About Edward from USA:

Re: Marilyn Monroe (66,039) (66,047) by Edward from USA
Mariah Carey is a fan of Marilyn Monroe's, she's not Marilyn Monroe, and she won't ever be in her category when it comes to what Marylin brought to the table. Marylin Monroe never pushed sexy, she exuded sexiness. She was glamorous, never trashy. Mariah came out of the cocoon and turned into a sexy and beautiful Bufferfly, never trashy. Even in the video for Breakdown she looks damn sexy. During the Rainbow era she was still a young woman, I don't remember any picture of her flashing her boobs as if she wanted to feed anybody. But now Mariah is borderline trashy. If there were a list of the top ten glamorous ladies in the music business, I don't think Mariah would be on that list. At least not the "Mariah Carey of the day" as she called a diva of the moment on an Oprah show.

Gasping - lack of air mix (66,043) by Edward from USA
I first noticed Mariah gasping for air when she started promoting "Butterfly". It was a shock to me since she'd always had lungs of steel. I'm not expert to say that it has to do with her implants, but it has always boggled my mind as to what the cause could be. That's when her unmatched effortless fluidity went down the drain too. Sometimes when I listen to some of the songs I like from Ariana Grande, I feel nostalgic of those times when Mariah could still sing a line without the worry look in her face. Ariana doesn't have Mariah's range or enunciation but she has that buttery tone Mariah used to have. I was listening to Celine Dion's new song "Recovering" written by P!nk, and and even though her voice definitely has changed, I wish Mariah had retained as much control of her voice as Celine has.

Re: Bathtub moments (66,026) (66,028) by Edward from USA
What scares me the most about the pics in the tub is the look in her eyes, like something isn't quite right. And the fake smile again with her head to the side. These pics are very unflattering. How many times do we have to see Mariah lying down touching herself? Not only in pictures but in videos. Is there anything ever left to the imagination? If this is the way she thinks she's going for a memorable comeback, she'd better think twice. I would've expected this type of behavior back when she was younger in her 20's. She seems to be going through some sort of a midlife crisis. When you have a fan who's been riding with you for 25 years ready to get off the wagon the situation is critical.

Have you heard it? (65,945) by Edward from USA
I would die if Mariah covered "Fields of Gold" by Eva Cassidy. It's an originally song by Sting, but I love Eva's take on it better. So soulful.

Randy, right to dream (65,944) by Edward from USA
Andrew, shut up. Randy has a "right to dream". Randy, keep on posting. I relate to your frustrations, but I would suggest one thing to you: Just don't set your expectations too high or you'll keep getting disappointed. I made my peace with the fact that even if Mariah slept with all Packer's money worth of humidifiers for 12 hours a night, her voice from the 90's would still never come back. It's gone. I don't entertain the idea or fool myself anymore. I do expect great lyrics and consistent decent performances/songs. One thing that has definitely helped Mariah's voice to be consistent is practice, she's said it before and it is evident now with her Vegas gig. I wish we could go back to when you would discover an album on first play, when we would only know the first single, and Mariah would come out just to start promoting the release of new material. I remembered unwrapping the Butterfly album, only knowing about Honey and nothing else, and then discovering each track as they played on. "Bufferfly", "Close My Eyes" and "Outside" spoke to my heart.

Re: Mariah Carey's HIV+ sister (65,877) (65,888) by Edward from USA
Andrew, I never suggested anybody should be marked, cursed or discriminated against for having HIV (all caps) however they got it. Had I thought that way, I wouldn't have brought Alison as a person not to judge by her HIV status. My statement about those who have contracted HIV by accident was to illustrate that not everybody got it just because they knowingly put themselves in risky situations. Remember that many ignorant people still think HIV is a thing that only happens to gay people. As for Alison and her HIV medications, believe me when I tell you this: In the US, especially in New York, anybody who doesn't have a job or has a reported annual income of $16,395 and below is eligible for free Medicaid, so she has access to her medications. I'm pretty sure most likely Alison wouldn't be alive if she weren't taking her medications. Morgan talks about creating a trust for her to cover her basic needs, but supporting Alison financially hasn't guaranteed her quitting her lifestyle. I'm pretty sure when she comes knocking because she really wants it, she'll find the support her needs.

Alison HIV status (65,869) by Edward from USA
I've always wondered why when they refer to Alison in the media they have to also bring the fact that she's HIV+ as if her status were some sort of curse or something to be ashamed of. It's like you're marked and should be marginalized. Many people have contracted HIV+ no necessarily because they were being promiscuous or hookers. Many have been born with it, others have gotten it by accident, blood transfusions and such. I do really think they do it to kind of let Mariah know her princess life is not as fairy after all, but that's ridiculous. But this is the world we live in.

