About Edward from USA:

Stacey, B: a toast to the daydreamers (57,002) by Edward from USA
Daydream to me is her magnum opus. It is the perfect blend of Pop and R&B. Mariah was young but she was deep with most of her lyrics. The nuances of her voice were beautiful and her delivery was effortless. If you asked me how many times I have listened to "Melt Away", I would tell you a "a million times". I was addicted to Daydream. My mom died back in January 1995 unexpectedly, I isolated myself from everyone, the only thing I had was a "Daydream" cassette that broke with so many plays, rewinding and flip-overs. Her voice, her passion, her delivery, her lyrics, all resonated with me and helped come out of the worst moment I've ever experienced in my life. "Daydream" and "Butterfly" are two masterpieces; they should be in the list of "Albums you must listen to before you die". I have come to terms with the current state of Mariah's voice, but I'm always hoping for the same passion in her lyrics and production. I know what she's capable of, she's shown us time and time again. A toast to "Daydream", Mariah and those who love the album.

B, Andrew (56,994) by Edward from USA
Hi B, I've been fine. I hope you're doing great. I still read most posts here on a regular basis. I'm actually looking forward to some new quality music from Mariah, and of course the Christmas shows and movie. Andrew, your post about "Petals" was great, I loved it. I also feel the song is very underrated. That was Mariah lyrically at her finest. I miss those types of lyrics from her. I can only compare it to "Butterfly", my favorite song from her catalog.

Re: Regina George in a lamb's clothing (56,946) (56,956) by Edward from USA
Mimi L., just wanted to say that even though I don't post much anymore, I do really enjoy your posts because to me you're a great fan. Thanks for putting "The Expert" from the LaLa Land in her place. She's become a bully, and the sad thing is that many people here agree with her ways. Several nice fans don't post here because of her ways, but anyway, that's what bullying is all about, isn't it? I can't stand a bully or people who go on the thesaurus, copy a few words and then put up a couple of sentences thinking they are coming off as intelligent. This is the second time you've put her in her place, you've done it gracefully. There's nothing like crushing a bully with simple words. I've always thought she's just a grumpy old woman sitting on a rocking chair with nothing better to do than praise herself and push her opinion as law.

When Mariah really cares (56,038) by Edward from USA
I was just listening to "Almost Home", and then I switched to "Infinity 4-people crammed mix" just to give it the benefit of the doubt again, but I then felt sad. How could the person who put out "Almost Home", also put out "Infinity" and its respective remix? "Almost Home" wasn't a hit, but nobody could ever say it wasn't well-produced and on point lyrically and vocally. Sometimes I wonder if it's only me that notices the lack of quality and messy production on "Infinity" and "Why You Mad". Am I a hater for not liking something that is evidently a mess and a desperate attempt at creating something decent? Do I have to lie to myself because that's what "real/true" lambs do? Now that things have calmed down a lot with the media criticizing her, I think Mariah should be more serious about anything she releases. This is the time for Mariah to step it up and create quality music. I'd rather she got an Oscar for writing a wonderful song, than another #1 for writing just a popular song. The problem with "Infinity" is not necessarily that the remix has four people in it, "Lil Love" has Mariah, Bow Wow, Bone Thugs and Harmony (each one of the 3 guys has a verse) and JD in it, and to me it is a great song, nothing cheap, messy or desperate about it. That's the Mariah I want to experience more.

It really gets on my last nerve (55,016) by Edward from USA
It really gets on my last nerve when some [censored] demand that biracial or multiracial people pick a side. All of a sudden, and according to some racist [censored] of past and present, the outcome of white mixed with any other race turns out to be whatever the other race is. Well, if you're mixed, you are [censored] mixed, period. If you're white, you're white, if you're black, you're black. Get over it. It's like we have to be in the "pick a race" game to be accepted. Well, Mariah Carey is a mixture of races, why should she pick one to satisfy any demography? The one drop rule is ridiculous at best. At the end of the day even if she picked one, people would based her race on how she looks on the outside. Christina Aguilera is white and latina (a mixture of races), yet nobody ever refers to her as black, maybe latina, but she's considered to be white. Had Mariah looked like Hale Berry or Alicia Keys, life would've been easier for her, but her skin is white, while her racial make up is a different stuff. Mariah Carey is neither black nor white 100%, so why should she be forced to pick a side. Why should she deny her mother or father just to please some stupid people? Are we still dealing with this nonsense in 2015? Mariah Carey is a person, period, a beautiful one as she is. A beautiful mixture of many races, and they can't take that away from her.

