About Manny from U.S.: I have loved Mariah since I heard Vision of Love back in 1990. I was captivated by her range, tone and beauty. I wanted to know more about her. I have followed her career and life ever since.

Cigarette picture (56,905) by Manny from U.S.
In the picture, I see James holding the cigarette, it's not even lit. In fact he's holding it backwards. I smoke socially and sometimes I hold a cigarette until I get to an appropriate place to smoke. I don't think Mariah would allow him to smoke in front of her. She has protested against cigarette smoke, I don't think Packer is an exception.

Five questions for Mariah (56,734) by Manny from U.S.
1. Will you ever release audio of you singing as a little girl? (I think, she mentioned she only has audio, no videos.)
2. What do you look for when you are hiring a backup singer?
3. Would you rather write a book of your life or star in your own movie?
4. Now, that you're a mom, can you still get as much vocal rest as before?
5. Will you perform songs in Spanish, or other languages again?

Re: Mariah in Jimmy Fallon (56,721) (56,730) by Manny from U.S.
Thank you for posting this. I have never seen this interview. At the end, when Prince leaves the stage and the feedback is crazy, I thought Mariah was going to match the frequency and hit a high note.

Mariah as mommy (56,587) by Manny from U.S.
I get happy when see Mariah with "dem babies". Mariah is such a good mom. You know Roc and Roe are her life. She took them to Disneyland today. For Labor Day weekend, I saw a pic of her on the swing ride with them. As much as I want new music, there's a different type of joy when I see her be a mom. She is giving and receiving real love. Sometimes this celebrity and fame thing, seems fickle. Mariah enjoy those bundles of joy

Re: Manny - random memory (56,280) (56,288) by Manny from U.S.
How cool. You're also a fan since day one. I listened to the first Christmas album religiously. One of the memories I have I have of that era is the MTV contest they had where Bill Bellamy and Mariah called the winner. The winner met Mariah and saw her rehearse. I thought I would win for sure.

Random memory (56,258) by Manny from U.S.
As I'm reading the message board about certain ideas Mariah should materialized, I remembered something. I have been obsessed with Mariah's whistle notes since the beginning. I remember telling other "lambs" how cool it would be if she used that part of her range for a big part of a song. I imagined an ethereal song like Underneath the Stars, Fourth Of July, or Minnie Riperton's "Loving You". I had imagined it more as a background technique. When I heard Bliss I went crazy. I couldn't believe she actually wrote that song and used the whistle much even as the lead parts. Have you guys, had something like that happen? You've had an idea and then she does do it.

Baby and Shezz (55,530) by Manny from U.S.
That was funny. Thanks for the laughs. I sometimes want to respond to some people in a negative way. This is a better approach. We can't changed some people here. Just like we can't change the fact that Mariah will return to Vegas, will have her Christmas concerts in New York and will go back to Europe. Oh, wait. And we can change the fact she will finally get her star on the Hollywood's Walk Of Fame.

Angels Cry (55,436) by Manny from U.S.
For the longest time, "Emotions" was my favorite Mariah song. Then "We Belong Together" took its place. I thought no other song could top it until I heard "Angels Cry", the original. I would choose this song to listen to forever if I had to choose. I have a thing for angels and what they represent. I like imagery of the hurricane, lighting, and walking on a narrow rope. It sounds poetic to me. When I listen to this song, it reminds me of the love of my life. I like the sweet tone of her voice in the song also.

Vegas, Angel interlude (55,284) by Manny from U.S.
I just got back from Vegas. I saw Mariah on Sunday. I was super excited as my sister and I sat on the orchestra section. That's the closest I've been and even though it was row MM I swear she looked at during the concert. She passed real close when singing ABMB and I took a video, but she didn't look our way. I stood there quiet as I got star struck. I know you're not supposed to take videos though. Speaking of preludes and interludes, I haven't seen anyone mention the meaning of all the high notes on Angel prelude. I think all those high notes is an angel or angels crying. I always repeat the Angel interlude as it sounds ethereal and magical.

