About Stacey from USA:
Been a fan since 1993. Favorite albums include Daydream, TEOM, and Music Box. I love a good discussion, but won't stand for hateful comments because we disagree. I am too old to deal with drama and so are you. Keep it real with me and we'll have some fun. Peace.

I agree. I hope someday we get to hear that version of Yours ft. JT. It's so frustrating it's under "lock & key". I love to see I Only Wanted getting some love. It's a great song.

Charmbracelet 2nd single choice (36,597)
by Stacey from USA

CB isn't my favorite album, probably in my bottom 3 of least favorites. However, the album does have some stand out songs and The One is one of them (pun intended, lol). That song would have been a better single choice. The song wasn't as soft as Boy, but provided a variety of Mariah's vocals, which is where I think MC is at her best. Plus, there were some great remixes attached to the song that would have helped. All in all, though, I really don't think it matters. That album was never meant to be anything spectacular chart-wise. It was damage control. After the Glitter debacle and breakdown, putting out an album was the best way to get MC on the talkshows telling her side of the story. The purpose of all that promotion from Mall of America to the Today Show, and her appearance on Oprah was to show the public that Mariah was healthy again, back to making good music. The music from that album was more for MC's therapy during her recovery then for the public at large. That said, it did sell over a million copies which was pretty good 10+ years ago. May not be a fav of mine, but I do enjoy The One, I Only Wanted, Irresistible (no rap version), and TTR.

Nick and Mariah's candy room (36,586)

Oh my, be careful MC. I've lost 60 lbs in just over a year and even I have to watch the candy or work out more to even out what I've eaten. So hard. Twix and 3 Musketeers are so hard to resist, lol. Stephen, totally true. I wish more MC fans had that "maturity". Thank you.

Stephen / The Dream (36,559)
by Stacey from USA

I'm not a great mind? *sniff, sniff* It's all good. I think this is one of those rare times where we do disagree. The Dream, I don't mind if MC works with the same producers. Look at all the amazing stuff she's done with Walter A or JD. It amazed me everytime the songs I'd hear from those guys that sounded so different from their previous efforts. What bugs me about the Dream is their sound is so generic. All his hooks sound the same. I don't mind one song from Dream and MC I guess, just not a whole album. With Christmas approaching, I am super duper excited to start playing AIWFCIY.

Stephen, it's all good, my friend. I know you are not the nasty type. Only Trey Lorenz is nasty, lol. I just, I don't know, think folks are dwelling way too much on one person's opinion. It's just not that deep to me because here's the thing: I love Mariah. I love her music. I always will. It doesn't matter to me where Desiree rates her singers, here or on a non-MC site. It doesn't change my love and admiration for MC's music. And that's why I say folks here tend to dwell too much on someone else's opinions. I mean, not to drag up stuff, but look at how some of us were treated when we didn't like Triumphant. Those of us who were dissed are MC fans "till the end of time". (Pun intended, lol.) Remember that? And that was MC fans going after other MC fans. So just chill and don't let stuff like this ruffle your feathers, lol. It doesn't bother me that someone rates MC bottom of the list on purpose or not. It doesn't and will never change the fact of how much I enjoy MC. It's as simple as that for me. Peace.

The Dream? I don't know / move on, folks (36,534)
by Stacey from USA
| |

One of the reasons I didn't care for Memoirs is all the songs sounded the same, because she worked with the same producers. The album for me got boring real quick, because it all sounded the same. I hope they are working together on a few songs. The best albums are when MC works with different people to produce different sounds that can still make for a cohesive album. Anywho, seriously some dwell on the opinions of others way to much. It's her opinion, not fact. There are days I love Celine more than Mariah. Uh oh, did I say that out loud? Who cares? Really. And Bob, there is no need to sacrifice yourself for Desiree, lol. It's her opinion. People need to let her opinion stand and not take things so personally. Some get so offended when someone posts they like another singer more than Mariah. I don't recall Desiree attacking us Mariah fans with her thoughts. So she likes someone more than Mariah. She can't post here because of that? Doesn't bother me. Doesn't change the fact that we all love MC. So, let her post and move on to something YOU like to talk about. Peace.

Right on with your thoughts, Davey J. I couldn't have said it better myself. Some tend to dwell on the opinions of others way too much. It is just her opinion, not fact. Nothing to lose sleep over, lol. Go ahead and pop in that favorite MC record of yours and move on. Keep it light, folks. Things ain't that deep. Peace.

Rhianna / Whitney (36,496)
by Stacey from USA
| |
|
|
Rhianna is a classic example of how technology can make you sound better than your raw talent suggests. Britney anyone? People said the same thing about Mariah until her Unplugged performance. I wonder if Rhianna would sound the same with all of her songs stripped down to acoustic levels. Doubtful. Sure, Rhianna has 11 #1 hits. But, to put her in the same class as MC or Whitney is ridiculous. There is no denying Whitney Houston made her mark on music. She is amazing. But, to suggest MC would have gotten nowhere without Whitney paving the way is also ridiculous. MC's talent trumps everything. She would have made it regardless of who came before her. Mariah is that good. Look at Celine Dion. She released her first album in the US the same year as MC's debut album. She didn't peak as fast as Mariah, but her talent was present and people eventually started to notice. The rest they say is history. All three singers are amazing and I love each of them for different reasons.