Andrew / Eric / Mimi L., could you please? (54,520) by Edward from USA
Andrew, his name is Eric. Obviously he doesn't like your posts, but he's not abusing his power as a dictator to vanquish you just because he doesn't agree with your approach. Had he wanted to ban you from the board, he would've done it a long time ago. Just remember that Eric is also a fan, and even though he rarely posts, he, just like the rest of us, has an opinion, and if there's a person who deserves to vent from time to time after 16 years, that's Eric. So, don't be dramatic and stop asking Eric to block you, he obviously doesn't manage this website like a despot. Many posters here might not like you, but there are many of us who do. So next time you'll ask Eric to block you, I'll have Mimi L. sent you a complimentary package with 5 bottles of Mariah's "Butterfly Pink drink", 3 of "the dresses" she used in the Elusive Chanteuse tour, 3 bottles of her "nail polish" and your very own autograph picture of "Nick Cannon". I hope Eric doesn't block me for writing this message. See you guys in a couple of months.

Time for break (52,742) by Edward from USA
I've been posting here for many years now, but now I'm also taking a break. For those going to Vegas, I hope you all have a great time. For those who aren't afraid to state your opinion (positive or not so positive), don't let anybody bully you anonymously behind a computer screen. It is very easy being "Super Heroes" wannabe's when nobody sees you and when the "Save the World" superpowers are just schizophrenic voices inside their heads. Have a great summer.

The hype (52,741) by Edward from USA
One of the reasons I think some fans are disappointed about "Infinity" is because it didn't live up to the much hyped up publicity behind it. Since it was going to be only one new song, many fans thought it would be pure brilliance, not just an OK track. Mariah hyped up "Infinity" as she did "Obsessed" back then, both tracks are dissing tracks, but "Obsessed" had a better beat/hook and structure. The difference is that had "Obsessed" tanked, we still had a whole album to look forward to. It isn't the case with "Infinity". Now we have to wait for another two years before Mariah comes out with a decent album. Taking a risk with a track like "Infinity" without a great video to compensate wasn't a good idea. Obviously Mariah hasn't shed the pounds for a Honey-like type of video, so let's not expect that magically she's going to come with a Hearbreaker/Honey type of production, but rather something rushed like "H.A.T.E.U.", "Bye Bye" or "You're Mine (Eternal)". I'm just disappointed that such a potential title went to waste like that. I hope the laryngitis, lack of sleep, earpiece, divorce won't turn out to be an excuse once again should her Vegas debut don't go right.

Randy, Gisselle / I guess (52,736) by Edward from USA
I guess we got hooked on Mariah when her music and delivery were pure quality, so we keep expecting what she got us used to. You can't just experience the 90's euphoria about Mariah without having lived those days, not matter how many times you YouTube it or listen to her back catalog. It was a moment in time that those who didn't experience it won't be able to fully understand it. The complain was about great music that she couldn't replicate live, now it is no so great studio music she can't still replicate live. So where do we go from here? Well, I guess the faster we realize that things aren't going to get better, the easier we could let go off those high expectations and just buy her music and support her when the music is at least good. At this point I feel that it is pointless having to defend her by being in denial about what we clearly know. When people think that Mariah is trying to imitate Ariana, then there must be something very wrong. Putting them together in the same sentence is considered acceptable. Mariah might not be as relevant as the super lamb thinks she is. And for those cursing out loud, having a big nasty mouth won't necessarily make your point of view any more valid. Take a chill pill, it ain't that deep, you might suffocate in the middle of your diatribe. Peace out.

LC / I loved it (52,619) by Edward from USA
LC, I know this is not directly Mariah related, but it is indirectly because I'm pretty sure you draw a few new words from Mariah's lyrics while growing up. I did love your essay and I voted twice with different email accounts. I did it twice because I think you did a great job in just a few paragraphs. I definitely echo the sentiment of your essay. Good luck.

