "The Art Of Letting Go" not only sound like an epic monstrous hit, but would also make an awesome album title. Crazy right? I think this is a sign of things to come, because I also felt that it would catapult the success of the album and that the song would blow minds even shocking us lambs (in an overwhelming good way). If so then bucket your seat belts, because we have another song of the decade on the way.