Poor Alison Carey (65,818) by Edward from USA
I'm pretty sure that from the beginning of Mariah's career one thing that Tommy must've done was to make sure Alison was not going to be a problem by offering her some sort of help as a pre-emptive measure. Loving your family doesn't necessarily mean that you have to support a behavior that is detrimental to yourself thus affecting the rest of the family. Alison has made a decision to be a prostitute and now she's facing the consequences of the actions. I love my family and would do anything for them. One thing I wouldn't do is just sit and witness someone I love kill himself/herself little by little when professional and emotional support has been provided for that person to get better. You want to kill yourself, I love you dearly, but I won't be part of it. It is sad, but Alison has made her bed and she's now lying pretty on it. It is sad, but it's the truth. Mariah could put a million dollar in her hand, and she would still go back to the streets, so I don't see the point in Mariah helping her so she could walk the streets in nice shoes, weaves, and make up.

Re: Michael Jackson cover (65,804) (65,809) by Edward from USA
"Will You Be There", "You're Not Alone", in duet with Michael "I Just Can't Stop Loving You". She shouldn't ever touch "Gotta Be There". Chaka Khan's took that song and made sure whoever came after her wouldn't stand a chance. Just the same way Mariah took "O Holy Night" and made it hers. Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, and Celine Dion tried it, but they never matched Mariah's version.

Re: C'mon people (65,718) (65,719) by Edward from USA
Edouard, I do really think you must be on crack not to see what's going here. It's not only the desperate skimpy outfits, but the image she projects with her obsessive photo-shopping to make her look a certain way we all know it's not true, it's evident and obvious. And please do not compare the sexy Mariah from the Butterfly era to the this "look at me I'm sexy, don't you really see, with my humps, my loverly lady bums" trash. It's cheapening her. She doesn't need that. A fan is supposed to be supportive, but not ridiculously go with the flow and justify every ridiculous thing his/her idol might do. When Mariah releases some great music and her image is so damaged people won't give two shits about her, I'm pretty sure you'll have J.D. to blame. I'm sorry everybody, but I really had to let this one out of my chest.

So fake (65,710) by Edward from USA
In the name of all that's holy, who the hell allowed that horrible photo-shopped picture to be posted on her instagram? Everybody knows Mariah doesn't have a booty like that, and besides, whoever photoshopped it, did a horrible job. At least get a professional. That ass look so unnatural to me, but it seems to be people in the her bubble will say yes to anything regardless of the damage it could cost. I never thought Mariah would pull a Minaj with her fake ass.

Re: M upset? (65,688) (65,692) by Edward from USA
Licia, completely agree with you. When it comes her sister Alison, she doesn't seem to do anything to be worthy of the help that could be given to her. I have a friend who has a brother who is a doctor and lost everything because of Meth, and nobody could help him until he decided he wanted to change, and one day he came knocking, got on a program, and he's clean now for 5 years and back with his family that never stopped loving him, but a family that refused to enable him. They tried to get him him into programs against his will, and he always dropped or walked out in the middle of the night. Alison keeps doing the same thing over and over. I don't judge her because everybody has their demons they deal with, but she shouldn't expect support when she's behaving the way she does, and for such a long time.

Empire and the big song (65,690) by Edward from USA
Judging by the preview, Mariah will be playing Mariah with a different name on Empire. What makes me excited and concerned at the same time is the "Big Song" she's helping Jussie Smollett write and produce. Even though Empire is not as popular as it used to be, many people still watch it so they've kept it on the air. Believe me they would've pulled the plugged had the show been doing bad. So, it's time for Mariah to redeem herself for "Rush-Finity". I'm still sad she didn't make good use of Justin Bieber popularity.

Meet and not greet (65,684) by Edward from USA
I can understand if Mariah cancels a show because she's sick or has an urgent family situation. She's human, and it could happen to any of us. I don't understand though how she can perform and not say hi and take a picture with maybe no more than 20 people. Any of us calling out when we're sick is different from Mariah cancelling a "Meet and Greet" because many of those who purchased those expensive tickets probably traveled internationally for that specific event, and it's not like they could easily cancel or re-book a flight to have the chance again to meet her. I've been there and you're left feeling disappointed. People don't really worry much about whether they would get a refund, but the fact they've planned, taken vacations, gotten nannies and stuff to go to her show. If those who couldn't meet her briefly lived nearby, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't complain that much. But then again, that's life, and sh*t happens.