Abraham / my thoughts (52,589) by Edward from USA
Abraham, I hadn't conveyed my feelings on "Infinity" because I honestly didn't even know what to say. I listened to it and I was like: What the hell just happened? For some strange reason I felt like listening to "Don't Forget about Us" after. I gave it a few more plays and I still wasn't feeling it. It's definitely not single material. The production is messy as if it was a rushed project. "Infinity" doesn't flow smoothly, the different takes are evident. By no setting high expectations I guess I thought I would be pleasantly surprised, but I wasn't. She picks one song, just one song to be added to a collection of #1 hits, and that song comes out to be just a filler. For the remixes I hope she doesn't default to the rap formula, there are many great artist she could collaborate with. I hate to say it, but "Triumphant" vintage remix is way better than "Infinity". I wasn't expecting perfection, but I wasn't expecting mediocrity either. I'm happy to know though that non-fans seem to like the song. I hope she cracks the Billboard top 15, but unlike other times I'm not checking on iTunes or on the charts. I won't force myself to like something that I don't obviously like just because it is a Mariah's song.

The Tattoo Club session from 1990's live (52,199) by Edward from USA
I got my hands on the Unplugged mini concert Mariah gave at the Tattoo Club back in 1990. Here's the track listing:
1. Introduction (1:25)
2. Love Takes Time (4:03)
3. Someday (Closer To All Your Dreams) (4:26)
4. Vision Of Love (3:44)
5. Mariah introduces Richard Tee (0:36)
6. Vanishing (4:54)
7. Don't Play That Song (3:09)
Since this hasn't been released commercially, I don't think it would constitute piracy if I share it with those fans who would like to listen. Those interested, let me know with an email where to send it.

The music / "Infinity" and beyond (51,759) by Edward from USA
I don't care much about whether the cover is photoshopped or not, I do care about the music. The original #1's offered not only the 15 songs that had gone to the top spot back then, but also a few new/reworked tracks to entice people to buy it. In an era where most people are not buying physical CD's/singles anymore, I doubt people will hurry to download songs they already have. I'm only buying lossless digital songs, flac to be exact, so I don't think I'll be buying songs I already own for the sake of supporting Mariah just for one new song. I'll definitely be buying "Infinity". Only if she releases a deluxe version with at least three new tracks, I'll be buying the whole thing. People should remember this is not a new album, but a compilation. Just buy "Infinity" if that's what you like. And stop setting ridiculous expectations, that's how people get disappointed. I think there will be deluxe version, so let's wait and see.

Abraham / goats (51,572) by Edward from USA
Abraham, Mariah will be channeling goats for her Vegas shows because she's looking for authenticity. Channeling a copycat of herself might render her voice sounding like Micky Mouse on helium.

Bill / the woman with Illuminati earrings (51,559) by Edward from USA
Bill, you killed me. I can't stop laughing. According to a fortune teller I consulted yesterday, Mariah's sacrificing a goat to the Illuminati right before every concert in Vegas. According to the ritual she would channel the high notes capabilities of the dead goats so she could sound like did back in 1990-1996. They were going to use Jennifer Lopez as a tribute, but Mariah said she wouldn't be able to channel any vocal acrobatics from her, so she's safe for now.

I have a feeling / See You Again (51,545) by Edward from USA
I have a feeling that "Uptown Funk" at the most would sit lonely behind "One Sweet Day" as the second longest running single with 15 weeks. Airplay and sales for that single are already decreasing. "See You Again" sits at #10 and it's expecting to move over 400,000 digital downloads by next week, so it could potentially dethrone "Uptown Funk" from the top spot living it hanging with Mariah and her other five friends at 14 weeks. If it doesn't happen next week, "See You Again" would definitely kick "Funk" into the #2 position the week after. "Blurred Lines" almost doubled Bruno's effort in airplay, but the competition was tougher then. Rihanna's singles have been lackluster, so I don't see any #1 coming from her anytime soon. I hope none of her records get broken on 2015. If she does things right in Vegas, with the reissue of #1's, a new single, and a Christmas movie, 2015 could be a wonderful year for Mariah. I'm a little nervous, but very hopeful.

