About Manny from U.S.: I have loved Mariah since I heard Vision of Love back in 1990. I was captivated by her range, tone and beauty. I wanted to know more about her. I have followed her career and life ever since.

Ellen (49,266) by Manny from U.S.
I was listening to UOMF. Since Nick is continuing to "rap", I pictured Mariah singing the line "No. You ain't a rapper so you need to stop spitting it" to him. Anyway. I really enjoyed Mariah's interview on Ellen. She was more composed than the interviews she did last year. She was funny, sweet and humble. When she surprised the fans dressing up as a room service worker, I was happy for them. How lucky. I live in California, and I'm planning to see Mariah as much as I can in Vegas. I'm excited.

Mariah in Vegas (49,092) by Manny from U.S.
I'm confused. First, some people were complaining that Mariah was not going to perform in the US. Now, that there is a big possibility that she'll be in Vegas, everyone is complaining for A, B and C reasons. I'm sure she will not perform every night and will have vocal rest. She will not worry about so much commute. I'm not a parent but I am a school teacher. When I speak to parents, they make decisions based on their children. Mariah is a mother. When Matt Lauer asked if being a mother changed her, she said 100 percent, I think. Her everyday role is being a mother. To Roc and Roe, she is their mother. As fans, we might see her as a superstar, goddess, etc. Let's not forgot she has her personal life and she is a mother. It just seems selfish to want and expect her to be the 1995 Mariah.

Mariah's "The Wind" (48,794) by Manny from U.S.
Today, I was at Starbucks. They were playing jazz music. I didn't recognize the song but it had a break of just piano. It reminded me of "The Wind". Then I wondered about Mariah's song. I only knew Mariah wrote the lyrics to Russ Freeman's instrumental "The Wind". I had never heard a recording of the original "The Wind". Today, I did my research and I saw online more info on it. I've always wondered and now I know. I went to YouTube and heard Chet Baker's version who performed it in the '50/'60s. "The Wind" also had original lyrics by Jerry Gladstone.

Mariah, the queen of redemption (48,747) by Manny from U.S.

I can't stop watching this performance of "Joy to the world". The high notes at 2:45 and 3:16. I won't write a lot as her "live" singing speaks for itself.

Mariah, the queen of shade (48,535) by Manny from U.S.

I totally imagine Mariah "throwing shade" to those "fans" that keep criticizing get harshly, like she did to Nikki here. Show business is a business. When anything is televised they're is a lot of planning. People are believing TMZ rumors. NBC never said anything bad about Mariah and she performed. Whateve "she did" was not that bad because she was not fired. People keep posting all these things like her career is over. Maybe some fans haven't heard about her tour this year. They haven't heard how many singers are covering her Christmas single "All I want for Christmas is you". They only focus on anything that could be the demise of Mariah's career. They doubt her legacy. Personally, these are not fans anymore and should move on. She still has thousands of loyal fans that would go see her. That is why she performed in China, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, The Philippines, Australia, New Zealand and New York. What's the point of dwelling on everything she messes up on. I think Wendy Willians is secretly posting here.

Mariah "Oh Santa" pre recording (48,509) by Manny from U.S.

Last year, I discovered this track. I like listening to it as you can hear her vocals clearly. I love how her whistle notes sound. I wonder where this is from. Does anybody know anything about this track?

The weather (48,217) by Manny from U.S.
I don't like to criticize Mariah but I feel the need to say this. For the tree lighting performance I noticed the back up singers had winter clothes on (scarfs, coats) and Mariah had a dress on, exposing her neck and chest. It's too cold to be dressing like that and expect to have a good voice. She did the same thing for the New Year's performance. The back up singers were all covered up and she had a dress. I think she should cover up to sound better.

Hero and Make It Happen (48,061) by Manny from U.S.
Mariah wrote Hero and Make It Happen about me and for me. Just a little joke. Wow. I hadn't seen the Archives for a few days. Why so much "enmity"?

It's been a year (47,891) by Manny from U.S.

A year ago exactly Mariah shared with us "The Art of Letting go". Even though some parts of the lyrics are not so strong, I can relate to the concept. I love the simplicity of the song; her voice and the accompaniment. She released it when I thought I was getting back with an ex. Sadly, it was not meant to be. The part "And they watch as you're falling down" still gets to me. I also enjoyed the Jimmy Fallon surprise for her fans. It's one of my favorite videos of Mariah interacting with her fans. I hope I can meet her "someday".

Walter (47,741) by Manny from U.S.

