I totally agree. Remember "MonarC Records"? I think after that it would come down to a distribution deal. I think it may be something MC and Nick would joint venture for their own distribution company. I love the Ebony article.

I would love to hear a full version of one of the ringtones. "Once in A Lifetime" was my jam. I'd play it on repeat all off the time back in the day. I can't believe "The Emancipation of Mimi" era is already almost 10 years old. "Mimi" came out the month before I graduated high school. And it was popular throughout my sophomore year of college. That's the type of life I wish for this upcoming album.

I don't want an 80s cover on this album. If she was to do a cover I'd rather it be something from the 60s or 70s, ie: "Help Me Make It Through The Night" was an awesome cover for MC. I loved both versions of the song before, especially Gladys Knights' version.

I wouldn't mind a "MC & Friends" album, with songs like "It's A Wrap" with Mary J. Blige and "Yours" with Justin Timberlake amongst other songs that are duets that haven't seen the light of day. With a couple of new duets. That would make my year! But this new album is about to make my year in a way because when MC doesn't have anything out there's a huge void in music. IMO.

KaizenOcean, I totally agree with almost everything you said about MC. The only thing that I was thinking is "TAOLG" should wrap up the album, be the last track. I've been in love with the song. The music and those background vocals are everything. Not to mention MC and Rodney Jerkins production. It's so very different for Rodney Jerkins, I've never heard him produce anything so classic and timeless before. But I agree with everything else, great post. B, I feel the same about those songs. I couldn't take Music Box without the uptempos or Daydream without "When I saw you". That production and vocal on that song are just out of this world. I can't wait to hear MC sing pure love songs. Who wrote on Tamar Braxton's "Love and War"? She has some really great pure love songs on her album. Also Brandy's album from 2012 was on point as far as just pure love songs. I can't wait. I hope we get a beautiful r&b record on 2.14.14 and a classic r&b album in the spring. I can't wait. Also, loving MCs new pictures on Facebook.

You can buy "Everything Fades Away" on iTunes. It's on the Hero single. I love everything about that song. But it's like 20 years old now. I also love "Slipping Away". It's probably strange but I don't think there are MC songs that I prefer over others. Like for other artists I have whole albums over others. Like I only liked maybe 5 songs from Beyonce's "I Am ... Sasha Fierce" and would take her latest and "4" over it. But would take her debut over everything she has released since. But with MC, my soul opens up with each riffs, run, trill, whistle, whisper, low note. And her lyrics have always been far superior to me than her contemporaries. Even though I think MC should open up and work with her contemporaries more. Listening to music with my beats headphones, I hear so much more as far as harmonies and music. MC hasn't released a mediocre or subpar album, IMO. But weak videos would make it seem that way sometimes. I think MCs worst video ever is "I Wanna Know What Love Is" followed by " Hate U". I can't watch either because they don't really do the songs any justice.

I've been waiting for Maxwell's album for like 4 years now. And before that it was like 8 years. It takes time for greatness. I can't wait for MC's single and the album. Just the thought of these two working together has made me happy about the wait. I also was listening to Beyonce "Superpower" and thought MC should write a song with Frank Ocean. He is such a talented songwriter. I also would love to hear "They Don't Know Me Like That" recorded, I heard the demo a few years ago and fell in love with the song. Wouldn't it be awesome if we got an "unreleased" EP? Like 5-7 songs that weren't released of more current material, nothing from the 90s. Like a mixtape. With songs like "Skydiving".

MC is an artist. She doesn't move with the times and trends. She creates trends and moves the times. I was happy to have a single without an 808 drum beat. It's been years since an artist has released a song without the 808.

I do feel like Tommy was her handler and I do believe that she began to wake up out of her programming and saw that what she thought was real love was not. But I feel that she has been working really hard to move past all of the manipulation and mess that's she's experienced through the years. I see light in Mariah's eyes! A lot of stars seem really dead in the eyes. Like they're just a shell of their former selves. I just see MC aging gracefully in an industry that can be a really scary place at times. I actually said that the media controls how we actually see celebrities. Smoke and mirrors. Mk Ultra mind control is real. And we saw MC go through a lot back in 2001 based on what happened in prior years. Not to mention a rough childhood. But until I see MC like a zombie just blankly not able to answer any questions and look really uncomfortable, i.e. Britney Spears in interviews, I'm not gonna worry about her mental health. I also don't think MC is a horrible alcoholic that's unable to function without handlers.