Best vocals (54,731) by Manny from U.S.
1. If it's over (SNL) - Wow, her husky tone and the growls.
2. Vision of Love (Arsenio Hall, wearing red dress) - She performed this song twice at this show. I kept repeating this one when I discovered last year. It blew my mind.
3. Anytime You Need a Friend (C&C remix) - Like Norman said, those scats.
4. Without you - It's a very emotional performance. Her rendition makes me cry. She sings like she feels every note of the song.
5. Infinity (Kelly and Michael) - The performance was spot on and the high notes at the end are angelic. I don't think I've heard that high tone from her.
By the way, I love her remixes, regular and club. I listen to the club remixes at the gym. The one that gets me going the most is the Honey club remix. I like how she uses different vocal techniques. Her vocals sound so lively and are rich. I feel like I'm at a gay club and having the time of my life.

One Sweet Day article (54,460) by Manny from U.S.
I read the article about OSD, which is in this website's news section. Did the author just refer to it as an AIDS song? "A mix of megastar Mariah Carey, mega-group Boyz II Men, and lyrics about how undeniably sad the AIDS epidemic is, 'One Sweet Day' is like one of those movies that seem written just to get a Best Picture Oscar." Mariah said it was about the death of a friend, I'm not sure if it was David Cole. She never mentioned it was about AIDS though. I always figured he was gay and maybe he did die from complications of AIDS. There's nothing wrong with that, but it seems this article is 1) not true 2) written more to stigmatize the AIDS "epidemic". It bothers me how these professional writers twist the truth and make the readers believe the inspiration of this song. It's a sad way to sell their work.

Petals (54,251) by Manny from U.S.
"So many I considered closest to me, turned on a dime and sold me out dutifully." I just saw the clip of Morgan. I really thought The National Enquirer fabricated the whole thing. I never thought he would do that. He was the one that paid for her demo tape. I remember him always speaking highly of her. First, Alison backstabbed Mariah, now Morgan. Mariah even dedicated the first album to Alison. I am praying that Morgan is lying or exaggerating. He obviously is doing it for the money. He seems to be the one that looks like he has a substance abuse problem. I don't think Mariah could be doing everything she is doing if she was an alcoholic. She might be bipolar but many celebrities are. Shawn, her nephew tweeted that Morgan is lying. I am praying for Mariah and her kids. It must be hurtful for her to go through this.

Gossip (54,201) by Manny from U.S.
Let's just say The National Enquirer has done its job if we as fans are still talking about this. I'll leave it at that. I am still thinking of the last May concert she gave in Vegas. I took some videos and I didn't know how much I sang along until I saw them. I had a blast and she sounded amazing. I hope I can go next month.

It's a tabloid (54,123) by Manny from U.S.
A tabloid uses sensationalism to sell. If National Enquirer were a person her name would be Wendy Williams. I don't believe any word from that article.

#1 To infinity tomorrow (53,719) by Manny from U.S.
I'm getting ready to head to the airport. I'm going to Vegas with my friend. I'm excited. Tomorrow, we will see Mariah singing her number 1's until infinity. Last time, I saw Mariah in concert was at the Palms in 2009. I made the picture of the T shirt I got at that event, my profile picture. I can't believe it's been that long. I wish I had time to see her in other ways like talk shows tapings, but that's when I work. Hopefully, I can go in July. I'm listening to "Infinity" and really thankful Mariah is doing music and concerts.

Infinity and beyond (52,387) by Manny from U.S.
When I first heard the title of infinity, I loved it. I am a math teacher and that abstract concept has always made me ponder. When I actually heard the song, the strings part totally caught my attention. It has an element of dreamlike or trance. Mariah uses different connotations of that infinity. When she says "there's an end to infinity", that's the mathematical meaning of infinity, the one that theoretically we can count up to. When Mariah sings "infinity lovin' more and more", to me, I see her equating infinity to the universe, the ether of what has been, is and will be. It is the chi that flows through all of us. When you break up with someone, we forget how many paths our lives can take us. I'm thinking back of past breakups where I felt stagnant. I realize where infinity or the universe has taken me after. The heartbreak made me stronger and I grew as a person. I see "Infinity" as a song of empowerment, faith, and resilience. To me it's genius what she did. Mariah used different metaphors and she is basically saying FY to Nick. My favorite lyrics are "Everything you own boy you still owe."

