Eric, I couldn't agree more. As I said before, she's going to have a rude awaking if she doesn't do something to come across in a way people could relate to her or at least to her music. She says her fans are important to her, but when most of us that have been supporting her for ever don't feel that, it should be an indication that her reality is definitely distorted whether it is on purpose or not.

Pettiness: in reverse (65,064)
by Edward from USA

While many look for a thousand ways to justify Mariah's pettiness/cattiness and complains about what she went through while having a regular job that paid her what most of us won't make in our lifetimes for just sitting pretty and expressing her views, a job that if we're honest she didn't do that well, I don't understand the use complaining and whining about it, it is ridiculous, and it says more about her than them when everybody seems to have moved on. Especially when Mariah had always taken the classy "I'm not addressing you" attitude back when she was really popular. Mariah always kept things classy. Oddly, as she gets older, her attitude becomes more juvenile. I just hope there's something left when her bubble bursts because this Mariah, that in my opinion can't hold a candle to 90's Mariah, and not talking about the voice here, seems to be mentally aging backwards. I remember when fans believed and defended with teeth and nails the story about the magical push-up bras female fans kept on looking to achieve her size but never found. Mariah one day has normal boobs and all of a sudden she found some magical push-up bras that made her breast 10 times bigger. Just because Mariah said it or did it doesn't mean it is ok. You took your 18 million and could've done something about it if you wanted to, but you didn't, then shut the f**k up and go on. You're supposed to be a legend not a trashy reality TV star. If somebody is advising her that this type of attitude is what's going to give her a monumental comeback, she'd better think twice. People who know her on a personal level might like her, but most people hate this persona she portrays to the General Population. You're not Marilyn Monroe, these are not the 50's, wake up while you still can. Then we'll be sitting here looking for a producer to blame, a manager to crucify or a record label to demonize when her next project flops. And this is not about the quality of her music, she could have a wonderful album, but these days attitude/relatability and perception is very important. Sorry for the rant.

The Illuminati, really? (64,723)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
If we try to find shit on everything, we'll find that shit even if we have to make it all up to validate our assumptions. I'm pretty sure if Mariah were in the set of "Game of Thrones", the Illuminati believers be like: "Wow, it was true, look at the dragons, they look so demonic. Look at the settings, oh, did you did see how they chopped that man's head off, that must've been a sacrifice." I personally think it is ridiculous. The Illuminati supposedly has this huge power and control over the music industry that artists sell themselves to achieve success, well, I don't know what went wrong with Whitney. The Illuminati believers say, oh, Whitney was sacrificed so that Brandy could take her place, well, where's the success that Brandy has achieved? If Rihanna is so involved in the Illuminati, why did she have to basically go back to the drawing board when the concept she had for her album wasn't working out as she expected with her first three singles. Well, it seems to be the Illuminati people don't have as much power as some seem to think. Sometimes I laugh because I'm pretty sure people in the music industry play with these imagery on purpose. While some conspiracy theorist have their fix, they laugh all the way to the bank. If the Illuminati is real, and Mariah is in it, she should be having a huge comeback with like 5 #1's before they sacrifice her for Stella's daughter to take her place. Wait a minute, could the Illuminati give Stella's daughter some Kardashian type of talent, well, they don't even seem to have that power, maybe Selena Gomez will take her place. My cell rung three times, the Illuminati is here to get me.

Re: Record over 40's (64,663) (64,667)

Of course Mariah could hit the charts again, and possibly a #1, but she needs a banger, not a half-cooked mess like "Infinity". She needs to stop being stubborn and have some variety in her music, R&B is ok, but I don't think it will give her a hit right now. I really don't want to hear about her divorce on her New Record, MIAMTEC while decent was depressing enough for me. Mariah also needs to use those hot names to her advantage, not just rappers that people don't even know. Collaborate, get your name out there, and keep on putting out good music.

