I loved it. Mariah looks great. She practically looks just like she did in the "Beautiful" video. (Would you agree Otti?) I think Vegas will be successful as long as she sounds good. She seems happy and confident. I was thinking how cool would it be if Mariah released a new album, and she could sing new songs at her Vegas shows. I think that nice blue picture display on Ellen would make a great album cover.

Welcome back. You posted exactly what I said too. Wendy's probably so jealous. I bet she's like "Damn, how can I get Mariah on my show." Lmao.

The man is history, but by posting about him keeps him relevant. Who cares about him? Mariah isn't thinking about his dumb ass.

I'm kind of excited to finally see Mariah on a talk show. I hope it won't be short or rushed. I hate that. Her appearance on David Letterman last year was a disaster. I hope she comes out wearing something nice and acting normal and calm.

Exactly, I'm sorry if I took your post personal. Billy thank you for your post. Diana is one of my favorite female artists/singers. I have most of her albums. But many people have said that she had an average voice and always have to bring up another singer and say they sing better etc. For instance Patti Labelle. Patti did sing higher, but I prefer Diana. You're right about the songs you listed. Another good song that showcases Diana's voice is "One more chance". The runs are pretty amazing. People can say what they like about her voice, but the point is she sang and got far with what she had. She has one of the best music catalogs and had the best career. She's a legend. And that's why she's "the boss".

Diana may not have been a big vocalist or belter like Patti or Mariah, but I think she had a nice voice in the 70's or 80's. People went to her concerts because of her songs, not because of stage presence or shoes. She would be on stage and just have fun singing, something Mariah used to. In the fact of the matter is, people say Diana was a basic or average singer. Do you agree or not? She has one of the best music catalogs out of all the legendary female singers. Her songs were and still are timeless classics. Same with Mariah.

I was thinking maybe the reason Mariah is doing Vegas is because she wants to re connect with her fans here in the US and maybe try and win some old ones back. She probably just wants her next album to sell more.

Correction, 25 years. I don't think we should be worrying. If Mariah is actually doing Vegas, I'm sure it won't be permanent. She isn't giving up her throne anytime soon.

I hear you, I think "You need me" is a good song. I'm just not crazy for it. It's cool because that's like the only rock song Mariah has done. Every once in awhile I'll let it play and won't skip it. There's always at least one or two songs from one of Mariah's albums I don't like, as well as other artists. Thanks for your response. Shelly I agree, it's something how 24 years later the album still sounds just as good. Many people didn't know at the time that Mariah was a songwriter and produced her music. The album is amazing. 1990 Mariah was the best. I like watching interviews from that year. She was so shy and humble. Not to mention cute, but pretty of course. I'd like for her to write more songs like "There's got to be a way" and "Fly like a bird". Write and sing about war, racism, struggling and other things happening in the world. "The art of letting go" to me is the closest she got to "Vanishing".

Mariah's debut album (49,003)
by Abraham from USA
| |
|
|
For the past two days I have been listening to Mariah's first album. It's been awhile because the first one I bought was all scratched up. So I ordered a new one from Amazon and I've been enjoying it. It's my all time favorite album out of any of my favorite artists. In my opinion Mariah has the best debut album out of any female artist. The only song I don't like is "You need me". "Vision of love" is phenomenal, and one of her most legendary, iconic songs. "There's got to be a way" is a very special song. The lyrics are amazing. This song showcases her writing skills and talent. "I don't wanna cry" is a masterpiece, very 1990. "Somebody" is brilliant, catchy and her voice sounds great. "Vanishing" is one of her more personal songs and she shows off her amazing range. "All in your mind" is nice. "Alone in love" is dark and deep. Beautiful music, beat and lyrics. "Sent from up above" is nice, though not one I admire. Still a good song. "Prisoner" is cool. And I think it should have been a single. And last, my favorite fom the album, "Love takes time". I always repeat it more than once. Beautiful song. Mariah should sing this live one day.

Thanks for the response. I agree, retro worked great with that album. Hopefully she will do some again sometime? Otti I like you, but I don't understand your post at all. You say Mariah needs to "clean it up", yet she already has. She slayed all her Christmas shows and sounded the best she's ever sounded. So obviously she's doing something. Probably was vocal training. Also, she's lost some weight.

Same here, I'd love more songs like "Mine again", "I wish you knew", "Beautiful" and "The art of letting go". All of these are great. I also didn't really feel "E=MC2" and "MOAIA" either. I feel that"TEOM" and "MIAM" are a lot more mature.

