Re: Billy, Stacy and Stephen / Jimmy Fallon private concert (39,856) by clueey23 from USA
Thanks Billy for understanding what I was saying in my post. Stacy, if you could go back and re read sweetie because if you didn't call MC crazy, I wasn't addressing you. That message was for everyone calling MC crazy and saying that she was having another breakdown. Stephen, thanks for calling me a "nut job", that was nice. But my point is proven because you don't know me from a piece of sliced bread and you called me crazy. Very rude and dismissive to what I was actually saying in my post and my opinion on people calling MC crazy. On another note, I really enjoyed MCs private show, well the 5 minutes that have been uploaded. Great vocals, her musicality is what makes her a genius, great audience and personality. I think MC is at her best by a piano or simply backed by live instruments, her voice just shines. Amazing!

Crazy fans/ Facebook letter (39,826) by clueey23 from USA
I can not believe the people in this site. I think you all are the crazy ones, talking about MC being crazy. I think the interview with Angie and Jimmy were great and honest. Some of you watch or listen to something once and miss the comedy and fun of it and label her as crazy. Calling this breakdown number 2 because she cares about her craft enough to explain that the version on Facebook wasn't the right mix of the song is very dismissive. MC is an artist, music is her life. So if you created a song from scratch and had spent so much time perfecting everything and some rookie engineer uploaded the wrong mix to premiere the song to millions around the world, you would be pissed too. MC is just cool and humble enough to actually communicate with her fans about something like this. The simple fact that the song hasn't even been released to radio and has this much buzz is awesome. Sometimes I think people or fans forget they don't actually know MC and they want her to be what's in their heads, that's not only sick but crazy.

"The Art of Letting Go" (39,771) by clueey23 from USA
MC is amazing. It's sad that these days and times people would tend to sleep on a song like this. The lyrics, the orchestral instrumental, the piano, MC's vocal is cut throat. And the more you actually listen to this slow burner, you hear the genius of this record. MC should have an amaziing video and also the performances of this song should have folks paying that $1.29 and in love with her all over again. This song reminds me of a live performance. It reminds me of R. Kelly for simple fact that this song tells a story. A more raw gritty part 2 of "Betcha gon know". I could actually hear this song on the radio, it just depends if programmers agree. So excited for Jimmy Fallon tonight. I can really relate to this song at the moment. Especially the line "I hope you don't get no ideas about reuniting baby, because that's the last thing I truly need." Story of my life at the moment.

This is my point. We as a public are already saturated with actual photos and videos of MC and all celebrities, so who wants a cover that looks like an Instagram snap. The cover art is art. Period. What she looks like body wise in the photo is not really relevant because we have no idea when this photo for this cover art was actually done. We as fans know MC has always said she likes the water, i.e. the bathing suits since Honey. Yes, at times it gets played, i.e. Hate U. But I'm actually enjoying the approach MC and JD are taking releasing this record. They are giving off good vibes. And this actually becoming an event in itself as if this was an album release and not a single, is awesome.

The Art Of Letting Go cover (39,592) by clueey23 from USA
I come on here to a bunch of critics. Geesh. The cover is called "art" for a reason. Back in the day people didn't even use their own faces for their projects. I have a bunch of albums that are literally artwork. I think this is MC best cover ever, album or single. As far as the music, I'm as excited as I was at any other time about a Mariah project because I know that she never fails me and my personal taste in music. I just love the way you all have bought stock in MC and if this next single doesn't reach the top 5 or the album doesn't debut at #1 you'll loose millions.

Hello (39,484) by clueey23 from USA
I know this better be the best song I've heard from Mariah or any other artists in a long time, for her to announce the name of the single and then make us wait a month. Ijs. In other news, I love JD being MCs manager. And already even with the announcement and his interaction with the people promoting her is already great. Not that MC needs a consigner, it's nice to have somebody like JD to be the one to do it. Moving on, I enjoyed the Walter A. interview. It was fantastic. Very informative and very complimentary and honest. I hope they work together soon. I believe #Beautiful should be included on the album as the album sales would only push up the single sales for that song.

Yes. I didn't care for it as a single but I love "Bye bye". I sing it all the time. I love to sing harmony with it when she goes into "every day of my life, I wish, I wish, I wish and I wish as time goes bye" lol. Also harmony, when she goes into "if I could say bye bye, bye bye, bye bye, said come on somebody sing it with me wave ya hands up high". I love that song.

Favorite Mariah albums 2000-2013 (39,019) by clueey23 from USA
My favorites, I love them all but in this order:
1. Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel. This album just sounded so inspired and real.
2. Charmbracelet
3. The Emancipation of Mimi platinum
4. Glitter
5. E=MC2
6. The Remixes. Even though songs like "Crybaby" and "Breakdown" weren't remixes. And to me that is a perfect example of the label not listening to MC because I know she would've included the "Breakdown/Mo Thugs" and also "The Roof" with Mob Deep. Just saying.
I bought "Greatest Hits" but I already owned everything that was featured on this double album. I didn't purchase "The Ballads" because I already owned all of the featured material on this album. I didn't understand this release. I wish instead of "The Ballads", the contract obligation should've been made to release "The B-Sides/Unreleased". That would've been great.