There's an official lyrics video on YouTube of Infinity. I keep listening to it. I love it.

The Coliseum (52,130) by Manny from U.S.

I uploaded a video on YouTube of the advertisement they are showing at The Coliseum in Vegas. I thought I'd share it. I was there this weekend and couldn't believe no billboards were up for Mariah's residency. There was even a Kourtney Kardashian billboard for her birthday bash that weekend. Really?

Vegas (52,045) by Manny from U.S.
I'm at Vegas this weekend. I thought I'd see billboards of Mariah outside of Caeser's hotel. The only place I saw a poster was at the actual ticket box, just outside the Colliseum. I have the poster on my avatar. They had an advertisement and a CD section at the Celine Dion store and that's it. I'm still excited though to come next month for the concert.

Rare interview (51,098) by Manny from U.S.
I came across this old interview. The interviewer asked Mariah about her stepfather who had sued her. The question is asked around 2:20. Mariah's eye roll is so hilarious.

Coliseum tickets (50,852) by Manny from U.S.
Does anybody know If the Vegas tickets are sold out? I went on axs to check prices and it says no seats available for all dates. I thought maybe their site is down or had a glitch. I'm freaking out. I was going to get the tickets next pay day.

Andrew (50,765) by Manny from U.S.
I'm just curious, when will you be satisfied with anything Mariah does? I'm only saying. Last year, she released an album. She toured Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. She came to the US to do 6 Christmas concerts. Now, she will be performing at Las Vegas. There is an interview where she says she has been singing those whistle notes since she was like in 5th grade. That was 35 years ago. I would recommend you to look up what happens with vocal nodules. On YouTube, there are good videos that show their effects on the voice. For us to think she can sing the same as in the nineties is just wishful thinking. She has vocal damage and sings through those nodules.

Did any of you know Mariah personally (50,470) by Manny from U.S.
I think it's hilarious when fans assume things about Mariah like if they know her personally. I try not to assume anything about her personal life. Are some fans anxious about Vegas that they feel the need to fill in the blanks of what they think is going on with her? I agree with Abraham. His post made sense to me.

Number 1's vs certifications (50,290) by Manny from U.S.
The most certifications Rihanna has received for an album is 2 platinum (2 million). Mariah got certified for 6 platinum for TEOM around Rihanna came out. She got the diamond certification (10 million) for Music Box. I totally understand, digital records are what's happening now. I feel, tangible albums made it more real though. When you hold an album, read the credits and admire the singer's cover, it's more real. There was a time when 10 million people would go buy Mariah's album. That's 10 million album covers all over the country. Wow. With digital albums, you can stay home and buy it on iTunes. It's convenient but I miss the ceremony I had when buying an album "on Tuesday". I would listen to the whole album in its original sequence, following along with the lyric sheet. I would rewind to hear the supersonic high notes, melismas, her long notes, or her laugh. I don't think Rihanna would've been certified as much (as Mariah) if she had been around in the 90's.

Maybe others need to wake up (49,689) by Manny from U.S.
This time I do have to say something about this matter. Andrew, I think you should go back and read all your comments. You've been posting very negative comments about Mariah since 2 long years ago. It's not constructive criticism when you only focus on her mishaps and somehow never acknowledge her triumphs. I think you're the one that needs to wake up. For the most part, you are not happy with her. It's not a question of Mariah leaving, it's about you realizing that Mariah does not do it for you anymore. I don't know why you insist on all these harsh criticisms. I challenge you to read your old comments and you'll see who really has the problem here. Why waste your time and keep getting disappointed everytime Mariah messes up?