Happy to be part of the MCArchives crazy family (64,664)

May, thank you very much for your kind words. I appreciate your posts too. Randy, I always relate to your frustrations. Daydream and Music Box are like sugar to my soul. Mariah's delivery was truly effortless, buttery, soothing, and when going personal, she was the best. for me the song "Music Box" is a work of art. Unlike Aretha, Patti, Ms. Ross and many others who weren't as popular when the Divine Trinity was hot, Mariah has managed to keep a certain level of relevancy, but I don't think she's used it to her advantage. Cher came out of the blue and hit hard with Believe, but the whole album with songs "Run Away", "Strong Enough", "Dov'e L'Amore" were great, and I didn't even know Cher by then. Mariah, just like Cher, needs a great album with a different concept and formula. She used to be an innovator and that's why she made it out of the 90's and into the new millennium still banging. I would hate for her to put a new album out just to realize that she had neglected us to much that it turns into another MIAMTEC fiasco, that's the rude awakening she doesn't really have time for. I really want to be excited about Mariah's music again. Mariah's actitude when she was sexy but humble allowed us to relate to her and believe her music. If she came out with songs like "Making Happen", "Can't Take That Away" or "Hero" with that over the top "look at the rock on my finger" attitude, I don't think anybody would believe it or relate to it.

Andrew, she's a she (64,650)

Andrew, Mimi L. is a beautiful young lady. She has teased us with her photo a couple of times, but then took it down. So, your confusion has been lifted. Our Web-ality could be called, just because of the drama and stuff: "The Real Lambs of MCArchives". Andrew, no, you're not going to the be the white version of Nene Leakes, lol. Once again I want to say a thousand Thank You's to Eric for keeping this website up, and for dealing with all of us. I know it could be frustrating at times, since you have to read though all the madness, and usually remain neutral. You are a devoted fan, and I appreciate when you interact with us from time to time. Mariah Daily went down because it relinquished its control to Mariah's team. If it wasn't confirmed by Mariah's team or something positive, they didn't post it. And that's why people stop losing interest in it. It was once a great website. I do believe in balance, and when there's not balance or some sort of opposition, things usually turn into a distributorship and boring. I just hope that Mariah wakes up in time and realizes that she doesn't really have that many fans left, and that she's about to face a rude awaking if she doesn't do something to reconnect with what's left.

The weird weight loss (64,477)
by Edward from USA

To me it's very weird that Mariah has apparently lost weight, yet she seems so out of shape. Her skin and breasts look kind of soggy, and that white dress looks hideous to me. Whatever she did to her face, she shouldn't have. She didn't need it. With those fillers I doubt her face would slim down as we've been expecting it to.

MusicfanJ, I wish Mariah and her children the best. I'm not mad or anything. I still have her music to listen to, especially her catalog from the 90's since it was more honest and deeper to me. I think that when Mariah wrote her lyrics by herself or maybe with somebody else, her music had much more substance. When she started collaborating with four or more people to write a song things kind of changed. Mariah has the right to act the way she wants, but I don't have to like it or support it. I will support a good song/album though. I know she got it in her whether she still believes it or not. I won't spend my money on garbage like "Infinity' anymore. I know it is difficult to separate Mariah the person from her music, but I have chosen to do so. I do believe that we get what we keep supporting. As I say, I'll support good music, great lyrics, and decent videos. The rest I'll leave it to those who would buy and support anything she puts out even if the quality is not good at all. I'm still a fan, not a blind one though.

When is enough really enough? (64,164)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
I hate to say this, but it seems to be that either Mariah doesn't care or she's completely clueless about how she's perceived even by most of her remaining fans. She might be enjoying her diva act, but at the same time she's pushing away the few fans she has left. There was a time I was proud to say I was a fan, that was when her reputation was based mostly on her voice and not so much on her inflated boobs, when besides her music I also liked Mariah the person too. When she was sexy, a la Butterfly era, she was flawless, it didn't seem forced at all. She was eloquent and more focused on her music and more connected to her fans. When there was veil of mystery around her image, a veil that made her interesting and anticipated. Now I see this person I don't even recognize, a person who poses with a fake smile in most pics she's in. Mariah behaved more mature and centered when she was 20 than now that she's 46, something that doesn't make sense to me. Her lyrics were deeper. Daydream is an album a 46-year Mariah could put out without people thinking is immature for her age. It is as if everything in her life is happening backwards. I don't like to be associated with her publicly anymore. As a man, saying you're a fan nowadays put you in one of two boxes: either you're gay or there's something wrong with you. I just hope she realizes she needs to do something before she gets a rude awakening when her next album drops and she sees herself selling less that what it would take for her to keep a record deal. I'll always support her by buying her music, and going to concerts whenever possible, but that's about it. It's so weird how some fans want other fans to settle for less when the woman got us used to quality music for such a long time. Now the normal for a hardcore fan to be happy with is some mutation called "Infinity" and a terrible mess-remix in which she threw away an opportunity to capitalize on Justin Bieber new-found popularity. "Infinity", a song she dares to put along her 18 #1's hits. When a fan makes a better version of a song Mariah has created, there's something terribly wrong with her new formula. Just venting.