Jeanette (39,007) by clueey23 from USA
I love Rihanna, but she is still not Mariah Carey. She may have 12 #1 records, but I don't know the name of all of them, nor are any that memorable, with the exception of "Umbrella". I own all of Rihanna's and Beyonce's material, but their albums are like filler compared to a MC album. Mariah is a class act, a throw back to the days of a piano and a mic, when a record company cared and taught their artists how to be. Whereas, Madonna, Gaga, Rihanna, Beyonce, Katy always have to put on a crazy show to entertain the public. I would be so disappointed if MC started walking around in clown makeup to promote a single or album. And I own Gaga and Katy's older material, but I don't care for "Applause". "Roar" has grown on me, but it wasn't an instant connection. All MC needs to do is release a single. Get it played on radio. Release an up to par video ie. Jay-Zs "Picasso" video is amazing but very simplistic. And Mariah needs to preform her new single completely live. No backing track and no dubbing. And I believe if she did a couple of radio interviews, went on a few talk shows, she would be right back on track for a November release for the album. I just feel MC has always since 1990 or 1988, when she signed her 1st record deal, been in her own lane. If it was all up to MC and not other label heads or radio programmers, she would probably have had a #1 record with "Obsessed" and "#Beautiful".

Janette (39,006) by clueey23 from USA
I honestly don't think Mariah is trying to compete. It's about putting out fresh material and collaborating with other artists and producers. #Beautiful was a nice fresh single. It's about creating a fresh sound that everyone of any age can relate to. Not to mention it was her biggest hit in years. Whitney Houston and all the rest are who they are and MC is who she is. "I Look to You" was a decent effort for Whitney, but it was boring. Besides a few songs, "I look to You", "Million Dollar Bill" and "Solute", it was boring for me. And I don't listen to Donna Summer or Celine Dion. I wish you wouldn't compare singers who tend not to create ie. write or produce to MC. Also, I would like to say that since "E=MC2" hit #1 and "Touch My Body" hit #1, promotion and single choices and also videos have been off kilter. Not up to the standard in which we all expect of Mariah. I personally love "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel", it was a real modern r&b record which did as well as MC promotional efforts allowed it to do. It showed us growth, intimacy and attidue. Not to mention the label shelved the remix album after she had released two great singles for it. I wish MC and Ne-Yo performed live and also MC and Nicki. Both videos were nice, especially "Up Out My Face". And I feel all of this comes down to label politics. I think at this point in the game MC would do great as an independent artist or great on another label. "Daydream" is almost 20 years old. Just saying.

The Art of Letting Go (38,995) by clueey23 from USA
I just wanna know why everyone is so concerned with Gaga and Katy Perry? I know that they are popular, but when it comes to material, MC is still unmatched. The ladies are on their third albums. I don't think MC should release the album next year. The album should be released as soon as her arm heals. MC should release a 2nd single and hit up every show to promote it after 'The butler' comes out. Seriously, waiting after other artists release material is silly. Because Gaga and Perry aren't the only artist coming out. And Mariah doesn't sing pop or pure pop. She is more of a r&b artist in my eyes, and has always been since 1990. Gaga and Perry's singles are good, but childlike in my opinion. Like most music these days, it's designed to appeal to 12 year olds. So I honestly don't see them as competition. Their singles are being played because of the same clear channel deal MC used for #Beautiful, like every other artist does. MC should just come with new material sooner than later and do cross promotion for her Christmas music and the new material. If she wants to look like she is an insecure diva who is afraid to release her material because of Gaga or Perry, then yes, wait until sometime in 2014.

Stephen / other thoughts (38,962) by clueey23 from USA
I think she still understands on a global scale. The last album "Memoirs" had "I Wanna Know What Love Is", which I feel shouldn't have been released in the USA as a single, but to an international market as a single. I enjoyed it on the album, yes. I think that song was huge in Brazil. But the video was "bleak". She needs better videos and better promotion for each single. Because what might do well in Europe or Asia or South America may not do well in the US. Another example could be "Boy" and "The One". She could've still released "Boy" to another market outside of the US as a single. But "The One" could've been a hit in America at that time. It actually would've put her right back on track before 'Mimi".

