Ratings / Deedre (36,871) by Stacey from USA Wednesday brings more boosted numbers for broadcast series, including a four year high for "Christmas in Rockefeller Center". The special was up 11 percent from last year to a 2.1 rating with adults 18-49, a four-year high. Well hello? It's because you can't have a great Christmas show without Mariah. And when she delivers a live performance we all know she's capable of, of course the ratings are going to show that. I did catch one part of the song that was lipped. It's quite obvious when she sings "Mr. Grinch simply can't resist warming up when he looks our way", but that's neither here nor there. Thank you Deedre for the mp3s of the performances. I kinda love the live version over the recorded one. I just wish I could cut out Al Roker's introduction and have the song begin. Know what I mean? Do you have the Christmas songs from her White House performances last year? One Child? If you don't, I'll gladly send them to you. Let me know. (Friday 30 November 2012; 23:29)

Mariah's cleavage / Deedre (36,853) by Stacey from USA Maybe it's the girl in me, but I don't care for her cleavage. You don't have to give away the farm to look sexy. With that being said, of course the media is going to focus on the "girls". MC gives them every opportunity. The media has never been on Mariah's side, yet when she dresses like this, she only adds fuel to the fire. Honestly, I wonder what the comments would have been had she covered up a bit. Maybe they would focus on the music for once. Who knows? Anyways, I am just glad she is promoting "Christmas time is in the air again" this season. It's an amazing song that deserves to be singled out. Deedre, I loved the cover art, etc from O Holy Night. You know there are two versions, right? Check out Eric's discography here. Very well done. I used it as a guide when I collected a long time ago. I remember when I got my first copy of UTS. I felt the same way. Enjoy it. I love her Christmas promos. Miss You Most was a hard one to let go of. I do have the rare version from that promo on mp3 if you ever want me to send it to you. It's a bit more Rn'B-ish than the version we're all familiar with. Christmas time is in the air again (36,848) by Stacey from USA I am thrilled this song is being promoted as a single. I absolutely love it. For an album that falls flat to me, this song is an absolute gem. I don't mind the soft vocals because when the song hits the climax, MC hits that amazing note. Combine that with the stellar arrangement, and this song is just perfect. Her performance was amazing too. You can tell she sung it live because some of the notes were a bit flat/sharp in some spots. Not criticizing her at all. No, no, no. Just saying it's live, since many of us, me included, have gotten after MC for lipping too much sometimes. Jamie / evergreens (36,816) by Stacey from USA Jamie, Bob's message had already been censored when I checked the boards. I posted my response not knowing Eric had censored parts of the message after others had seen the uncensored parts. I wondered what all the fuss was about not yet knowing that fact. Anyway, Eric cleared things up. Moving on. There are a few songs that yes seem to get played a lot more on radio than others. However, I've also heard my fair share of ABMB lately on radio. That song has a timeless feel to it as well. You can't deny Fantasy (especially the remix that was so groundbreaking in music), and One Sweet Day (which still holds the record for most weeks spent at #1). All of us are going to have our own "evergreens" depending on the era in which we discovered MC. I grew up with her early music and therefore thing about songs like Dreamlover, I'll Be There, Vision of Love, etc. Oh my, VOL is absolutely an evergreen. So, I think I'm being objective in saying I read Bob's message over and over and I really tried to find anything utterly disrespectful, and I just couldn't. If you want a disrespectful message, I'll tell you about one Eric sent me that he didn't post. But hey, we all see things differently. Mariah and Tommy (36,754) by Stacey from USA I have a hard time believing MC would have enjoyed the same success at another label. I don't doubt her talent. I've celebrated her as a fan for over 20 years. However, none of us know what her path would have looked like had she signed with Warner or any other label. Would she have 18 #1 hits? Who knows. None of us can say for sure she would have done as well or better at another label. I'm not going to speculate on the unknown. As far as their relationship, I believe they were in love. Look no further than the sugary Music Box album. In time, though, the relationship deteriorated quickly. Looking In is a cry for help if I've ever heard (and a sort of anthem for myself too). The song Butterfly was what MC hoped Tommy would have said to her. He didn't and the rest is history. I can't say anything more. (Friday 16 November 2012; 5:02)

Mariah, Tommy, and Butterfly (song) (36,748) by Stacey from USA Folks, listen to Butterfly. Mariah wrote that song to tell the story of what she hoped Tommy would have said to her. IMO, it's the most personally revealing song she's ever written, ever. After listening to that song, you guys honestly can't tell me she didn't at some point have deep feelings for the man and wished at that time it would have worked out. Butterfly is all about her trying to save the relationship. Listen to Now That I Know from MB. That is all about Tommy. However, things happened and she felt it best to leave the relationship. But for a time, she was in love. I look back to my past relationships and know they didn't work out for a reason. I'm with my husband and have two beautiful children. MC is happy with Nick and that's all that matters. Tommy is a part of her past. He helped make her a star. It's ok to talk about that. MCIIY (36,713) by Stacey from USA It's been snowing here all day long. My favorite song off the album is by far "Christmas time is in the air again". For someone who doesn't necessarily love the whisper, she does it right with this song, then switches it up to the full vocals when the song calls for it. Perfect. Nothing will ever top MC 1994 for me, but I am glad she released another Christmas album. I get to enjoy the above mentioned song plus Oh Santa, and another favorite One Child. That is a great song to remind us who we celebrate this tme of year. (Saturday 10 November 2012; 5:18)