Deedre / Selena (63,229)
by Edward from USA

Deedre, Selena's death left us all Latinos, specially those who were living in Latin America at that time, in a state of shock. She was working on her English album, so sad she couldn't finish it. I love "I Could Fall In Love" and "Dreaming of You", I regularly listen to those two songs. Her songs in Spanish [...] great too and the ballads are soulful. If Jennifer had an iota of Selena's voice, she would be a real singer. Selena was a humble, gracious, and beautiful soul. She could sing and dance, and had a body to kill for. It's so sad she was killed by this monster she trusted because she was stealing money from Selena's fan club and Selena confronted her. Had she survived, Jennifer Lopez wouldn't be the Jennifer Lopez we know today. Listening to Selena's "No Me Queda Mas", beautiful, soulful and well-sung song.

I also agree with Andrew on this one. I'm just so glad Mariah was basically the first one to do. Had she pulled this stunt after Adele phenomenal performance, people would've ripped her apart. It was the perfect time for Mariah to let loose, and sing to her damn songs. She could've had her background singers in the back to help her though.

Dear Deedre, I wasn't really addressing your post about Prince. It was just my opinion on the fact that many fans have wanted for Mariah to pull a Prince and go on her own, I think that wouldn't be a good idea. After Prince went his way, with his legend status and all, he didn't actually have any successful album afterwards. It's sad he had to die to find himself back on the charts again. That shouldn't happen to legends like him.

The truth is usually somewhere in the middle (63,022)
by Edward from USA
| |

It's easy to blame others for whatever happens in Mariah's World. I'm guilty of having done that in the past. Jennifer, unlike Mariah, wasn't creatively picking samples, writing or producing her own music. She wasn't aware of what Mariah was recording, Tommy was. I don't think Tommy came to Jennifer and had a "Let's f**k Mariah up" conversation with her, most likely she was taken to the studio to record whatever she was presented with. Tommy, according to Ja Rule and Irv Gotti, was the one who basically rushed him in the Studio and into recording a video for Jennifer's song, they never mentioned Jennifer as having anything to do with it. Tommy then continue with his sabotage saga convincing DJ's not to play Mariah, that also came to the light. Tommy, in my opinion, used Jennifer as a pawn. I do believe Mariah and Jennifer are victims of this situation. Fast-forwarding about 8 years in, Jennifer has said very nice things about Mariah. Not once has she said anything negative. She even stated she was a fan. She even was on that radio show Nick had and gave them advice for when them babies came. Jennifer didn't start anything. But of course with Mariah's shade saying she doesn't know her without explaining anything, when they have obviously met, I would've said that she was forgetful too. Saying someone is forgetful is not shade. When Mariah was asked about Adele, she never said she didn't know her, but clearly said she hadn't heard her album. So this catty and childish "I don't know her" stuff has to stop. Mariah is a genius, but she's obviously focusing more on anything other than good music. And when she puts out songs out like "Infinity", people blame other people because Mariah is always a victim here. Many people talk about how Mariah should do Mariah. Well, let's see if the "super-lambs" alone can give her a hit. Had it been that way, and Mariah were this very likeable, humble and relatable persona, MIAMTEC would've sold millions. Adele is not necessarily what some would considered an hour-glass figured sexy vixen, but her humbleness, demeanor and good music have made her the star that she is. Had Mariah come out with "Hello", I don't think she would've had the same results. Why? Because music and name alone won't bring in the numbers. If people don't like you, you're f**ked. For those of you that would like Mariah to go the Prince way, well, sit down and wait for a new album in another 10 years. In the meantime she could have a successful reality show called "Keeping up with the Bulochnikov's".