Mariah Carey is America like apple pie (38,956) by clueey23 from USA
Mariah Carey is an American treasure. Vocally unmatched in terms of Beyonce, Gaga, Madonna, Rihanna, Katy Perry and many more. Mariah is like apple pie. Whitney Houston was another. And I could care less about a global status. And I also appreciate the fact that she knows what "Without You" did for her career globally. The fact she is big in the biggest market in the world, America, is what matters most. She is most def an Elvis of this generation. Whereas everyone else is still trying to catch up. MC is from NY and didn't move across the pond and pick up a fake accent trying be something she isn't. That's another reason why it's easy for me to accept and respect MC's contribution to music in terms of working with HipHop artists and HipHop producers because she grew up in New York where that genre of music originates from. So it's never a shock to me when she wants to work with rappers or make more R&B records. Her idols are American soul singers ie; Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight and other American legends. If she wanted to be accepted in the UK or globally to the max, she would've made more "Without You"s. But lets not act like she hasn't reached around the globe either. People on this very board are not in America nor American. So to me she is a global star that doesn't have to put on a costume and be a clown for the public in order to be accepted in the world, unlike countless others.

Songs that could've went to #1 / other thoughts (38,948) by clueey23 from USA
For me records that should've been #1 are "Shake It Off" and "Can't Let Go". And I agree with Special K about still being mad about "Migrate" not being released. After "Touch My Body" hit #1, she should've stayed in that vain. "Migrate" is the song that all of the radio programmers loved, not to mention T-Pain's star power at the time. I also feel that after "Obsessed" she should've released "Up Out My Face" remix with Nicki and then slowed it down with "Hate U" with a better video. I think it would've had a better response. I agree the video for "#Beautiful" should've been the Spanglish version video. It just seemed so much authentic and fitting for the song. Those motorcycle shots were bleak. Nothing like the "Sweetheart" motorcycle shots, which were actually great and real.

B-sides and unreleased tracks / album cover (38,920) by clueey23 from USA
I need an album of all of the material that we know of that hasn't really been released. ie: "I Feel It", "Imperfect", "Skydiving". All of the tracks that were released overseas, "There For Me", "There Goes My Heart". MC has so much material that I just feel like in at least the next 5 years or so, we should get a double album of this material on her 30th anniversary in the music business. Like a thank you to the fans. Not another "greatest hits". She's still "too young for that" lol. She is such an underrated talent to me. Her "gems" have really yet to be heard. I guess I can hope and wish, right? More so than anything at the moment, I hope this pic next to the "track listing" for the new album is not really the pic for the cover. I really hope we get something like the ad mock up that surfaced a couple weeks back.

The Art of Letting Go track list (38,904) by clueey23 from USA
Yes. I'm so excited about this album, if there is any truth to this track list. Stevie Wonder and R.Kelly. Production from Walter A. I think this will be one of the best that we've heard and will surpass "TEOM" and "E=MC2" in terms of sound. This sounds like it's going to be a very mature, grown album. Not to say that MC hasn't made mature R&B, but this is beyond my original expectations. I'm ear to ear about this track listing. I hope it's true and I can't wait for the next single. Also enjoyed the Billboard recognition of MCs accomplishments within the charts. "So successful, yet still so eager." I can feel the growth already, and that's all I ever ask of MC is growth. I wouldn't care if this album peaked at #10 and she never had another #1 hit, because I've gotten tired of Mariah trying to cater to top 40 and holding back on growth. Although "Memoirs" is like her least selling album and she really didn't have a hit besides "Obsessed", that was a grown album. A real album that a grown person that had been through something could relate to ie; "Betcha gon know" and "Languishing" and "It's a wrap" and "Inseparable".

New collaboration (38,892) by clueey23 from USA
"Mariah x Wale x JD = coming soon." I'm excited. Wale has one of the best albums out this summer, along with J.Cole. Lets hope that JD has come up with something that doesn't remind us of anything from "Mimi" or 'E=MC2". I'm just saying that mid tempo and those chords from "WBT" are classic but tired.

"Art if letting go" album cover (38,854) by clueey23 from USA
If this is the album cover, it would make sense, because when you are doing promo ie. GMA, that was a specific look for the album promo. And she also had the same hairstyle in the #Beautiful video. I think the cover and look is pretty and sexy at the same time. It's like a bedhead look. Very relaxed, very natural looking, not a load of extensions. It's cute and I like that album cover. The black and white was obviously a layout mockup for the ad before she changed the date. I've worked in retail and logistics for Abercrombie and Gap and there is always a certain way the entire store has to be set up. So I don't believe it's photoshop at all. Who knows if she'll change direction with the look though.