Dreaming of you - drifting (65,498) by Edward from USA
If Mariah is down with Nick getting ready to get their freaks on, and all of a sudden you hear "and then a hero comes along" and on top of that "with the strength to carry on". I'm sorry Mariah but that sound like a threesome to me. Nick must've felt very uncomfortable looking at this woman longing for "Hero" with high notes and all when he was already there sweating. It's evident that Nick has diarrhea of the mouth, but it's not less true that Mariah is freaky in bed. I hope for the sake of fans that "Right to Dream" wasn't played after the fact.

Almost Home - love making (65,489) by Edward from USA
I would've envisioned Mariah making love to "Almost Home", the title is more lyrically appropriate. "And then a hero comes along" would be kind of creepy. "I'm almost there, almost home" would be perfect for that. Another song that would definitely go with her love making would be: "River Deep, Mountains very High".

Best eras - in memoriam (65,413) by Edward from USA
Vocally: 1990-1995
During this era Mariah's voice was effortless, there wasn't any straining or struggle. It was perfect. Not only could she sing high, low and between, but her command of the whistle register was unparalleled. Little things she did to adorn some of her songs were out of this world ("Music Box" at 3:14, "Underneath The Stars" at 1:42). To me it was like listening the voice of an angel. Her voice was like butter and her fluidly was impeccable.

Visually: 1997
During this era Mariah's freedom was evident, and she was sexy without trying too hard. She penned some of her most introspective and beautiful songs ("Butterfly", "Close My Eyes", "Outside"). She still had it, but the butter in hear voice had left the building.

2005
This era proved that when Mariah has a great team, and she allows input and take some direction things can turn out right. This was a combination of Mariah's determination, good writing, good singing with less whispering, and great management. The music alone wouldn't have gotten this result.

Unless Tony Bennett was rapping on "Honey" and I hadn't noticed, their duet is called "When Do The Bells Ring For Me, Ring For Me".

Insider info (65,201) by Edward from USA
According to friend who supposedly has some first hand information, the title of Mariah Carey's new single is "Who Let The Girls Out" ft. Dolly Parton. The remix is called "Hanging... There" ft. Charo. I don't know if it's true, but I kind of believe it. I just hope for quality.

Re: Company (65,120) (65,126) by Edward from USA
Mimi L., it doesn't surprise me the fact that Mariah might have an extra yacht for her and her posse. She has a manager that seems to only manage her, and Mariah seems to like that type of attention, since you wouldn't see Cindi Berger or Benny Medina playing into something like that, she's paying for her exclusiveness. Also remember that Stella Bulochnikov comes with her own tribe too. With Mariah having all these people around, I don't know when she's truly able to have some intimate time with her boyfriend. And when I say intimate, I don't mean sex, that you can't have anytime and about behind any closed door, I'm talking about quality time when the kids are sleep and there's only them.

Re: Pettiness: in reverse (65,077) (65,093) by Edward from USA
I understand your point. But Mariah has a record deal with a label whose income could be affected by the way she manages her brand. They're investing in her, and she's expected to help created the environment in which both could come out with coins in their pockets. Mariah hasn't neither retired nor gone her own way, so for all of us fans, we expect good music. The thing is that when people don't like you they're not buying your music, so when she flops all the way to the bottom, fans shouldn't go blaming anyone. Since Mariah wants to do Mariah, she should be responsible for whatever happens, it would only be fair. The Emancipation of Mimi was successful not only for the music, but because they took steps for people to like her again. I don't think you can have it both ways.

Re: Nicki Minaj (65,085) (65,089) by Edward from USA
Completely agree with you Mimi L. At this point in her career and life, Mariah shouldn't entertain any of this questions, and the only way she could do that is putting them in her "Do not ask" list. When the "I don't know her" drama resurfaced after more than a decade, she should've squashed it right then and there. A woman with such an impressive career and accomplishments like Mariah shouldn't be that insecure. They probably told her she would be the only female judge, but then they changed their mind, so what? Had she had any legal recourse, she would've used it, but obviously it wasn't a clause in her contract. It's been 3 years since Idol, 15 year since Glitter, I think we could all agree that it is time to move on.

Re: Pettiness: in reverse (65,084) (65,088) by Edward from USA
You seem to be the ridiculous one. Mariah doesn't go looking for stuff, but she definitely is in control of what comes out of her 46-y/o mouth. When they ask her any question, they interviewer doesn't put words in her mouth. She also has the power to put certain topics in her "Do not ask" list, just like every artist does. Look for Ariana latest interviews and see if there's any question about Mariah. So don't come here throwing three lines and calling me and the people who agreed with me ridiculous because that says more about you than what it says about me. I'm not asking for Mariah to do anything, I'm just stating my opinion, but the writing is on the wall, and unless you take of your shades, you won't see it. To be a lamb, you don't necessary have to be a blind one. So loosen your push-up bra, maybe they're not letting you think clearly.