I remember seeing this interview. They start talking of Walter at around 6:27. Tabitha asked Mariah about the rumors of her and Walter fighting. There were different rumors. I remember one was of Samantha Cole with whom Walter worked with and Mariah didn't like. At 9:10, Mariah says about "like when you tell a friend something and they blab it to the world". I remember that Walter said in some interview that the Honey video was an "FU" to Tommy. That's when I saw Walter was being more loyal to Tommy and Mariah was upset.

Mariah fav things (Mariahisms) (47,610) by Manny from U.S.
1. "A complete and total mess"
2. "Dahling"
3. "Try it on me"
4. "The rarity" (in a Mariah special, she is referring to her legs)
5. "Sing Sing"
6. "I'm feeling diva-licious tonight"
7. "I love you, I appreciate you, I enjoyed you'
8. "If she called me something that starts with a 'b' and ends with 'itch' I rebuke it"
9. "We are lambily"
10. "Happy new year" sang in the whistle register, It was a voice message around New Year's. My friend and I couldn't get over how she went from talking to singing in the whistle register.

The art of letting go (47,470) by Manny from U.S.
I just feel bad for certain fans here. They really need to move on. Two long years ago, when Mariah was recording her album, they were already saying it was going to bomb. When she released it, they kept saying it was nothing like the 90's. Now, that she is touring, they keep complaining about her voice. They sound like little kids when their mommy says they can't get ice cream. It sounds immature to keep dwelling like that. If you're going to complain "incessantly" it's time to move on boo. Just learn the art of letting go. Go and redirect your anger somewhere else.

Confusing part / vocal nodules (47,228) by Manny from U.S.
I'm confused. Why is it that the fans that did not go to the concerts are the ones attacking Mariah. Some "fans" are just rude. You can be "realistic" or "blunt" without being insensitive. I have read different comments on this message board, others and YouTube. The people that were at the concerts talk more positively. Just something that caught my attention. Mariah has said she has had vocal nodules since she was a little girl. On YouTube I watched videos on nodules and you see how irreversible the damage is. With the nodules, there is a threshold on the vocal range and it'll crack on certain notes. Another doctor online said they're like a calluses on the vocal cords. The cords are supposed to be flexible to vibrate and made sound. Who knows how bad Mariah's are? If I was a singer and my doctor old me I can get a surgery to remove them with the risk of not singing or even talking, I wouldn't get the surgery. People say there's new technology but there is risk for any surgery. Vocal cords are real sensitive. I'll like to be more compassionate towards Mariah knowing her instrument has the nodules. If it has bothered you since 1998 that her voice is not good, then maybe Ariana can be your new Mariah. And why did it take so long to stop being a fan?

Edward / Mariah's lyrics (46,982) by Manny from U.S.
I agree with you. Her lyrics sounded like poetry to me. I was a teen and Mariah's lyrics drew me more to her. I'm not sure if it was a typo but the lyrics are "Oblivious I almost fell right over." Those lyrics stuck into my head. The first time she used oblivious in her lyrics was for "Music Box" in "I've been thinking about you". She wrote "I was oblivious, so very out of touch, all the while I couldn't see." I had to look up the meaning of oblivious. Which I had to do with several big words Mariah used, even in her first album (alienation, fathom).

RTD / HMMITTN (46,841) by Manny from U.S.
I would love to hear Mariah sing either "Right to Dream" or "Help Me Make It Through The Night" live. The simplicity of the guitar and her voice makes it so raw. The cracks in her voice and tone along with the lyrics makes her sound so vulnerable. I can feel her pain in the songs. The first time I heard these songs, I had them on repeat.

Thanks Edward and Darryle (46,762) by Manny from U.S.
Thank you for responding to my question. I was confused because Ariana performed "AIWFCIY" live at some show. I thought she needed permission to performed it live at a public setting. That seemed more serious than her performance of "Emotions" on YouTube. That was the only thing I was curious about. Sometimes I also get annoyed by how much the focus is on other singers here. I don't mind it superficially with not much details but if it goes something like this, "Their debut album, their new album, the new video, the lyrics, the interview", I do not read it.

Ariana covers of Mariah's songs (46,746) by Manny from U.S.
The thing I've been curious about this whole Mariah/Ariana situation is related of the covers Ariana did of "Emotions" and "All I want for Christmas is you". Ariana recorded "Emotions" and sang "AIWFCIY" live. I was always under the impression that if a singer covers a song they need permission from the songwriters. Was Mariah asked if allow Ariana could sing her songs? Or is this done through the publishing company? Does anybody know how this works?

