What is your initial fan story? (102,623) by TJ from Norway I became a fan after watching her debut video in 1990. Vision of Love is still one of my favourite songs. The video brings back so many memories. What I am really sad about is the fact that I didn't realise the reason to buy singles before 1992-93. Female singers (102,584) by TJ from Norway I know that show business is harder for women, but the reason I like Sting and many other male singers is the fact that they have not tried to compete with the younger generations. I love Mariah, I love Madonna and many more, but why don't they make music that mirror their life, and their age. I'm getting older too, and younger artists like Adele feels more my age. Look at the Stones, Elton John, Sting, Bryan Adams. Nobody cares how old they are, for women it should be the same. But it's not. Tina Turner, Gladys Knight and Cher are really the coolest who showed how wrong the media and record companies are. But they are sadly rare indeed. Music should never be about age or anything. That tells me all I need to know about a lot of folks around here. I will ask, which singers at this stage of their career have #1 hits and put out quality albums all the time? Name names. How many have had #1 hits in 4 decades? 3) You say she's focused on more things than just music like that's a bad thing. I sure hope she is, she's building and supporting a family, not spending 24/7 every day putting an album out every year, and has certainly earned the right to explore many different areas of her life and interests. I love her Pop and R&B stuff but c'mon (in Mariah's voice) hoodriah is caviar ratchet. Early this day, I was listening to AA remix album for the first time and I must really say it slaps. I remember the press release said it would but then I heard that it was taken off the schedules. Did it in fact air on MTV? We all miss that MC we used to know, and I guess you now understand the goats from the early 90's. I love the performance you refer to, and I wish she could still do that, but at this point I'm thinking that she has nothing more to prove, and I will always think of that out of this world voice she provided us with in the beginning of her career. No one can top that. Vision of Love is the proof of that. Of course I want her success in the future, but she has proven so much at this point that it's almost not human. Then the confidence on stage, not bothering to look pretty nor have good angles for the lighting (notice her exit after that beautiful applause was on her "bad side", no insecurity there). Where did this Mariah Carey go to? Today she really isn't this girl singing here anymore. That line she sings on Candy Bling though, "I'm the same Mimi, fame ain't changed me". Yeah [right] Mariah.
