About Edward from USA:

Re: Our minds work differently (81,147) (81,156) by Edward from USA
RJJ12, thanks for you kind words. Even though I listen to music mostly in the English language, my native language is Spanish and I have a few artists I love and listen to. My Latina version of Mariah is Laura Pausini, especially her older albums. She's Italian but has released all her albums in both Italian and Spanish since the beginning, she's huge in Latin America. Laura, just like Mariah, has lots of introspective and inspirational songs. Her voice is sultry, powerful and beautiful. My Latino versions of Mariah would be Cristian Castro and Luis Miguel. I loved me some Mecano, even though they're not together anymore. I'm actually listening to the album "Bueno" from Descemer Bueno, a cuban singer. Others I listen to are Maná, Ana Torroja, Chayanne, Marc Anthony, Ruben Blades, Miguel Bosé and the list goes on. I picked up a Spanish singer from music my father used to listen to when I was little, his name is Joan Manuel Serrat, his music is pure poetry about life and experiences. Making this list actually made me realized that I love artists who sing about personal life experiences and struggles.

Re: Madge's Ray Of Light is 20 years old (81,121) (81,124) by Edward from USA
B, he wasn't comparing, it's just his favorite album of all times for obvious reasons, it was great and the soundtrack to a beautiful time in his life. I don't think it should be compared to "Butterfly" because those are two different albums. Both are great, and people would pick depending on taste. I would pick "Butterfly" over it, but I enjoy "Ray of Light".

RJJ12, I didn't get the sarcasm, that's all. I've never been able to comprehend why a whole race/group should be judged just because some natural-born a*holes happened to be part of that race/group. But as you said, moving on. It's time for Mariah to record at least a whistle and release it, we need some music, like, yesterday. lol

Dubbing, why? (81,089) by Edward from USA
Sometimes I don't even know why she would get her performances dubbed since they were great to begin with. In this with Pavarotti she was better undubbed, it doesn't make sense.

Re: Mariah Carey: Just Be Good To Me (from Japan) (81,080) (81,088) by Edward from USA
Bill, I have to say in Mariah's defense that she did more than one take for the MTV Unplugged, they of course copied, pasted and filtered the audio to sound perfect which would considered to be dubbing as well. One thing that really left me flabbergasted was when I heard her raw recording at the Tattoo Club, I posted the whole mini concert once here. They sound nothing like what we get on the tape, of course she must've done different takes. Had Mariah had her boom by 1980, we wouldn't have ever found out, but technology got to her and what she could keep tightly controlled actually has come back to haunt her.

Re: Our minds work differently (81,053) (81,087) by Edward from USA
RJJ12, so if Andrew makes a racist comment, you're going to punish him by blasting the gays, because being gay is an offense and since he's gay or their advocate he would feel offended? I'm sorry but I don't understand that logic. So that means that when Sheila makes derogatory gay comments, the gays should make nasty racist remarks to get back at her because being racist is good? What's next, me making derogatory comments towards B because he just moved to Indiana?

Re: Mariah Carey: Just Be Good To Me (from Japan) (81,077) (81,084) by Edward from USA
Had Mariah not lipped the National Anthem, it would've been great. It was going well until she "mis-lipped" that part at the end and it was so evident. The recording was great and she looked lovely, but I wish she had done it live like most people before her. But talking about dubbing, since they couldn't actually dub a live performance, she did lip to the best of her ability at that time, and deserves credit for that.

He answered other questions though, friends talk all the time, they share whatever they want. Friends do.

Re: Mariah Carey: Just Be Good To Me (from Japan) (81,067) (81,068) by Edward from USA
It's rude if a complete stranger asked them, but coming from a close friend, that's different. There's nothing wrong with asking what happened to Mariah's voice, my friend didn't ask the question disrespectfully or Trey would've checked him. People talk shit among friends they don't talk to strangers. Had you asked the question, it would've been rude because you don't know Trey. My friends have been his drinking buddies and know his ass, so you can't tell friends what they can talk about or not. I'm not Trey's friend so I wouldn't ask that question. You know what's rude? Asking Trey why Mariah is using smoke and mirror and pretending to sing live when she's obviously lipping, that's rude. But asking what happened to Mariah's voice, something the whole world has talked about and know about, give me a fat effing break.

Re: Mariah Carey: Just Be Good To Me (from Japan) (81,061) (81,066) by Edward from USA
I'm not implying anything. He was just been evasive. He wouldn't say anything as I wouldn't have talked either had I been in his place. I just thought he would confide a little bit of information to closed friends, but he kept his lips tight. He rolled his eyes, and what my friend got from that was that it was evident that he knew or had his own opinion of what happened, but he wouldn't put his food in jeopardy by talking about it. If we know something happened to her voice and we don't know her like that, Trey is not deaf not to know when he sings back up for her regularly.

Re: Where did she go? (81,040) (81,057) by Edward from USA
To know that answer to that question you need to read a book call "Mimi L. from Asia".

Re: Mariah Carey: Just Be Good To Me (from Japan) (81,037) (81,056) by Edward from USA
I'm friends with two people who are closed friends with Trey, and he won't talk. I've asked questions to be asked to him, and I've heard his answers in recording, he won't say anything. One thing he says though is that he loves Beyonce and it seems to be he's worked with her. So nothing will come out of his mouth, he's on Mariah's payroll as a permanent employee, not only when she goes on tour. He used to be a heavy drinker, but has stopped because it affected his voice. My friend asked him: What happened to Mariah's voice? And his answer: he roled his eyes and dodged the question.