Amber C, Mariah definitely uses body doubles for her videos. How do I know? Because I've seen it with my own eyes at least once. Walking about my business downtown Manhattan I saw a whole bunch of people gathering in front of a hotel, as if there was a celebrity there, when I approached, to my surprise, it was Mariah filming part of her video for Obsessed, the beginning actually. The lady you see signing autographs at the beginning of the video once out of the limo was a butt-double, correction, a body double. in between takes there she was, a very beautiful lady as tall as Mariah but definitely slender. She was dressed, weaved, boobed exactly as Mariah, the only difference was her face. Her legs were to die for as Mariah's of course.

Not letting go (62,408)
by Edward from USA
| |

Regardless of the docu-series being a hit or not, it's painful seeing a 46-year old grown as woman acting as if she were in high school. A simple "I know who she is, but I don't know her on a personal level" would've put the JLo situation to rest once and all. I really thought that after JLo had praised her many times, and after she was on Nick's radio show when he was still married to Mariah, that they were cool. But obviously Mariah is not interested in letting it go. The interview was mostly nice, but it's evident she definitely has made her career about this boob-inflated diva that sometimes I don't even recognize. She has definitely believed her own hype, and we all know what happens to those who do. Not matter how much we love her music, if people don't relate to her, her next album will sell way less than what MIAMTEC did. She's a musical genius, but this chair-spinning attitude has to go should she want to have some moderate success again.

I don't think Andy was trying to trick Mariah into anything. I would take Andy over Wendy any day. Guests don't usually walk into these interviews not knowing what they are going to be asked. It's well known every big name in the industry has a "Don't Ask" list. I think Mariah did well on the interview minus her chair-drama-spinning when asked about Madonna since what she said about her was very nice. Mariah should've put the Nicki/Jennifer issue behind her a long time ago. I hope she doesn't make it to 60 with the same drama.

When you feel the need, please don't (61,886)
by Edward from USA

It's very annoying reading some posts from people who enjoy telling other fans what to post, how to think, what to focus on, it is arrogance at its maximum. As if their post were going to chase anybody away or prevent them from posting what they think. It's been the same for almost 20 years on MCArchives. The beauty of the this board is the fact that there's a wide range of opinions, and that's what makes it interesting. I might not like some opinions here and there, but I appreciate the variety nonetheless. I personally think that when it comes to Mariah, good music just won't do, especially if it is at good as "Infinity" and its respective "Mess-mix". Let's not pretend that Mariah is just like the rest of us because she isn't, she's a celebrity, and when she signed up for fame, she knew what she was getting herself into. People do not respect Mariah because she's drowned her artistry and great catalog in this diva persona that most people hate, and that I can't even defend anymore. Now it is about her weave, boobs, makeup and whatever dress/shoes she's wearing at the moment. Months before TEOM was released, Mariah was being likable again and humble again, and people loved her back to #1. Def Jam worked on building that likable image again, but now she's perceived as arrogant even she might not be that way. Mariah was this artist who would put out her music and then disappeared, then come back again and it was refreshing. Her Butterfly-sexy is way different to the sexy she desperately pushes for on everything she does nowadays.