Good things are happening / Andrew (51,538) by Edward from USA
I am happy to know Mariah is doing exactly as I said she would. We're getting pieces of information that are killing us softly. I'm not mad about Mariah using that picture from 2005, we all know she's not photoshoot ready now, and that picture from 2005 resembles the Mariah of today, it is as if she never ages. Andrew, "Mariah Carey is not a religion, so stop being fundamentalists", exactly what I've said before about the cult-like mentality of some fans here. If there's a rumor about Mariah, it is just a rumor, don't believe it. If there's a rumor about Nick, it suddenly becomes true and evidence is pulled out of people's asses to substantiate the insanity. Some even swear they saw him sign the book deal. It is so hypocritical to entertain the idea that Mariah could date, but Nick has to be celibate till the divorce is done. Are we in the Middle Ages? I am happy they are not together, I prefer to see Mariah happy than miserable in a dysfunctional relationship. Mariah and Nick can date, have sex with, kiss and hug whomever the hell they want.

Orkun / possible duets (51,314) by Edward from USA
Orkun, I also think she's cooking something with other big names, but reworking her #18's would be too much and not enough time, unless she's doing cut and paste which I hope she isn't. She definitely has an ace under her sling, we may be pleasantly surprised.

Just relax (51,310) by Edward from USA
I know that the anticipation is killing us, but we need to take a chill pill and relax. Vegas people are not amateurs, they didn't just throw a project at Mariah for her to run. They know what they are doing, and they also have their own promotional plan, it's not up to Mariah, the promotion is stipulated in her contract. I know Mariah needs to look stunning, but I rather have her singing well consistently during her Vegas run, that's my main worry. She's known for her voice, and the audience will judge her by her talent. I'm hoping she's rehearsing those songs that have turned out to be too difficult for her to sing. This is the time for Mariah to redeem herself by coming on stage with confidence, showing the audience why she's the last diva standing. I have the feeling that we are going to be bombarded with lots of surprises that will start the engine in preparation for her first show.

Alain / Weakness of the Body (51,305) by Edward from USA
Alain, I don't think it would be appropriate for Mariah to include a song about Osteoporosis in the new edition of #1's. People would think she's trying to gain sympathy due to her shoulder injury.
(Thursday 2 April 2015; 2:21)
Maybe, just maybe (51,304) by Edward from USA
Maybe Mariah is still looking kind of bloated because of the medication she's taking for her injury. I noticed that when she started promotion for "#Beautiful", back in 2013, she looked stunning, as thin as she was when she sung "AIWFCIY" at Jimmy Fallon. Then she dislocated her shoulder, and started gaining weight. I personally think she shouldn't go to Vegas looking the way she looked on "The Elusive Chanteuse" tour, but if she can't help it for medical reasons, I completely support her taking care of what's most important, her health.

It's just sex, chill out / Glitter (51,259) by Edward from USA
The fact that Mariah may be having sex with Brett doesn't necessarily mean she's going to marry him or that she's dating him. They are just having fun, neither of them is underage, so they can have as much fun as they want. As for those who consider Brett not suitable for Mariah because of his looks, imagine Mariah without the following: extensions, eyelashes, corset, and makeup. I'm pretty sure if Brett gets a facial, a haircut, a manicure, a pedicure, and put some make-up on, he would look very presentable. Nick was very presentable, but look what happened. Looks can be deceiving. When you only concentrate what's on the outside, that's usually what you get. Most people wouldn't believe whom Hugh Jackman is married to, but they've been together for nearly 20 years, with a solid marriage of 16. All that glitters isn't necessarily gold.

Carpool karaoke / Andrew (51,215) by Edward from USA
I also think that the carpool thingy was meant not for Mariah to be belting or even trying to do that. I think they are slowly working on getting people to like her again, just like they did during TEOM era. If Mariah had started singing/showing off in the car, it wouldn't have been as funny as it was. Andrew, at this point I think Mariah has already gotten the memo. She knows that if she doesn't come back with a well-put together plan, a decent video, and a good song, she'll be done. The competition is tough, and she knows very well people are not catering to "You're Mine (Eternal)" types of songs. So, before we start criticizing her for about anything, let's give her a break to see what she has to deliver once these Vegas shows begin and the new single and video come out. I think it's only fair. I agree with you though that in case she should use some of her money for a decent video. It would be an investment in her own career.

Mimi L. / fun times (51,199) by Edward from USA
Mimi L., sometimes we take ourselves so seriously here that we forget how fun it is to be a fan of Mariah's. I'm glad you laughed at my joke, that was the intention. I hope she stops swinging though, we need her arm fully functional for Vegas.