Mental state (40,320)
by clueey23 from USA
| |
|
|
Who are you to question someone's mental state? I don't think you guys get it, back in the 90s MC was like a slave in the industry who really showed very little personality until maybe 97 and still then was very much controlled. I think she is a glamorous grown wife and mother who is able to finally be somewhat of herself. Period. And I love MCs vocals from the 90s but she sounded like a kid because she was a kid. She sounds way more mature vocally. And to be frank she can do things now with her voice that she wasn't able to do back then. I say, if you're worried or concerned about someone's, whom you don't even know mental state, you need to go see a physician about that. That's a serious issue that you need to fix within your own self. But honestly, MK ultra mind control is real. And what we saw back in 2001 was MC break away and breakdown from her programming. That's why I cried during her impromptu performance for the fans earlier this year. Basically, singing and laughing about the person filming her "bad side". That's why MC still to this day says she struggles with insecurities. The music and film industries are scary places. Think about Britney, MJ, Whitney Houston and even Amanda Bynes and many more celebrities that have basically sacrificed themselves for money and their art and fans. Media controls your thought processes and how these people appear to the public. I don't believe anything on tv or in entertainment for that simple fact. Smoke and mirrors guys.

I don't want MC to be confined to what the industry or radio wants her to do or sound like. At this point in her career, she is digging deeper than ever before. What we hear on radio sounds like microwave music sometimes, the artistry isn't there anymore. So I want a more creative amazing album than chart success. I think MC is tired of compromises just to be heard. And I'm glad "The Art of Letting Go" was the glimpse of what's to be expected in 2014. Her honesty about AI and AIWFCIY in these past few interviews are steps in the right direction. I can't wait for the New Years performance.

[...] (40,214)
by clueey23 from USA

According to a top snitch at Sony BMG, Beyonce's late night album release was not meant to happen this way at all. Two insiders who both confirm that the label execs did not like Beyonce's album, felt that she was moving in too [...] a direction, and were prepared to [...] and scrap the entire album. They were [...] willing to spend any dollars for promotion. Beyonce - taking advice from Jay Z - felt confident about the album, and its potential sales. So Jay Z urged her, and she agreed, to pull a [...]. She basically told the label release it now, no promo. If the album sells well, you can expect the label to [...] and pay for promo. That means interviews and the like. This should give us MC fans some insight as to why things happen sometimes the way they do in the music business and why it's taking MC so long to release her album. It's all politics.

MC / Beyonce (40,213)
by clueey23 from USA
| |
|
|
I personally would buy a MC album, with no single, no promotion. Real fans would. What makes this move great for Beyonce and what would make it great for MC is that it's for the fans. And I believe MC has said in the past that she would like the music to go directly to the fans, ie: "The art of letting go". They're most likely in two different political climates. But in this singles driven market, that is how you release and sell an album. Way to go Beyonce! I know all of Beyonce contemporaries are going nuts, ie: Gaga spent something like $25 million to promote her latest and they still haven't recouped that money. So this is great for the entire industry. As far as visuals, if MC made a more conceptual album, where the album is actually telling a story, the visual aspect would work better for her. But as far as what Beyonce did with her visuals I don't think that would work for MC.

Beyonce is proof there are no rules in the music industry today. She just released a whole album last night called, Beyonce. No promotion, no single as of yet. But that is an awesome gift to the fans. So I wish everybody on the message board would stop talking about "traditional" rules for releasing music. It's not the 90s anymore. Beyonce has been on tour and finishing her album this past year. So you all tell me will she get more or less album sells, or does she even care? Guys chill out on MC.

Rihanna 13 #1s (40,195)
by clueey23 from USA
| |
|
|
Who cares? On half the songs that went to #1 she is a featured artist. For example, "Monster" is an Eminem song where Rihanna sings the hook. MC will always have the distinction of having written and produced her own #1 songs. I'm glad we don't have to see MC associated with demonic images and just everything that Rihanna has become. We should all know that Rihanna loves MC. Also, Rihanna's career, as far as putting out an album almost every year since she's been an active artist., is molded after MC. Only Rihanna's songs are pop fluff, not pop classics. Don't get me wrong, I own Rihanna's albums, but to compare to Mariah's music is comedy. And she still needs 5 more songs to top the chart before she matches MC's record, that's a lot of #1s! But I do find it strange that she is amongst Michael Jackson, Madonna, Mariah, Elvis, and Whitney Houston.

I think it's cool that "All I Want For Christmas Is You" is almost 20 years old and is #26 on Billboard Hot 100. If you all haven't noticed there is an AIWFCIY mega promotion going on. Also #1 on Billboard Hot 100 Christmas songs. A dream of mine is for this song to be #1 on the Hot 100. But one can only dream. I think it's amazing that only MC can be the "queen of Christmas".