Mariah lyrics with double meanings (46,675) by Manny from U.S.
I don't know if anyone has noticed Mariah writing certain lyrics with double meanings. For Example, Crybaby is the name of the song but for the lyrics she uses it as a verb "I still cry baby". In "More than friends", she sings "M-I-M-I okay". But you can also think of it as "Am I, Am I okay?" On the song "Dedicated" the rapper sings "Carry like Mariah" or it can be "Carey like Mariah". On "Meteorite", she sings Meteor-ite, ite, ite. But it can also be seen as she sang Meteor-ite, aight aight aight (the shortening of alright). I was just wondering if anyone else notices this.

Matt Lauer interview (46,416) by Manny from U.S.
When I watch the Matt Lauer interview one of Mariah's last responses stood out in my head. Matt asked where she was at emotionally. Her response was: "I've always been a pretty vulnerable person but I've built up. I've learned how to built up a wall. So when I have to I can put up that wall and leave it there and walk in the other direction. And that's what I have to do sometimes with people in my life when they just don't get it." I thought it was about the IDJ record executives and how they didn't support her (promotion). I thought there might be a chance it was about Nick. With everything that is happening it seems it was only about Nick. I also noticed she looked sad in the interview (the look in her eyes) even though she was making jokes.

I agree with Lee (46,325) by Manny from U.S.
Unless I see a video of Mariah or Nick making statements of each other ("mental state", "toxic" lifestyle, cheating, etc), I will not believe these gossip sites. Stating "a source close to the star" is not enough for me to believe these outrageous stories. I feel intrusive wanting to know details now. It's so fresh. I hate to see Mariah speak of something so hurtful now. We will get Nick's side first as he tends to be a blabber mouth and can't keep anything to himself. Mariah will be elusive in the beginning about the whole thing. Years down the road she might speak of it. It took her a decade after her split with Tommy to speak more openly. When she did the Barbara Walters interview right after split from Tommy, she was evasive.

Sad news if it's true (46,223) by Manny from U.S.
Nick has admitted they are living in separate households. If they do divorce, I feel bad for Mariah. Her kids are three years old. The same age Mariah was when her parents divorced. They always seemed like a happy couple. I was glad she found that stability with her marriage and kids. I liked Nick in the beginning. They were so in love. Later he was so immature and I could see why Mariah might have gotten tired of him. He started irritating me. I wonder if this news will turn MIAM into her break up record and people will reconsider it. Just a thought. I'm sad and I hope they can make the best decision for Roc and Roe.

Thanks Will (46,147) by Manny from U.S.
I can't believe I never made that out. I really thought it was Morris code for something like "faded". Or anything that would make someone "faded", Now, it reminds me of the Thanksgiving special when she was on her porch writing lyrics in her notebook. The clip before "Dreamlover".

Faded, tour (46,126) by Manny from U.S.
When I listen to the beginning of Faded, I still wonder what she whispers, what the first noise is, and if the second noise is Morris code for something. Am I the only crazy one who keeps dwelling over this? Any ideas? I find it ironic that Mariah promoted MIAMTEC mostly in the US and she has not announced any American dates. Unless she promoted it in some other form elsewhere that I'm not aware of. I do have to say that I read a Mariah blog of a fan from the Phillipines. He said that he had helped with the promotion of the record with other fans. I haven't heard of any fans doing this in the US. Is it because the foreign fans know the record company will not do it as much and the fans resort to that? I just wonder if Mariah notices how certain fans go out of their way to help her out, instead of criticizing her 24/7 on a messageboard. I even wonder if she has a fake profile here and defends herself incognito. It'll be funny if she does.

Is Mariah touring the US? (46,027) by Manny from U.S.
I've been dying to know if Mariah will tour the US. So far I have not seen anything mentioning that she is. Last time I saw her in concert was in Vegas (MOAIA). I hope she does do an extensive tour here. I know there's been tours were she focused more on touring in foreign countries. I've only seen her three times on tour (CB, TEOM, MOAIA) and I loved her even more. Has anybody heard anything about the American tour?

Thank you Xavier Peoples (45,510) by Manny from U.S.
Thank you for posting that. I am tired of certain "fans" whining. "I miss the old Mariah, waaah." Wake up. This year is 2014, Mariah is 44 years old. It's not 1995 or whatever year you want her to sing/act/sell like. You can't make her change because she is a different person than when she was in get 20's etc. It's like some people want her to go get married to Tommy Mottola again so she can be the old Mariah. Right now she is the "Old Mariah" because she is older. We all change. If you don't like what she is all about then move on. Some people are always waiting for her to post something to criticize her. I don't to hear someone say I can't expect these fans to change because you are expecting Mariah to change also.