Re: Mariah Carey: Just Be Good To Me (from Japan) (81,026) (81,032) by Edward from USA
Mariah looks so happy, careless, and into the performance. She's relying completely on an instrument that is responsive so she's relaxed and in control. Her voice was epic even singing a song that's not considered difficult or straining. She doesn't look worried about the next note or anything, those were the days. I'm starting to believe Mariah might've gone through some surgical procedure in the 90's that didn't go quite right.

Reuben is not new to the messageboard. I don't support nor condone bullying or bigotry, but we shouldn't be that sensitive in light of lighthearted jokes. I don't know if you noticed, but some of the messages I posted towards Reuben are lines picked up from Mariah's favorite movie "Mean Girls". Some people shouldn't be so touchy or we're going to have to walk on eggshells here. The messageboard tend to be sometimes boring and repetitive or sometimes the mood is kind of dark. Let's joke a little, let's be silly a little, let's not take shit so seriously. It ain't that deep. I might not agree with some posts in here, but I do appreciate everybody here. I don't want to be part of anything where everybody thinks like me. It would be boring as hell. And I know this is going to come across as bullying, forgive me, but "Migrate" should've been a single.

Ruben, you don't have to quote every post you're replying to, just the old ones, as in posts made in 1844 and beyond.

Re: Reuben Walton (80,986) (80,988) by Edward from USA
Reuben, so you've actually never been to a real messaboard before? OK, you should just know that we here at MCArchives don't do this a lot, so this is, like, a really huge deal. We wanna invite you to post without making any references every day for the rest of the week. Just remember that everybody here when they post on Wednesdays they wear pink. If you need a pink shirt, there's a lovely member here who could lend you one, his name is B, but you have to give the pink-shirt back. Last time we did this, Andrew didn't return the pink-shirt back and now everybody hates him.

Holy Charmbracelet, you're not supposed to be giving hints to Reuben. You're life ruiner, you ruine people's lives.

Mimi L., if you lost your highlighter, we don't care, you're still empowered. You can go on posting. No-one comes out of nowhere, breaks the record for most messages posted on the board, and then leaves. Where are you? We miss you.

Andrew, If you don't love Licia, you should be banned from the messageboard. Licia might like Charmbracelet, but she's lovable. Wait a minute, oh no, I did not.

Eric, Reuben is just picking old posts at random and replying to them. I'm going to ask him three questions whose answers lie deeply buried in three unique ancient posts very hard to find. If he's really reading all those messages, he should know the answers, but I doubt it. Here it goes: Reuben,
1. Which song from E=MC2 should've been a single? (hint: "Rae Rae, Shawntae and Mae Mae")
2. What is Licia's favorite album? (sorry, no hint here)
3. What is the name of the song used against Andy to get him banned from the messageboard? (hint: Martin Luther King Junior)

Re: Mariah Carey's HIV+ sister (80,943) (80,945) by Edward from USA
Reuben, don't make me cyber-slap you into next week. Stating the date the message was posted won't cut it, just copy and paste the original message in quotes followed by your reply. Ok, let me give you an example:

"Andrew, Book of Lambs, Chapter (80,942)
Eddie Eddie Eddie. You remember that thing you said about somethin' in like 2014, the thing bout that Mariah thing? Well I didn't like it. Splain yourself, please."

And then my reply would be one of the stupidest movie lines I've ever heard:

Andrew, love is never having to say I'm sorry.

See how easy eat it is.

Reuben just has a lot of feeling (80,942) by Edward from USA
Reuben just wishes we could all get along like we used to in middle school. He wishes he could bake a cake filled with rainbows and smiles and everyone would eat and be happy. He's been replying to those old messages because he just has a lot of feelings. There's nothing wrong with that. With the flu and a few splashes the nostalgia has gotten to him. Te queremos, Reuben.

Re: Obsessed (80,899) (80,900) by Edward from USA
I think you're right. Obsessing over what one doesn't have any control of doesn't make sense anymore. I guess some of us have followed Mariah's career for so long that we keep wishing/waiting for something that maybe isn't going to happen. Even Mariah herself seems to gets annoyed when asked about new music. I'll gravitate towards Ed Sheeran's music in the meantime. His passion, lyrics and soul are the closest to what Mariah used to deliver. I think Camila Cabello's album is good listen. You can hear Mariah's influence on it.

Re: Obsessed (80,893) (80,895) by Edward from USA
That "I don't give a flying F" about what my fans think or want to hear from me really pisses me off. Mariah was always known for having the most loyal fans, but she won that by acknowledging us, not in a fake way, but actually making us feel that what we thought and wanted from her mattered to her. As time progressed, Mariah started getting lost in her looks and maybe in her head, grounded she never stayed. She looks great and healthy now, and I'm happy for her, but she doesn't seem to have any real passion for music anymore. We, her fans, would devour any music she puts out if it's good, or even if she wrote, produced or did background for somebody else. When Mariah put her signature on something, it was quality. Her part on "Every Time I Close My Eyes" was epic, "Where Are You Christmas", even though she never sung it, we could all hear Mariah all over it. The Allure songs she produced/wrote and sung background vocals for were great. "All Cried Out" is a great ballad. The quality wasn't only on her voice. I guess we make excuses to justify mediocrity a lot these days. That obsession with having write anything she sings or lyrically modify any song she's presented with must've prevented her from having way more hits and great songs than she has in her catalog. I don't see the big deal in having a song written by somebody else and make it her own with her own production and vocal arrangements, that also counts, Whitney did it, and she's done it with remakes too. What pisses me off is all this waiting to get something not up to part. So many opportunities to collaborate with other artists without having to feel like "Oh, I put something out and I flopped again."

I'm making mp3's playlist of those acoustic/stripped versions floating around. If anybody know of any other acoustic/stripped versions other than the ones that have been posted here, please let me know.