Well said. If anything, Rhianna is a copycat herself, imitating MC by including rappers in her pop songs. Anyone remember Fantasy ft. ODB? Sony thought MC was crazy and gave her static. The song did well and the rest is history. That song was well ahead of its time.

Jazz CD (36,393)

I would love for MC to work with Quincy Jones at some point. One of my all-time favorite jazz CDs is Q's Jook Joint. There is a song on there written by Rod Tempterton, sung by Tamia, called "You Put A Move On My Heart" that is just amazing. Check it out if you don't have it on your playlist. Great CD. It features Brandy, the late Heavy D, Herbie Handcock, etc.

Random thoughts are good since a lot of folks here tend to take things way to seriously. My family thinks I'm obsessed with MC since I traded and collected her CDs for 5 years. I told them they have no idea, lol. I'm quite tame to many fans out there. But seriously, I don't need to defend why I like MC. Her success speaks for itself. Numbers don't lie. Further, I like MC and see no need to defend that. It's as simple as that. Her music uplifts me, gets me in a good mood, etc.

It's about-dang-time Mariah got an award for songwriting. We all know she has an amazing voice, but what gets lost most of the time, is she writes these amazing songs she sings. Congrats to MC. Well deserved.

The difference with Benny, though, was the guy knew how to tell Mariah "no". He was key during TEOM's succesful run. Mason, well said (36,299). The throwback remix is what people want to hear. They want to hear that voice that's amazed us all for 20+ years, not some song where MC is guest starring on her own record. With TEOM, the whole campaign was built around "the return of the voice". It worked and Mariah delievered a stellar album fans/public were craving. Lee is right. We should give Randy a break before he's had time to work it. However, given the fact he's been a good friend for so long, I wonder if he'll tell MC "no" when she needs to hear it. Know what I mean?

enwar, thanks for the shout out. Daydream is my favorite album. My Ebay user name contains the phrase "daydream". My yahoo email address contains the word "daydream". I love to loose myself in my thoughts for a few moments, daydreaming. Haha. See a theme here, lol? So, when I found an avatar from ABMB video with the words "daydreaming" on it, I couldn't pass it up. I love that song, the remixes, and of course the album.

You're welcome. I'm hitting 35 in October and I feel great. Age is just a number to me. *smiles* You mentioned Tamia as a possible duet partner. I love her. One of my favorite songs of hers is off a complication CD she worked on with Quincy Jones called "You Put A Move On My Heart". I love that song.

Collection, first MC song (36,188)
by Stacey from USA
| |
|
|
I use to be a huge MC collector from 2002-2007. Some of my favorite items were Butterfly (Brazil Promo CD), Miss You Most, etc. I had so much fun collecting and met some neat people. It's how I came to find this website. The discography here was one of the most complete and organized collections I've seen. It was most helpful in determing legit releases vs. fakes. I miss those days, but the time did come to move on. I sold my collection to other MC fans who I hope are taking care of those items. The first MC song I heard was Hero. I remember I had the TV tuned to VH1 in the days where they actually played videos, lol. My back was to the TV as I was fixing the vacuum. Hero started playing and it was like a movie scene where I slowly turned around, thinking to myself, "who is that voice?" After that I was hooked. Even though her latest efforts may not appeal to me, I am forever grateful for her talents. She has an amazing ability to put all our feelings into a song we all can relate to. Daydream is my favorite album, hence the avatar, lol.

Gilbert, I enjoyed reading your bio, especially the last couple of sentences. Will, well said. I agree 100%. My apologies to you and everyone else here for dragging this on longer than it needed to be. However, defending respect to other views is something I'll always fight for. Rod, you give me too much credit on how much influence I have here, lol. Eric decides to post what he wants. He has decided not to post things I've written. It happens and I've learned from my mistakes. Eric did ask you to stop. Since only 4 pages of messages appear, I am sure it would be easy for Eric to email you the page in which he told you to cut it out. If I claimed something he did not do, he would be the first person to correct me. Others here would be quick to correct me too. Funny how none of that has happened. Your insults toward me or my career bounce right off me. I just "Shake It Off" because I know they are not true, and so does everyone else here. Peace.

Now That I Know (36,162)
by Stacey from USA
| |
|
|
I put in an old CD mix, you know, before mp3 players, lol, and found Now That I Know. In a CD full of ballads, this song often gets overlooked, but is a great uptempo classic. I almost wish she would have released it as a final single or even a b-side (ala Breakdown and My All). If I'm not mistaken, NTIK was also done by Civiles and Cole? The song is so similar to Emotions and MIH. Give that song a listen. I had forgotten about it too.

Even the webmaster got involved and told you to cut it out, and you know he rarely gets involved, unless he's had enough. I don't recall him telling me to change my attitude in any of my posts. He knows as do plenty of others that I conduct myself appropriately here. I see no need to own up to anything because I am not guilty of anything you've accused me of. My post (36,124) was direct and yes full of strong phrases, but no personal insults of any kind were ever thrown your way. You can't say the same. So, move on. I've wasted enough time on this already.