Lee Daniels' The Butler / Aresenio Hall Show / Ariana (38,849) by clueey23 from USA
I can't wait to see MC next month in "The butler". This movie looks awesome. Arsenio Hall is coming back out with a late night show? Cool. It would be great if MC debut the new single on the show, like she did when she first came out with "Vision of love". I don't believe the rumors between them not one bit and Nick seems like a really secure person, so I just don't believe the tabloid gossip at all. I don't see it at all with the Ariana thing. She can sing, but she reminds me of a pop tart with no depth. It's cute, she's cute, the song is cute, but there is nothing else there for me. I agree that she has a lot of growing to do to find her own voice. She is really jocking MC though. From the look, to the album title being "Daydreaming, come on, it's kinda sick. lol. I also enjoyed the blooper clips. Funny and just fun, at the same time taking care of business. Gotta love MC. And those vocals as always were on point.
(Tuesday 30 July 2013; 2:49)
Stephen (38,824) by clueey23 from USA
Yes. I totally agree. It's so annoying when people compare Ariana to MC. She can hit a couple of high notes, but there is no soul behind her vocal. My mom called me the other day asking if that was MC's new song. Lol. I was like you can't be serious. But I have to remember that this industry always wants to have all the little pop tarts with a decent vocal be the "next" Mariah if they can hit a D6. Haha. I remember they did the same thing with Christina Aguilera. And Christina's vocals to me are a hot mess most of the time and she has a pretty voice. She just likes to scream and call it singing. Also, I agree that Daydream was like the blueprint for Butterfly. Both albums to me are very deep. Songs like "Looking in", "I am free", "Outside". And then to me her writing masterpieces like "Butterfly", "Underneath the stars" and " Fourth of July". I could go on. But yes, I totally agree with you.

#1s / The Beatles record / Beyonce album (38,805) by clueey23 from USA
I remember when MC performed "Obsessed" on AGT and after Nick said she was the single artist with the most #1s and MC said "There is a group who has more, and clearly we can't touch them." I think this was Mariah's way of letting the public know that she will not match or break The Beatles record because of the politics in the music industry. I forget who said it on here, but I believe you were right about radio programmers and industry heads being upset that she broke Elvis' record. And I remember when she broke The Beatles record for most weeks at #1 with "Heartbreaker" and folks were really upset about it. Also I was reading an article in Billboard and Beyonce has scrapped her whole album. And I don't see people up in arms about the pushback. I think MC should get that same if not more respect for taking her time with the album. I also feel like Mariah should give us live instrumentation on this upcoming album. Her vocals shine so much more with that type of production.

The voicemail (38,792) by clueey23 from USA
The voicemail message took me all the way back to like junior high. MC is my favorite, still. I'm 26 and it's so weird that something like this kinda excited me, but it did. Thank you for the nostalgia MC. It took me back to a simpler time in life when the world and life wasn't so chaotic and people were a little less narcissistic in entertainment and in life. Before reality tv, back before and after the Mottola sabotage on her life and career, after him being her handler for so long. Took me back before and after Glitter. And I also enjoyed those vocals in the background. MC has always seemed to keep it real with her fans and that's what I think I appreciate about her as a person and celebrity. She doesn't seem fake like Beyonce or any other "diva" out there. This voicemail took me back in time when MC was kinda a mystery, the way I think a celebrity should be. Took it back to when you only really kinda heard from her in these messages. Do you all remember "I love you, appreciate you, and enjoy you"? Only Mariah kinda made my morning. Lol.

Triumphant (38,782) by clueey23 from USA
I liked Triumphant. I just feel they should've released the Triumphant vintage to pop radio and created a video for it first and then embraced the one with Rick Ross and Meek Mill after as a remix. Also I felt besides her small verse or bridge she should've opened the song with her own verse. And I thought the video could've had a stronger storyline. It gets boring seeing people with money in videos virtually act like themselves. The whole boxing theme should've just been one aspect of the video, not the whole video. And Rick Ross' verse was so weak. Meek Mill actually shined a lot more than MC and Ross. Just saying.

All the critics (38,742) by clueey23 from USA
I've been coming to this message board for years and the atmosphere has changed, and not for the good. I remember when it was fun and you could come here and express positive things about Mariah and her music. Now everyone thinks they know everything because over the past decade the "celebrity" has been diluted. Reality television has ruined it for me. And as much as liked seeing MC on American Idol, it opened her up to that "reality tv" factor. I love her on Facebook and Instagram, but people thinking they know about whatever struggles or anything personal like her voice is just sick to me. Seriously, everyone's voices change, but it's not like MC is singing off key or horrible. She opened up to us about the nodules on her vocal chords back in 2005 on the E. special. Sometimes it would be absolutely the best to lip sync or whatever. Nodules are painful. Just like the GMA performance when she was trying to go into the whistle on #Beautiful and all we got was air. I saw it before they dubbed it over, she is a human being first, a wife, a mother, and a singer-songwriter, producer, and then she is a celebrity. Fall back with your critics, as if you could even come close to anything she has accomplished in the last 25 years. The music and entertainment industry is a very very difficult and dangerous place to be. And when she performed "Looking in", that's all I could think about. You all think you know, but have no idea what it's like. Sit back and enjoy her artistry please.