Rihanna's desperate, really? (61,771)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
How can Rihanna be desperate when she's about to surpass Mariah's record, she's still on her prime and 18 years younger? Rihanna is not desperate, she's evidently very popular. She doesn't have Mariah's talent, her music and catalog are not as impressive, forgettable and a thing of the moment, but she's putting music out there and people are buying and enjoying it. Even though Mariah nowadays relies a lot on titles, it wasn't always that way. Her artistry did the talking and still 26 years later she remains somewhat popular. If it's not Rihanna, it's going to be Katy Perry. Katy has 11 #1's and also seems unstoppable and has the Midas Touch. Mariah had her time, it's life. Records are meant to be broken, let's just be realistic here. The sooner we accept that Mariah's #18's records is going to be over soon, the better. Less pressure for Mariah and less pressure for the fans. It was a long run, she has kept those records for a long time. I don't personally stress over that anymore. It's going to be more difficult to break the One Sweet Day record though. I don't think Billboard should change her rules now because it is convenient for Mariah, that would be desperation. Mariah had the chance of crafting a decent song, potential #1 with Justin Bieber as popular as ever, yet she did something even worse than "Infinity". So, let’s not hate on other people's success, especially Rihanna's. She hasn't ever thrown any shade at Mariah. Out of all the other acts, I think she's the only one who has always given her credit and shows respect when talking about Mariah.

MIAMTEC vs Butterfly (61,433)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
I might get crucified for this, but I think that MIAMTEC and Butteffly shouldn't be put in the same category. Butterfly for me is on a league of its own. The lyrics, the melodies, the musicality on that album can't be compared to any other album but Daydream. MIAMTEC has some good songs, but it is also kind of depressing and not that cohesive to me. I rarely play it anymore. I think that when Mariah and Nick decided to have a divorce, she scraped most of the songs of the original concept she has to reflect what she was going through with him and the album suffered from that. Butterfly is pure art, not only lyrically but musically. Mariah did really conveyed her truth like she hadn't done it in any other album and the outcome spoke for itself. When I have played Butterfly to people who haven't ever heard it, they all think it is something fresh and new, that's how good it is. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy MIAMTEC when it first came out, but I was also disappointed with some of the song choices. For the first time, in my opinion, Mariah took on a huge and soulful classic favorite of mine, One More Try, and basically mutilated it. I wished for that day, but when it came, it was bittersweet. MIAMTEC unlike Butterfly is dated and the lyrics are complicated rather than poetic. If James could be her muse for the coming of another Butterfly, I would die a happy fan.

Andrew and the Master Saga (61,143)
by Edward from USA

|
Andrew and Eric, I completely agree with both yours posts. Had Juan Manuel from Spain told his story and what it meant to him meeting Mariah, I would've had a little bit more respect for him, even though I thought it was very unnecessary to go into such details to justify Mariah, make Tiina look like a heartless ass, and make him look like he deserved more from the meet and greet because of what he had gone through. Reading Juan story strangely didn't make me feel anything, and I must admit I usually relate to sad stories like his, they usually make me sympathetic, and I'm also very compassionate. I didn't feel anything because for him to have gone through all that, he didn't show any compassion toward Tiina. He was like: Tiina, get over it. I don't know you personally and I don't care about your feelings, but I have a sad story to tell and I'm more important and much more of a fan that you'll ever be. Tina got a new dress, and got dolled up for that moment, but it wasn't free, she paid what would be considered an arm and a leg to meet her idol, she shouldn't be treated as vain or heartless for that. I would be ashamed if I had to look for sympathy by showing a missing leg or missing teeth to draw attention or to myself, at least that's what I get from his post. Tina, I do also think you deserved much more than an effing rushed picture. As simple as that, and don't let anybody make you feel ashamed. You paid for a meet and greet, and you got cheated. I hope someone from Mariah's team is reading this board and make arrangement to give Tiina what she rightfully deserved, at least a decent picture.

I'm hereby declaring myself a goat. How dare she? First she abused the rights of an innocent unicorn on the set of the video for "Touch My Body", then she dared to ruined many people's lives by revealing what was at the end of a rainbow in a song, not even a complete song, but an interlude, that's many colors left behind, and now she wants to go for the mini white elephants? Great album titles (60,702)
by Edward from USA
| |

"Tentacles" would be a great name for Mariah's next album. It is like saying "I'm reaching out the masses with my songs" ("Tentacles"). A dual album called "Mermaids and Unicorns United" would also slay. The Mermaid disc would be for the girls and the Unicorn disc would be for the guys. These titles are very inspiring and different. Also "Mermaid Supreme" and "Fire on my Dress" would call people's attention. It is about thinking outside the closet, I mean outside of the box.