MC dubbing / insecurities (40,177)
by clueey23 from USA
| |
|
|
Sony were the first ones to start dubbing Mariah's performances around 1994. So everyone acting like it's something new is mistaken. I actually believe that many people listen/watch something like Madison Square Garden and thinks that all of the swoops and transitions were actually live. Awesome concert but the whole thing was dubbed over to make MC sound perfect. I don't think her voice is completely shot. Now if her whole vocal was that of what we heard when she tried to sing the falsetto "you"s at the end, then it would be completely shot. I think Babyface said it best, "When an artist reaches a certain level of success, because they are so successful, they become insecure and begin to question even if they're relevant anymore." In some ways I feel MC has always had some insecurities, who doesn't? But more were brought on after she was signed. Not to be funny, but the label will say they love you and everything about you and slowly they change you, ie: early on in her career someone said that she had a bad angle and she only needs to be photographed from specific angles. That would be tough to hear from a professional that you trust to groom your image. That's what makes MC great is being able to sing something like the freestyle on Fallon and be able to joke and laugh about something that her handlers back in the day programmed her to think and believe. Also, it's not MC acting or saying she is the best vocalist, it's the media and the public. MC seems to be very humble when it comes to her vocals. She has said plenty of times that there are singers out there that can sing her under the table. To me, when it comes to MC is not about everything being perfect it's about the heart and the emotions she makes me feel with the runs and rifts and phrasing. It's not about having a hit record on the radio. I was born in 1986 and literally grew up listening to MC and Whitney and Mary J Blige. 90s music. What I've noticed is the music industry and celebrity have become so diluted and convoluted at the same time. Less love, more money. Less singer/songwriter more Barbie doll. MC hit #1 with "We Belong Together" a love song to the industry. Then hit #1 with "Don't Forget About Us" another love song to the industry. And then #1 with a song all about sex "Touch My Body". Notice the pattern change from what she was talking about then until now.

MC's image (40,175)
by clueey23 from USA
| |
|
|
I don't think MC should cut her hair. A bob wouldn't look cute on her. Just the thought makes me laugh. I would like MC to have a more relaxed style though. Like I need to see her with some jeans on, hair pulled back every now and again. I think it would come off very rediculous at this point in her career to change her entire image. More so than anything, MC needs to sing parts of her catalogue that she hasn't sang live before when she begins her tour. A new set list. I'm tired of her singing the same songs. I wonder if it's a contractual issue that she can't sing songs like "The roof" in concert. I'm tired of these greatest hits tours. The standard songs that should always be on the set list are "Vision of Love" and "Hero" and "We Belong Together". Every other song should be something off the current album or something that she hasn't sang live before or sang in a long time. The snippet of "Love takes time" was actually refreshing, also "Looking in".

Who cares? It's not that deep (40,155)
by clueey23 from USA
| |
|
|
So MC rushed on stage and was clearly out of breath, sounded great and then she didn't hit the falsetto notes. Hello, it's her falsetto. Look up falsetto and then maybe you would have a better understanding as to why she wasn't able to hit those particular notes that particular moment. Not to mention nodules on her vocal folds. I think MC sounds great regardless. And I wouldn't be surprised if she went backstage, took a sip of water and took a breath and hit the same notes that she didn't hit on stage. Maybe if I didn't sing and understand music, I would probably sound as critical and ignorant as some of you on this fan message board. I can't wait for the next performance, single and album.

TAOLG (39,974)
by clueey23 from USA
| |
|
|
It's not that deep. I'm just happy to have new music. In case you all that are complaining haven't noticed, this isn't the 90s nor is it the 2000s, it's the 2010s and things have changed in the music industry. When it comes to releasing music, there are no rules anymore. MC is doing just fine. And when it's time we will know. Do you know how many songs got the single treatment and still didn't impact the charts the way TAOLG has? TAOLG is not a flop. It's far from over, listen to her on American Dad. See her on two Christmas specials and gear up for a 2014 album release. I played the song TAOLG for a few people and also showed them her private performance because a friend of mine from Texas brought up the BET Awards and how they could've only imagined what I was thinking in that moment. And I said those are her vocals regardless and played the new material and live material and they were left with their mouths on the floor. And just as I thought. MC releases a song with great lyrics and Beyonce follows suit with a song for her DVD release of the HBO special. Her song is even less radio friendly in my opinion. But it is great to hear a singer sing about something other than partying, money, and sex. I think, pray and hope the music is about to shift from what it is today to where it could've gone if it wasn't hijacked in the past decade.

The Art Of Letting Go, flop? (39,910)
by clueey23 from USA
| |
|
|
Okay, this record is not a flop by any means. This record hasn't even been released to radio with very very limited marketing and promo and is making waves around the world! #1 in 8 countries. On the other hand, an artist like Lady Gaga is flopping hard with "Art Pop" and the record company is like out $25 million for the marketing alone. I really don't think an artist as legendary as MC flops. She has said that we are in a "singles" era in the music industry. Hence "Triumphant" and all its remixes. "Almost Home" for a Disney soundtrack, "100%" made for the Winter Olympics back then. Another reason I believe it was easy for MC to release like a ton of remixes for #Beautiful besides the pushback on the release date for the album. I think that TAOLG is a throwback in every sense of the word. Not only in sound but a throwback to before the radio was so heavily programmed and regulated that you can't call up and have the local dj spin the new release because you simply requested it. Looking forward to this record. In love with both singles. And I don't really need everyone to like something in order for it to be considered greatness. The majority of MC best songs ever sang or written are not #1 records, let alone singles.