You're right, I agree. Mariah is too big and legendary to do Vegas. She still has more to offer in the music business. Celine Dion fits Vegas well because let's face it, she doesn't have the star quality, succes or talent(song writing) like Mariah does. She's only really been big with the "Let's talk about love" album. I listened to her latest which is "Loved me back to life" and I think it's a great album, but it went no where. Where as an album from Mariah can, and would be a lot more successful and honored. Critics gave "MIAM" good reviews. So just think with an even better album, they would maybe praise her. I'm one of the fans who want her to score a hit and break The Beatles record. It's time. Also, I thought she looked a little slimmer.

I agree, what difference does it make, right? It's still her voice. I like your post Marissa. Those are some great songs. You have good taste in music. The song from Deborah Cox is one of my favorite dance/techno songs. I know it from the "Fired up" cd. I think Mariah would do a great job. I've always wanted her to do a dance type song. But she isn't into dance and techno music. Another song I wish Mariah would cover, or was hers is "Unbreak my heart" from Toni Braxton. I honestly think it should have been hers. But aside from that, I like your dream cover songs.

Mariah in Vegas / The Weekend (48,907)
by Abraham from USA

Mariah is way too legendary for Vegas. Besides, she's not even retired. Also, could her voice handle it? The whole thing is a no for me. As for The Weekend, I think not. Mariah probably doesn't even know who he is. He isn't that big, and didn't Ariana Grande just do a song with him? I'd rather her collaborate with someone more fun and interesting, like Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, Pharell, Bruno Mars or Sam Smith.

Others are putting two and two together and realizing what Mariah will more and likely will do. And what she is capable of. Her best songs she recorded will probably be on the next album. I want to wish Mariah and my two favorite lambs B and Shelly a Happy New Year. As well as all the other "true" fans. Let's hope 2015 will be Mariah's year.

New album / Madonna (48,848)
by Abraham from USA
| |
|
|
I only meant that Mariah should release an album up to the standard of the "TEOM". Not necessarily release one exactly like it. Although it would be nice to get some more 70's retro/soul type songs again. And as far as Madonna singing all live at her concerts is a lie. I saw some of her concerts from the "MDNA" tour and she lipped almost the entire show. She basically did more choreography than singing. Madonna has never been able to sing live. She's always lipped, and when she has sang live she sounded flat. I still like her though. She's "the queen of pop" and has a great legacy.

Madonna might be releasing an album next year. And if and when she does, I'll doubt she'll be competition for Mariah if Mariah were to have something out too. I mean kids these days listen to anything. I listened to the six leaked songs and they were terrible. If someone like Madonna who continues to release crap music and still sell, then for for sure Mariah can too. All she needs is a killer album like "TEOM" and I know it'll be a hit. I hope I'm not offending anyone who's a Madonna fan. I like her, I'm just making a point.

Re: Where do broken divas go? (48,840)
by Abraham from USA

Nope, I disagree. Mariah is too legendary for all that. Fans like me want to see her achieve more sucess. Mariah's only problem in my eyes is the diva behavior. Which to me is no big deal. All I would suggest is for her to cover up more. But the woman is going to do what she wants to do. I feel now that her voice has improved, she's not going to take any time off. She may even start recording new songs. Mariah is 44, would you suggest she wait untill she's 50 or 60 to release another album? She's not in her 20's people. Time is ticking, and she's not getting any younger. Even though technically she still is. All she has to do is keep working on her voice, image and take it from there. No one is hot right now. Taylor Swift's album went to number one, but it's already died down. I doubt anyone will be big next year, which is why Mariah should emerge and slay.

It's too soon for Mariah to start dating. That list is hilarious. All those men are out of Mariah's league, with the exception of Taye. I could see him and Mariah together. He's handsome and seems like a nice man with a good heart. Usher no, Jamie is a joke, Jermaine is her friend and Derek isn't thinking about Mariah. What they had is history, the man's moved on.

Next album (48,802)
by Abraham from USA
| |
|
|
I agree with Marissa. I'd been wanting Mariah to do some jazz for awhile now. But I'd like her to release another mainstream album. Another "TEOM". I'd like another singing from the soul song like "Mine again". I'm sure whatever she releases will be good. She knows she needs to really bring it. And when she does, she's going to slay. And I can't wait. I'd say it's time for a good, successful era.