Bring It On Home (36,705) by Stacey from USA The song reminds me a lot of Slipping Away, in that same family. I like the vibe of it. Chase (36,652) by Stacey from USA Your post "entitled" suggestions was spot on. I feel that same way too. She is capable of so much more than what we got with Triumphant. I saw the cover art and thought, "Where have I seen that before?" That's not good. That's not going to grab the public's eyes if it's something they have already seen before. What made her so different, so amazing was that she was capable of wowing us with each album, coming up with so many different songs and sounds. After CB's modest sales, folks were wondering if MC had a commercially successful album left in her. Um, she totally did and I think still does have the ability to wow us with something amazing, something new and fresh. You and I aren't hating on Mariah. We just know MC is capable of so much better. On the days I walk on my treadmill, I'm listening to Mariah. Honestly folks, go back and listen to those favorites of the past. If TEOM was "the return of the voice", 2013 needs to be "the voice is here to stay" and then deliver an album that shuts up all her critics for good, lol. (Friday 2 November 2012; 4:44)

Opinions on MC / Unplugged / charts (36,651) by Stacey from USA Fans are always going to have their say on what MC should do or not do. And they should have that right to express their views no matter how much it bugs another fan. That's the point of a messageboard. I also loved the article giving love to Unplugged. It's one of my favorite albums. I so wish MC would have done another Unplugged with more recent material from Daydream onto the present. *sigh* One can dream. I absolutely love the Unplugged rendition of Make It Happen to the album version. I remember MC being accused of being a studio creation. Part of why I love Unplugged so much is the album shut those critics right up and put some duck tape on those lips. She sounded amazing, and I'll Be There? That song will always be a classic. There was magic in the air that night. When you become a fan as I did in the early 1990s, it was easy to expect MC to top the charts each time. You got so used to the top spot or Top 10 finish that you almost expected every song to top the charts. Those days are gone. Doesn't mean she won't have great finishes like Obsessed hitting #6 or TMB hitting #1 a few years ago. It just means we shouldn't get disappointed if she doesn't chart high everytime. John / Edward (36,611) by Stacey from USA You are dead on with your comments. Plus, if fans do call you out, it's because they know what you are saying is true, but can't openly admit it, lol. Like Edward said about the videos, there needs to be good promotion, but you can't promote louzy videos. Enough of the bathing suits on the beach. You can put out a fun video of her riding in the car (Emotions), at Camp Mariah swinging on a tire (ABMB), etc. You don't need a specific storyline ala Heartbreaker, Obsessed, or WBT. It just needs to be something other than her lying on a beach. I loved IBLYLT and that video killed any hopes the song had at doing well. It was so cheap and far below MC's calibar as an artists. I like Nick, but he needs to stop directing her videos, lol. MC needs someone who doesn't live with her, lol. (Friday 26 October 2012; 21:02)

I Only Wanted / massage (36,605) by Stacey from USA The thing I like about this song is that she's not whispering all through the song. She's using all facets of her voice, which is where I think she is at her best. 8 hour massage? Who knows if that's true? Gosh, when I want sleep, I just pop in some ear plugs and close my eyes. I'm not one for strangers rubbing stuff all over my body, lol. But to each their own, right? (Friday 26 October 2012; 1:37)

Charmbracelet 2nd single choice (36,597) by Stacey from USA CB isn't my favorite album, probably in my bottom 3 of least favorites. However, the album does have some stand out songs and The One is one of them (pun intended, lol). That song would have been a better single choice. The song wasn't as soft as Boy, but provided a variety of Mariah's vocals, which is where I think MC is at her best. Plus, there were some great remixes attached to the song that would have helped. All in all, though, I really don't think it matters. That album was never meant to be anything spectacular chart-wise. It was damage control. After the Glitter debacle and breakdown, putting out an album was the best way to get MC on the talkshows telling her side of the story. The purpose of all that promotion from Mall of America to the Today Show, and her appearance on Oprah was to show the public that Mariah was healthy again, back to making good music. The music from that album was more for MC's therapy during her recovery then for the public at large. That said, it did sell over a million copies which was pretty good 10+ years ago. May not be a fav of mine, but I do enjoy The One, I Only Wanted, Irresistible (no rap version), and TTR. (Tuesday 23 October 2012; 23:19)

Nick and Mariah's candy room (36,586) by Stacey from USA Oh my, be careful MC. I've lost 60 lbs in just over a year and even I have to watch the candy or work out more to even out what I've eaten.
