Team (47,149)
by G.G. from USA

|
|
In the video interview from Australia that was recently posted, Mariah talked about having the "right team around her". I completely agree. She needs a strong team around her to help her get back to the place she once was. She can't do everything herself. When she tries to do everything herself, well, we see the results and they're not good. I'm not ashamed of telling the truth. I would be ashamed of myself if I was the one helping to perpetuate lies and delusion.

When you said "her fan base seems to enable the delusion more than help the cause", you hit the nail on the head. Mariah has surrounded herself with "yes" men far too long and there is no one around her telling her the truth. I will always love Mariah, but she is ruining her legacy by doing subpar shows. Back in the day she could get away with not dancing and minimal to no stage production going on around her because she had that beautiful mesmerizing voice. Now, she needs lots of dancers, pyrotechnics, videos playing on the big screen etc, to help cover up the fact that she doesn't have that voice anymore. Look at Cher. Cher isn't a great singer, but you leave her concert feeling fully entertained because she puts on one hell of a show. Mariah needs that now, she needs major stage production, and she needs to retire that tired, played out chez lounge that she lays on.

Lol at "selfless effort". Mariah is being paid, all caps. She's not doing these concerts for free. If she doesn't step it up with the vocals and stage production I think this might be her last big tour. Her voice is gone, she needs something big going on on the stage around her to distract from her lip synching and bad live vocals. Some lambs don't want to see what's right in front of their faces. The Mariah vocals of the 90's are gone forever. Sad to admit, but true.

First night of tour (47,094)

I see she brought out the chez lounge again to sit and lay on. Sigh. I've seen multiple clips online from Tokyo. Some songs sound great, and exactly like the CD version. Why oh why can't she do alternate recordings? That way it's not completely obvious she is lip synching. Other songs were live and sound awful. I feel bad, but I think this tour is going to be a disaster. Other blogs have already started tearing Mariah apart and saying she's going downhill like Whitney and Michael. Makes me sad.

Why is everyone acting surprised? (46,653)
by G.G. from USA

Mariah told us all when the new album was first released that it reflected her life and what she had been going through. She gave us a lot of subtle hints. Now everybody is saying that they hear certain things in the new songs that relate to the possible divorce and problems in her marriage. I guess some people have to be hit over the head with a hammer to get it.

My 2 cents (46,316)
by G.G. from USA

I sort of liked Nick when they got together because he seemed to make Mariah so happy. Nick talking about his other sex partners was disgusting, especially Kim Kardashian. Then when he made the comment on the red carpet about "marrying well", it made me think he's in it for the money. He made that comment while he and Mariah were separated. That, to me, is very telling. I aint saying he's a gold digger. His father's comments were definitely directed towards Mariah. He just doesn't have the guts to admit it. He wrote a book? He definitely had to have a ghost writer, his Facebook posts are a mess. Broken English and all.

Mariah may get to perform in Taipei after all. I just read an article that said Celine Dion postpones Las Vegas residency and cancels tour in Asia due to husband Rene Angelil's health issues.

Mariah's new manager (45,841)
by G.G. from USA
| |
|
|
Billboard is reporting that Kevin Lyles is Mariah's new manager. I think that is great, if Mariah is willing to listing to promo and business advice. If she is no longer willing to listen to her manger/label/PR people then why have them? Like it or not, Mariah's most successful times have been when she had great managers and label execs behind her, Tommy Mattola, Benny Medina etc. It's blatantly obvious that no matter how good an album is, if you don't have a strong, capable manager and label (that you listen to) behind you, then your album might flop. I hope that MC isn't at a point where she won't take advice from her label/manager.

Tone (45,352)
by G.G. from USA

SS sounds like the one who is "pressed", not to mention very angry. The tone of your message is aggressive and rude. If you, or any other lamb, really thinks sales and promotion won't affect future projects then you are delusional. Mariah Carey is a brand, and if people lose faith in that brand and the brand becomes tarnished the offers and opportunities won't come as often or as easily. People/companies will distance themselves from her, because nobody really wants to collaborate or associate with someone they feel is a flop or someone who they think isn't going to promote a project. Mariah isn't even using her Instagram, Twitter or Facebook to promote the single or album, which is free and a very basic way of promoting. As far as fans promoting the album, I and many others have. But, if the artist themselves isn't helping, there's not much we as fans can do.

I agree with your post almost completely. I've lost enthusiasm for this album too. From Triumphant until this very day, this entire "campaign" has been a disaster. All this ridiculous mess has taken away my excitement for this album. Mariah can't even be bothered to do call in interviews to radio stations from her home. That is just lazy and sad. Hopefully she'll care enough for her next album to promote it properly and learn from the multiple mistakes she has made with this one.

New single (45,291)
by G.G. from USA
| |
|
|
YDKWTD was released on July 1st as an official single. Today is the 9th. There is still no audio or lyric video on YouTube or Vevo that would help the song chart better. Mariah is worth a half a billion dollars, if the label won't pay for these things she definitely can afford to do them herself or ask a creative lamb to do it for her. Instead of promoting the single properly I see her posting sexy pictures and pictures promoting her Butterfly drink. I really think she doesn't care about selling any more copies of this album or single. I'm over this entire album debacle. Hopefully she gets her crap together, learns from her gigantic mistakes and does a better job next time. Here's hoping.

So today is the day that the new single was sent to radio. I haven't heard about one radio or tv interview, appearances or performances to promote the single. I understand that if the label doesn't believe in the album and doesn't want to spend money promoting it that it will make it harder for an artists to be "seen", but there is no excuse for Mariah to at least do some interviews. This album is done, I'm afraid.

Negativity (45,002)
by G.G. from USA

I, myself, have been critical of how the album promo has been handled and some of MC's incoherent interviews, but there is a lot of negativity being thrown Mariah's way lately. I'm starting to feel bad for her. I visit a couple of other celebrity/music blogs and commenters there have nothing nice to say about her and now it's feeling that way on this site too. The other sites/blogs I visit obviously don't like Mariah, because their owners never post a nice article about MC.

And anyone else debating about the stolen sample. It wasn't just one sample. It was concepts (plural) of Mariah's album, Glitter, that she had to last minute change because certain people were trying to sabotage her and build their own career.

Dating? (44,949)
by G.G. from USA
| |
|
|
Adam, did you really bring up MC's dating record. I would talk about J-Lo's numerous shady relationships and how she cheated on Diddy, but we're limited to 1500 letters. Lol. Tommy tried to "create" another Mariah with J-Lo and Thalia and it didn't work. They've never come close to the same level of success. You know why? Because they don't bring to the table what Mariah does. Immense, incomparable talent. Believe what you want, J-Lo was in on it. Tommy told her he would make her bigger than Mariah and it didn't work.

I can't even deal with people arguing that it's ok to speak hood/ebonics/slang and not understanding the importance of being able to speak proper English. Also, you keep saying "white" this and "white" that. That sounds racist to me. Didn't you say you're mixed? Mixed with "white"? If so, it sounds like there's some self loathing going on there.
